The best restaurants serving British food in South West

I chose vegetarian lasagne at £12 .95 very small portion for money not good value burnt around edges dish & served as vegan dissapointed friendly atmosphere from staff

Me encanta cocinar en casa y soy bastante capaz, pero la calidad de cada elemento / ingrediente de cada plato traído a nuestra mesa, incluidos los jugos de manzana frescos, estaban más allá de lo que podemos producir en casa, y esto es exactamente lo que esperamos experimentar al comer fuera - inspiración y una experiencia! Tres vítores a la excelencia en la cocina, personal alegre que nos trajo tanta alegría en el acogedor comedor del café. No hay nada que fallar aquí, volverá, no puedo esperar, ¡qué joya de lugar!

Travelling home from a long weekend break with friends and stopped here for breakfast. Really happy we visited as it was delicious!

Nice national trust house and grounds. Can’t review house or formal garden as not allowed in with dogs which is annoying. Brilliant on site walks some of which are quite hilly to say the least. Restaurant delivered nice hot food but it’s so expensive as is the norm now for NT places.

Was led to believe this place had been done up I am not sure how can it be in worse shape than it was previously not good something is just off with this place would not recommend it to anyone very strange.

Now called ACORN WESTERLEIGH. Namek and Richard have done a great job with completely changing this establishment. Now an Italian restaurant open from 0830 - 230pm and 5-10pm in the evenings with a great menu! A must try for everyone!

What a shame - a message to the brewery, why have you let this great pub go downhill? No draft beer, no wine, fridges empty, dirty toilets - clearly unloved but still charged us over £6 for 2 bags of crisps! I felt sorry for the very young bar staff who just spent the whole time apologising!

Visited after a walk along the coast. Great location. We ordered a selection of hot drinks and cakes but there was quite a wait - even when it didn’t seem to be too busy. Toilets are not the nicest. We have visited here previously and the children have enjoyed the games/jigsaws on offer, however this year we did not come across these - if they’ve gone - please get some more!

Agree with earlier reviews we had 2 slices of Quiche with a small salad a slice of bread an butter and some coleslaw a coffee and a Diet Coke it was very nice but not worth £35

Very polite staff accommodated two scruffy walkers for a last minute afternoon tea in their comfortable well decorated lounge - excellent quality food and we weren’t left hungry which is often the case in London where we live. You absolutely get what you pay for, we’ll be visiting again if we’re in the area.

We've been before and we'll go again. The staff and service are brilliant and the food is the main reason we go. We have to stay for at least 3 nights to allow us to work through the menu. Locally sourced ingredients, good portion sizes, well cooked and accompanied by decent wines. Local beers are always a plus wherever I go. The hotel is in an old building and I wouldn't expect to find chain hotel uniformity. The beds are comfortable and the room warm in winter. I can be picky anywhere I go, believe me, but I can overlook imperfections if the overall experience is great, and this was great again.

This is a great pub that is full of heart, providing a warm welcome and serving lovely food for all tastes. The spicy Korean Chicken, classic Fish & chips, steak and stone baked pizza are all amazing! Great for both locals and visitors to the area, there are lots of cosy indoor seating areas as well as an outdoor terrace overlooking the bridge and river. Child and dog friendly and with a great atmosphere - it’s well worth a visit.

A lovely way to celebrate my Granddaughter’s 18th Birthday - fine dining and good service with a celebratory cake to round things off. The view from the restaurant is amazing and added to the ambience of the meal.

Great english breakfast of both variations, normal and vegetarian. Great service from attentive staff. Can get very busy at sunday morning opening times.
