Visited on a Sunday morning for breakfast. We were told it would be £16.50 which seemed a lot but I was prepared to accept it if the quality was high. It was not. The breakfast buffet was disgusting. Nasty, dried-out bacon and cheap seeming sausages. The beans were mostly liquid and the scrambled "eggs" lay there in a pool of liquid. I've been eating cooked breakfasts in hotels for 30 years and this was probably the worst ever. I asked for 4 fried eggs (2 each) and after more than 10 minutes, 2 of them arrived. So far too late for the rest of the food. Mind you, I did go to get a little more bacon to find the receptacle full of bacon which had been over-cooked to the point of incineration. And there were no sausages this time. The staff were defensive with one exception: a young man called Matt whose positive attitude and general humour despite the disasters clearly going on in the kitchen, saved the day. Avoid at all costs!

Had the burger. Nice chunky chips. The patty had an odd texture and not much flavour, supermarket Aberdeen Angus burgers have more flavour and juicier. Uninspiring Lettuce leaf and heap of onion relish was disappointing. I liked the decor and Butty Bach is a decent pint. Also really good service. Could be better, needs better ingredients and a little panache.

Sunday lunch was disappointing with little taste and the service was very poor. Even had to ask three times for the bill. Could not recommend this place unfortunately.

Fantastic food and service! Staff were so knowledgeable and friendly, going above and beyond. Food was amazing, highly recommend the chicken scrumpet. Drinks really reasonably priced and lots of champagne cocktails! Very festive feeling and just a wonderful wonderful evening. Will definitely be coming back!

We were staying at the Green Dragon Hotel and thought we would try the restaurant. So good we came back twice. The first night was Friday fish night, delicious mackeral and tasty salmon fish cake followed by fish and chips and a super roast monkfish tail. The next night we both had herford lamb rump.which was cooked beautifully and a good cheeseboard and tangy lemon posset. Reasonable wine list and tap water offered. Staff are friendly and enthusiastic. Do not dismiss this restaurant as a typical Hotel restaurant it provides good quality well prepared food.

Very clean hotel & looks lovely, BUT. Why was the food order taken in the bar, it was awful. It took over 30 minutes to get the order right, as the member of staff had missed a meal off, and it was very disorganised when trying to work out what was missing. The Sunday lunch was a real disappointment, the food that came out on the plate ie, meat & Yorkshire, were luke warm. The vegetables did not arrive with the meal, and although we asked several different people for our vegetables, we were met with a reply of ‘I’ll get you more in a minute’, MORE?, we hadn’t even had any, let alone have more! By the time we eventually managed to get someone to bring us vegetables to our table, most of us had eaten the meat & Yorkshire(, as this was now cold as we had waited so long. The desserts were awful, the posset was served in a glass where 2 spoonfuls would have finished it, it was that small. These were returned , and they should be embarrassed for this to even leave the kitchen, and expect to charge £4.oo for it. Other desserts were also returned due to the poor quality. Although there appears to be quite a few staff, some need training on how to deliver a first class service. Also retrain them on how to serve a table at a time, to make sure they don’t move on until they are sure all the food has been served, and everyone’s needs have been met, A very disappointing visit, and not the best experience for family that had travelled a long way to celebrate a special birthday. Very very disappointing ☹️

So disappointing. Having been following the revamp of the Green dragon and attending their functions which have been great, I was really keen to try out their new restaurant The Hereford. On arrival the restaurant was empty and we were seated on one of the only two tables that the lights weren't working, so it was very dim to view menu. During the evening they got it fixed and without warning thrust us into brightness. Took our drinks order and bought white instead of rosè as requested when we told them they did offer to change it. The meals were so underwhelming considering the price! Basically the buttermilk chicken was posh chicken nuggets but the batter was very stodgy, sickly, and greasy. The pork was perfectly cooked but very plain so quite dry. Therefore we didn't stop for dessert or coffee, which seemed frowned upon and then we waited 40 minutes to pay the bill after asking for it! The meal was for a special occasion so over all, very disappointed. The waitress and waiter were very nice, but this review is about the overall experience sorry.

Unfortunately we didn’t have the best meal, nothing was fresh, the batter on the fish was just not nice, chewy hard , the chips were a mush together, we were hungry but I just couldn’t eat it, I have had some good takeaways before so hopefully they will sort this out.

Didn't stay, just called in for beer and food. Service is excellent, atmosphere spot on, ask Mandy about everything she knows about the painted map in the restaurant 😁 and make sure to give plenty of fuss to Nettle 😊😊
