Zephyr Burgers in Plymouth

Cracking burgers and a good price too.

Booked to go on a recommendation from a local, I'm not. Had tried to turn up previously but couldn't get in, so I was expecting really special food. Nothing wrong particularly, just not amazing imo. However, good service, couldn't fault it, all I would say is, if you're used to macdonalds this is amazing, if you've been to a few other gourmet burger restaurants, this is just OK.

Absolutely disgusting we came here for my nephews bday not very often we come out for a meal together we came 10 mins early and was told we had to wait outside it was freezing cold I have never heard anything like it we had two kids with us also after we complained they decided to let us us which to be honest got my back up when they let us inside they tried to squeeze 10 of us on the most smallest table every to the point 3 of us couldn’t sit down what a absolute disgrace from you all we all walked out took the bday cake and went caffeine club which was just around the corner and can honestly say what a warm welcome members of staff couldn’t do enough for us all and food was really tasty and excellent value for money we would never go back to zephrs again avoid at all cost do not spend your money here they haven’t a clue about customer service !!!

We went to Zephyr Burgers on a recommendation and all came away full and satisfied. I had the California double burger and we shared a selection of sides. All the food was amazing and the service was excellent. I’ve already sent my mates to go and eat there.

Very pleased I found this little oasis in a sea of mediocrity Quick service (8 mins from order) very friendly staff and a fab burger. The loaded fries were also fully loaded to the bottom of the serve. Fridge full of craft beer cans too

Really good cheese burger, defiantly up there with one of the best iv have had. The menu had a lot to choose from and the price was expected for a smash burger. Staff were really friendly and were helpful to find us a table without a booking.

This place has single handedly ruined burgers for me! I can’t seem to find anywhere else that is the elite level zephyr burgers is! The food is absolutely fantastic, food is always fresh and the flavours you get are of nothing I’ve ever had especially the bone marrow mayonnaise 🙌🏼 The sides are excellent as well especially the pork belly nugz and chicken pieces, Service is always good as well. We’ve never had a bad experience and always look forward to making the trip up from Cornwall especially to visit. ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I’d been eager to try this place after all the rave reviews, but it was a huge letdown. The £13 California burger tasted like a high-end Big Mac, and £9 for “loaded fries”—cheap nacho sauce, a few bacon flakes, and two jalapeño slices—was laughable. Add a £6.50 warm Brooklyn pilsner, and the irony of bathroom stickers denouncing the Tories and proclaiming this “smash capitalism” narrative after spending £30 on mediocrity wasn’t lost on me. Don’t believe the hype if you’ve been caught up in any. Response to reply from owner: Thank you for your response, but it doesn’t fully address my concerns. I should have mentioned the warm beer, but I wasn’t sure if this was just how it was served. Regardless, with most drinks out of stock, including the San Miguel, my only option being served warm reflects poor quality control. Premium ingredients don’t excuse a California burger that lacked flavour or loaded fries that were sparse and underwhelming for £9. You ask what I was expecting? LOADED fries—something substantial and impressive, not minimalist toppings. While most people dislike the Tories, (including myself during their last term) my point about the bathroom messaging was that it feels ironic given the high prices. Focus on the food and experience, not political statements. Comparisons to McDonald’s or Wetherspoons miss the mark—customers want quality and value. Nobody finishes a bad meal and thinks, “Well, at least it was ethically sourced.” Great food speaks for itself. Sourcing is secondary if the food doesn’t deliver. I also don’t know or care about Aubrey Allen. Why should I? I’m here to see what you can do with the ingredients you have. I want flavour. Again, nobody cares about the reputation of the individual when their own experience is a bad one. Also, you have competition around the country who did it better for nearly half the price. Honest Burger in Bristol springs to mind. Yes - I was tempted to try the pork belly bites. I make very nice ones at home. I won’t be returning however, but I wish you all the best ;)

This is a review of two parts. The food, the food was beyond my expectations. I had a double cheese and bacon burger and it was fantastic, I also had two orders of the Pork Belly Nugz and again, they were an absolute triumph. Now, the bad part. The service was somewhat lacking. We arrived at 7pm and our order was taken promptly and the food arrived quickly. We had to wait for 40 minutes before we got any water for our table and we didn't see wait staff (who were busy elsewhere or studiously avoiding us) until we left. I intended to have a second drink and order more nuggz for desert! By the time we managed to attract the attention of the team the kitchen had closed and when we asked if we could get another drink we were told they were closing so we took the opportunity to ask for the bill instead. I would go back, and if you love burgers you should definitely go there but I hope you have better luck than we did.

Got takeaway because it was a full house. The burgers were really nice, although we felt the size was a bit smaller. It still didn't matter because it was really tasty and filling, so we ended up being quite satisfied. Wanted to get the chicken burger, but they had run out of chicken at that time unfortunately. But there's always next time!

Food was amazing. Had the special (bone marrow and onion confit etc) and would 100% recommend. The dessert special (Basque cheesecake) was also amazing and hope it becomes a permanent on the menu . Only thing I'd change is the amount of cheese sauce that goes on the cheese fries. It's a tad too much poured on the chips and becomes a real struggle to eat, although the sauce itself is really good.

I was recommended this place for its Burgers from Plymouth Striker Andre Gray on the Ben Foster Podcast. It did not disappoint! Very nice food

Heard a lot of hype around Zephyr and I was surprised that it delivered. It isn't cheap but given the quality of the food, that's okay and it's a better value proposition than some mass chain like Five Guys. Taste wise, it's on another stratosphere to somewhere like that. Great smashed patties, that really taste of beef and a variety of interesting things on the menu. Really recommend this place, it's one of the best burgers in the UK and can compete, if not beat, the likes of Supernova, Bleecker and Black Bear elsewhere in the country

Undoubtedly the best smashed burgers, juicy and tasty. Pork and chicken bites are delicious too. Personally, I prefer the burger to the melt. 😜

Was one of the best burgers I’ve ever had! Was such meat and price was fair. The tots/potatoes we had were the garlic ones and they were so strong we couldn’t eat them. Smelt amazing but too much for us which was a shame. The music was also loud so couldn’t really have a conversation. Great location though and would be back again! Couldn’t fault the staff, they were very friendly.

I went with my partner tonight and had a great time! Food was lovely but the service made it. Sabrina and the team were so accommodating, she helped me with my anxieties about the menu and the guys were so lovely and friendly. Will be visiting again!

I heard about this place and decided to give it a go. Well, it exceeded all my expectations. The burger I ordered was done to perfection. Flavours brought back my childhood memories of burgers I had some 50 years ago. Rich in flavour, and it melts in your mouth. If you like a little bit of heat, order loaded chips. They do home delivery service. You can eat in but recommend to book in advance or you may miss it out. Highly recommend visiting this place.

Absolutely unbelievable food! Popped in for a quick bite and a pint, and was seriously impressed! It was pretty much packed at 6pm and the MCB with fries was unreal! Plus arrive before 6pm and only £17 for double cheese burger, fries and a pint! Wish I was in Plymouth longer so I could try another. Would highly recommend!

Absolutely the best smashed burger I've ever had

Unfortunately the quality of the burgers has gone down from what it used to be which is a shame and yet the price has increased, almost £30 for burger and fries, it used to be worth it here but not anymore. It used to just be Thursday's I knew to never order as whoever cooked then was overcooking or undercooking food consistently and now it's every time. The last visit I made to the restaurant was disappointing especially with the drinks order, ordering a double whiskey with no ice and they get it wrong 3 times first they bring it over with coke so I send it back then again with ice and ice a third time so I just took the drink and after leaving I looked at the receipt before I binned it and noticed I had been charged for 3 drinks, outrageous I didn't think to check the receipt as was with a large group so expected a heft bill. We were also rushed with our food with only an hour to eat which was a shame due to how much we ordered, left with a sour taste and watered down whiskey 😔 It's a shame this place went downhill it was good while it lasted, thanks for the 100+ burgers but won't be returning anymore. ✌️

after last weeks blip, I think it’s only fair I amended this review. Burger back on point!! Buffalo chicken burger was absolutely superb and the California just Sublime as normal.

Excellent service, food was hot and we didn't have to wait very long to get our food. My only reason for a slight moan was my burger was a bit too salty for me. I understand this is totally subjective and it won't stop me from returning to try other menu items. Overall a fantastic place and not part of a planet destroying corporate chain (please don't sell out like Metallica did). Loved it, can't wait to return. Thanks to all who work there. Much love. 🙏

Place is amazing. Been here 2 times in 1 week so far. Had the buffalo chicken burger on my first day and on the second day a new burger release, the birra burger. Also the IPA craft beer selection is great.

Amazing burgers. Took the family while on holiday in the area, having seen it on the food review club, and it did not disappoint. The taste of the burgers was something I've never tasted before. Really wish there were more around the country as it's a 5 hour journey for us. Just wow.

Normally love Zephyr, the last 2 times I’ve ordered for takeout it’s been so salty it’s been indelible. The first time I just thought hey maybe it’s just a one off but ordered again just now and the burgers so salty it almost burns to eat, feeling sad I spent £30+ on food to be left only being able to eat the loaded fries (which were lush by the way) we couldn’t eat 2/3 of my order :( Shame as normally they’re 10/10 and the owner is a lovely chap, I hope they don’t take it personally but I won’t be ordering from there again as I had to throw most of it away.

Really buzzing this evening. Initially thought we would have to eat outside but they found us a cosy booth inside. Food came really quickly and was amazing as always, accompanied by an interesting beer from the ever changing menu. Will be back!

Tried this bacon cheese burger at zephyr, it is the top of the food chain absolutely awesome, came down to Plymouth on holiday, I was blown away by the flavour bone morrownaise really enjoyed and would recommend 10/10 out of this world burger😋😀

Heard about Zephyr Burgers on social media and had to visit. Was not disappointed. Top quality and very tasty burgers! Great atmosphere and helpful, friendly staff. Visited at opening time on a Friday (4:30 pm) and was asked if we had booked. Luckily there was a spare table - so booking in advance is advisable.

I have eaten here before some years ago and I managed to convince my work colleagues that we should get a takeaway from there as we were working in the area. Nothing has changed, the restaurant is clean, the staff are amazing and the burgers are off the chart good. Anyone visiting Plymouth should try this place out, book a table and make a meal of it if you can 😋👍

I was here a few weeks ago. We had a double classic, a double bacon cheese, mac & cheese, and the truffle tots. Great burgers and the Brooklyn beer. However, imo over hyped and priced. What we had with service was around £50. I'd visit again, but not in a hurry.

Went in for a takeaway 2 double burgers 1 fries. I said no salad which was a mistake as they don't then put onions on which I accept was my fault I took it for granted onions would be on it but as I said my fault. When we walked in it smells of cooking oil but still ordered looking forward to trying a zephyr burger for the 1st time. The burger although tastey was greasy like the burger was put in the pan before the oil was hot. I wasn't overly impressed to be honest, tastey burger but overpriced

One bite and my thought was instantly I want to come again! The California was just the most melt in the mouth incredible burger, a feast to bite but so light and not fatty all flavour. A relaxed place to visit with friendly, conversational staff. My whole family enjoyed it. Lush!!

Best burger joint in Plymouth, great every time!

Such a disappointment. Not sure what the hype is , especially for the price. Delivery turned up missing a drink, fries were on par to a well known fast food burger bar just covered with cheese sauce. Then the burgers , the stars of the show!? They were so salty it was like swallowing sea water. We ordered 2 burgers and both ended up in the bin, left feeling sick and needing chewing gums.What a shame, you live and learn

Burgers are fantastic, you can tell they're made with high quality ingredients. Also had the cheesy fries and tater tots which were both great. This is a must-visit if you're in Plymouth.

If you love a good burger, prepare yourself for a step up from any other burger you have ever tasted! Awesome!

10/10 burgers and sides and just overall great dinner, very slightly more on the expensive side but for quality and atmosphere worth the cost.

The price is ludicrously expensive, but very tasty. The food is good when you eat in, but it doesn't travel very well at all. No napkins or cutlery when I ordered to takeaway. I don't think the pricetag is even close.to worth it for what you get, even if it is of a reasonable quality

Whilst the burgers taste good, their small size makes them seem like very poor value for money.

Easily the best burger in Plymouth. Possibly even in the UK (yes really). The menu is nice and simple, burgers are perfectly put together with top notch sauces and trimmings. They regularly have some quite interesting specials too, so well worth popping in for a regular burger. Also got some great beers on offer and the staff are lovely too. A proper Plymouth gem.

The fries could do with some work - but the burger was 10 out of 5, and that's what counts! Plus the drinks and everything else was amazing, too.

Always loved the burgers, best burger I've ever had. Great beer selection and I like their style. My ONLY criticism is the waiting staff, they could be more attentive with their customer service, but it might be down to the fact they are all so so young that it's not high on their priorities.

I love the food here. Been there loads, recommend to people a lot. Replaced a good review with this though. They have royally got my back up. I'm m sick, tired, didnt even want to pick it up, but i hate deliveroo and when i called, was told at 18.04 it would be 20 mins. But i had to order online. By the time i placed the order it was 18.08. Then i got a message saying it would be ready 18.40...thats 32 minutes. And that I'll get a text when its ready. Well thats no good when i need to drive to get there. So...i turn up at 18.40, its not ready so am made to wait another 10 minutes. So not 20, 42minutes. Like why lie. You know your wait times. You know you're busy. You know you keep accepting deliveroo orders when you dont have the capacity to serve regular customers. Why lie. This kind of thing really irritates me, and has moreso today because im sick.

Today when visited we ordered 3 chicken burgers and sides all sides were spot on however unfortunately all three chicken burgers came out raw and pink first time when mentioned to staff they dealt with it well and offered us all a new one however these were also undercooked and pink When it came to payment surprisingly we weren’t offered anything complimentary or even a discount on the raw items Unfortunately we won’t be returning

Great little restaurant, loved the vibes of the place but just wasn't super in love with the burgers - that might just be personal preference for a slightly thicker patty though. They got our order wrong at first but helped to rectify this, so can't fault the customer service! Would recommend to give it a go.

Recently ordered for takeaway one evening. Starting off strong, the burgers were amazing, like incredible. The California was beautiful I was pleased. Honestly, the Mac and cheese disappointing; I found it tasted like just ‘dairy’ and lacked the character cheesiness. Chips were mediocre, good enough. Also cutlery was forgotten :(

Been here so many times and the food is always top quality, which it was this time, once we finally got it that was! It seems lots of restaurants now are over booking themselves with delivery companies meaning the in house customers are getting neglected, if you can't give attention to those that have made an effort to travel in maybe you should pause orders on deliveroo for a bit. 🤷‍♀️ The staff are always friendly and the food is always good just a shame to feel like people that are sat at home are more important.

The burgers were quick to arrive and pretty good. The patty is on a smaller size and a bit greasy. It may be better to go for a double.

Never dissapoints, the burgers are always juicy and freshly made, the chilli peppers in the loaded fries have changed and seem hotter so approach with caution or leave them out if you don't like heat, it's not cheap but beats places like hubbox and wildwood hands down for burgers

We ordered through deliveroo with premium delivery and when it arrived we had one burger missing and the rest was cold and congealed. Very disappointing, was very much looking forward to it. With the price you pay you expect better

The burgers here are amazing and very tasty ( we wanted to order chicken burgers , but they didn’t have chicken, they could tell us from beginning) . However, when you’re paying £13 for a burger very very very small ,even by adding sides , which portions are small too , you don’t want to be leaving still feeling hungry (which we did). It’s a shame really, we went somewhere else for dessert, didn’t wanna get an other tiny portion of dessert .
