Beautiful pub, extremely friendly staff who go beyond and above with the service they provide. Amazing food, drinks, atmosphere, everything! The wonderful chef provided my young daughter with some cucumber, carrot and pepper sticks whilst myself and my partner enjoyed our dinner. Will most definitely be returning. Recommend highly for a lovely calm vibe, great food and a perfect outing!

This was our first meal at the fox den, we went for Sunday dinner, we enjoyed roast dinner. I had the lamb shank and added pigs in blankets. Very delicious food, the roast potatoes were stunning. Friendly staff and manager Ben, we will be back!

Food and service was good just a bit chilly for sitting comfortably for a meal.

I made a reservation in August 2024 for my birthday lunch celebration January 2025; 4 months notice. Upon arrival, I was asked if I would change to a different table. I said no because I chose my tables in August. Our reservation was 12.30pm. The waitress who took our food order got the quantities wrong and had to walk away and return (10 minutes later) to double check. My husband amended her errors. Drinks were promptly served apart from enough water glasses to accompany the water jugs. Frequent requests for more water glasses to accompany the jugs of water were ignored. Non alcoholic cocktail orders were declined on the basis that my nieces were under 18. We did request NON ALCOHOLIC COCKTAILS! At 2.15pm, I asked where our food was? My family had travelled 3 hours and had 3 hour return journeys home. I requested that they please get on with our food orders. Other tables that arrived after us were served before us. At 2.45pm, the food started arriving. I ordered roast beef which was rare, as requested. But the parsnips were woody and inedible. My niece ordered the Aubergine gratin; she said it was “hard”. There was a mixture of feedback about the food from my family. But I think we were all fed up with the waiting and lack of service. To say that my birthday lunch was ruined by the incompetent staff is an understatement. The occasion can’t be lived again – the precious moment in time has gone and there is nothing the Fox Den can do to undo my disappointment. Suffice to say that we shall never return nor can I recommend the venue to anyone anymore.

Be afraid. I didn’t think places this bad existed any more. Desperately in need of new management and a chef as well as a visit from EH if the prawn starter was anything to go by. Understaffed and you could see they were struggling. Something is deeply wrong. Nice little building though - could be lovely.

I may be a bit unfair here but I thought the food was ok, not great but not poor. Looking at other people's meals not just mine it was ok. I think I'm old fashioned because the waiter was dressed worse than a homeless guy. Black trousers and white shirt may be dated now but staff should be recognisable from customers.

Good booking process on the website, good service and food. Only downside was that the restaurant was very cold. Appreciate it was probably the coldest evening this winter.

Popped in Xmas eve for a meal to be told no food was available as tables were being set for Xmas day!! Welcomed into the nearby Beefeater and had a gorgeous meal with friendly attentive staff

The staff were very friendly and welcoming. However, the 'root vegetable Wellington' that I ordered was barely warm in the middle, although the roast vegetables were hot. When I took it back I was offered a choice of having it warmed up or 're-made' - I opted for the 're-made' route. However, the second one was also barely warm in the middle and the vegetables were volcanic but rather dried out. A shame as the Wellington tasted good, but I didn't want to eat a lukewarm meal that hadn't been either properly re-heated or had been hanging around and left to go cold.

Really great food and service. Burger was outstanding, as was the lasagne. Vanilla cheesecake was the perfect ending. However there was a guy playing live music that kind of ruined the vibe as we had to kinda shout to have a conversation at the dinner table. I understand there’s a bar and a restaurant seperately, but the dude was set up in between the 2 so it drowned out all conversation. He then ended his set and 2 ladies (drunk customers) got on the microphone and just started making an awful racket. So much so that it was all you could hear as the rest of the place went silent in disgust. I had to ask the waiter to tell them to stop. Turns out he’d had 4 complaints before actually doing anything

Used to come here regularly but this place has gone way downhill and won’t ever be back. Awful service from the start taking 20 minutes to serve us a drink and take our food order. Then took nearly an hour for the starters to come out. When the main course arrived they had replaced my wife’s beef Wellington with a veggie option. When we raised this they said they had run out of the beef so they just hoped she wouldn’t notice. In the end my wife didn’t have a main course as she didn’t want to wait another hour for it to arrive. The rest of us ate our mains but they weren’t great, it’s a bit off putting when you have green chips on your plate. No apologies for the delays or the fact that my wife didn’t even eat. Not even an offer to take something off the bill as compensation. You couldn’t pay me to go back here.

Food was lovely, well presented and generous portions. Service was timely and it was a nice atmosphere. Our first time eating out on Christmas Day and we will definitely be doing it again.

After about half an hour after we had ordered, we were told there were no potatoes to go with the turkey dinner. The food was nothing special, but top prices charged. We were given the dessert menu with about 6 options. When the waitress came for our order, she told us 2 of them were unavailable. We had gift vouchers to pay the bill but couldn't split the bill between our 2 vouchers. Waitress was very lack lustre. Almost £4 for a draft soda water is scandalous!

This is the second year we have been to the fox den for a Christmas meal with work friends and this year was the best. The menu has been seriously improved and although there was a little wait for food (just due to busyness and few staff), Owen was amazing and really worked hard to make the evening great. The festive menu was delicious with heaps of food. It was fantastic value and incredibly tasty. I wouldn’t do a review normally but I was impressed with the staff and the food.

Had the festive menu, after a very long wait, thought because the food was preordered we wouldn't have to wait so long. Wish the sprouts were cooked longer, and potatoes with the sea bass weren't cooked. Was compensated for this though. Enjoyed the puds.

Can't really give a review on food as we couldn't get served. It was 6pm not busy only about 20 people in there at the most. They were putting signs up to say the pub was closing at 8pm for maintenance work. Which was fair enough. But we were turned away. Your loss and our gain as we found a lovely welcoming pub up the road and the food was amazing. I suggest ringing this pub or the holiday in first to find out if they are serving. It's a shame as pub just across the road and no need to drive could of had a few drinks

Disappointing visit 😕 Booked for 11 people (work's Christmas lunch). Sadly the Festive menu was not available that day although we had pre-ordered and paid deposits. There were apparently kitchen staff issues. Pub temperature was cold. A couple of the team wore their coats throughout the meal ☹️ Food was ok (soup and calamari were not hot enough). It was not what we were expecting and expensive. We weren't contacted in advance of the changes to the menu but arrived to a message on the door. The waitress and waiter tried their very best but food was slow coming out and we were an hour later leaving than we had expected. Obviously something had gone very wrong which is unfortunate but we had spent a lot on our once a year Christmas celebration. All in all not a very good experience 😕

What a lovely surprise! Choice of grim chain pubs in the area. This one looked the most promising and we were wowed!! Lovely service from friendly staff, cosy table by an open fire - really tasty food at a great price. Aubergine bake was delicious. If you’re in the area try it!

Meals were good, we all had something different so not good for your chef! Unfortunately my roast potatoes were almost inedible. Rubbery & too tough to cut/eat. Staff were AMAZING. it was so evident you were desperately short staffed too. It was a little upsetting for our grandchildren waiting so long between courses though. November 2024. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT. Family meal not good at all. My roast was hardly tepid, I could hardly cut my roast potatoes... despite stabbing them hard! My grandaughter even used her finger to tear one apart for me! Waited almost an hour from arrival to receiving meal. Big delay between each family member receiving their meals. After this experience we will not return...sadly.

I stopped in solo around 18:30 on a Sunday night. It wasn’t very busy. The service was so slow and lacking and it really let the experience down. My drink order was taken quickly but the food took ages to come. None of the staff offered another drink, checked in on the food etc. This is a chain so the food is pretty standard wherever you go. On the whole it was really tasty and enjoyable. I had the sticky chicken, Sunday roast trio and the crumble. All of which were good and I’d recommend. I wouldn’t come back here though. When you’re eating solo a nearly 2.5 hour dining experience is just a bit too long to wait.

Sadly the experience wasn't great, very slow service when they were not busy, we were put on a dirty table, the chef was on the table next to us in a laptop. My husband enjoyed his food very much and mine was nice even through I had to wait for another portion of chips as my original one was dropped. One staff member was very rude when I asked for some ketchup. The other server was lovely. The 4 star for the food was purely because my chicken was dry and my mums food was a little on the cold side. The ambiance of the building is amazing it is such a fabulous building.

It was our first visit to The Fox Den. Very nice cosy pub. We received a very warm welcome from Ben, the manager, and were well looked after throughout by Eva (apologies if I have your name wrong). Food was really good and I like the wide selection of drinks. Pub had a really nice atmosphere.

I had an amazing dining experience Fox Den! Our server, Will, was absolutely fantastic. They were attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was perfect. I’ll definitely be coming back and highly recommend asking for Will when you visit—they really made the experience special!

Had Boxing Day lunch there which was 1st class. The Fox Den is a bit of an enigma depending on who is in charge. One minute dreadful next brilliant. At the moment its brilliant.

I order online from UberEats. The foot is always great but the gravy almost always spills during travel (other places prevent this with better packaging). Nobody likes a dry roast!

Very disappointing experience at this pub. When I asked for a table for two, the waitress was incredibly blunt and rude, which made us feel unwelcome from the start. The pub wasn’t even half full since it was a weekday, yet we were turned away. Later, we found out that it was possible to book a table online for the same timeslot. The staff’s attitude was terrible, and overall, it was a frustrating experience. I would give zero stars if I could. I definitely wouldn’t recommend this place. DO NOT GO TO THIS PUB

Friday 1st November. My wife & I were staying in the Holiday Inn Express next door for two nights. The hotel is a few miles from central Bristol with limited restaurant choices nearby. Therefore this seemed a good choice for an early dinner on arrival and probably for a repeat visit the next evening after a day in Bristol. We booked for 6.30 pm and arrived a few minutes early. We were quickly shown to our table and our drinks order was taken and served promptly. We ordered our first and main courses and the first course was quickly served and was fine. After waiting for over an hour for our main courses we decided to pay for what we had received and leave. While waiting at the bar to pay the waitress passed by with our main courses. She offered to box them up to take away but as it was nearly 8pm we decided to sit down again and eat them. My wife's fish was cold, gey, dry and inedible. The breadcrumbs on the bottom of my chicken schnitzel were burnt and the chicken dried out. In both cases the fries were cold and inedible. It was obvious that the meals had been plated-up, left to stand on a hot plate and forgotten, probably for the full hour we were waiting. The waitress offered, without me asking, to deduct the price of the main courses from our bill. It was not particularly busy but the staff seemed unable to cope as the couple on the table next to us were also become agitated at the slow service. The following night we went to the Beefeater next to the Premier Inn.

Came to visit this place for the third time, but first time after a few years. Last couple of time we had a great time, but the last visit was quite disappointing. When we came they told us we’ll need to wait for the food for 30 minutes and we said alright. But in reality it took over an hour for the food to come. Everyone liked their food, besides me. I had the pizza there a few years ago and it was one of the best I ever had. But this last visit, the pizza was horrible. Very thin and very dry. Extremely disappointed. The service was awful too. When we complain about the long service, the waiting claimed they he warned us. But he told us 30 minutes and it took over 60. The only good part was the manager that did give us a partial refund and apologised for he very long wait. At least that’s something.

Fantastic service and lovely warm, cosy pub but food was over priced and not as stated on the menu. I ordered the signature burger which should have come with beef brisket and onion rings and it had neither. It cost £19.50 for a burger and fries which was fine, but not as described and certainly not worth £19, will think twice about returning.

Our family visited the Fox Den on Thursday 24th October 2024 for a Birthday celebration. On a very busy evening at the Fox Den , we were warmly greeted by Owen. Owen commented it was lovely to see us again and wished our daughter a Happy Birthday. Owen took our order. He was warm and friendly but very professional and is clearly a skilled and valuable member of the Fox Den team. We had a thoroughly enjoyable family evening being served very efficiently by Owen despite a very busy service due to a Conference gathering. The entire family can’t praise Owen enough who made sure everything went well. We have been served by Owen on previous occasions with the exact same level of Service. We look very much forward to returning to the Fox Den in the very near future.

We arrived at 5.30 on Sunday wanting food quickly. They gave us a table and we ordered 2 carverys. The food arrived quickly and it was mostly very tasty. We had the pork and it was delicious, as were all the fresh vegetables (cabbage, greens and broccoli) and the gluten free gravy was excellent. The only thing that wasn't so good was the roasted potatoes. For a start they were advertised as being garlicky (no one wants garlic on their roasties) but the main problem was that they were stale, like they had been cooked and left keeping warm for 2 hours. Other than the poor potatoes everything was great.

We decided to go to the Fox Den on a Saturday evening for something to eat and drink. We were not disappointed. We eat out a lot and our food was beautiful. We both had three courses. We agreed the food was the best we had in a very long time. We even went back for Sunday roast the following day which again was outstanding. We received a warm welcome on arrival and didn't have to wait long for our food both days. Would definitely recommend the Fox Den to everyone

Went for a roast dinner for the first time here and it was perfect, I can’t fault it. We were served by a lovely, friendly guy called Owen who made the visit extremely pleasant. Will definitely be eating there again!

Located 2 minutes walk away from the Holiday Inn Express in Filton, Bristol. I had the prawn cocktail starter and 10oz Ribeye steak.

Food not bad but we will never eat here again not due to food but after leaving a tip of £20 as there were 8 of us. When I got home I saw the restaurant had also added a £27.99 service charge so they were happy to take £47.99 for thr tip disgusting that they do this so will never go there again. Make sure you check your bill properly

Bar staff very good. Had booked a table. Nice environment. Ordered mushrooms and Brie bites for starters, mushrooms amazing but Brie bites were all hollow. No-one checked on us and when lady cleared plates, I explained the Brie bites were hollow with no cheese inside. She said sorry you didn't enjoy it ( I left to show them) shared a pizza which was just ok, not much pepperoni, lot of crust and dry. Side salad was poor, gritty and mostly lettuce stalks. Triple cooked chips dry ( More like oven chips) we had to ask for plates , not a very good experience overall and expensive. Probably won't return.

When it's busy, service can be a bit slow, though pleasingly friendly. The building is in traditional style, though built in relatively recent years. Comfortable and the food is good quality and good value. Not all items on the menu were available, though those that were, were good. If you are new to this restaurant, and its exact location is not on your satnav, you could miss the entrance. I missed it myself and had to go round again. This is because if you are approaching, with the entrance road on your left, there is no visible signage until you are level with it. There is a completely faded-out sign on your right that may have once been an indication. But overall a very good experience.

Ordered two steaks for my wife and I, and a kids meal for my son and the food was fantastic. Would recommend.
