Airfield Tavern Table Table in South Somerset

This place is always empty and always get turned away even when the restaurant is empty! When you do get a table the service is excruciatingly slow, with overpriced terrible food. The waiting staff always get the order wrong and are very unapologetic. Bad food, poor beer, overpriced and poor service

Not the great time here, waited ages to be served and the pub only had a few customers. The cook wasn’t cooked properly and the light above was just bizarre. Staff were friendly so that’s something positive

We had a booking for father’s Day at 12.15 we get there a bit early as we don’t live near, got there about 11.50am as we was going to wait and have a drink. We went in and got a very rude and Sharp lady. We explain we was bit early and was going to get a drink and sit down if that was ok, she snapped back at us and said we are not serving as we are still clearing up after breakfast and you will just have to wait outside till 12pm (10mins) I thought this was very rude and the lady could see that I was struggling to stand as I’m disabled. Any way we waited outside till 12 and went back in we explained that we was 15mins early and will wait inside to when she said well you just have to wait over there till your time. I’m sure the table was ready and we could sit down a bit early as they had only just started dinners. My husband was upset at the way we got treated and wanted to go somewhere else for father Day, so we left. The pub times doesn’t State it closes and reopens at 12pm anywhere .

I was a Londoner visiting relatives in Yeovil. From my home in a very ordinary part of London, I could walk to half a dozen places to eat in minutes and get a better meal than what was served up at the Airfield Tavern. I will just deal with my choices, though my family fared no better. Starter. "Nachos" - my mistake, are CRISPS. Served with a dollop of sour cream, I managed a mouthful or so, Main. Beef and ale pie, chips and peas. I had to SAW my way Into the pie, heated up, utterly unappetising. Chips and peas heated up. I declined to sample a dessert, and just had a weak, cheap-tasting coffee. The restaurant is attached to hotel (one of a chain), so many diners are a captive audience. I doubt it has any cook/chef, let alone one that takes pride in their work. I cannot imagine any eatery in countries such as France, Italy, Spain, etc having the nerve to serve up such substandard food. I've had a better meal with a "Meal-for-one" from cheap supermarkets. Oh, and some items were unavailable (fish and chips?), the decor was 1950s, and the carpet, uncleaned for decades, was sticky. AVOID!

Unfortunately the food is very disappointing, ordered a sirloin steak medium rare but was given a well done steak, asked for a new one and was given a well done rump steak instead, won’t ever be going back. Staff were friendly enough though

I walked in to a deserted place and approached a sign saying 'wait here to be seated' someone appeared from the shadows. Instead of being greeted in a civil and friendly manner I was curtly asked if I had booked. I replied that I had not booked and would like breakfast, I was then asked whether I required a cooked breakfast or the continental option. I was expecting to be shown to a table and given a menu so that I could decide what to order. To my amazement I was then told that I would have to order and make the payment before I would be permitted to go through the door to the dining area. I rapidly made the choice to go through the door I had just entered through and went to a nearby garden centre that has a very nice, efficient restaurant and treats their customers with respect and consideration. This is not the first time that I have received disgusting unprofessional treatment by the Airfield Tavern but it will certainly be my last.

Booked a table for 6.30pm for 4 adults and 1 child. We were told there was a delay on food but no time given. Starters came out fairly quickly. Main meals did not arrive until 8pm!! Some were warm not hot and others far too hot to eat, we didn’t complain as we just wanted to eat. No apology given. The place was quiet with very few tables occupied. No excuse for poor and slow service.

Chose Airfield Tavern for a family lunch as they provide comprehensive information as to dietary requirements. We were asked immediately on booking in whether we had any such requirements. Our server, Irenya, was very attentive ensuring that we had everything we needed. The food was enjoyable but have to say that the brownie was gorgeous!

We regularly have Sunday lunch which is good value, well cooked and sufficient portion sizes. Staff are very pleasant and obliging.

Always have a lovely welcome when we go there for ladies lunch!! We have been coming to this restaurant for many years for our catch up with friends. Never disappoints!!!

Forgot how good The Airfield Tavern was,not visited for a few years but very glad my family & I did Great service from Iryna nothing was too much trouble, great atmosphere & food & drink was very tasty ,Will definitely be going back again at some point...can't wait ☺️

I thought the food was child size ordered burger and chips when arrived, there were ten chips, the burger was small with a teaspoon of coleslaw, it was cold but as we had waited 15 minutes to be told to sit in bar then another 40minutes our food I was not going to send back The drinks were decent if a little over priced and dessert was pre set ( had to have one as so hungry) Not worth the food neither were the staff If you do visit eat elsewhere

A great breakfast deal. All you can eat for a very exceptional price. Served by the most friendly and happy server. Knowledgeable, professional and very delightful banter. Made the visit rate from great to, brilliant. I think the servers name was Charlene (?) Will I go again ?...most definitely. All in all, a marvelous well prepared and well delivered breakfast. Thank you. Started the day on the right footing.

Brilliant breakfast we all had the full English and a vegetarian breakfast (sausage &bacon are fab!) and continental lovely selection of toast, crumpets pancakes, muffins, croissants etc nice through cappuccino and selection of fruit juices cereal yogurt fruit etc. staff are so happy and always checking everything’s ok and if you want or need anything extra. Will definitely be back

Absolute shambles of a restuarant! Would give no stars if I could. Waiting an hour and a half for food, in a half empty restaurant is a bit pathetic. We asked for our started after 50 minutes and they miraculously turned up less than a minute later (stone cold) waiting another 40 minutes for the mains and ended up paying for our starters and drinks to then be told our mains were just about to be served (conveniently) needless to say we did not accept this and left. Would not recommend.

Went here for a family meal on a Wednesday night. Staff were very friendly and cheerful, interacting wonderfully with our young girls. Food was very tasty and good size portions (can't speak about dessert as we were too stuffed to eat any!) All in all a great experience and would visit again and recommend to others.

Had our starter, then had to wait another 50 minutes for our main meal. When I asked what the problem was, was told Mother's Day is their busiest day of the year and they were sort staffed. The kitchen wasn't keeping up with the orders. Not as good as it used to be a couple of years ago. Not sure if I would give it a go again. Very disappointing experience.

Ordered my breakfast with my 2 wonderful children and bought the unlimited breakfast option foreseeing that we could have as much meaty goodness as one can get. Our server who was actually quite friendly who appeared to fill in our order apparently didn't do so...

A huge pub. We had a function here and despite having booked it they only had one bartender serving so we had a huge queue. Otherwise everything was great.

Went in for breakfast and dinner for 2 days,, food was above average but the staff were fantastic, gave time for the kids to ask their 100 questions and after explaining they were short staffed on a very busy valentines morning left not even the slightest hiccup in service, really great and well done. Char and Iryna really made the difference.

Following a cremation in Yeovil crematorium the Airfield Tavern offered a perfect venue for the Wake. They provided excellent service, brilliant food and a perfect room for the family to gather. Opening a Tab at the bar helped to provide drinks as required rather than having to buy in bulk. I can highly recommend the Airfield Taven as a meeting place for whatever the occasion.

Went for breakfast. All you can eat food was OK. Main problem being decore. Sticky tables, sofas with foam uncovered, total disgrace and absolute hygiene risk.

Myself and my two children booked for breakfast at table table during half term. We were looking forward to this as we rarely spend quality time together due to work and school commitments. On arrival instead of being welcomed we were left waiting for around 5 mins with nobody acknowledging us. When we were "greeted" we were abruptly told "we are not taking in walkings" to which I replied we are booked and staff member Charlene replied with "well still, I can check with the chef but the wait is over 30 mins!". The chef had said yes but "only for items already cooked and nothing else" . Our booking was at 1015 and breakfast supposedly closed at 11am. Charlene had also told us we had to order straight away... This was now around 1020. She advised that as my son is 14 we need to bring in ID next time. She also stated the continental breakfast was being shut down at 1030. We had only 10 mins to get what we wanted. Obviously from the offset we felt unwanted and rushed. This was a very poor experience. I also overheard others stating how rude Charlene was to them when they asked for help with the coffee machine.

char with chef diana are a knockout breakfast team......so quick and efficient....i was so impressed when char brought me a pot of mustard....which i,d asked for on a previous visit....best breakfast in yeovil.....thanks to the morning staff

Recently went to this pub for food, asked if food was available as pub was empty. Response yes we're doing food but we have gathering coming in so there would be a wait for food not what you want to hear when the pubs empty. So left without eating, probably won't return as you didn't want my business.

Where do I start. Had pre booked the table for 6pm, got there before but still weren't seated until after 6, the waitress did warn us of a wait on food, 30-45 minutes, I could live with that. The atmosphere felt like everyone was quietly disappointed with their experiences, I could hear complaints from another table as well. Ordered drinks, took 20 mins and they didnt have half of the cocktails due to not having any tequila!?!? Also the waitress couldn't tell us what WAS available without going to the bar to check, food took over an hour! The way this restaurant is run is all wrong, the chef needs to be sacked as it seems he/she can only cook 1 meal at a time. I had a smothered platter which was literally a gammon steak and breaded mini chicken fillet with a slice of cheap cheese melted on top. The steak, I don't know what cut it was from the cow, but it was INEDIBLE!! I couldn't even push my fork through it. Terrible. Very very poor, and, on top of all that, for a family of 4, with 20% discount on food, it still cost over £65!!! I'm stunned. I would highly recommend you don't choose this place as you will be very disappointed.

Not a good experience.. booked a table for MIL 86th birthday treat as we've eaten there before and everything was lovely. No greeting at front of house, server rushed on ahead while we had to try and catch up to see where she was seating us. Ordered drinks and asked for some table water as well, drinks arrived but never received table water even after prompting . Food arrived chips luke warm, chicken was tough. Lasagne and garlic bread was cremated. Didn't get offered any condiments so asked and server mumbled something, returned with sauce sachets on plate. Didn't get asked if we would like more drinks or if everything was ok. Tried to get servers attention when we saw them but blanked. Server came to clear plates and we explained we weren't happy. Tried to explain we would have spent more money by having pudding and more drinks if they where more attentive, but we waited long enough & just wanted to get out of there quick. She said bear in mind there is only 3 servers here today. Trying to deflect by stating that, does not warrant sloppy service. She went of to speak to manager and returned telling us they would deduct the drinks £8. No verbal apology offered from them, so they obviously don't want customers to return. Staffing levels need to reflect bookings and vica versa, A smile from a couple of the servers & good eye contact (especially the lady in the suit) ,wouldn't have gone amiss either..

Regular visitors until covid. Came last year, food and service was poor. Left it a year and visited last night 19/1/24, nothing has changed! Waited an hour for food, 20mins for drinks! When food arrived the chips were cold and soggy. Fish had been refried. We wont be back until they change the chef. Sorry! Shame , as its walking distance from the house. area manager, what the hell are you doing about it?
