Terrible service Food obviously spent quite some time under heating lamps , it certainly wasn’t cooked from fresh, because once it arrived it was dry, shrivelled up and warm to cold.

Very nice food, waitress Chlee was very polite and helpful, very nice experience, quick service and would recommend to family and friends.

We found this pub after searching the area and reading great reviews. We booked the day before, and enjoyed a fabulous Sunday roast as a family group of five. The staff were incredibly welcoming when we arrived and showed us to a really really lovely table (massively appreciated that they gave us a circle table perfect for five of us, rather than the usual standard table for six which leaves someone sat opposite an empty chair!). We pretty much all had the roast dinner, two of us had the vegan roast. Everyone was really pleased with their meals, vegetables were fresh and tasty, and all the food was great quality, especially for the price and good portion sizes. We appreciated the 30% offer too!! Would definitely stop by again when we’re in the area. Thanks for a great afternoon lunch!

Don’t bother going on a Sunday unless you can make it for lunch! We arrived for our booking just after 5pm to be told the Roasts had sold out! Even though the website states “available all day, every Sunday” this is clearly not the case.

I told the chap who served us we had a 30% off voucher. He then told us, we have no steak, we have no lettuce! Anyway he found enough lettuce to make us a sandwich which followed our Luke warm soup. When we came to pay we were told the voucher wouldn’t be accepted against our lunch. Surely we should have been told that when we arrived. Completely awful experience which we won’t be repeating

Ate every inch of my Sunday roast, washed down with a delicious wine. The only problem is I was too full for pudding! As usual, the staff were attentive and a credit to the pub, in particular, one of the managers, I believe his name is John. Will definitely visit again soon and be recommending to my family and friends.

Booked online after seeing the good reviews, & we were not disappointed. We were greeted with a warm & friendly welcome by Ryan & he also was our waiter. Loved the vintage feeling & the warm atmosphere, the Menu had an excellent choice with something for everyone, we decided to both have the Roast beef which was excellent, one of the best we have had for a long time whilst eating out. We were so impressed with everything at the end of our meal when paying I asked Ryan if we could possibly book a large table for 12 of us to celebrate my Husbands 60th Birthday. Ryan was so helpful he showed me the Den room in the back which has a large table to accommodate us all & it was perfect just what I was looking for. I was so pleased with Ryan's help he booked it all for us & sent me menu so we are able to pre order our food which I feel was a lovely thing to offer so that the items we require can be in stock. Thank you so much Ryan & all the other staff that worked so hard to make our first visit a memorable one, we will be back on a regular basis & look forward to bringing more family & friends with us.

Disappointing meal and service. One of the party had fish and chips but chips were hard and the rest of the party had pies which even though nice, were lukewarm with bland mash. Service was lacking and had to chase drink orders. For desert, the expensive Sundae was 3 scoops of ice cream and squirty cream on the side - had to complain as some of the ice cream was horrible and found out it was vegan.

Had a fabulous Sunday lunch for my daughter’s birthday. We had a large table in a private area. Loved the fairy lights! Manager was excellent. Staff were lovely. Food was really good. The menu catered for everyone in my family. Will definitely return

Disappointed today, No Pizza available (2nd time in two visits) The food was tasty enough but barely warm, had to send it back to go through the microwave, which really isn't acceptable. They also served the meals without cutlery, so food is going cold while we waited for the knives and forks. No apology about the cold food, just had my meal shoved in front of me. Real lack of basics today.

Friendly service. Initially a bit slow but the food was really good and the staff attentive. We had a selection of starters and finished with a magnificent cheesecake.

Absolutely amazing place. The staff were friendly, the food was good and the pub is so cosy. I really enjoyed this place. Went hiking the morning and visited the fresh farm cafe near by. I would recommend this pub for it atmosphere and warm log fires.

We were driving past and decided to get something to eat from here as we have been here previously a few years ago. The car park was quite empty but was a good size. We went in and were shown to a table straight away as the place was quiet. We ordered drinks and food. I the drinks were ok. For food I had the steak and ale pie which was ok but not the best pie I have had. The other food which was ordered was a slight delay with getting for one of the people we were with. Overall the decor was nice, location is ok, food is ok but a bit over priced. The staff seemed friendly and helpful.

My husband and I were having lunch with my sister and brother in law. We had all had lunch here before which we all enjoyed. On this particular visit we decided to choose from a menu which gave the choice of 2 courses for £16. We all chose a starter and main course. The starters were very pleasant but I must comment that the soup came in the smallest bowl and was hardly a ladle full We waited quite a while for our main courses and when thy arrived they looked quit nice, and then we tried them. Only one of the mains was hot and the other 3 were stone cold! The plates that they were on were also very cold. We pointed this out to the waitress and she took them away to be replaced. My brother in law continued to eat his main as this was hot. When our dishes returned the waitress apologised and said there was a problem with the hot plate on the pass and we replied that this was not our problem and that we expected a hot meal no matter what. We ate the mains but they were not really hot at this point either. We once again told the waitress and she said that we would be given some discount. Upon paying the bill my husband was asked for £81. He asked where the discount was and she said she would take the meals off the bill. This reduced it to £53. Which in my opinion was far too much for the very unsatisfactory and disappointing meal that we had been given. What she had actually done was remove the mains but charged us full price for all 4 starters which were in fact smaller portions as they came from the special offer menu, which in my opinion does not make it a special offer. We have used this venue many times in the past for meals and special occasions such as Birthdays and a Wake. However, we will not be coming again or recommending you to anyone any time soon.

We'd been here before once ut this second visit was disappointing. Service was slack and slow, food was very mediocre. The Yorkshire puddings were so soggy we left most. Didn't order desserts as we suspected the wait would e too long given the huge gap between starter and main course.

Good food, lovely staff on a busy Saturday, good atmosphere. Only criticism is the cubicles in the ladies toilets! They are so small. Anyone who is bigger than a size 12 or pregnant would not be able to use them - simple solution is to have the door open outward; there is plenty of room between the cubicles and the sinks

Sloppy bar staff late Saturday afternoon! Busy bar but not dreadfully at around 5pm but the two of them just seemed to want to pour the drinks in any old fashion meaning that red wine was dribbled down the side of the glass which drips on to clothes when being sipped! Poor show! Lovely surroundings as usual but spoilt by shoddy bar staff.

A superb lunch and excellent service. Particularly good was the soup and the chicken tenders - super!! Charmaine served us well - thank you Charmaine. Joe, who we assume is the manager, who we've met before and has always provided excellent service, with good humour, served us in the latter half of our visit. Altogether perfect! After reading the other reviews we were looking forward to our visit, in fact we drove down especially. We called up prior to our visit to double check and were told that last food orders were 9pm (on the website it says food til 10pm). Arriving at 8:15 we were ‘greeted’ by someone behind the bar, who grunted at us that ‘the kitchen is closed and it’s not my choice’. Although I felt sorry for the young person whose job it was to tell us, the management must take responsibility for how customers are poorly communicated with. In a time where local pubs are closing, we came wanting to spend money and it’s a shame in this occasion we were let down.

We have been here quite a few times and recently just as lockdown allowed outside dinning, which was great however, rebooked for last night 19th may for indoor dining.. well organised however table booked for 6.30 for three of us. We waited and waited others served around us so I called a member of staff over to ask maybe they had forgotten our order he went off to find out what the issue was. Ten minutes went by he walked by us several times no comment or update until eventually at 7.35 they brought our meals bearing in mind one had a salad. Not the best food and customer service disgraceful I did complain but fell on deaf ears. NO RETURN VISIT. just a sorry there was a mix up with your order but nope nothing.

We booked ahead of time & ate inside for the first time in many months. The menu was varied with special 2-4-1 offers on delicious home made pizzas or half price steaks. Excellent value, friendly service 7 a nice friendly safe environment

Great from start to finish. Access made easy for 1 member of party in wheelchair, ramps provided no hassle at all. Very welcoming team and all COVID secure measures in place. Lovely to be able to eat indoors again. Charles provided excellent table service, went above and beyond nothing was too much trouble, very attentive but not intrusive, perfect balance. He even picked up on the fact it was my birthday and brought a wonderful surprise at end of meal, much appreciated. Quality of food excellent. Look forward to visiting again. Would highly recommend.

We were celebrating a very special anniversary today. Could not celebrate our 20th anniversary last year due to lockdown. But we enjoyed a wonderful afternoon with you today, Thursday. Booked a table for 5.45pm. Was really busy but seated quickly. Great service from Charlie and thumbs up to Michael on his first shift. Loved the butter chicken starter and pork pie. The pizzas are really good and even better at 2 for 1 before 7pm Mon to Friday! Thanks guys.

My trip to Ye Olde Saracens Head was very, very enjoyable. Located just outside of Balsall Common, this sweet and cosy pub is definitely one I’ll be returning to soon. Ovaj je pub bio nevjerojatan i obožavao sam travu.

Really busy place but booked a table and Charles was brilliant about getting our drinks really quickly. Enjoyed it and would definitely recommend.

So when I arrived, it was fairly full but there were not too many tables for the FOH staff to manage between them. We ordered 2 pizzas, 2 drinks, and the cheese and biscuits from the dessert menu to come out with our mains. We were asked if we wanted the cheese and biscuits after our dinner or with and we said we would like it with our dinner. So after waiting an average amount of time, our drinks arrived. Then after a long wait so did our Cheese and Biscuits. We did want to wait until our pizzas had arrived to start eating but it took so long and you could not get anyones attention. We had then eaten our cheese and biscuits in the same amount of time it had taken for the 2 tables next to us (who ordered after us) they had received all of their food. We then managed to finally get someones attention to ask where the rest of the meal was, to which they said they will find out; eventually, they came back and said it would be another ten minutes, so i ordered another drink which arrived in a glass with lipstck on it. By this point, the tables next to us had now finished their dessert, had coffee and asked for the bill, and we still didn't have our mains. We asked for our mains again and explained we have been waiting for an hour and a half. There was no apologies form the waitress'.Finally, our pizzas came. When they arrived they were very bland, I had ordered the prosciutto pizza which had about 4 chunks of pineapple, minimal ham and the cheese was so sparse there was barely anything on this pizza, it didnt look like the pizza the table next to us had received.no one came to check the meal was ok or apologies, had they have done so i would have sent the pizza back but at this point I would have just ate anything. Trying to get anyones attention to pay the bill also took a while. We expressed we were not happy with the service we had received that day and didn't get so much of an apology.I understand that staff have not been working for a long time due to the pandemic, but this was just not acceptable. I dont know what was worse, the food or the service. It took 2 hours in the end to get our meals from when we had ordered, these were not large orders and we had ordered before the 2 tables next to us, so I am very confused as to why an earth it took so long.

I am never disappointed when visiting the saracens head, it has to be our favourite restaurant so it couldn’t not be our first meal back after lockdown! The best stone baked pizzas I’ve had anyway, and delicious cocktails! I recommend the Korean pizza, strawberry Cosmo, halloumi fries and tomato dough balls! This was my friends first visit and she loved the place, she’s now recommended it to her family too ☺️

This was my first meal out,after the restrictions were lifted this week, to celebrate my birthday. Booked a table over the phone and came well wrapped up to sit outside. It’s all very well organised with a one way system, signs telling you what to do and a clearly marked point to check in at. There was a really nice atmosphere.... lots of families and a small number of well behaved dogs. We felt safe, well spaced out and could see all the team working hard. Thanks for looking after us Joe. Our pizzas were awesome and my G&T went down like a dream! Well done, and wishing the pub prosperous times for the months ahead.

I just wanted to say how wonderful our visit was to you today. I was feeling quite apprehensive about eating out again but was immediately made to feel safe when we arrived with staff wearing masks and customers encouraged to wear on arrival and when entering the pub to use the toilet. The tables were spaced out really well and I immediately felt comfortable. The menu had great choice and our food (pizza and burger followed by pavlova and torte) was delicious. Staff were really welcoming and overall it was such a lovely lunch out. Thank you to everyone at Ye Olde Saracens for working so hard to make it safe and enjoyable. We will be back very soon!

We’re regular customer to the Saracens and have never had a bad experience. We have eaten most of the dishes on the menu and have to say they’re all outstanding but nothing beats the pizzas especially in the week when they’re 241. The staff are so friendly and nothing is to much trouble for them! We love it here and will continue to support at these difficult times.

Lovely time at the Saracen’s Head yesterday. Our waitress, Maisie, was very friendly and attentive. She informed us of the half price steak offer and can’t believe how good they were for saving they were half price!! Shall be returning soon.

I was looking for a place to take the wife that was a bit out of the way and with a bit of character and that is what I found here ,but then to top it all off the food was to die for and the service was excellent.We had for the main, sea bream with chorizo ragu and for pudding sticky banana toffee good portion size so needless to say we will be going back.

Me and a few friends visited the the Saracen’s for 50% off steaks tonight. I couldn’t fault our experience! The service was outstanding and the staff were delightful; Evie and Joe in particular. Obviously being from more than one household we were asked to sit outside however it was toasty warm under the heaters. 5 stars from us! Thank you for a lovely time.

Our recent visit to the Saracens head was yet again first class, the staff are very attentive and friendly the food is superb we are never disappointed. COVID has not stopped these guys they have managed the restrictions really well ensuring guidelines are followed and people are kept safe. The outdoor eating area is amazing fully heated we ate in comfort. Well done to everyone we will be back very soon *****

Visited the Saracens head recently and had an amazing experience.The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The new procedures made me feel safe. The pizzas were light and tasted so fresh. There was a great selection of toppings. I had the chicken and it was beautiful.Would recommend a visit to this pub, has incredible offers.

Covid friendly, pleasant staff, good food,including great vegetarian/vegan options, great pizza. Good outdoor space with heaters , dog friendly, will patronise over winter period .....and beyond! :-)

Sunday roast is amazing here! Been a few times for food and the Sunday roast has been of good standard every time. The only thing I would suggest is thicker gravy (personal preference) but all in all a good plate of home made food! I would recommend booking earlier for Sunday dinner as unfortunately they had ran out of two meats when we got there but that’s a sign of a good roast! The atmosphere is so cute and cosy, the fairy lights are such a nice touch. Staff are always polite, was served by Chloe I believe. Plenty of hand sanitisers around, track & trace being followed, and one way system in place. Be back soon :)

I never really write reviews but we had such a great time at the Ye Old Saracens Head in Balsall Common I feel I have to. We are a family of four, my two girls love this place.The experience was fantastic from start to finish. We booked our table with Alice the GM who was really helpful and managed to get us a table at short notice. On arrival it was clear the attention to detail on making it a safe but still warm and welcoming environment.We were seated without delay by Alice who I must say works her socks off! Shortly after we were greeted by Lexi who was very bubbly and enthusiastic. Our drinks order was taken and arrived promptly. What can I say about the food “ it’s amazing!” honestly so good. I had the caramelised onion and cider soup for starter which was delicious, for main I had the Muscles in a Thai sauce and skinny fries again amazing! All in all fantastic team and great service, restaurant fantastic, food fantastic.I will be visiting again soon.

Lovely old pub now just an eatery.Came in for Sunday lunch after a local walk.The burger was overcooked and the dinner was not properly hot with al dente veg, which isn't very British pub grub.

Lovely lunch at Ye Old Saracens Head. We went for a walk with the dog before hand and then came back for lunch. The bar and outside are dog friendly. All staff were very friendly and welcoming. Toilets were very nice and clean. Food wise, I opted for the fish cakes and a side of skin on chips and my husband had the Thai Mussels both very nicely presented and delicious. The bill was reasonable however I would say portion size on the fish cakes was a little on the small side for £8.50. Saying that, I am happy to pay more for good food. We will be returning and have already recommended to friends.

I recently celebrated my 50th with a family meal, the staff were warm and welcoming but also followed the covid rules. The whole family felt safe and free to enjoy dinner. The food was fabulous and the service was just as good, Emma waited on us and she was very patient as we debated what to order. Highly recommended and will definitely be back.

We really enjoyed our visit. We booked a table in the bar area since we had our dog with us. We found it to be nice and spacious yet still had a great cosy country pub feel. We both had steaks for mains, I had the rump and my hubby the rib eye, they were both cooked perfectly and went down great with a nice glass of Merlot. Definitely visit again when in the area.

We came over as out first time out to eat since Feb and weren't disappointed .. staff extremely friendly , Covid - precautions done really well with out feeling any isolation We ate lunch ,( table 43 ) which came out in good time & was piping hot .. onion soup was fantastic ,would have been even more filling if it cam with a chuck on bread .Dog was welcomed with open arms

We managed to get a last minute booking (after someone hadn’t turned up for theirs). I hadn’t eaten here before but have heard good things. They have a good system in place to reduce the risk of Covid. I usually find that quality of food isn’t great at places with large number of covers, but not here. We all enjoyed our meals, will definitely return.

I’ve visited twice since lockdown was lifted and I’ve felt extremely safe both times. They are following Covid restrictions to the letter which is great to see. Although the menu is smaller than normal there are still some great choices to be had. The new outdoor seating area is fabulous too. The last time I visited on a Sunday lunch and enjoyed a fantastic roast dinner. Keep up the good work!

Super lunch; friendly bar, good pint, great service and great pizza. Haven’t been for too long; forgot how good this place is. Patio refurb is great too!

Shown to table, ordered at the bar, my wine glass had lipstick on so asked for replacement. Luckily from where we sat I could see the bar, my wine was poured into a fresh glass, when it was bought back over I asked for fresh wine as well, with Covid still around I didn’t feel comfortable drinking wine that had been in a dirty glass. I watched my returned wine left on the side until a round of drinks ordered and it was added onto that tray and taken out to other customers! Had to ask to be added to track and trace....didn’t feel comfortable or safe here at all. Will give here a miss for a while
