The location of The Two Boats is stunning, with great views of the canal and wildlife. The lime and soda we had was surprisingly inexpensive and tasty, with no chintzing on the ice. Our meal, though, was rather disappointing. We ordered grilled halloumi ‘burgers’ with chips and cole slaw. The halloumi was a good portion but not grilled nearly enough, and the chips were undercooked too. No cole slaw came with the meal as the menu said. (There were a few slivers of red pepper.) I’d love to return as the walk nearby is gorgeous, so it’s a real shame the same cannot be said about the food at this pub.

We called in here by chance when travelling through to Banbury from Leicester. What a delightful find! From the pretty setting on the tow path to the amazing food. As a veggie, this wonderful, unspoilt pub produced quality food we don’t often experience. By way of a challenge, the chef set himself the task of creating one of the hardest dietary specific dishes to make; a vegan, gluten free, raspberry frangipane tart. I tried it-it was stunning! Who knew something that good could be made with such difficult restrictions. The chef and the lady running the bar didn’t stop making sure their customers were well taken care of.

Doing the Warwickshire Ring we stopped here one night. We have been before and decided to go again even though there were a few other locals we hadn't tried before, we enjoyed it last time so why risk another place. Really lovely atmosphere in the restaurant area lies of friendly locals and a buzzing feel. Food is great for three money. 4 of us are for under £60 including drinks. Great portion sizes, seemed fresh and tasty. Left feeling full and glad we went again. Traditional in look so not a modern sleek place but if you want local pub this is the one to go to.

A pub which reminds me of canalside dining when I first did it 32 years ago. Boaters and locals happily chatting together, charming and pleasant staff, nothing fancy food or drinkwise, just traditional pub food and drink, but what they do is done really well. We had a home made Lasagne with a surprisingly lovely side salad (often it is literally just for appearances, but this had lots of tasty and crunchy ingredients in a glorious sweet dressing) and gooey cheese topped garlic bread. Amongst other things we had a normal chilli and a vegetarian chilli, both were delicious an enormous rack of ribs and Biscoff cheesecake which put a big smile on my face!!! Bill was smaller than I expected. I wouldn't hesitate to go back.

What a wonderful little canal side pub. We sat there in the sunshine against an idyllic background of water, ducks and canal boats. The food was home cooked and fabulous; the staff couldn’t have been nicer. When they found out it was my son’s 18th birthday, the chef came out to wish him his best, and offered us all complimentary desserts. However, the lunch was so big we couldn’t eat any more, so the waitress offered us a free drink instead: how kind are they! Genuinely warm and happy to welcome you in. Good canal side location and beer served was good. That was as good as it got. Service was slow and when it did arrive was poor. We had a party of three, 2 meals served, they obviously forgot the third meal. Realised the problem and order eventually appeared. Steak and Ale Pie with mash and peas. I had asked if the the dish came with flakey or shortcrust pastry. Told it was shortcrust it wasn't.It would hopefully have been better if it had been shortcrust the flakey pastry was as solid as a shoe sole. Awful. The meat was not too bad but the whole plate was swimming in a diluted gravy. Finally the mash. If it wasn't powered mash is did an excellent job of disguising itself as powdered mash. Awful. Had better school dinners and they would not have cost almost £12. Last time we stop at that pub.

Stopped off here for a drink after going for a long walk along the canal. On entering the pub I didn't receive a particularly warm welcome, there were locals stood at the bar with their drinks who made me feel uncomfortable as they saw me walk in, but just kept staring at me & didn't move to allow me to get to the bar. They continued to just stare at me & the bar tender didn't even say hello so I just quickly ordered a drink & was relieved to get back outside. Sitting next to the canal was lovely though, very peaceful. I sat reading a book in the sunshine & taking in the surroundings. Lots of people came & went, so it's obviously a popular pub.

The Two Boats is a nice clean pub that serves very good food. The Landlord, John, insists that it is a pub not a restaurant but he has had the brilliant idea of serving a ploughman's for two (£12.50). I've never seen that before. There are two bars, one dedicated to Sky Sports and the other with nice background music. The gardens are extensive and well kept and also have plenty of tables alongside the Grand Union Canal. This pub is popular with the locals who, like the staff, are very friendly and chatty. As a boater I find local knowledge a great asset. The real ales were also spot on. One point I would make is that they charge £1.20 for Soda and Ice, but when you see how many people come in and order it, you can see why. Despite that, this is a very nice comfortable pub with a great atmosphere.

A most disappointing meal - having to return my food to get heated up as was cold upon arrival. A while later, my "nuked" plate was returned and I managed to consume a portion of the fare before departing. This is a great pub. Really good pub food and a nice selection of beers. Two bars, one with TV sport and darts, the other with a bar area and plenty of tabled seating but it's not huge which is nice. We've been in a few times now passing two other pubs that are closer, which we've tried, but that just don't have the same atmosphere. It's how I think a proper pub should be, it's not trying to be anything other than a welcoming place with decent food and a range of good drinks. Really nice, genuinely friendly people running it too.

Superb steak pie meal. Well presented and very tasty. Good selection of food too. Good beer choices. Staff friendly. Large pub but plenty of quiet corners away from football on the tvs

Big thanks to the restaurant team at the manor, especially Michael, for ensuring a perfectly choreographed family lunch for 18. You couldn't have been more helpful or efficient.

We love this take away and go back time after time. Food is always hot and delicious with lots of meat in it. We wouldn’t go anywhere else!

A fascinating pub that we were told was once owned by Henry VIII and given to Catherine of Aragon on their divorce. Then owned by Magdalene College Oxford for hundreds of years. It’s certainly old with flagstone floors, lots of panelling and a no longer accessible secret passageway to the church across the road. Top that with decent beers, a short freshly cooked menu and friendly service
