Wow! I wish I could give this place 6 stars. Incredibly helpful, delicious food / drinks - the perfect hosts. We ordered starters to share (the cheese melting pot and some squid), then I had the best venison of my entire life and my boyfriend had a delicious burger (50% beef, 50% streaky bacon). The chef, Ben, came out to speak with us as I have a potentially tricky lupin allergy and he talked us through all their local suppliers and ingredients used, he was happy to adjust any dish to suit which was so appreciated. We felt at ease the second we walked in, as the bar / wait staff were so friendly and helpful. The pub itself is the perfect blend between old / new, with fairy lights to help ambiance and wooden beams / original features to anchor the place. 10/10 would recommend in an instand! PLEASE GO TO THIS PLACE!
I don’t usually leave reviews but tonight Hixon needs a shout out!
I originally booked at table for 6 for my partner’s birthday the day before, last minute thing, and then it turned out that more guests would be attending.
When informing of the possibility of the guest change to accommodate 12, Jess, the GM, she kindly offered us the private dining room that is situated in the back of the restaurant.
It fitted us perfectly!
We came on the Wednesday night for the Limitless Streak and Fries night, absolutely ideal for a big party, no fuse about the bill at the end of the night, as we all paid individually to begin with and paid separately through out our night for drinks. Worked out really well!
Everything was made so comfortable by Jess, our waitresses Eva and Belle and big shout out to Liz on the bar for the delicious cocktails and drinks
As for the food!!!
Thank you to the head chef Connor and his team, everyone loved it!!! We never had to ask for more, they were on it!
And thank you for his birthday dessert!
Thank you for accommodating us Hixon, birthday boy and all of us really enjoyed it!
Thank you!

What a country we live in! The powers that be can force a thriving harmless business like this to close due to red tape!! A lovely place for pizza & much more especially al fresco on a nice day! Keep fighting & we hope to see you all return soon!

Hannah and her lovely Team are serving delicious home-cooked recipes in a stunning English country village pub in Wiltshire. My meal was served hot, full of flavour and was seasoned to perfection. With a fabulous range of wines to suit every pallet, and local beers, every taste is catered for. They deserve every single one of these five stars. Wishing you all every success in the future. I will be back next week!

Everything was great apart from the mac and cheese! Hence the 4 stars! Sorry I was disappointed by the Mac’s lack of flavour! However the burgers and other sides were excellent! I’ve been back several times! Get the pork Nugs!

Just TOO EXPENSIVE - £175pp for the basic menu is simply too much, the food is not worth it… nice enough and well executed but small portions and nothing to really blow your head off.
We ate downstairs at a wooden bar with a nice view over the bay - it was intimate but not at all sophisticated.
Service was nice but slow and timing was all over the place.
Wine menu limited and the reality is you can’t drink and drive at such a remote location
Ultimately this was just expensive nicely done food. I would not return at this price-point.

Wonderful place to eat. We had booked for 7.00 and were shattered so asked if they could accommodate us (5) earlier. They duly fit us in and our lovely waitress Annette gave wonderful service. Honestly so glad we got to eat here. Everything was delicious.
The food is always incredible and the ladies who work there are always so incredibly sweet, even when they are rushed off their feet! They’re also brilliant with allergies and always are amazing with my partner who is lactose allergic (he orders a beef curry)

We visited for a midweek dinner treat with my mum and son. Mum and I shared the Japanese gyozas with dipping soy sauce as a starter and I had the Thai green curry with chicken as my main meal, and mum had the Buddha bowl. Service was attentive and friendly, our waitress kindly brought a high chair to the table for us. The place is modern and inviting with lots of surfing decor and videos being shown on the large screen tvs, as a reminder to everyone that we’re in the UK’s first world surfing reserve. Whilst eating our dinner, there was a doco on Carissa Moore being shown, which was really interesting! Loved watching the sunset and the views across Woolacombe over to the beach and beyond to Lundy as we ate our meal. Had a lovely time and we’ll definitely be back
