Absolutely gem of a pub and the staff are brilliant. Nothing is too much hassle. They put on an amazing buffet for a birthday party for us and the food was delicious and they allowed us to decorate. Thank you again so much.

What a fantastic evening, our steaks were beautifully cooked, very tasty and generous portions. Friendly service as always and we will definitely be back.

Popped in here one evening whilst holidaying in the area. Accomodated us (4) and our dog. Lovely fiendly staff. We all Enjoyed our meals. I had the pie of the day which was chicken , bacon and brie, it was a monster pie and packed with filling. Recommend.

Great little pub with amazing food - huge portions and really well made delicious fresh food. Service quick and friendly, great prices too (£55 for 4 covers with drinks) And ice cream/milkshakes shack in the beer garden!

Lovely place for a day out lovely food (big portions! You have been warned lol ) amazing ice creams, sundaes and fresh milkshakes in the beer garden… theres also a wood play area in the garden for the kids. I would highly recommend this venue if your in the area and hungry or hot lol

Just had an excellent meal at the Rising Sun. Service is friendly and attentive. Food was great quality and value for money. We also had dessert in the Milky Baa after, which worked out well so our son could llay in the play area. Lovely beer garden if you want to sit outside. Highly recommend eating here. Will definitely be back.

Had a meal here yesterday evening. The steak & ale pie was outstanding. Great atmosphere. It is a pub to go for a drink as well as to eat.

Staff were friendly but we waited ages for starter and mains. Felt like minuscule portions with not much flavour or imagination. Salmon salad had tiny bits of salmon and a few lettuce leaves. I felt it was overpriced for what we had sadly. .

Food was adequate. The problem was insufficient staff. Long wait to be served and between courses. Boring food for the price (we had two salads full of leaves and one cherry tomato). Outside Ice cream bar was great and we were well looked after by Archie.

Had an awful meal here. The chips were reheated from lunchtime and were inedible. When we complained we were told that the problem was due to the potatoes.

Visited for lunch after seeing the reviews and the pictures of the home cooked chips....we were not disappointed! Really good homecooked food, good portion sizes and friendly service. Would definitely recommend if you're in the area. With drinks and puddings was around £25 per person.

Popped in for Sunday lunch. We were lucky as they had a table free outside that could seat us. All other tables were booked and booking is recommended for Sunday lunch. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Food was very tasty and well priced. The pub itself is cosy and in a lovely peaceful setting

Nice food and excellent service, and the draught beer was really nice too.

Went for Sunday lunch, prawn cocktail and soup starters were excellent but the lamb on the main course was tough. Felt a bit cramped with large family group next to us who were a bit busy.

8 of us went for Sunday lunch today, July 23. Best Sunday lunch in the area. Plenty of meat and lots of perfectly cooked veg, followed by deserts to die for. Very good service by friendly young staff.

Had the best Sunday lunch here a few weeks ago (I’ve been too busy to post) I’m really fussy when it comes to eating Sunday lunch out but we definitely had an outstanding meal this will definitely be our to Sunday lunch go to from now on and we don’t even have to travel too far ! All the staff are fabulous and nothing is too much trouble for them, their customer service is excellent! Keep up the good work and can’t wait to come again !

Excellent pub in a lovely location. Food was fantastic and portion sizes were more than generous and very reasonably priced . It has a lovely outside area surrounded by countryside and the inside of the pub is very atmospheric. Staff were very friendly and I will definitely be visiting again.

Great little country village pub. Went for lunch and on request had gluten free options available on menu (they just haven’t updated menu to reflect this so doesn’t come up on a search). I had GF fish and chips. Others in party without dietary requirements enjoyed food also. Would like to have seen more beer selection (including a GF option!), so just 4 stars - but this is because of personal preference. Simple, tasty pub food with very friendly customer service. Definitely recommend to pop by if in the area.

Fantastic meal last night, food was excellent, staff were brilliant, friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was lovely. Highly recommend this pub.

Been a few times and enjoyed it. This time however not such a pleasant experience. Dog poo in the garden and had to wait to wash my hands after using the toilet as the sink is in the lockable loo.

Didn't care for the Chicken Chow Mein. Staff were friendly

It’s a bold claim, but…. It’s the best pub grub I’ve ever had - and I’m 45 now!! Usually something is great with pub food and other stuff isn’t. Well, everything from the location, the pub, the friendly staff and then the great food… 5 well deserved stars…

Brilliant little pub, visit quite often. Allways busy for food and it is lush. Keep a cracking pint of Traditional ales. Nice size garden and play area for the family to enjoy.

Very odd tasting Sunday roast dinner. I ordered for takeaway. The roast is nothing special. The veg didn't look clean. The gravy was awful....tasted like very strong Bovril-it was actually black. Ruined the entire meal. The stuffing however was lovely. I don't think I'll be ordering again.
