Awful food at extortionate prices. 21st birthday party spoilt. 1. By a stroppy young waitress who couldn't force a smile if she tried. Rude and snappy. 2.Fish goujons, over cooked, herbs burnt causing a taint, was there fish in there? 3. Batter on Haddock over cooked. Meal was described as a tiddler on a plate with 12 fries by diner. 4. Several of our party went for pulled pork burgers. Buns were soggy and disintegrated in front of you. Not sure if it was a BBQ sauce? Tepid in temperature and a great meal. 5.Drinks very expensive. £35- 38. For a bottle of Cote du Rhône. Retails at £11 . That's a mark up? Night partially saved by a lovely older lady waitressing due to the other girl leaving. 6. Small milk jug of cream with dessert charged at nearly £3. Overall,£400 wasted. 7. Awful background music all night, not appropriate. Ruined her family party.

Visited on a recommendation and found a quaint place for good food and a drink. The pub and adjacent cafe at the rear are spot less, well presented and provide a cosy atmosphere. The welcoming staff and owners were outstandingly friendly. The food is brunch and cafe style, at fair price for the excellent taste, preparation and presentation. There is car parking and outside seating with an area laid to well tended lawn. Dog friendly in a quite village location, a short distance from the now famous Lyneham banks main road and great western rail route. Well worth a visit, will be returning often.

A favourite walk of ours is Mylor to Flushing with lunch in this pub - the dipping camembert is a must. Not so good this time : Me- can a have a menu please? "It's all on the blackboard". Are you still doing the dipping Camembert? "It's all on the blackboard" Thanks. We did have the camembert, it came out with a small basket of 4 to 5 not very thick slices of french bread - between 2 of us? We asked for some more bread - "I should warn you that I will have to charge you for extra bread" We had a similar sized basket. When we paid the bill it was an extra £2.50 for about 5 small chunks of bread (I wish I had photographed it)! I get that pubs are on hard times but civility costs nothing and don't be so grasping over a bit of bread, it's not worth spoiling the goodwill. On a positive note the camembert was as good as usual. We will think twice about coming again, there are two other options in Flushing....

Great traditional pub with an extensive menu of home cooked food using locally sourced ingredients and a great selection of well kept real ales. Accommodation was clean and comfortable, with plenty of tea, coffee and milk in the rooms. Guest informative and personal, addressing the other local service providers by name. Breakfast was cooked to order at the time that we requested as we had to be on the road early. Nothing was too much trouble. All in all it was a great stay in a traditional pub with bags of character, in a great location.

Avoid at all costs. Been here a few times before & was excellent. Obviously has new tennants who havent got a clue how to run a pub. Friday night was fish night and yet they only had white fish, which was grey and mushy & had a thick soggy batter. Was told it was cod, probably minnow given the size of the fish in the batter.Chips were soggy and were rubbery. This pub was dark, cold and empty on a friday night ,this should have rung alarm bells. Needless to say declined to pay the bill.,

We hired The Eldon House for our engagement party, and it was absolutely perfect. With 80 guests, the venue provided a fantastic atmosphere and catered us with a mix of bread, cheese, and charcuterie. Izzy was brilliant—so warm and welcoming—and she went above and beyond to make the evening special. She even gave us a free drink on arrival to congratulate us, which was such a lovely touch. We were able to rearrange the space exactly how we wanted and brought our own party lights and used their PA system for the music. Although some locals were using the main bar initially, after about an hour, our guests filled the whole pub, creating an amazing vibe. Izzy was also incredibly accommodating—she let us drop off things early and kept them safe overnight so we could collect them the next day. We brought our own cake, which was no problem at all. Communication throughout the process was easy and no question was too small. Everyone had a fantastic time, and it truly felt like a hidden gem for hosting a party. We wouldn’t hesitate to use The Eldon House again in the future. Highly recommended!

I stay in a lot of hotels as I work on the road, but I've not reviewed a single one. This place was special. First off, the rooms are clean, beds are comfy, amenities are good, WiFi is great! You get more than what you pay for, which isn't alot might I add! But the single best thing and the Bells, is the people. The Landlady Kirtsy and even the other patrons were all simply lovely people. Literally offered me the food off of their table. Best service I've ever received while staying anywhere. If the world were full of people such as Kirtsy it'd be a brighter place! If I'm ever down this way again, I wouldn't hesitate to book a room. Top marks.

When we arrived we were welcomed by the owner who was lovely and very helpful -- she told us all about the Hub where we could get breakfast, and the bus which would take us into town (very simple route), and even told us about a free walking tour that runs every day at 10:30 and 14:00. We stayed in a room with an external bathroom which was very clean and tidy. The bedroom was really cosy (lots of pillows, and a choice of either a thick or thin duvet). The room also included a kettle, tea and coffee, and biscuits. Even though the hotel was on the main road, we couldn't hear the traffic at night. 5/5 -- would recommend, and will be back in the future. ∆∆ This was written by my girlfriend Summary: 1 bus to city (very easy -- less than 20 mins). Little community cafe 5mins walk -- fry up was gooood Room was nice , kettle , lots of pillows and two sets of quilts Parking around back good 👍 Also very close to prior park (national trust)
