The horseshoe inn gives a warm welcome, the Sunday lunch is excellent, and the portions are generous. Tony serves great beer and gives the authentic country pub experience, missing from most venues. I'd highly recommend a visit. Just make sure you book in advance as this is a deservedly busy pub.

Great family owned country pub. Don’t expect a modern pub with an extensive menu this simply a small country pub serving excellent freshly prepared home cooked food which is wonderfully delicious and washed down with some great local beers. Now recommending to all our friends.

A gem. Recommended by some friends who go regularly. 2 of us went for lunch on a Saturday. Friendly welcome. Lovely garden. All lovely home cooked healthy food, made by the owners. Dauphinois potato freshly made, no pre cooked, bought in squares which are so often produced in pubs everywhere. Very reasonably priced, excellent value. Will definitely go back.

This the sort of pub that is disappearing far too fast now. A family run business offering a selection of pub food that has all but disappeared from our menus too. Good wholesome country produce with no pretence but just well presented delicious home cooking. Good portions, inexpensive and a lovely quick service. Add to that a selection of superbly kept cask and barrel beers. What more do you want? Well done the Horseshoe Inn

Beautiful country pub set in an idyllic village. Last minute booking for Sunday lunch. The whole experience was faultless. My wife had pork roast and all the trimmings, i went for the homemade lamb and blackberry pie with roasties and veg. All was perfect, in fact the best pie I’ve ever eaten. Even home made apple sauce which you don’t see often these days. The service from the landlord and landlady was impeccable. The next time we are holidaying in this area again then the horseshoe inn will be number 1 in our to do list. The homemade puddings, all made by the landlady, all sounded beautiful too.we ate outside in the beer garden which was lovely on a warm summers day. Cannot recommend enough.

This a picturesque pub in a pretty village. We were warmly welcomed and chose to sit in the lovely garden. The food was absolutely delicious and beautifully served. I would readily recommend the fish bake - a good variety of fish in a tasty cheese sauce with breadcrumb topping, served with buttery mashed potato and a tempting variety of vegetables (mashed swede, green beans, beetroot, red cabbage, carrot, broccoli, cauliflower cheese). Others in our party were full of praise for the braised brisket and the mushroom Strogenoff. We all agreed it was the best meal out that we'd had for a long long time. Can't wait to go back. Next time we'll try to leave room for those delicious puddings!

Popped in for a pint before we made our way back home to Cheshire last Saturday after visiting South Wiltshire for the first time. It had been a wet week with drier intervals, Saturday being one of such. On arrival at the village we were confronted with a sign imploring us to “drive slowly through the flood”. A huge 4x4 went through leaving us wondering if our Fiesta would make it. It Did. ( it was only once through the flood that we realised that the water was actually the River Ebble that had overflowed and was using the road as an overflow). Park in the village hall car park as the pub has very little parking and on street parking is very limited. Beer in EXELLENT condition and the farming? implements that adorn every nook and cranny make this wonderful old pub almost a museum. A proper family run pub of quite a pedigree.

Just got home from having a fabulous Sunday roast. Met friends here after their friends recommended it. We were warned that the Landlord was a character who doesn’t take any nonsense which made for great entertainment- but he was on best behaviour today and we had some good banter with both him and his daughter. Well worth the journey out. A traditional pub with a warm welcome and cosy atmosphere. Food was excellent and generous portions. Plenty of veggies and gravy and all the staff regularly checked on us to make sure we had everything we needed. We made sure we left room for dessert all of which didn’t disappoint!!!

A highlight is always the homemade pie of the day (pork & apple this time), but fish pie, and other mains all praised. Every dish came with choice of mash or chips, and peas or mixed veg. The dish of mixed vegetables had eight (yes, 8!) different veg, amazing. Portions generous but somehow three quarters of us managed a pud as well, too irresistible to miss. 10 out of 10 from me!

Tony and Jayne Bath, who run this fantastic home-from-home, provide the finest homemade food and best-kept beers and ciders. My family and I, in endless combinations, have been guests here since the 1960s.Tonight, we booked a table to recognise my daughter Isobel’s birthday: last night she was headlining a concert at Salisbury Arts Centre. I’ll keep it brief.Tony doesn’t serve perfect beers and ciders: he serves beyond-perfect beers and ciders. That’s all you need to know. Our smashing supper included home-made fish pie, the most tender steak, fresh crab that was exquisite, mixed salads that included strawberries, apples, peppers and grapes, bowls of fresh mixed vegetables and buttered new potatoes, pork fillet in cider sauce and the best sticky toffee pudding ever. Our greeting, welcome and service were exemplary: we felt welcomed - why do other local landlords not even say “hello,” when you’ve been a regular for 30 years? - well-fed and very very happy and honoured to be guests of Tony and Jayne. This is the real local pub. Real value, a genuine greeting and lovely beautifully-cooked and presented food and drink. But - take note other pubs - the greeting is so great.

We visited The Horseshoe Inn for lunch whilst on holiday in the area. There was a sanitising station at the entrance and a one way system in place. We ordered some drinks which arrived swiftly and were given a menu by a gentleman who we think was the landlord as he mentioned in conversation that he had been there for 50 years and was born in the village 79 years ago, wow! Almost everything on the menu was homemade which really appealed to us. We ordered steak and ale pie and a roasted vegetable pie. Both of our dishes arrived piping hot on pre-warmed plates. The steak pie was full of chunky pieces of tender steak and tasted great. The vegetable pie was also very good. Both pies came with a good selection of vegetables and some excellent dauphinoise potatoes. For dessert we ordered sticky toffee pudding and a hazelnut and salted caramel meringue roulade which were both delicious. Along with 3 pints of excellent locally brewed beer and a soft drink the bill came to just under £54.00. The Horseshoe Inn is a lovely old traditional pub serving unpretentious excellent homemade food. The service was friendly throughout. Based on our experience we would highly recommend The Horseshoe Inn.

It’s hard to find a proper pub like The Horseshoe Inn these days! Landlord, Tony, has been running this establishment for 50, years and was born in the village. The pub has a tiny bar and is decorated with traditional rural paraphernalia; horse brasses, agricultural tools and the like. There is a short list of well kept tasty traditional beers/ales and a good list of home cooked food. The service is very authentic and welcoming. There was plenty of space between tables for social distancing, and hand sanitiser readily available. This is not a ‘gentrified’ gastro pub (there are plenty of those in this area) but an honest, traditional pub-pub. Make the most of it! Places like this are a rare breed indeed.

I've not been to many pubs in the region that have truly good food and even fewer that couple that with superb service but this little place has both in abundance. I had all but given up on having a fully enjoyable "country pub" experience but the Horseshoe Inn has given me renewed hope! The food is genuinely homemade and you can tell by the quality and presentation that the two women who do the cooking enjoy what they do and actually take pride in it. A vegan meal was not listed on the menu (probably due to lack of requests) but a home cooked vegetarian option was. Not finding a vegan option I asked our server about the veggie option but she was only too happy to help with vegan friendly options. In many places I might get something half suitable but accompanied by eye-rolling or some such disdain- not at the Horseshoe Inn though- our server was so respectful and even seemed pleased to be able to put something wonderful together for me. That was so "valuable". Our food really was delicious. Even the salad dressings and tartar sauce were homemade! Our three year old family member was treated like a member of the "pub" family too- very child friendly ,very dog friendly and with a beautiful garden and view.p.s. Dear vegans, it would probably be helpful if you let them know ahead of your visit that you would like a vegan meal. That way they can prepare something lovely for you even if the pub is very busy.

Will be sure to visit again when we are next in the Salisbury area enjoying the rolling hills of the Wiltshire countryside.

Whilst staying in Ebbsborn Wake, we visited the Horseshoe Inn on two occasions, and our experience was truly wonderful! Tony, Pat, Jayne, and the waiting staff were welcoming and friendly. The homemade food was delicious and setting delightful - a truly authentic British Pub experience - we very much look forward to returning at the earliest opportunity!

Great traditional pub, booked on a hot Wednesday evening as my friend and I were camping in Bowerchalke. Run by the family all homemade food! Just amazing, felt so welcome will be back for sure!

We’ve been coming here for maybe 20 years and always look forward to seeing Tony, Pat and Jayne. From a minuscule kitchen comes the most delicious food, and we always get a warm welcome from Tony (apparently I must be a drug dealer as I drive a BMW).In the past we have stayed in the B&B room but this is presently closed until the virus issue is sorted out.The garden and views are splendid and generally again due to the virus the preference is for customers to be outside: the pub has a comprehensive COVID plan in place with a one way system for the bar. Great pub which is well worth a visit.

Great little pub although it is our of the way. A nice selection of real ales and good pub food to go with that. A really friendly family run pub. Recommended.

Just back from a fabulous Christmas meal. The whole meal was beautiful, portions were very generous, everything cooked to perfection. Excellent value for money I would wholeheartedly recommend the horse and groom Westbury for your Christmas get together

We came to Wilton for an evening for pizza, can’t fault the pizza and location however, not happy when the bill came. I don’t like it when a service charge is added without my permission. I want to add my own charge if I believe it is deserved. When I asked for the charge to be removed I felt tension from one of the servers who did not come to the table with my new bill. I did leave extra but it has to be on my terms not the terms of the location.
