My husband and I attended on Saturday as first time visitors. The cafe was very lively and busy, we ordered hot food: A special small beer battered fish and chips and the roasted heritage carrots and whipped goats cheese, both delicious and we were really satisfied overall with the food and customer service from all the staff, lady on the till was really lovely, kind and patient (even if there was a queue of people) I have worked in customer service before and I really do applaud her and the other cafe staff who were really efficient, friendly and made sure everyone was fully satisfied. The gardens were also very beautiful and scenic. The only criticism I do have is regarding the comfy seating area where the sofa was a bit worse for wear and had obviously been there for a while. We will happily return nonetheless.

Very busy cafe but you couldn't fault the staff who were friendly abd helpful. We had lunch inside and later a drink outside. Lovely setting and very peaceful. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Next to the compton acres gardens which we'll do next time.

Compton Acres Café is a beautiful spot for lunch, tea or cake! The staff are very welcoming and friendly which creates a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. The drinks, although arguably a little expensive, are good and served quickly. The Café has lots of seating options including an outdoor court with a fountain, a 'no-dog' zone with sofas and a 'dog-friendly' zone. The Café is decorated with flowers and there is a wide variety of cakes, scones, meals, drinks and treats on offer! I would highly reccomend visiting this café.

Ended up visiting here as a spur of the moment type thing but I was impressed !! The lovely cafe staff were so helpful in navigating around the place, there was service with a smile and a beautiful coffee and delicious cake for dessert. Lady with short hair served us who really knew the menu and by the time we had done ordering our coffees were piping hot and ready by a lady with red hair who was very smiley and kind (sorry i dont no their names) The menu has a lot of variety but we went for the quiche lorraine and croque Monsieur and wow delicious and all topped with beautiful scenery. I will return to see the lovely staff and eat the lovely food very soon … beautiful thanks so much xX

This is a surprisingly large cafe with a great range of breakfast options. We visited prior to a stroll through the brilliant gardens. My full English was very tasty. Two hash browns included! My wife enjoyed her freshly baked scone but wasn't as happy with her latte. Quite weak and with a lot of froth. Worth a visit, though.

A very disappointing lunch. I have been here before and always enjoyed the food however was disappointed this time, chips very greasy and peas quite dry, there was a large piece of fish but that was all. Felt the choice of toasted sandwiches could have been bigger also very noisy.

The breakfasts at this cafe are really good, for taste and value - we tried it on the first full day of a mini break and went back every day foe our breakfast - three visits and something different each time. Decided to have a coffee before we toured the gardens and later have lunch. Asked for two skinny cappuccino’s and received two tasteless full fat milk cappuccino s. I didn’t drink mine as full fat milk gives me problems. If they didn’t have skimmed milk they should have told us. Did they think we wouldn’t notice? Consequently after the gardens we didn’t trust them to give us what we asked for for lunch! Went elsewhere. Also toilets were not up to standard.

We arrived shortly after opening at 9am for breakfast on a beautiful morning. The cafe was peaceful and quiet because of the time which gave our dog plenty of room to lay down and not be in the way of others. We both chose the Compton Acres breakfast which was delicious. The poached eggs were perfect and our request for one of the bacon portions to be crispy was sorted without any problems. The dog even enjoyed his sausage!

We popped into the cafe after walking around the plant centre and the shops. We bought what we came in for and went to have a cup of tea as we were very hot and needed refreshments. It was just pass four pm and we were told they could not serve us as hot drinks and snacks were not available as they were getting ready for the pizzeria to open at 5pm.We could have a cold drink or an ice cream. We ended up having an ice cream tub, not really what we wanted but needed something. What a shame we have to go without so they can open their evening eaterie. We will remember this in future.

Just came back from afternoon tea with my daughter. Cream tea was superb. 3 types of finger sandwiches each, 3 types of scone each, plenty of cream and jam. 2 cakes each. We had a pot of tea, and a free 2nd pot. The cafe was very busy and the surroundings beautiful, but what really made it was the lovely staff. Spoke to about four staff member during the visit, all helpful but Heidi was particularly chatty and made the day for us. All this for £28 for both of us.

My mother and I fancied a treat of going out for afternoon tea together. However my mother is lactose intolerant and most place, we discovered, do not cater for lactose free afternoon tea. However, Compton Acres cafe did and wow what a sumptuous feast of a tea they provided. The food was faultless, each item delicious and the perfect amount to. The service was some of the nicest, kindest service we have experienced. Each member of staff was so lovely and went out of their way at times to make it a very special memorable afternoon out. We visited the gardens first and then had an early afternoon snack afterwards. On the late March Monday when we visited, the cafe was quite busy and no doubt it gets packed in the summer months (although staff were quick clearing tables). The menu offers a variety of hot and cold food options plus cakes and scones etc (see my pics for info) - also a £15 2 course lunch offering (see my pic for detail). There’s a large car park and a gift shop which you can access either from the gardens or cafe area without having to visit the gardens.

Not too crowded for a Saturday. Perhaps the gardens would look a lot nicer in a few months time, however I was last here over 40 years ago. Well worth a visit. The Japanese garden authentic and beautiful. Lots of big Koi in the pond. The Bamboo was clean and impressive. The Japanese Laurel with their red berries added a perfect balance of colour and I only wished there was more. All that green and red echoes of Christmas. No doubt the Camellias would soon show their true colours. The Italian garden with its topiary was cool and light. The Heather garden on a light floor was wonderful. I only wished the place was bigger and had another specialist garden. The cafe was relaxing. The latte smooth. A nice day out. Fidelscastrol.

Server couldn’t have cared less. One cake was served on a saucer instead of a plate.not what you expect when paying £5 for a small square of cake and £6 a sandwich. Food very overpriced although tasted nice. Probably wouldn’t go back to be honest.service was dire.

Not the cheapest place, but 2 of us ordered from the 2 courses for £15 and we thought it was excellent value. The third ordered fish and chips, which was hot and well cooked and the last person had the Avocado, tomato and mozzarella salad. Coffees were hot and delicious. Our two chosen deserts were Tiramisu (great) and treacle tart (perfect). So the food was good, but the delightful staff made it brilliant. Beautiful smiles all round combined with excellent service where nothing was too much trouble made us very happy. One of the party has special needs and is very sensitive, but they made the atmosphere lovely. We were also able to take home the portion of her meal she couldn't manage at the time and these small touches are very much appreciated. Thank you all. We will return soon.

One single scone . I ordered earl gray tea but got regular tea. Mostly I hated the way I was barked at when i asked for a cream tea and told each item.was priced individually and "we don't do cream tea" the tray was too small for two cake plates a tea and a coffee. No table service.. the staff looked as unhappy and grumpy as the service they provided . Will not be going back any time soon. It was also very expensive compared to other local cream tea venues.

This used to be our favourite place to come for breakfast but what a disappointment. The vegetarian breakfast has been swapped for a vegan one - no problem with that but the vegan sausages were tasteless and very hard. There are some fantastic vegan sausages on the market so there’s no excuse for serving the ones they now are. The standard breakfast unfortunately was also not as good. The toast and coffee is no longer included. Two breakfasts cost £30, which we would have absolutely no problem with spending on a breakfast if the quality was good but if I’m honest, it wasn’t even worth half that amount. A real shame but we won’t be going back.

I live locally and have been a regular customer to Compton acres for a number of years. My friend and I arrived for lunch our first visit since lockdown was lifted, on Friday 22nd July 2020. We joined the queue at 13.45pm with only 2 people waiting in front of us. When an assistant shouted over the counter waving her hands like she was 'shooing us like flies' to tell us the kitchen is closed for lunch. There was no apology or notice before entering the premises that the kitchen would be closing at 2pm. The assistant was very unhelpful and rude to everyone who had been standing in the queue for at least 10 minutes or more, patiently waiting to be served. You would think after being closed for so long during lockdown that they would want your business, we were left very disappointed in there attitude, and won't be returning. This afternoon tea was booked as a special occasion for a 60th birthday. The staff were lovely and they did bring a brownie out with a candle in it for the birthday girl. At £15.99 per head (inc. children) we thought it would be ideal. Unfortunately, despite the lovely setting, the food was disappointing and beige. The ration of the food was wrong and there were too many scones to sandwiches, which left it feeling like the cake stands had been filled with the cheapest option. There was also only one drink included, which meant it got expensive. I wouldn’t book this again when there are better options elsewhere locally. Such a shame.

The whole thing was inelegant and far too much. Plus there was salad and chips. Sadly we didn't enjoy. We dined here yesterday after a detour to visit their garden centre (the quality of their plants is very good), we are so glad we did. Lunch consisted off the most beautiful lamb salad served with peas, feta and various herbs, my only criticism is that it lacked a bit off crunch, perhaps the addition off pomegranate seeds or something similar would have rectified that. We followed this up with some pistachio and raspberry tart, truly divine, light crisp and sweet shortcrust pastry filled to the brim with with pistachio paste with raspberries, it was sensational. Probably one of the best desserts i have ever tasted. Our meal was finished off with a very good Americano and a tea. All this was consumed in a beautiful setting with attentive friendly staff. Well done to everyone concerned.

Often come here with my Mum for lunch or tea - cakes are homemade and delicious and coffee good; hot meals are usually really good with daily specials. So pleased it's close by to where we live - and easy parking and access for those with mobility problems.

We popped in for breakfast. Hubby enjoyed his toast, but my eggs florentine were the star of the show. Perfectly cooked and really yummy. Followed by a meander around the shop. A super morning. Very busy even for a Saturday in January.

My dad booked a lunch for his literary group of ten at the Compton Acres café. Viv, head Chef, spent time discussing what would work for the group and working out a bespoke package for them. On the day the food was brilliant and plentiful served at a lovely table in a prime position that had been reserved for them. The service, led by Beth, was professional and perfect for such an event. Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you for making my dad's special event so very special.

I visited with my Mum, sister, Nan and Auntie as a belated Birthday present for my Mum for an afternoon tea. I had called ahead to book as I requested the vegan afternoon tea for myself which has a minimum of 2 people and my sister, although not vegan herself, shared with me. I was very impressed with the selection of sandwiches and cakes. A lot of thought had gone into the flavours and they definitely were more creative than the usual hummus and falafel offerings at other places. My sister also thoroughly enjoyed it and we were both very impressed with the scones. There was so much cake, we had to take a doggy bag home! Everyone else also enjoyed their standard afternoon tea and there was unlimited tea supplied throughout. Couldn't fault it. Thank you Compton Acres Cafe for offering a vegan option and a really good value, tasty one at that! :)

We are locals who use the cafe a lot but....no crumpets,no muffins,no tea cakes...and if there at 320 no toast as kitchen closes at 330..... it is winter ,colder darker days so would like something a little nicer than a slice of cold cake!!!!!....so we are going to go somewhere that can offer this type of foods....shame because everything else is fine .....

The café has changed so much and gone so upmarket to when it was a cute rustic café a few years back. Changed for the better but has got so busy even off season . We found the parking a bit tight as we have a big car Jaguar XF the parking was very tight and rammed. However the café was a delight. We ordered some tea and Blueberry scones with jam. Best Scones ever absolutely delicious and a beautiful courtyard with delightful full hanging baskets and flower urns with amazing colours. We had a fabulous tea and scones outside .

We were visiting Compton Acres as a birthday surprise with Afternoon Tea. Two of the guests need to have a Gluten Free Tea. We were absolutely delighted with the whole thing. It was all delicious and at the end we were given little boxes to take away the items we did not eat...as there was plenty to eat. The Cafe is lovely and you can eat indoors or outside and it is situated by a very nice gift shop. Then a lovely stroll through the gardens.

We decided to eat here before visiting the gardens and we enjoyed our Crayfish sandwiches. They were served quickly with a lovely salad and the staff were efficient and polite too. A brilliant start to our visit before looking around the beautiful Compton Acres.

I visited this establishment recently, the food we had was good, I definitely recommend the burgers, definitely better than your average run of the mill pub or bar. The staff and other customers were friendly and welcoming. We all had a great evening and are going back for Sunday carvery 100 percent !! Roll on Sunday

Good friendly service. Fab food (great Whitebait), all in a very atmospheric bar displaying lots of nautical ships and items related to Lord Nelson and the Victory. A great place to bring people from overseas who don’t get to experience this sort of unique experience right on Poole quay. Fabulous.
