Poor attitude towards customers. I went into the cafe and ordered a coffee. Paid for the coffee. Then I was told there is a 15minute wait. Manageress was called over to help with the refund. The girl at the till was nice but the manageress made me feel like it was my fault. They were busy she said. So how I am meant to know that? There were plenty of empty tables and I was the only person at the till! Apparently it is normal to wait 15minutes for your coffee. Really?

Please can you not charge vegans the same price as vegetarians. It’s not fair to switch out two forms of high value items (x2 eggs and halloumi) for cheap spinach. May I suggest switching them instead for: avocado, hashbrowns, grilled or scrambled tofu, vegan sausages. Anything but spinach - come on guys!!

Guy with long hair is amazing. The guy with ginger hair is weird. Creepy. And does nothing but insult his team. I noticed the long haired guy was visibly upset. If the team aren't being lead by a good leader, then it rubs off on the team. Really feel for the long haired guy, callum or Connor he was awesome sauce, guy with ginger guy I'd avoid, hopefully next time I come, he's not there.

So I posted this elsewhere, but I really feel so bad for that long haired guy something beginning with C, Charlie, Chris, I dunno his name or the chap with the ginger hair's name, but like seriously, that ginger haired guy needs more team building training or be let go, I felt awkward just looking on, how do you think your staff feel?, happy staff, makes for a much friendlier environment, i mean i feel put off coming back, cos like, i just hate seeing people who think they can go around, doing very little other than belittling their own team. I hope the C guy and the actual team get their voices heard because that's not fair or right. To be clear this isn't an attack on.ginger haired people, I actually like them, but that guy, I mean wow. We had never eaten here before only visited the garden centre, so thought this time we would pop in for a drink and something to eat. I wish I hadn’t to be honest. We got here at around 11:35 in which they have stopped serving breakfast but not serving until 12. So we decided to just have a cold drink and cake, ordered no problem everything was fine. 15 minutes after ordering we got our drinks, which was a cartoon of juice, bottle of apple juice and an ice tea, which was practically coloured water. We waiting another 5 minutes before asking where our cakes were, being met with ‘what cakes’ to our disbelief this was from the person who took the order. Waited for another 5 minutes and finally got our cakes. I feel like the price paid for what we had wasn’t worth the wait. Not usually one to make anything of it but just couldn’t believe how long we waited for what we had.

Struggled to see where the quality was to warrant the prices charged??? Waitress took it away and came back with what I wanted, a little later my friend ordered 2 iced teas!! what arrived was watery squash,,, not iced tea.. no Ice!!!to add insult to injury we waited over 10 mins for the tea... there seemed to be only 3 people in the cafe.. poor on all counts will not go there again.

Just to be clear the 5 stars are for the staff/food/service. The food in the restaurant was utterly delicious, well cooked and presented and the service from the staff was brilliant/faultless. For the staff/food I would happily give 5 stars and above! For the utter lack of air conditioning or fans in place for customers and staff in the restaurant and the garden center shop I would not give even 1 star!! We could not comprehend why the owners would not want to make their staff and customers more comfortable in the excessive heat we have had over the past few weeks. I sincerely hope the owners dip into their profits and invest in some air con/fans or even both!

The staff are unprofessional and the service, cleanliness and food quality served has been below acceptable for years. I only visit when my usual places like the Union Street Brasserie and Hamish Farm Shop aren’t available in the hope there’s new leadership. It’s always full of customers because of the Garden Centre it’s attached to so it has no reason to change. When I do visit maybe twice a year it’s always the same, busy and with some great ingredients, however, the kitchen leadership is the lowest I’ve come across and I eat out around Yeovil/Somerset/Dorset 4-5 times a week, from breakfast to the highest levels of fine dining. The vast majority of the time they make mistakes with the order or there’s already other customers complaining. A dirty kitchen/staff/tables is unacceptable. No apology or reply to this review would mean anything to me as I’ve considered my opinions over many visits across many years.

So a farmhouse breakfast, some very weak coffee and a sparkling water were over £12 this morning. I had hoped for something spectacular as I like the adjoining farm shop, but was woefully let down as two poached eggs (swimming in cooking water) were presented with one mushroom half a tomato, a sausage, two rashers of bacon and a thin slice of toast (see picture). The bacon and sausage were good quality but everything was poorly cooked and just plonked on the plate to swim in poaching water.

Service is error-strewn, attitude is arrogance and prices are over-inflated. Over the last year and particularly last 6 months we've hoped to see a turnaround but alas, the decline continues unchecked. We've gone off and on for over 5 years and it used to be a pleasure but has become increasingly unbearable. As just one example, one morning for breakfast we should have realised something was amiss when we were the lone, brave few who were prepared to endure slow, error-strewn service. I'm not a Monday nor a morning person either, but having asked for granary with our scrambled eggs we got white toast. Simple mistake but okay, so we asked for granary to go with the current order rather than send it back. Only after we'd finished our breakfast (one of our party had to simply eat the egg), it finally arrived. That's 20 mins for 2 butter-slathered slices of thin brown (not granary) toast - seriously, with no-one else around it took that long and they still got it wrong? So we asked if we could have a small scoop of jam for that person to at least have something with their toast. There was a clear commotion from the kitchen, apparently that order went down as badly as the new toast and so no jam. At all. So we left. Forever. Buyer beware, that breakfast was almost a fiver (without coffee) and we had to order it ourselves at the till so you pay before you get anything - wonder why? When they introduced self-service in the recent past, the prices never wavered and in fact went up? They expanded the cafe but not the staff? Previously I heard a gentleman with 4 in the party complain because every single order was wrong. All of it. The shabbily dressed regional manager (looking grubby in a knitted poncho and denims) fobbed him off with vouchers but still didn't correct the order? It's sad because in the past we enjoyed our time here, but all good things come to an end. There are better alternatives in the area, try those first.

We have stopped here for lunch before enroute from Surrey to Devon and enjoyed good food in a clearly popular restaurant. The restaurant has been extended but you order now at the till (staff reductions) and all five empty tables still had dirty crockery on them. Soup and half a sandwich (£6.95) was a tiny bowl of aggressively overheated green liquid (micro waved?) that took ages of stirring and blowing to get to safe eating temperature and a "dainty" sandwich that wasn't - thrown together in sliced day old bread. No salad or crisps to decorate the plate or bread to accompany the soup. This was just shoddy and hugely disappointing. Never again. Perhaps it was just a very bad day. Nobody asked if our meal was okay. perhaps they didn't care?

Today I decided to treat myself to a cooked breakfast, so went to Brimsmore. I know I can eat there as usually their gluten free food is good. The breakfast cost £7.95 for 2 eggs, 3 slices smoked bacon, one mushroom, one tomato, a small pot baked beans an one small slice of gluten free bread (of the Genius variety). Included in the price is a pot of tea or coffee. The breakfast was mostly well cooked apart from the bacon which had not been in a hot enough fry pan and consequently was of the partially boiled variety. The breakfast would have been very nice if it had been hot instead of luke warm. The service is slow (I guess because they supposedly cook to order), so by the time my breakfast arrived I was rather hungry. Will I have breakfast there again? No.

We initially visited the Apple Tree in February 2015 and had a fantastic visit. We've been back a few times since then, but not for a few months. We were in the area this past weekend (October 2016) and thought we'd stop by for some food. There has been some work done since our last visit. Half of the dining area is now an extension to the farm shop, and a new conservatory makes up the second half. Obviously mad a little on the cheap side, it had a bit of a sterile feel compared to the old dinning room. But apart from that it was satisfactory. We ordered our food that came quite quickly. The cappuccino was sadly luke warm and had to be drunk quickly. Not ideal as we were still waiting for the food. The big problem was with the cream teas. The scones and jam were fine, but there seems to be a big issue with the Roddas cream. Both of our pots of cream were really odd. They appeared powdery and dry. I know that Roddas cream has a crust on top, but this was not the crust. It almost looks like the cream had been frozen at some point and either been freezer burnt or left out. We requested replacement creams, but they were the same. I am sure they were probably safe to eat, but the graininess of it put us right off. I'm not a big fan of the Roddas cream pots anyway (there's never enough!) but having most of the pot dry and crumbly is just nasty. The other issue was with hygiene. My spoon was very dirty and stained, but that was nothing compared to the teapot my tea came in. (see attached photo). It was disgusting and appeared to not have been cleaned in a while, and most certainly not since it was last used. When we spoke to one of the staff about this they apologized and said it's been an ongoing problem. One would think this would prompt them to do something about that, but I guess not. They hinted that it was due to the busy season and seasonal staff, but in my opinion that's no excuse. When you spend your hard earned money on what I consider a special treat, you expect a certain standard regardless of how busy it is. It makes me wonder what other corners they are cutting. Overall a very disappointing visit. Although the staff were very friendly, I doubt we could visit the place again without having these issues in the back of our mind. We won't be rushing back.

The Apple Tree used to be a nice place to have a tasty meal. They have extended the space into a new conservatory....spoiling the cosy atmosphere and clearly over stretching themselves. We had to wait a long time for our food and when it came....I couldn't believe it! The food used to be good at The Apple Tree but this was very unattractive, unappetising and poor value for money. The prices have gone up too! What has happened to the relaxed and friendly atmosphere? The general feeling now is one of hectic pandemonium. While we were there, the young and largely inexperienced staff were rushed off their feet and seemed to spend their entire time apologising to irate diners. What a shame that a favourite place to eat has been spoilt.

I visited today with my two children 8 and 6, who were hungry for lunch. When we were sat, there was no mention of a wait, so I asked and was told there was a 25 minute wait. I ordered the kids meals and three hot chocolates. After approximately 25 minutes and no drinks, the waitress came over to say they had run out of hot chocolate. Why did they not tell me this when we ordered, even though they said the drinks would come out straight away.We left without any food and had to find somewhere else.Absolutely disgraceful.

I was taken here for a celebratory lunch.we sat in the new, still unfinished conservatory/shed. We ordered our food and drinks but I'd had to go hunting for a menu. I understood and was happy knowing that we would have to wait for our food as it was freshly prepared however I couldn't understand why it took so long for the drinks to arrive. I had a latte coffee and was extremely disappointed. It was hot but half coffee and half foam. I don't think the very young member of staff had done much training. The meal was enjoyable but certainly expensive for what is served. Extras are also quite pricey. Sorry but overall dissapointed, used to be a destination but not any longer.

Me and friend went here for coffee and cake but after seeing the menu we both decided on a Adam's savoury tea, and it was delicious, the cheese scones were warm and so tasty. Well worth the £5.95. The staff were friendly and the service was quick.

I was surprised by my experience at Brimsmore. I'Ve been a few times and it's always been a good mid-range place to go. Not quite up to its sister cafes at poundbury and castle gardens, but good. On arrival we found the specials board was not up to date, the soup wasn't as advertised. We queried something about the soup and were kindly given a ramekin of it to try. We were pleased by this.Service wa then slow and a bit muddled. We saw my meal being taken to anothe r table then back to the kitchen where it sat for at least 5 min before being brought to me with my husbands soup. It wasn't terribly warm as it hadn't been put on a hot plate and had been sitting around. While we were eating we were approached by a lady trying to sell raffle tickets - we had watched this happen to other diners. My husband wasn't pleased and informed her we were eating. She went to one other table and vanished into the garden centre. When my husband mentioned this to staff they had no idea someone had been doing this - we weren't convinced she was from a charity as there didn't seem to be official evidence of a charity. The staff hadn't noticed her. A few days later I visited again with friends and it was much better - they allowed us to have something off the breakfast menu at 1300. Much more typical of my experience there. Still not fantastic service, but better.

Living locally and visiting this restaurant regularly its disappointing that I have to report a bad experience this afternoon. Service has been rather flaky for some time as most of the staff seem to be passing through youngsters with little interest in the job and more interest in chatting among themselves. The problem this afternoon was that the Garden Centre had hosted a free garden talk which was very good and had handed out free drink vouchers that the restaurant serving staff had not been made aware of. As a result there was a rush to the restaurant after the talk when there were only two staff on (possibly a third on break / elsewhere who arrived later after the rush had died down). The staff not anticipating this had not seen the order customers had arrived in and started trying to take orders out of sequence. After orders had been taken from two tables a couple who were there before we arrived got up and walked out un-served. A further couple were totally ignored and also walked out. Not good to lose four paying customers in 10 mins. I was asked at the till if everything was ok. I was truthful but not scathing as I could see the member of staff had been having a rough time. They did admit they knew nothing of the talk / vouchers. Having observed the situation through out I would say this was a management failing not the fault of the serving staff. There was no apparent front of house person in charge keeping an eye on things and the lack of information to serving staff about the talk and free drinks vouchers was a total failure in communication. The food and drink has always been good so please Brimsmore get your service sorted out!

This establishment, within a smart garden centre, markets itself as high end promoting quality local products and produce, with the prices to match. Unfortunately the experience doesn’t quite match. We waited quite a long time to be served, the staff looked very busy, but shouldn't have been really with, what appeared to be, a high staff to table ratio. The menu was confusing, with various parts stopping and starting at different times. The person who took the order wasn't welcoming , she didn't appear to want to be there. Our waiter only seemed capable of carrying one plate at a time , which was odd. Though the food was delicious our sausage was over cooked. This restaurant has great ideas and the potential to really stand out. Unfortunately the overall impression wasn't great.

Having been ignored for ten minutes by several teenage waiting staff in a relatively quiet cafe, and having to go to the counter only to be told by a slightly surly waitress that I needed to wait at my seat for someone to take my order, I was horrified when my six year old found a dead bluebottle under the cream of her milkshake. The manageress was at pains to explain that they have a five star hygiene certificate and provided a second shake to replace it. My partner was offered vouchers for a return visit which he took but will remain unused as we won't be back. Having observed the quality of food delivered to other tables and the prices charged here I wouldn't go back.

Had tea, soft drinks and slice of cake. My wife has brought groups here successfully in the past so gave it a try. Just a quick snack and drink before visiting garden centre.

I attended this establishment on Saturday with Parents, My Mum is Gluten Free and this seems to be the only place we can go in Yeovil that has a varied Option for Gluten Free. The Coffees that we ordered arrived Cold and the Girls looked confused as the Glass was warm however when you took a sip it was cold. The food was also Cold and had a delay coming out although there wasnt a lot of People in the Restaurant. Other then that a Pleasurable visit.

Have just sat in your cafe for 10 minutes waiting to be served while four young girls chatted at the counter. Although two of them walked past me at my table none took my order. After the 10 minutes I got up and left and one of them asked if she could help me. I said no which promoted a burst of laughter at my retreating back.I am receiving chemotherapy at the moment and this was my trip out for the day. I was really upset and didn't have the energy to go elsewhere.

We called in for lunch on Wednesday 4th November 2015. We both ordered the bubble and squeak from the specials board. It was great to taste this dish again having not really had it since I was a small boy in the early 1950's when we were going through real austerity without benefits. The meal was well prepared and tasty topped with bacon and poached eggs. The service was slick, efficient and friendly and I would certainly recommend this for a lunch stop.It seemed to get quite busy at the peak of the lunch hour period, obviously a popular venue, so suggest that arrival for lunch is best as close to noon as possible.

Had lunch here today. Very busy, in fact people were being turned away as no more room! Must be at least twelve months since I last visited and found it average but was persuaded to revisit today. So glad I went, friendly but busy staff, delicious food and lovely farm shop with local produce by the restaurant. Very impressed.

We had 2 breakfasts but neither were very hot. It was busy and we never got checked on. When the food is not hot and the service not great it frustrates me as weve had some good meals here so maybe depends on whos in the kitchen that day.

The Lord Nelson is our local so an easy choice for a family get-together to celebrate our ruby wedding anniversary. We had a table for 20 and took over the skittle alley which doubles as a function room. Everyone attending had a great time and the pub and staff received lots of compliments. They are all extremely friendly and professional, and Mark’s food is excellent. Not sure we’ll make the skittles team though!

Best gammon that me and the missus has ever had. Nice buttery roasties and plenty of vegetable options. Plenty of seating and car parking spaces. Nice large outside area for summer time food and drink. Staff were friendly and reasonably priced food. Downside was that the carpets needed a really good clean, but I'm sure that this will be seen too in the not too distant future.

Christmas dinner party and there were at least 2 other parties there too. Staff were lovely. Food ok only critisism was my parsnip wasnt cooked enough, but considering they were catering for 50+ people I think they did very well. Thank you for a very enjoyable evening. Just 1 more thing..... please wipe the tables with something that does not leave a sticky residue.
