Fantastic time spent here prior to the FA Cup game. Service, especially during peak times, was excellent and polite. Brilliant staggering, spacious venue and good beer! Shame about the result.

We flew all the way from Newcastle for a surprise birthday and gets to master thatcher only to find there was no alcohol that people could have so the party guests had to go across the road to tesco to buy drink. They seemed to be charging what they wanted the coke was out of a 2 litre bottle cost 4.00pounds for a pint what place doesn't stock up for a party

A lovely afternoon spent drinking cocktails and eating at the Atrium bar. Really nicely made drinks and tasty food in a pleasant atmosphere.

We went to the old elm last year and had a superb Sunday lunch. This time the food was great but could have been hotter - we didn’t moan at the the time C as we were hungry but will next time. We will go again but definitely ask for the dinner to come piping hot. Great beer btw.

We were given a gift voucher for afternoon tea to celebrate my birthday. The voucher included a pass for the gardens. They were magnificent with all the spring flowers on display. We so loved walking around. The afternoon tea was one of the best we have had. We often do "teas" and in fact for my birthday we went to a five star hotel nearby, but it wasn't as good as Compton Acres. We are both diabetics so the chef substituted savoury items instead of cakes. So we had sausage rolls and the best quiche we've ever tasted. The sandwiches were great and the scones delicious. All in all a wonderful after, can highly recommend it.

Came here on Easter Sunday. Were able to be seated right away, which is amazing in itself. Had a lovely Sunday Roast as per usual. They do the best roasties! We’ll be back again for our annual bluebell woods walk next spring. 🐣 🪻

Have just been to Psalters for Sunday lunch to celebrate a friends birthday. The menu had some very interesting items on it but we opted for the roast beef. Veg were served separately and were perfectly cooked.Great value at £28 for 2 courses. The staff were so helpful and attentive. I am coeliac but almost everything had a GF option. We sat in an inner courtyard for coffee afterwards which was lovely. Very interesting old pub I would highly recommend.

Weak Flatwhite probably one shot, milk not Silky enough! Breakfast was on the money, nice, hot and tasty enough. Sausage was a little bland. Dodgy stainless tea pot! But that's so British!

I have to admit that I am not the person that comments on anything and everything, nor do I ever right a review of my experience. If I am unsatisfied with the experience, I just won't return again. But ... I have been seeing the Development of this establishment for that past 20 years and treated myself quite often to a night or two in any of the corner or best suites ( highly recommend those ) and enjoyed the ambiance and service this hotel had to offer. Our experience: Arrival to the hotel : We planned to have drinks prior to our meal. Found the bar area as busy as usual. With no free seats in sight, I ask the Brasserie manager if we could order drinks in the main lounge, whereas we been told that there normally is service but he has no clue what they doing today. Not answer I was hoping for. The entrance to the main lounge also been blocked off for some reason. Luckily the wait at bar was sufficient enough to pass the time for a table to become vacant. In previous visits, a relaxed table service was offered but not this time for some reason . Guess it’s an informal 5 star service.. , had to ask for bar menus as neither been on the bar or tables to see what’s on offer. ( also no usual complimentary nuts that used to be offered ) Restaurant We arrived early to our Booking at the samphire and were delighted to be able to be seated, unfortunately without any menus. It took about 10-15 min of us staring holes into the warm air, when I lost my patients and had to get up from the table to ask for menus at the entrance of the Restaurant. Yet again it took quite a while for us to order drinks and food as it seemed to be a chaotic service with everyone doing everything and no restaurant Manager nor head waiter in sight ( please note.. all evening ) . The lack of attention to detail was incredible .. table settings with knives to left and forks to right on every table .. just wow - giggle Food and drinks order done. ( ordered a glass of white wine with my mains, which never arrived ).. Drinks arrived what seamed ages. Overheard table next to us complaining about the slow service too, which been given a small apology but no solution to increase the speed of service ( yet again a lack of management ) Noticed the young waiter being unfamiliar on how to correctly present a bottle of wine and opening it, which I thought should be a training standard for a 5 star establishment. not only did he seem untrained, he also dried his hands in a used napkin left on the table next to him where diners just left. The pork belly starter , was below luke warm which was shame as its been rather tasty. I guess if a portion of this size is sitting on a kitchen pass for mere 3 min, it naturally will loose its core temperature, suggestion.. Next time use a cloche! I wanted to point this out to the service but yet again no manager or headwaiter to be seen and the waiters seem too busy to be bothered. Once they did ask if everything is alright, but by that time we finished what we had on the plate ( which is not a lot if you are hungry ) Unfortunately the main course of the hen and the monk fish not been any better and yet again being luke warm. Dessert of the frangipane tart and pineapple been ok, but yet again no attention to detail, as the dessert been bought out without cutlery being replenished prior. Ordered coffee to be served in the lounge, which arrived with no sugar or spoon and had to be asked for separately. When I paid my bill, I mentioned that the wine I ordered with my main course never arrived. No apology was offered.. A "informal fine Dining " experience. 95% informal - 5 % fine Dining. :-( Over the past 20 years I always chose the Headland hotel for its perfection, attention to detail and impeccable service, this time it's not delivered to its promise which is a shame cause that's what I will remember.. Coming from a 4 to a 5 star .. I expected more ( go back to 4 stars !!! You been better then

We have been visiting this establishment for several years when, on our Holidays. Unfortunately, our last visit, will be our last. TV's on nearly all the walls, one showing tropical fish 🐟. In the past the one TV that was there, was showing vintage music videos, which the customers of our age, (50's/60's) enjoyed. Also, they have removed, FOSTERS, which was popular, and replaced it with Bay's lager which, has a taste of 'Hops'. Not a Lager in our book! The only other Lager in San Miguel, an expensive lager that you would not spend the evening drinking! Also, the bar was closed early, on a Saturday night, because there was not enough people in the bar! There were 9 before the'Bell' rang at 10pm! Which resulted in the customers, that were in the bar, leaving, and taking their custom elsewhere. Including us. They don't even have an outside line phone to call taxis for the customers. So for us, that's it.

after a wind blown swim in the sea we decided we wanted some comforting food and hot drinks - initially sat right on the front of the patio and the lady in charge was there in a mo with menus and a brush to wipe sand off the table top - we decided it was still to windy there, so moved back against cafe wall. Orders quickly taken - food wasn't fast, but my golly when it came it was fresh and delicious - from bacon sandwiches to american pancakes and bacon - all piping hot and full of flavour.

A friendly welcome on arrival by The Receptionist, shown to the bar for table which was lovely. Lewis, the barman couldn't have been more attentive. Staff like him are what hospitality should be about. He talked me through the Ales (Brewed by the company), told me about that evening menu choices of the day and couldn't have done more. He really is a credit to the place. The Bedford is a fabulously situated hotel/bar/restaurant in Tavistock. Somewhere to treat yourself to food and drinks for sure. Thankyou to all of the staff. I will definately be back and also go to your sister establishment too "The Two Bridges".

A fantastic take away located in North Prospect! There’s always a bit of a wait for the food, but it’s worth it. The menu is varied and everything is cooked fresh, so it’s understandable. If you like fish and chips, this is the place to go in Plymouth!
