Quite a while ago we did go there and the service and cakes were just all right. Back again to that place, which is called now The Wild Flower Cafe, we were amazed by the soups and quiche quality! Cool presentation too! Previously, my wife and I trained in Catering (France/UK) and worked in great places as well as Private Service (USA included) for twelve years, we know about quality. The service was very friendly and superb. Pot if tea for two generous too. A perfect 10 this time! What a holistic treat for the soul! Merci...

Took my mum and sister for lunch. Not enough staff to give good service.Lady at the till clearly not interested. I do not like leaving a negative review. but this was so awful. The 3 cream cakes we could not eat, past their best, we did say something nothing was done. The lunch was really bad, the jacket potato reheated watery prawns. Curry just a plate of sauce covered up with a poppadom, Quiche was the best choice made. This was a really bad lunch. Travelling up from Abbotsbury to have a special lunch, a total waste of money. Couldn't care less attitude.

Fantastic Christmas lunch booked at short notice due to being let down elsewhere! Probably quite fortuitous switch as meal, ambience and waiter Cosmo were all absolutely excellent. There was a small issue with the bill as didn't initially charge set Christmas menu price which is what we'd booked, apparently doesn't apply on a Saturday!?! Soon rectified when we explained that noone had told us this and it didn't appear on the pricing on the menu previously or on placing our booking/pre order. Thank you Bishopstrow (and Cosmo) for an excellent, relaxed, festive lunch. Ps the Hawkes Bay Rose by the glass was delicious 🍾💗

We were lucky enough to have pre lunch drinks on the terrace in brilliant sunshine. On a Sunday there is a choice of four dishes for each course. That is plenty of choice and mqkes life easier. The food was very good and a serviceable wine list. The staff are very helpful and efficient.

We had our wedding dinner for family and close friends followed by private party. The owners decorated the top room beautifully for the wedding breakfast with such attention to detail from the seating board to the tablet decorations. Their communication with the planning was second to none and they catered for everyone’s dietary needs. They made all the quests feel so welcome from locals and those who had traveled from miles to attend our special day. We would highly recommend this venue for any formal occasion.

I was hoping to grab a light bite or a sandwich but sadly we were unable to get any food as they were only serving meals that were priced more than £20. I visited the garden centre with my elderly relatives and had to take them elsewhere. This put a bit of a dampener on what was otherwise a lovely visit.

Read a lot of negative reviews about this place. It has changed, but in terms of a fish and chip shop it ticks all boxes. One size fish, One size chips is obviously their way of simplifying the menu. Fish was decent with crispy batter, nice chips. Good value also.

Took 30 minutes to get our first drink and about 45 minutes to get our food order, food was basic at best and my pizza was dry and just had pepperoni on it, very basic and not very nice. Finished food and they left our plates on the table for one hour, waited for 2nd round of drinks for over 45 minutes, at which point we asked for the bill due to the delay. The staff had a no care attitude, we’re totally disorganised and completely chaotic. When you come for a meal whilst being on holiday you expect professional standards and a restaurant to want their customers to have a nice time, neither applies in this case. Worst restaurant experience I’ve had in many years - avoid at all costs!!

I live locally-ish. Tortworth has options for different occasions and I love that. I really should go more often. Last night was dinner with an ex colleague. We’re foodies and want to enjoy what we are eating whilst we gossip. We arrived early, straight from work and first to be seated. We had a perfect window seat looking over the garden and those enjoying their summer drinks in the sun. Joseph/Joe was our server, who was young, helpful and very sweet. Attentive but not overbearing. Great recommendations and insights on what other guests thought of options. Pink Prosecco to celebrate a new job with some olives and artisan bread. Yum! I think my friend had pan fried cod on risotto but I can’t be too sure because I was lost in my grilled halloumi on giant couscous! Really hearty and light at the same time. We had a classic tiramisu but it was dressed with little biscotti, tiny pieces of meringue and fruit, that made it just a little bit different. Nice touch. We finished off in the bar next door with Paloma and a Mojito. Perfect evening, thanks Tortworth! Ps my condolences for Lady Grey she will be missed.
