after a wind blown swim in the sea we decided we wanted some comforting food and hot drinks - initially sat right on the front of the patio and the lady in charge was there in a mo with menus and a brush to wipe sand off the table top - we decided it was still to windy there, so moved back against cafe wall. Orders quickly taken - food wasn't fast, but my golly when it came it was fresh and delicious - from bacon sandwiches to american pancakes and bacon - all piping hot and full of flavour.

Having read the reviews I thought, surely not, would an owner (or staff) really be that rude to people, would they ignore negative reviews! So, as the place is in a great location & looked ok, we thought we would have breakfast there. Sadly the reviews about rude behaviour were right: the lady behind the counter had what some might call an unfortunate manner, others may call it just being plain rude. The food was ok and Harvey was a delight, hence the score of 2. .Why spend money somewhere where the customer, as I experienced it, is treated in a rude & dismissive way. I choose to spend my money elsewhere in future.

I like to pop on for a coffee and toast but if you are feeling fit try one of the shakshukas available, they are all good. Very flexible cooked breakfast ranging from a "full monty" to any combination of cooked components. This an honest cafe. Bread pudding also recommended.

Advertised open is at 7am, we were grumpily told by the man setting up the tables at 7am that he opens between 7 and 7:30 so we politely waited outside. The man then sat outside and had fag, at 7:30 he then lit another so we gave up after wasting our time and took our money to a more deserving business. Its crazy how a small business can turn money away. We will not be returning, avoid here and go to another business that will happily take your money and give you a great service.

3 mugs of tea and a can of 7 up, over a tenner! I wouldn’t mind so much if it was served up nicely in teapots with tea cups etc but three small mugs turned up with a tea bag floating about in hot water, not even stirred, just dropped in! Can of drink in the can! We had almost finished when a young lad/serving staff came out and picked up one of the mugs still with a third of a mug of tea in it and said is this finished? He put his thumb in the mug then moved it to his other hand and put his fingers in the mug while saying is the finished. We nodded as we never wanted it back now and he walked off with it! Three members of staff. Thumb in the tea boy, a young inexperienced girl who was looking for pointers from an older lady but the older lady was too miserable and rude to teach her. They all looked like they hated it there. Prime position on the seafront but that’s all it has!

I never, ever leave reviews but I felt compelled to go online, find the business and write this. The manager was so, so rude. To us and other customers. Vile to her staff. The sausages were undercooked, I didn't allow my children to eat them. I couldn't even ask her to sort it out because she was talking nonsense on the phone to someone the whole time we were there. Awful service. Last day of our holiday in the area (we are from Cornwall so understand being busy) and left an awful impression of Lyme Regis.

We decided to pop in for a quick bite to eat today. Wasn’t met with the warmest of welcomes but wasn’t put off too much. We ordered a prawn baguette , a bacon sarnie & 2 cups of tea. Sat down inside (chairs were quite grubby) & then the lady called over to me to ask if I wanted white or brown bread , I asked for brown. She then brought over our huge mugs of tea (no teaspoon with the mugs , had to get our own from the pots by the cafe entrance ) …a few minutes later the chef brought out our food. Although I’d asked for brown bread I actually got white bread …not a big deal tbh so we decided not to mention it …not offered sauce so had to find it ourselves from some shelves by the entrance. Another customer (I think must of been a friend of the staff member) came in to say a seagull had pooped in her milkshake & she couldn’t wait to get out of this “hell hole” …we think she meant Lyme , not actually the cafe 🤷🏽‍♀️ Food was actually good and it was a lovely cuppa but quite a few things need attention …..all could do with a good clean , needs a bit of organising (sauces, knives&forks etc) and the customer service could be better but in my husbands words “it was so bad , it was good” so I’m sure we’ll pop in again in the future.

A lovely breakfast. My husband had the full Monty and particularly liked the sausage. I had the salmone royale and it was delicious! The sour dough toast was a lovely change. I hate to give a bad review to small businesses but this place could do so much better with some professional management, staff training, and customer focus. The service staff are unfriendly, and unhelpful. You are left to figure out their strange service system. I'm afraid the student age staff were clueless and had no idea how to work the coffee machine so that the coffee was all water and undrinkably weak. The chef though was good as the (I think) Turkish pan breakfasts were excellent, though even then they got a simple order wrong so as a vegetarian they gave me lamb. Looks quirky but I'd go to another cafe till this improves.

Don’t like giving poor reviews but when service is this poor then feel justified. Anyone is entitled to keep Covid restrictions but this place is like Fort Knox. 2 small shutters - impossible to relate with staff. Got barked at when I went to the wrong opening. Served by someone who seemed emotionless - no hello? no how are you? Nothing. Ordered a £6.20 bacon baguette and an extra portion of hash browns (turned out to be a hash brown). Was worried about the hash brown as a £6.20 baguette much be filling. I needn’t have worried. A small baguette and 2 rashers of bacon - both fatty - both cheap. One incinerated and one under cooked - quite an achievement. Bread so baked it just crumbled to the bite. A 95p portion of hash browns being 1 greasy hash brown - who gives 1 hash brown in a portion? Why the bad review? - I’ve had poor food before and not bothered. But had to go the tiny opening to get my over priced food. Not given a knife and fork. No offer of ketchup. Never asked how it was - was it ok? Nothing. I’m not sure the be masked staff are allowed to leave or integrate with their customers. Coffee was bitter as well but suppose that a personal choice. The worst thing was walking past Jaynes, Swim and The Kiosk and realising how many other nicer placers there are. Train staff to say hello - get rid of the shutters and allow staff in integrate with customers - pop in an extra rather and cut the sinewy fat off! Serve a proper portion of hash browns and give us a knife and fork!!! Never again - go to The Kiosk. They value customers there.

We ordered the usual 'full English' breakfast, and a veggie breakfast described on the menu as containing Homity Pie, which appealed as an attractive addition. Two greasy hash browns were substituted for the Homity Pie without explanation. The breakfasts were served on thin cardboard plates that were difficult for us to carry to our table without spilling the food. The latte coffee came in a thin cardboard cup without a protective sleeve, so it was too hot to pick up until the coffee was luke warm. Curiously, water was served in a glass latte mug. The plastic knives and forks were so inadequate that they snapped when I tried to cut through the crust on my toast. The view was good but otherwise it was grim.

I'm not normally fond of sausages in cafes, but this one was exceptionally tasty and again cooked thoroughly but not over done. The mushrooms? Very, very tasty. Just perfect. Thank you very much. In addition to this, because they had just taken a big order, I asked how long breakfast would take if we ordered. About 12 minutes I was told. In less than ten minutes, two amazing breakfasts appeared much to my surprise and delight, because you know how it often is. They say 10 minutes and half and hour later your food appears

We had lunch today sat outside in the sunshine. The food was great. The Moroccan merguez sausage shaksuka was awesome.

The beach house is the same as ever in some respects- the best carrot cake, apple cake and scones. BUT the breakfast menu is better than before - with more fish dishes : kippers, haddock and smoked salmon.

Sat outside in the sun after a walk around the bay. Latte nice but the carrot cake was amazing. Only negative for me was letting dogs in the cafe, it's a personal choice but I don't like dogs in food places.

Love the breakfasts here, you will often find locals having a morning coffee after their swim out front and that tells you all you need to know.

I recently went on holiday and got talking to a lady who lived not far Lyme Regis and she said that whenever she visited Lyme she went to this amazing cafe on the front. I said thats what i did too and in unison we both said “The Beach House Cafe” and “Shakshuka”. How amazing!!!!

We stopped here on a cold windy morning to get out of the breeze and grab a bite. Dogs welcome, always a good start. I had the Full Monty, proper big breakfast with everything. He had a bacon baguette in fresh bread. All came in minutes. Great coffee too. Nice.

Called in today after walking the coast path to be told they were no longer serving food at 15.40pm which seemed a little odd as the menu was still on the table and there were two members of staff just standing around.Needless to say we got up and left and went around the corner to Jane's Cafe which provided a completely different experience with helpful, pleasant staff who gave service with a smile

The Beach House Café is always top priority to visit for brunch when we go to Lyme. Not just the once but most days. The shakshuka has become a family favourite. The Turkish orange cake is also really good.

Sat outside on a lovely sunny October day. Great location overlooking sea front and esplanade. Only had coffee, although my son had very yummy looking bacon and egg sandwich. Menu was interesting with fresh produce at reasonable prices.

Very nice staff and good quality hot drinks. I just came here for a coffee first thing while I waited to start the RIB ride down at the Cobb. I felt very welcome and comfortable here and would use this place regularly if I was in the area more often. Btw, very good wall hanging in the ladies loo window! There is plenty of outdoor seating too.

We called in for breakfast on our first visit to Lyme Regis today and I ordered the Middle Eastern Breakfast. When it arrived I couldn't believe the amount of food and how well presented it was. Everything tasted as good as it looked. Friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Top marks.

A group of us went in for brunch and none of us were disappointed. All the food that came out was hot, looked tasty and demolished with relish. Good value for money!

We chose this cafe for brunch based on the reviews but were disappointed. The menu was varied but the full monty breakfast chosen by three of us was very average. Two of us asked for full monty breakfasts with no eggs but with additional sausage but what we got was the standard breakfast just without the normal 2 eggs and the toast they sat on. The waitress did not seem bothered that the order was wrong and when the correct breakfasts were delivered they had clearly just had the eggs and toast removed. So effectively less than the normal breakfast for the same price. This disappointment might have been lessened if the young guy taking the order had looked a bit more enthusiastic or if the waitress had cared that she had brought the wrong breakfast out. Certainly not going to bother to seek this cafe out again and will take a chance on any of the many other competing cafes on the front at Lyme

Attempting to find a less pretentious place to eat we spotted this place. Had the spinach shakshuka and full Monty with hash browns and both were great. A lovely cream tea too - the cream and jam servings for 3 were generous just how we like! Excellent value. 3 brekkies and 3 cream teas for only £34.

Stayed for a week visiting lots of places along the Jurassic coast in Dorset, we went to lots of cafe's and nowhere came close to the quality, quantity and value of the food at the beach house cafe in lyme Regis. Outstanding!!

Out and about with my family and friends on a trip to Lyme Regis, we stopped for a late lunch. The staff was friendly and accommodating: they were out of hummus so swapped it for an amazing whipped avocado-feta dip. My husband’s fish stew, son’s cheesy potato, and friend’s fish and chips were prompt, hot and tasty. I loved my lunch - what made it so special was the little touches - caraway seeds in the cabbage salad and home made falafel. An excellent lunch - lovely young lads serving - and fun and eclectic decor. Yummy dessert option too - pear and ginger cake recommended.

as a treat we have one "proper" breakfast out during our week in Lyme. My middle eastern breakfast was really good - falafel, hummus and salad. My son had shakshuka - egg poached in a spicy tomato sauce, it kept him going until late lunch. There are also fantastic home made cakes and I have to bring some scones home for nostalgic cream teas. Next time there I AM going to have a crab sandwich.

Given the fact that we arrived earlyish at 9-45 am on a hot Sunday morning with (already) hoards of visitors pouring onto the beach and queues into the cafe, the staff were working really hard to clean the tables and serve as quickly as possible. The service was really good and the food was good too.

Love this cafe. My father and I go there every morning for coffee when we’re in Lyme Regis. The shakshuka is amazing and I would highly recommend it. My Dad had the scrambled eggs on toast which were perfectly cooked. The coffee is strong and hits the spot. The staff are very friendly and welcoming.

Lovely hotel and friendly helpful staff. Pricey at £350 B&B with very average rooms but good breakfast, although service very slow. Sadly not accessible for those with mobility disorders as no lift, steep stairs and few accessible bathrooms However, marvellous for lunch or dinner on a day out

We had a great dinner at the Arts Club. The food was wonderful, the staff were excellent and, being a lovely summer evening, we dined outside in the pretty and surprisingly quiet courtyard.

We were camping just down the road this past weekend and decided to have a browse - I'm glad we did as there was much more to this farm shop than I was expecting. Lots of different produce and gifts type things all quite nicely set out. Some things were sensibly priced considering you do expect to pay a slight premium at a farm shop (postcards 50p, fresh scones £1, clotted cream £1.99), but some of the prices were a little shocking - there were loaves of fresh bread at £4.50 and I nearly had a heart attack when I saw the price of ice cream being served at the side of the car park! Overall a worthwhile trip - the scones were delicious, good selection of ciders and got some lovely warm slipper socks. I'd recommend popping in if you're passing (the views are fantastic too) just don't expect any bargains.

Ate here Friday evening three of us had wood fired pizzas which were delicious, pleasant staff as always. On the Saturday two of us visited for lunch. We had crab sandwiches with a mixed leaf salad, they were tasty enough but £11 seems too much...

We wanted something less corporate for lunch and was pleased to find this cafe as it looked a little more old school and independent. The build your own breakfast offered great choice and when I said I fancied crumpets with marmite rather then the offered jam, was told this was fine. The crumpets came with a generous serving of marmite in a little bowl. This was a great find and having never been a fan of Dorchester improved my opinions if the town (finding the park also helped improve my opinion of the town) .
