Came to Owestry for the weekend and were looking for somewhere to eat, late Saturday afternoon. Found The Fox Inn on the high street. Good choice on the menu. We went with the roast dinner....it was huge and really tasty. Staff lovely and friendly too. We chose well. :)

Another visit to this lovely pub, lots of undercover outside seating area, 3 of us on this visit, one of my friends has the full roast dinner £10, could have had a half portion for £8 must say the portion sizes are generous, it was a lovely roast all homemade friend tried her best but couldn’t manage it all, myself and my Aunty had off the light bites menu lots of choices for £7.50 these portions were very generous more than you get at Wetherspoons for a full portion, food was much nicer than any Wetherspoons I have visited, my aunty had the Turkey and stuffing toastie served with chips coleslaw and side salad, my auntie couldn’t manage it all, I had beef chilli and rice, and it was very nice and I ate it all, the staff here were very nice friendly and worked very hard, we will definitely return again on our next visit to Oswestry.

A very welcoming and truly dog friendly pub. Roast dinner was fabulous, especially the gravy. Eyes too big for my belly on the Large Portion; had to take the half roasted chicken away in a doggy bag!! Would certainly recommend. The staff and owner were absolutely wonderful. Had drinks here a few times so decided to give the food a try. Firstly one pint, one gin and a coffee £12.50!!!. Ordered food, took a while to come and disappointed chips were all burnt and the pie was just thick soup with shop bought pastry stuck on top, was hoping for a full pastry.case not just a lid. Our table was sticky, we had to pull our drinks off it. The ceiling above our table was flaking off.in big sheets can't see how that gets them a 5 star hygiene rating. We gave it a chance but shall stick with wetherspoon in future guaranteed good food and certainly cheaper drinks.

Popped in here today whilst visiting Oswestry. Very friendly really old fabulous pub. We had meals, the £6 Monday madness meal of sausages, egg and the best chips ever!, proper chips, best I've tasted in years. We also had the curry and chips priced at £8, again chips fantastic but curry was tasty but not much chicken or veg, lots of liquid so had to use a spoon to eat it. Would certainly visit here again if we come back to the area. Food very reasonably priced and plenty of choice too. Ramp for disabled down alleyway at side door.

In august we were staying in some camping pods and went for a drive for food… the fox looked inviting, and was dog friendly. We went in were welcomed by bar staff friendly and was great with my dog. We ordered food the chef was fabulous (and funny) wore mad color trousers but it definitely went with her sence of humor. Food was AMAZING! Large portions and homemade chips… my dog sat next to us on chair/seating was brought treats by the bar staff and fussed her. Overall a great experience Thank you to staff and the chef with the crazy chef trouser’s making us feel welcomed and amazing food xx

Late lunch / early tea, nipped in at 3.10 for something to eat, knowing food finished at 3.30. Lady chef came out with couple of titbits and water for the dog, I thought this a lovely touch. We weren’t expecting much, just chicken and chips so was very much delighted with size of portion, quality of food and cost! We were here for 4 days, ate out everyday and this was the best meal we had! The chef said she was fairly new to the post? Keep her, food was delicious!

Don't know if I loved or hated this place! It is very very old and has bags of character. It looks like it hasn't been decorated since the 70s ( that's the 1870s ).it was almost full at lunchtime and very welcoming. The beer was rather good and the food was incredibly cheap but really basic. It could be great if it was run a bit better, and the barmaid didn't disappear to serve food halfway through my order. We ordered breakfast baps to be quick as we had a bus to catch and were told it was a 30 min wait, 50 mins later, I had to ask for them at the kitchen door. They could make more of the place easily.

Used to love this pub and they've done the outside area up nice with an outside bar, that's where it ends. Tiny bottle of the cheapest hand sanitizer they could get at entrance, go to bar and unless you see the book to give contact details, you are not asked to fill it in, patrons leaving their tables to talk to other groups, clearly off their heads on something they were going to the toilets every 5 minutes or so to sniff. The worst thing? 2 fresh drinks, I noticed the supposedly clean glass I was served with was covered in lipstick, the barmaid, who had been polite up til then, really took offence when a fresh drink in a glass that was actually clean was requested, and didn't seem to understand a pandemic was happening, got a bit shirty with my husband, pubs need staff that can understand what's happening at the moment in the world, we did get a fresh drink we probably should have just walked away then upon discovering the lack of education the staff displayed, our fault for not walking away, would go back if they showed they had customers interests at heart, which they clearly don't at the moment.

It was tasty but the all day breakfast that was brought for the lady who was attending the bar looked good. There is not much by way of pubs that offer real ale in this part of Oswestry - apart from the Wynnstay (a bit too busy with senior citizens) - that is not oppressed by raucous music. So this is a bit of a find. Beer was good.

Defensive manager does not value feedback! This place will therefore not improve. We visited the restaurant as believed it to be part of a good quality complex. Our arrival was greeted cheerfully and we were shown to a 2 seater table. That’s where any notion of customer service ended. My partner went up to the counter to order a starter and 2 meals…. Our drinks arrive promptly. …tick tick… 20 minutes go by. People who arrived after us start getting their meals… …tick tick… I go over and ask what’s happening. I’m told “It’s busy“ …tick tick… I ask again. “It’s busy.” More people who have subsequently come in are served. Eventually the manager (who I saw looking at tickets behind the kitchen) came over with our mains. No starter of soup. What followed was incredible! She insisted that the cock up was our fault! Apparently, the lack of soup was because she could not possibly know what was ordered, what should be a starter and how many people were at each table. That excuse would work in a service station, but we are talking about a place that charges handsome price’s commensurate with table service - but with no table service. We will never go back.
