I sought this pub out based on the reviews, but it's clearly changed a lot in early 2022. The old wooden bar surround is gone. And overall it's had a make-under. There's very little real ale (only Doom bar when i visited). And no sign of being LGBT+ friendly. Plus it had a very slight toilety aroma. The only bits that ring true are that it's dog friendly and has a pool table.

Nice little pub in Warminster. Friendly people with outside seating area, live sports on the TV and a pool table. Only popped in for a quick drink and felt very welcome even though I had never been there before. It may look as though it needs a little "sprucing up" but that would ruin the ambience of the place. ¡Bien hecho!

The Masons has changed hands several times in the last 4 years and is competing with Wetherspoons just up the road. It`s been a spit and sawdust type of pub with a good pub atmosphere but has struggled recently. My wife and I tried it this week for a pub grub and were pleasantly surprised. It retains its bar for the drinkers while another former bar has been turned into a small restaurant. It now has the benefit of having a good bar and, at the same time, in a separate section, a pleasant place to eat. Good food, good service, nice atmosphere - what more could you want from a town pub?

ok was advised by a friend to try the new bistro style food at the Masons as they had a new chef and all had changed .So I was looking for a Sunday lunch again and thought ok lets give it a go ,the changes to the pub are extensive , The bar now a restaurant , the lounge now where you have drinks and what used to be the back bar now more of a pub feel ( but occasionally with music, a great venue anyway back to the meal) the old front bar is now bright and airy with restaurant tables , the service was quick and the order fo either lamb, beef, pork or chicken apparently with some gluten free options , so we went for the lamb and ordered a pint of fine real ail and a glass of wine , the food arrived and instantly it was obvious the chef prepared meal was a real eye pleaser and the food taste was just as good , great food great beer and then the bill arrived they have an introductory offer of a 2 for 1 wow great food at an incredibly cheap price DONT MISS THIS OFFER you will regret it

We recently had a leaflet through the door advertising this pub/restaurant giving 10% off all food, excluding special offers. We thought it would be a good idea to visit and check out the restaurant. Looking at other reviews, it seemed sensible to phone first just to make sure food was available at lunchtime. Sure enough, we were informed that they had no chef so no food was being served. Now, it seems very odd to me to advertise the establishment then have no chef to cook the food. This is not the way to build a good business. There is a lot of competition in the town and quite honestly I don't think I'll bother with The Mason's Arms again.

Our family of 5 were passing The masons arms when we came across a sign outside advertising Sunday Roast, so we thought we would give it a go. We received a warm welcome and then we're shown to our table. We ordered drinks, our food order was then taken shortly after. We all had a roast which was one of the best roasts we have had for a very long time, we could not fault any of the meals we were presented with. We noticed that there was "New Chef" written on one of the black boards. We would all highly recommend coming here to our friends and family. My partner and I had previously eaten here before and did not have the best experience but after giving The Masons Arms a second chance they defiantly changed our minds about this establishment. Keep up the good work guys, we will defiantly be coming back in the near future. Ps. The gravy was perfect!

First of all, the barmaid/waitress was lovely. That's the good stuff! The pub did not have 2 drinks we asked for, my coffee was served 10 minutes late without milk..they had run out. Table was sticky..serviettes were stuck to the surface. There were 2 meals on the menu for lunch, beef and pork Sunday dinner. The pork came promptly and all was well presented..then came our beef..now I like my beef medium rare..a little pink, but this was red (uncooked) and tough. So both my wife and I asked for it to be cooked some...it came back 10 minutes later having been placed in an oven with all the veg...the plates were red hot. The meat was slightly better although it tasted weird and my wife did not finish hers. We were glad to get out of there. Please can whoever makes the decisions here use a little more thought and consideration. Traditionally beef dinners have come with the beef at least pink...not red raw...if this is an option please ask the customer...not impressed.

The interior is dated and in need of improvement. The table was sticky to touch when we sat down and during the night my chair fell apart!!Decided on the 2 steaks and a bottle of wine for £30. I cant fault the service, guy behind the bar was top class and the food was great. So two blokes a meal, catch up and watching the Rugby on the tv, it was great. Based on the reviews I was looking forward to good real ale and fresh food. The ale was disapointing, choice of 3, 2 of which were Fullers, but reasonably priced. I noticed no-one else was eating, but checked out the menu, went up to order and was told they weren't serving food, so much for the chalkboard outside. I asked if it was because it was Monday? The barman first said the cook hand't turned up, then said there'd been lot's of changes recently, and finally offered me a scotch egg, less than impressed.

We came here at the end of July for a meal and were not impressed - see previous review. However; sadly things have got worse, The beer and the wine was of a good standard, but warning lights started flashing when we were handed copies of the Menu. Apart from the Steaks it didn't take much working out that everything else appeared to be from Brake Bros. I had a Chicken burger and my wife ordered a medium/rare rump steak. The burger was clearly mass produced and the "chips" could well have come from McDonalds! The steak was like shoe leather and was burnt on the edges and raw in the centre - totally inedible. My wife couldn't eat it. We spoke to the staff on duty who were totally in agreement with our complaints and offered to knock the steak off the bill, which we, of course, accepted. They were very apologetic and clearly embarrassed by the standard of the food, and we actually really felt for them - they really couldn't have done more and deserve better. . After paying our amended bill, we crossed the road to Hong Kong House and ordered a takeaway which turned out to be excellent. Whoever the Owner is, doesn't deserve staff this caring, and is unlikely to survive in this business without dramatic improvements to the food quality. Needless to say, we will not be returning in the forseeable future!

We had an evening meal at the masons a couple of weeks ago. The food was simple but delicious and very good value for money. The staff were friendly and we didn't feel rushed. We would go again. They do need to work on the ambience a little, particularly the lighting. It was far too bright and that stopped it being cosy. A dimmer switch and some warmer colours (white and green a bad choice!) would do wonders to make this a cosy country pub.

From the outside the pub isn't one that we would chose to eat in but on arriving we were given a lovely welcome. We were offered to have drinks first or go straight to our table where again we were given a choice of the lounge so hubby could watch rugby or the restaurant. As we were having a Groupon deal there was a set menu, unfortunately most of the starters had run out so we were restricted to 3 to pick from but thankfully there was something we both liked. The starter was served and was lovely, we were also given a bottle of wine again a choice that we were very happy with and offered glasses of water too. It was lovely not having to ask for it, as it was all offered upfront. We both had rump steak which was cooked exactly how we liked it and was so tender. I would have preferred chunky chips instead of the mini 'burger style' chips but that is our preference and just a couple of mushrooms would have been nice which I feel most people expect with a steak meal.Top marks for the cutlery too, it was lovely to have decent cutlery that actually cut the food, a lot of places lack this.Too full for a desert we left feeling very satisfied and will definitely return again as the main menu looked good and reasonably priced.Thank you for a lovely evening.

As you will know from previous reviews I had a fond affection for the Masons Arms on my sporadic visits Warminster. So what a surprise when I popped in with friends last month. A new Landlord using the term loosely ! He appears to have upset his regular weekend crowd of witty drinkers where if you wanted a friendly chat with plenty of banter could have and the previously busy food side was nowhere to be seen either. Apparently serving Aunt Bessie roast potatoes and Yorkshires isn't the way forward . Trevor who at first seemed affable but after banging on about being the first Gastro' pub in Warminster ( too late by a good 6\7 years) seemed clueless and out of his depth to be honest .His sons who seem genuinely good lads need more experience in a busy food outlet and face to face interaction with the General Public oh and sorry but ditch dad he's doing you no favours with his approach to customer services. Sorry to be so negative but the Masons has gone from a thriving locals pub with reasonable grub to a souless empty building with no direction in the space of 6 months and unless something amazing happens this will be another statistic in the' was a good boozer now shut' category ..............shame.

We visited the Masons Arms Friday evening (29 August 2015) as they were having live music. The music was fantastic and created a lovely atmosphere. I think one of the things I enjoyed the most were the customers all chatting together and getting to know one another. This is one of the friendliest pubs I've been in. The proprietor and his staff are also very friendly and get to know their customers. They're having live music each Friday through to end October so I recommend going along.Whilst we were there we also ordered food. My husband had fish and chips and I had the burger. It was very good value and super tasty. The fish and chips was especially good. Would thoroughly recommend a visit. It doesn't look as welcoming from the exterior as the entrance is off the main road but it's certaintly one of the friendliest pubs I've been too.

From the outside the Mason's Arms is not necessarily the first place you'd think of going for Sunday lunch. Well, don't judge a book by its cover. We love a roast beef Sunday lunch, but so many places get it wrong. They cook roasting joints (top side, rib, etc) to death and then try to resurrect it with over powering gravy. Not here. Their brisket (cooked sous vide for 48 hours) is tender, flavoursome and just a joy to eat. With beautifully cooked vegetables and light gravy. The puddings, all home made, were also a delight. The staff are very friendly and lovely to chat with. So if you want a really superb Sunday roast served by nice people who are clearly working hard to make this a great place to eat, don't walk on by.

A group of four of us stopped in for Sunday lunch and had a delicious meal at a very reasonable price. This place is recently under new management and has really improved since we were last here. Between us we ate two roast porks with crackling and two roast beefs with yorkshire pudding all of which was very tasty and well presented. To follow two of us had the sticky toffee pudding which was to die for! I'd definitely come back and will spread the word. Thanks to all at the MA and best of luck!

Returned to this pub after four years and recent change of management. While there is still some work in progress, the new team seem to be taking the business in the right direction. Certainly keen to please, the service was attentive but not intrusive. The food got the thumbs up all round. My husband who thinks he's a fish and chip expert, said every mouthful of the fish was a delight. We other three had steak, different cuts, cooked to different preferences and each was a winner. Nice fresh salad and they assured us next time they would have Dijon. Dinner of four mains, shared dessert, two pints, two bottles of wine all for a shade under £100 which is good value. Good luck with the new venture...we will tell our friends!

We were visiting friends who live in Westbury and they had booked a table for us all to have Sunday lunch. First of all the welcome we received was excellent, our food and drinks order was taken by a very attentive member of staff. Unfortunately what followed was not so great. My wife decided on the fish and chips and her meal was excellent and we couldn’t fault it.Unfortunately three of us selected the roast sirloin of beef, when it arrived it looked great pink how I like it but on trying to cut it, it was very rubbery. all three of us agreed it wasn’t satisfactory. The waitress suggested bringing us sharper knives, we said that it shouldn’t need this with which she took the food away to be cooked longer without asking if we would like to re select . As I have stated my wife’s meal was fine but she had to eat hers whilst we waited for ours to be cooked longer and she felt awkward eating whilst we waited for ours. When the food reappeared it looked overcooked my beef had curled, the roast parsnips looked boiled not roasted, the carrots were grey and hadn’t been topped and tailed. All three of us left the majority of our food and to be honest when we asked for the bill we weren’t charged for the three roast dinners having mentioned that we were disappointed with the quality. We did pay for my wife’s meal as I said was excellent. I know we weren’t charged for the meals that weren’t satisfactory and my wife’s meal was fine hence the review.

We live a few hours away so only visit occasionally but we love it every time we get there. Tony, Pat and Jayne provide epic homemade food and real ale straight from the barrel. Not to be missed…

Called in in the way back from Swindon. No booking. The front of house were so welcoming and accommodating promising to fit us in. We sat at the bar for a g&t. Lovely atmosphere. Roaring open fire. The owner was behind the bar, so friendly, chatting away while we waited for our table. We visited Saturday lunchtime and it was busy with families, children and dogs. The menu had plenty of variety. I’m coeliac and there was so much choice. Cider battered cod and chips with mint purée had my name on it. My partner ordered the pie and mash. Both arrived piping hot. We cleared our plates! As a coeliac I can’t remember the last time I had such good fish and chips - probably over 10 years ago before I was diagnosed. My partner didn’t speak just smiled and ate. Thank you so much The Wellesley Arms we will certainly be back.

To be honest I was surprised to come on here and see some quite bad reviews for this place. We visited for an early dinner with our young family. The venue was quirky, imaginative and interesting. Great for our little children as there was lots to look at- big printed posted of fruits and vegetables and a great garden to explore which loops all the way around the pub restaurant. It really is a beautiful spot to enjoy. We were served by, who we assume, must have been the manager/owner. She was great. On it and prompt. Made great recommendations. The younger two servers were a little lacking in knowledge of items on the dishes- we overheard a male server tell a customer that pieces of romanesco were tender stem broccoli and that 'he doesn't argue with the chef' and the young female server came over to do our order when it was already done. Easily done and at least they were both polite and trying their best. The menu offers local produce, interesting flavour combinations and nice portions. The highlight for us was the ice Crean sundaes- we shared 3 between us and loved the combination of flavours and textures. We loved it, would recommend it and would love to return when next in the area. Thank you.
