I live locally-ish. Tortworth has options for different occasions and I love that. I really should go more often. Last night was dinner with an ex colleague. We’re foodies and want to enjoy what we are eating whilst we gossip. We arrived early, straight from work and first to be seated. We had a perfect window seat looking over the garden and those enjoying their summer drinks in the sun. Joseph/Joe was our server, who was young, helpful and very sweet. Attentive but not overbearing. Great recommendations and insights on what other guests thought of options. Pink Prosecco to celebrate a new job with some olives and artisan bread. Yum! I think my friend had pan fried cod on risotto but I can’t be too sure because I was lost in my grilled halloumi on giant couscous! Really hearty and light at the same time. We had a classic tiramisu but it was dressed with little biscotti, tiny pieces of meringue and fruit, that made it just a little bit different. Nice touch. We finished off in the bar next door with Paloma and a Mojito. Perfect evening, thanks Tortworth! Ps my condolences for Lady Grey she will be missed.

We stayed the night in the Hotel and had dinner. In was beautifully presented and good choice of menu. I had scallops to start and lamb as a main. Would highly recommended both. Portion size is very substantial and food was served in a good time. It’s also a lovely setting for the restaurant

This made a lovely change to have Sunday lunch at this fabulous restaurant and hotel. Very good value especially as it was part of a Black Friday deal. Besides the good deal, sitting there taking in the view of the grounds and surrounding area makes this a special venue. Service was very good, quick with our server Luke being very polite and helpful with our queries. The chefs did a great job as the food was delicious.

Took my friend here for her 50th birthday meal, messaged the restaurant before to ask for a candle in a birthday dessert or anything like. Arrived on time and waited an hour for our meal. A cat was wandering around the restaurant! And I am allergic to cat hair! No one offered water for our table. Our meal came before our drinks. No mention of birthday dessert when we ordered dessert. No one came to check if we wanted anything. Very strange set up. Then got the hump when I paid the bill with no service charge. No one served us!

We booked this restaurant as part of our stay at Tortworth Court and this was definitely the highlight. We had the duo of pork and ham hock bon bons for starter - the bon bons were nothing like I’ve had before, so tasty! They had specials on for mains which we both had, I had steak which was cooked to perfection! We also had free dessert complimentary which was a nice touch! Would definitely visit the restaurant again, just a shame we wouldn’t stay.

Grounds stunning in keeping with property. Food poor standard. Breakfast chaotic at best, no fresh coffee only machines, toaster not fit for purpose, buffet self service (one would expect cooked breakfast at price point) powdered scrambled eggs, cheapest white sliced bread you can buy! etc etc No cushions on outdoor seating. All in all pretty disappointing for a De Vere hotel.

Booked the venue on line which wa seasy and straight forward for a business meeting in the Resteraunt for 3 people. The venue is classy and historic with a nice relaxing feel . the service though was very slow. The food is good although pricey. £15 for a Prawn cocktail, although this had salmon, mussels and fish eggs so not the straight forward one . steaks are £30 , sea bass £25 no sides included at 35 each on average. Service charge of %10 percent automatically added to bill, no mention of it being optional. The venue is impressive and is nice if you want a classy venue,

Food and staff excellent and recommended. BUT, while waiting to pay I saw the computer the staff were using. I have NEVER seen a keypad so dirty. I mentioned to the staff that they should not be using the computer in that state due to germs, but they did not seem to take much notice. So hotel management - time to ensure that you have clean computers and not just hand gel!

It was my Mums 90th birthday so I took her and my two daughters for what I thought would be a special treat for afternoon tea 8th December. We were seated but had quite a long wait for our order to be placed and then prepare our order. When our tea arrived it was so disappointing. No homemade cakes, just bite sized party food(Iceland supermarket style)and four soggy microwave sausage rolls The finger sandwiches of sliced Kingsmill with processed cheese and processed turkey were petty awful . A pot of tea was served but we had to find someone to give us a cup!!! We had to use the same plates for the scones as we’d used for our he sandwiches. As I didn’t want jam and cream I asked for some butter but was brought a packet portion of sunflower spread. The staff seemed inexperienced and there was no acknowledgment or mention that it was Mums special day For £135 the whole experience was really poor and disappointing. Not what one would expect from Tortworth Court

Went here on the evening of 3/4/2020Food was fantastic, I had the Broccoli and Stilton soup to start, it was very tasty. For main. I chose the beef. It was beautiful! My partner has a Scallops to start, these were seasoned well and nicely cooked, he then had the duck for his main and really enjoyed it. The restaurant is busy but it’s well managed. One rude waiter, who unfortunately we didn’t get his name. The rest of the staff are great though. They seem to work all hours under the sun as they’re there for the breakfast shift too. For the hours they seem to work, they’re doing a great job!

This was the worst Christmas lunch we have ever encountered. The food had obviously been bought in and heated up in a microwave. The potatoes were lifeless and warmed up. ..no crispy roast potatoes here. The carrots and broccoli were blanched at best , the brussels sprouts were under cooked (and this should be a key area of quality re Christmas dinner). The vegetarian option was nothing more than microwaved stodge, puff pastry supposedly a wellington was more like a mud pudding. The Christmas pudding turned out to be a cheesecake Christmas pudding i.e. a cheesecake with raisins. We would have got a better deal and quality at Asda. It has put us off ever eating food in a De Vere's chain in the future. This restaurant is clearly trading on the hotel location and decor and not much else, a wasted opportunity for such a beautiful setting.

On the server were four scones with cream and jam, fine there were four small sandwiches ok, but the cakes were obviously stale, they were crumbled at the edges, hence they had been handled a number of times. the whole presentation looked tatty and old and all for £56??? rip off.

Visited as part of a hotel stay for daughter’s 18th, the room is impressive in a slightly dated 1990s meets country house kind of way. Fake candles and grandma does posh vibe. We were ignored to begin with then shown to our table. Then ignored some more. Sullen waiters then took orders and delivered efficiently. Pleasant enough but for the price it really isn’t a great experience. Having booked a birthday experience we had to remind the waitress. Eventually we got a chocolate thing in a board with our bill. Good selection of cereal and lovely orange juice. The coffee was hot and nice and the peppermint tea came in a good size pot. The croissants were delicious which made me have two and my husband had the cooked breakfast all of which was well cooked hot and tasty. Dinner the first night was well served and not rushed the chicken and apricot terrine was lovely as was the chicken and thyme main course . Wine selection was not vast but adequate. The second night the restaurant was packed and the staff seemed to be on the light side for the number of people but I have to say they did a fabulous job . We had booked two nights away at the Tortworth Court Hotel, having stayed here two years ago and what a disappointment compared to our previous stay. The restaurant was busy both nights with couples, large and small groups, but there were a lot of disgruntled people with the quality of the food being served. There seemed to be a lot of burgers and fish and chips served on both nights to some of the groups, who seemed to have the same menu both nights we were there. So much so the smell of fish and chips on a Sunday night was a little off-putting. It takes a lot for me to complain, but both nights were disappointing and food had to be either sent back or not finished. The Wendy Martinson's Salad left a lot to be desired having been priced at £15!!!!! for a Main, consisting of a small bowl of squashy overripe large tomatoes and some rotten cherry tomatoes, a few leaves and a funny tasting buffalo mozzarella or was it avocado?? - I don't think the waiter knew what it was he was serving. That was the first night ruined. Second night consisted of a warm fishcake starter that was stone cold on the inside and two DOUBLE PEPPERONI pizzas. They had 11 wafer thin pieces of pepperoni on top of each, neither had much taste and certainly did not rate as even a SINGLE PEPPERONI. The Cheese and Biscuits both nights made up for the earlier mishaps. Breakfast was okay as it always is with plenty to choose from, however a couple behind us one morning ordered two omelettes with the restaurant manager, but after 25 minutes they had not arrived, only to be told by a waiter that went to check in the kitchen for them, that it had not been put through!! - Needless to say their conversation was not very complementary. When it came to check out, there was only us checking out and a separate larger queue forming to complain about the evening food. This does prove a point.

We had a window table with view over grounds and lake. The service was friendly and prompt. A reasonable selection of three courses. I had crispy duck with wilted Asian greens (yummy); cod on roasted beetroot (very nice) followed by orange/cumin creme brulee.

Visited here for dinner on 11/09 during a walking holiday. Nice decor and welcoming staff. I had a pint of Gem, and was able to use (their only) beer jug! Wine list was good and the pinot blush was approved by my partner. Starter portions were good, the pork bites were very nice as was the Bruschetta, then I had the burger and she had the Gnocchi. Both were good sized portions and very tasty! It was so friendly we popped back for a pint the following lunchtime and were recognised as soon as we walked in!

The 3 of us had the two course Sunday Roast. The roast was good and the service was prompt. All in all quite a reasonable meal.

although the building looks run down and the shop out dated, the food is quite fresh tastes ok and is reasonably priced, however besides one blonde lady the staff are rude and quite short. they are supposed to close at 4 but normally are closed by about 3:50. the donut selection is random I never know what they will or wont have id go greggs if it was closer
