The V.O.T in Plymouth

First time in this bar in the evening. There was live music. Atmosphere was great. Had a mulled wine (it is nearly christmas). Had a couple of drinks. (No food) friendly staff and would recommend

A very welcoming atmosphere, with a nice log burner for cosy evenings. Solid range of craft beers, tapas and UNBELIEVABLE cakes! Landlord is a cyclist too, and everyone knows cyclist = legend.

Good service. Great beer. Need I say more!!

We had the most delicious Fig and Mozzarella Salad a week ago at The VOT - thank you 🙏🏻 The service is always fabulous and the place is friendly and full of great beers, wine & cocktails. See you again soon!

An absolutely fabulous cosy, friendly bar with outstanding food. Great choice of tapas, piping hot and full of flavours. Friendly and attentive staff and great value for money. Next time I visit I will need to save room for cake, although the staff kindly did me a take away box. The VOT will definitely be on my 'eat in Plymouth' list when I visit family there again.

A simply outstanding unassuming family run craft pub/restaurant with garden. Although it’s fairly out of the City Centre, it’s close to Royal William Yard, an attraction in itself these days. It was busy for a Saturday lunchtime service with couples, groups, locals inside, and those trying to get the last rays of warmish October sunshine in the garden. The beer selection is quite frankly the best I’ve seen for around here, period. Verdant dominates the taps - which suits me just fine, it’s one of the country’s best craft breweries - but there is space for a Guinness and a Cider line as well as another excellent Pale Ale from a Cornish microbrewery and a Vault City sour. Cocktails also looked appetising. Plenty of other options, mainly from Verdant and Vault City in the beer fridge too. The food - tapas - was wonderful. Calamari was great, Lamb Koftas likewise, but the Queso fundido con salsa Mariana (melted Brie with a tomato sauce and bread for dipping) was simply superb. Service was friendly, knowledgeable and quick. It looked like many tables were reserved for evening service, so it’s highly recommended to book in advance. It’s not the cheapest place for food and drinks, don’t get me wrong, but you pay for quality and this has it in abundance.

Super dog friendly, great selection of beers. Only one cider on tap but it’s a nice one. Good wine. The staff are super friendly and so are the customers. We love ending our dog walk with a pint in here. I have yet to try the food but it looks good.

We dropped in for a light lunch and so glad we did, the calamari was so light and tender, the chips were soooooo poo good, hot and crunchy. We then shared the massive Guinness chocolate cake, oh my,,,, so moist and good. Lovely view from the garden. Great warm service.

Not cheap, beers are offered in 1/3, 1/2 & 1 pint measures. Excellent beers served by a very knowledgeable landlord. Didn't try the food menu.

This pub is everything you want from a modern local. Visited the V.O.T twice whilst in Plymouth seeing friends and this is somewhere I'll be returning to for many years to come. . The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive. The local Stonehouse community is very welcoming and the pub itself is simply smart. . A true historic gem that is now back to its former glory. If you're heading to Stonehouse to visit the Royal William Yard, make sure you get a pint in the V.O.T too.. you won't be disappointed.

The VOT is not your average pub. There is a great contemporary, stylish yet friendly atmosphere. Basically you can get whatever you fancy…tea and cake, cocktail, wine, beer, tasty snack or full on meal. It ticks all the boxes and definitely worth a visit.

Great little pub right next to Royal William Yard. This pub has undergone an extensive renovation, and wow what a place. Good food, competitively priced - Tara (waitress) an absolute credit to the establishment, highly recommended.

Came here on Sunday and had a brilliant experience. Amazing craft beers on tap and in the fridge. Very friendly and knowledgeable service in a brilliant environment. I will definitely be back!

One of my favorite places, the food is good value, the beer is mind-blowing, they always have something for everyone on tap 🍺. My personal favorite is the delirium red 🛑 . There's always a great atmosphere and the staff is always friendly and open to chat. Personally, I love places like this that aren't a chain store but instead a locally-run family business. And one that's run well. See you guys asap for a pint 😉. Plus, they have Verdant.

I’ve been to the VOT on a number of occasions with my family, partner and friends and all of my visits have been fabulous! Great cocktails, great service, a fab menu and the interior is beautiful! Big thank you to Owen and the team (special shout out to Charlie for being so lovely and friendly), it’s our new favourite haunt!

We cannot rate this place highly enough - feel lucky to call it our favourite local! The refurb has been done fantastically, but the real highlight is the consistently excellent atmosphere and the care and attention from Owen and the team. We’ve been in for coffee and cake on rainy afternoons and drinks and food in the evening, and we always leave smiling. Thanks for being so welcoming, and for having such great selections of drinks available! Keep it up guys!

Refurbished, reimagined from its early original status as a back street Stonehouse boozer, this is your typical stripped pine London craft beer bar in Plymouth. None the worse for that! Excellent, constantly changing selection of interesting beers. Not the cheapest but well worth the visit.

Called in for lunch and decided on a sharing platter for the two of us and a couple of glasses of rose (very palatable) BUT the sharing platter was a disappointment .. lack of sun dried tomatoes which we both enjoy .. a lad came round and did a table check but ran away before we could explain our issue .. I followed him to the bar but all he could say was he didn’t think anything could be done .. I suggested he check anyway. When I asked if I could have a word with anyone in charge it appeared there wasn,t anyone around. Shame ……

Nice food, nice beer. Pretty disappointed that I was recommended a beer that wasn't on their menu when all the others were around £5 only later to find they charged me £7.50 for! Feel ripped off if I'm completely honest. If you want to charge that for 'special' small batch beers list them clearly on a drinks menu so people can make their own decisions. Other than that, place is very nice but the acoustics are very poor as there are no soft furnishings which meant I couldn't hear the person next to me when the place started to fill up. Something worth thinking about.

Very good to find somewhere in Plymouth with a proper decent selection of craft beer (cans and on tap). Pleased that the guys doing the ordering here have realised you can’t go wrong with Verdant. Will always pop in here when nearby for Verdant beers as long as they have them.

Absolutely cracking pub with great food, good selection of beers and cocktails and a chilled atmosphere. The refurbishment is quality and there’s lots of hidden touches (look for the rats!) You can pop in during the day and get coffee and cake and the staff really make it a local. It’s got a really nice community feel and we can’t wait to go back. Special thanks to the chef for the best sea bream I’ve ever had.

This place is absolutely gorgeous. The staff are so knowledgeable about the drinks. They are so dog friendly here too. Jack served us and looked after us. He recommended a wine, which was fantastic.

Been in a few times since the refurbishment and it looks great. They made some cool features out of some of the windows from the old fit. The staff are all lovely and personable. The beers have a lot of variety and they rotate some taps, getting in beers I've not seen elsewhere in Plymouth. Cocktails are top notch and well priced. They've got a great weekly quiz we sometimes go to and it's nice to see them keep things lively with other events too! Worth a visit when you're down the Yard.

Swanky upgrade to the old place, liked it very much and pleased to see it open again.

Dropped in early evening to check it out and it was quite buzzing. Went back a while later for a meal and it was quite relaxed. A large selection of beers, all craft in style, and they offer "flights" so that you can try many without falling over. Had several tapas plates to eat and all were really good, with the koftas and barbecue chicken worthy of special mention. I think we had about six plates between the two of us and the whole bill including several wines and many beers was a very reasonable £70. Wife wants me to mention that the wine was top notch. It's literally just outside the Royal William Dockyard and the best night's food so far in our week staying there.

What a transformation! The pub has been totally refurbished and no expense has been spared. The bar and furnishings are top quality as is the lighting. It's become my favourite Plymouth pub to visit with a fantastic selections of craft beers which regularly change, so whenever I visit there's something new to try. Tapas is great too.

Absolutely lovely place, spotlessly clean. Really good range of keg beer on tap, plus cans available. Food menu small bit varied and very well cooked and presented. Thoroughly enjoyed our couple of evenings here, we will definitely be back for more, and recommend to anybody we know that’s coming down to this wonderful part of the country. Great beer, decent quiche and cake, excellent knowledgeable bar staff and comfortable surroundings.

Great selection of beers, nice staff, fair prices and good location if you want a decent drink when in the William Yard. The internal decoration feels a bit bare and this results in the space being quite echoey and lacking in personality, though this is a minor moan however. Overall, a good spot well worth a visit.

Our favourite pub! Best drinks selection, including the cocktails, small plates they do are 10/10 Staff are always on the ball and so welcoming and its the ideal spot for us as our boxer dog is always welcomed with treats at the bar !

It is exactly what you want it to be. Partner had been in previously for coffee and cake and liked the vibe. We opted for 2 six nations matches this afternoon and it was as equally welcoming. Perfect transition from afternoon to evening. Staff were attentive and so friendly. Thank you. Might become our local.

Warren has transformed the V.O.T. and presented our Stonehouse peninsular neighborhood  with a stylish, comfortable bar/resto/coffee shop we can be proud to call our new 'local'. You can be sure of a warm welcome by Warren and Owen, and together with Jack and his excellent team will soon make you feel 'at home'  offering attentive personal service. The well chosen selection of artisanal beers, gins and barrister coffees cater for all tastes.  One can enjoy le petit dejeuner,  les gateaux or evening tapas to share. Log fires for winter and a lovely outside courtyard. Warren has provided us with a unique community place to meet, relax and happily spend time throughout the day and evening among friendly locals.

We had a wonderful meal, in particular the vegetarian quiche was superb and the mince pies were the best I had tasted. The craft beers were good and it was nice not to have the standard beers.

Nice looking place but certainly on the trendy side and the prices reflect that. Pints from between £5.50-£6.50, which is inflated for the South West. They insist on table service rather than serving at the bar, which would be fine if you didn't have to wait fifteen minutes for a drink. Bar staff friendly, toilets are clean and outside area is very pretty.

This is a very good quality family owned and run bar, with shortly tapas to be added in December 2022. An excellent refurbishment bringing a great old building right up to date. 2 nice woodburner fires, so cosy for the winter. A wide range of craft beers. We had a very pleasant welcome from the owners.
