Shite. Sunflower scheme is visible and pleasant staff at the desk. The rest of the airport don't give a hoot. Thirty minutes queuing on a metal staircase with kids playing up is not a good start to the Holiday. Still if we are out of sight it seems that we are out of mind.

Flight got delayed 3 hours. After taking everyone off the plane, on the 2nd boarding staff decided to double check if everyone's bags were definitely the correct dimensions down to the centimetre. Completely uncalled for given the passengers frustration. On top of the airport only having 2 buses that were getting overworked, and delays were getting caused by the buses not getting to terminals on time.

Arrived into terminal building from a flight at 12.55 p.m. No big crowds or queues, like other on other visits, thankfully. Works still going on internally. Will they ever finish? The airport desperately needs more gates. It's outrageous that passengers are herded on to a bus like cattle after landing in order to enter the terminal building. What's wrong with allowing passengers to walk into it? Aer Lingus need to put serious pressure on the airport to ditch the busses, get more gates and allow passengers to walk rather than being treated like cattle.

What a poor excuse for an 'international' airport. Arrivals/ Passport Control is an embarrassing joke if they get a couple of flights in together - sort it out! Additionally, out of all the airports in the UK that provide a twilight bag drop service, BHX is the only Airport in the UK that charges people £5 for the privilege of parking close to the terminal - another reason I avoid taking flights from this mess of an airport. The road network & signage while leaving the place is also all over the place - someone really needs to grip it.

Travelled back from Portugal, we were delayed by 1 hour to collect our bags, they must be short staffed again at the airport. The airport decided to put three planes baggage onto the same conveyor at the same time. It was chaotic, and as usual, there was no airport staff on the ground to speak to. All in all, it cost me an extra delay at the parking and time for everyone travelling on those fleights.

As always, no hassle, the pick up and drop off points run smoothly. Major road works on junction leading to airport, on m42 going Southill. But other than that, it's a nice smooth ride, really. I travel it regular doing taxi runs from Mid Wales. Usually 2 times a week anytime of day or night. Night time is always best time after 9pm till 5am. Once road expansion etc is finished it should be far better. Drop off and parking areas at airport are perfect.

No problems on departure. However, EVERY time we use Birmingham, there are problems retrieving luggage. This time we arrived from Funchal and the arrivals area was empty, so we were optimistic. After 20 minutes of waiting, luggage began to appear, but staff hastily ran to tell us that this luggage belonged to a flight from Las Palmas and none of those passengers were yet through immigration. We then had to wait until these people arrived to collect their luggage and then ours appeared after on the same belt, whilst 4 other conveyor belts were left unused.

Birmingham Airport is, without a doubt, one of the worst airports I’ve ever had the misfortune of using. The organization is absolutely abysmal!! There’s no clear direction, and the signage is terrible. Whether you’re trying to find your gate, baggage claim, or even just the exit, expect to waste time wandering around in frustration. The security checks are a complete nightmare. The staff is utterly incapable of managing the passenger flow, leading to long, inefficient queues that move at a snail’s pace. It’s clear that there’s no proper system in place, making the whole process unnecessarily stressful and chaotic. Delays seem to be the norm here rather than the exception. Flights are constantly running late, and there’s little to no communication from staff about what’s going on. To make matters worse, airlines charge ridiculously high prices for flights that land here, making the entire experience feel like a complete rip-off. And if you think things get better once you leave the terminal or you are arriving there... think again. Uber drivers will either demand an extra £6 to drop you at the main terminal or leave you 15 minutes away on foot. Complaints to Uber go absolutely nowhere, so you're left stranded or paying an unfair fee.

Had the worst experience here. My bus from the airport to Leicester was at 10 55 and I was waiting inside the airport as it was cold outside, when I walk outside to catch the bus there's construction going on and they closed down the bus stop, and there were absolutely no signs and no one knew where the coaches have been redirected to. Ran all over the airport and no body could help.

Dreading using BHX after the reviews but was honestly one of the smoother airport experience of late. No queues for check in or security, No.1 lounge was pleasant and boarding nice and orderly for the flight to the middle east. The place is a building site around security but still not a problem. Update 29 December 24, the airport is a maze, and is like walking through a building site especially after security. I think there has been major building works for the last 5 years.

Traveled from Birmingham to Dublin with 8months baby and a 7year old . They searched the baby like baby had drugs on him. And of course older child was searched aswell but not me . Seriously???? Then they took away babys sudocream cos it was 200g and it was less then an isch left from the bottom. But in every other airport they did swaps and let it go. I asked if i coud have a tiny bit for the baby, just a finger size, guy told me no , i can buy a new one. Seriously??? People walking passed with empty travel cups with 0.5litre capacity,but nearly empty baby sudocream was taken off me. Where is logic? Also parking price is ridiculously high 9£ for 15 min????? They must be having a laugh out of people. Next... staff at Ryanair bag drop off was very rude and we had to call her many times most of the times she was ignoring us, every single time she would come do one thing and before she left we asked her to help us with car seat labels, but she just completely ignored us. And after calling her again she was making very unhappy angry face. Never experienced such rudeness in any other air ports

Assisted travel was brilliant through birmingham airport both ways. They made sure all the paperwork was in place for my flight and it was great, I got to use my own chair all the way to the plane and it was loaded safely and arrived back with no breakages so thanks. It was my first time flying with my chair so I was nervous but the assisted travel made it so simple. Thank you! A nice cleaner saw me waiting to go in a disabled toilet and informed me that one was locked and I should follow him to a nicer one which he checked was clean beforehand. If he hadn't have been there I don't know what I would have done as it wasn't clear it was locked, I just assumed someone was in there. Luckily the toilet he took me to was clean and had enough room for me.

Expect no call for your flight, even if you hear other calls. For smaller flight the gate can be open for as little as 5 mins so follow board times closely. Swiss Port handling agents for any problems - only 1/7 I spoke to were any help 🥴

Departure and arrival was the worst experience ever, staff seem to be completely unbothered about the fact that passengers are standing around for half an hour to an hour waiting for the luggage carousel. In comparison, Faro airport had the luggage already on the carousel ready for collection by the time we got into the terminal. Dirty, dilapidated, and dated, I will always try and avoid this airport flying in the future, if you are flying from Birmingham, leave yourself at least two hours extra time to stand around waiting for people to do their jobs.

The truth is that with the new baggage control system they have improved a lot, it is very comfortable and fast, it has to be said that it is good too =) ............................................ The controls are rubbish here. In the last 10 days I have been to 4 different airports with the same hand luggage, on 3 continents, 2 of them airports in England. In Birmingham they tell me that you can only have one bag of liquids per person, which is like that in England. When I told him that not at Heathrow and Gatwick, he changed the story with a new regulation that they have recently adopted in H and that I didn't know anything about G. Was he cheating on me then the first time? If I want to carry my liquids (already in miniature jars), I have to check my backpack. Good lesson on how money buys everything, thanks. When I asked the name of the 2 people who were forcing me to throw things away, they hid the identification cards they were carrying and refused to give me their names, what a shame. Control line number 7 at 1:20 p.m. on February 1, 2023. It seems to me an obsolete and retrograde system in which they advocate waste, waste, waste, throwing away useful things in perfect condition without even being able to recycle and creating more unnecessary pollution to this world. I hope they manage to update in the near future. They are sad.

Security works better now. The Aircon in the departures area seems to have failed. To be fair, the departures area is not big enough for peak times but the airport is probably okay with that as it means all of the bars and restaurants are crammed. The toilets are consistently terrible. The refurbishment is taking years to complete. Overall, not a great place.

Flew back from Australia via Emirates only to encounter chaos and extremely long queue for the border control. Further, the beeping of the horn of the golf carts trying to force their way through the already congested corridor where there was hardly any place to move out the way in the mass of tired passengers was very unpleasant as the first experience after landing at Birmingham airport. Customer interaction by the staff directing passengers to border control and capacity to process passengers need to improve.

Birmingham airport is not as easy or friendly to get about as it used to be. There's been loads of changes made but they haven't really looked after the important things like the toilets which are always in an awful state. By the time I find a clean toilet there was a row of things with all the taps broken apart from one. Not a great experience and very expensive when you get inside. Birmingham really needs to improve its experience for people arriving here from outside.

Why behave like a big airport when you can't handle it. Today arrived from RMU about 20 minutes ahead of time on Ryan Air. We had to queue up in the open for a good 30 minutes. After another hour of crawl finally got through immigration which was smooth thanks to the automatic gates. Baggage claim was another experience with bags from 5 or 6 flights on carousel 3. Baggage hall had hardly a place to stand or sit. Finally got out one and half hour later from a two hour flight. Clearly the issue was staffing and not space but being treated like a herd of sheep is disrespectful and unacceptable. Please don't take advantage of helpless passengers

Truly awful airport ..Have the misfortune to live reasonably close and therefore booked flights from it because of proximity but so bad wont do so any more .Rather drive four times distance to heathrow or gatwick .Arrive 2 hours before flight departure and you may still not get through to departure lounge in time .Enormous queues snake slowly just to even get to ticket check even if you have already checked in online and only have hand baggage .Another long queue to security .Tiny number of machines all new often breaking down .Many passengers forced into slow hand inspection all completely safe because the machine process time is too fast for adequate check ..[told this by searcher ] ..Some staff ok but most bored truculent grim ..There is a big sign in departures ...Bear with us as we redevelop for a better experience which will be ready july 2024 .....still not ready early 2025 .Management completely pathetic and incompetent

I understand that there is a problem with recruiting quality personnel, but security control is staffed by mean and unintelligent employees. It is not normal to have all the vials taken from your luggage and belongings, no matter if they are within the norms. And what if they set up an interrogation for you - "what is this and what do you use it for", after having previously decided to throw it away. Rude, outrageous!

I had the worst experience. The staff is very negligent. There were 4 suitcases on the street dropped by the staff. It took them 20 mins to pick them up. When I was checking in, the women asked me to put my purse in the bag because I couldn't have 2 bags. He hold on to my passport. When I asked for it she told me to wait because there were more important things going on. No one has right yo hold on to my private property!!!!

So I went to this watering house from my home in Kings Heath, as I was curious to meet this guy the plumber in the photos on the site. Was not disapointed the atmosphere was fantastic, staff friendly and introduced to the main man "The Plumber", is a landmark to this pub, can defo talk and drink we ended up 3 deep, I bought the plumber some food tasted lush, when you come in here pricing is great food great and make sure you ask for Paul the Plumber for good drink and laugh.
