Used to really enjoy! But real disappointed with the size of the fish ! £10 for what should be a large fish, sorry I won’t be returning!

I have no idea what happened maybe new management or something else but this USED to be the best chippy in trowbridge. I always enjoyed coming here. I dont know what happened but one day I didnt enjoy my chips as they were cooked with bad oil and my fish had an aftertaste of bad oil too. I gave them like 3 or 4 chances but every time bad oil. In the end I just gave up and found a new chippy.

The most audio battered sausage - sausage really strong tasting and the batter like rubber 🤮 Ended up frying an egg to go with our sons chips. Heading to Robinsons next time - defo worth the journey

Staff are always helpful and friendly, and there's always a clean appearance. Food is great, and a large cod, really is large.

A quick lunch stop. Had a chillie hotdog. Was pipping hot and tasted great.. good value for money

Ordered a meal so simple, my 2 year old granddaughter could have served it. Large chips, large plain sausage and a small curry sauce. Simple……oh no they got it wrong. Got home, no sausage. How difficult is it? Won’t be going back.

Asked for beef and onion pie and got home and it was chicken and mushroom pie , which I didn’t ask for, and I notice the shelf was the one to take the pie out of the freezer and in the microwave, and there’s always different staff working there, won’t be going there anymore

It had been a long time since I was charmed by the idea of a nice traditional fish and chips, but it would seem something about the quality of this one just didn't make the cut. My only criticisms would be around the food. The staff were friendly and helpful, the kitchen appeared to be clean and food handling practises were well handled, overall I think the quality of the fish and chips could be a little better, but the customer service here is very up to scratch, which makes up for the lacklustre meal.

Not the biggest portion of chips but very good quality. Fish was a good size and the batter crispy.

Staff were polite, and portions are generous. My daughter loved her scampy, probably because this was cooked from fresh. My cod, however, was the WORST Definitely not freshly cooked, it was like having a mouthful of soggy cardboard. £7 in the bin! It has put me off returning.

Neighbour informed me that this was the best chippy in Trowbridge. Phoned order through to collect in 20 minutes. Both staff were friendly and jovial and I collected two regular cod, one haddock and large chips. Had meal on patio with my daughter and husband together with some beverage! All battered fish was amazing and regular size was more than sufficient, no-one could have eaten a large fish which I am guessing would be sufficient for sharing! Will definitely be returning. Very busy so had to wait on chips, staff seemed to think whoever was quickest got the chips not which order needed them to complete, cheesy chips was a small large portion but overall food good.

Having lived in Trowbridge for two years and trying out various chip shops in the area we find this is by far the best place to go and will be visiting them again .

Excellent quality we stayed locally for a week. Ended up visiting twice. Fish and chips first. Followed by chicken and chips. Superb chips. Great portion size. Fish was excellent with crispy batter. Chicken was freshly cooked and lovely and tender. Will definitely visit again when in the area.

It was Saturday eve and my husband and i were deciding where to go to have something to eat and drink. Having looked at menus at local establishments nothing really took our fancy, so a drink and home for food was the decision. However after a couple of drinks we decided we fancied fish and chips, which we haven't had for ages and walked to the jolly friar. What can I say the large cod was enormous and chips were freshley cooked. They were great, we thoroughly enjoyed them and the staff were really friendly and would definitely go again.

Good service, very organised. Lots to choose from. Fish is always delicious and perfectly cooked. Their chips are my favourite from all local chippies, flavoursome, not greasy and cooked just right. We visit as a treat every 4 to 6 weeks and we have always had a positive experience never a negative one. (Even have a chippy lunch at work a couple of times a year, ring the order through, ready to pick up at the agreed time and always well received by everyone)

Poor. Had fish & chips x 3 small £21. No problem with the price but quality poor. Fish is in a really thick batter so not crisp & there was less fish than batter. The fish was just thin tail. Told it was cod. Chips are dry - undercooked. Staff lovely. Not good & won’t be returning....

We go here for our takeaway treat every now and then. Whilst the food is good, these past two visits the later being tonight the food has been fantastic, the fish and chips have been so tasty, maybe they are cooking with a new type of oil perhaps but food tastes delicious.

Called in early evening and was greeted by friendly staff who took my order. When I got the food home it seemed that the chips were particularly old and only lukewarm. My wife thought they may have been leftover chips from lunchtime. The fish batter was pale and a bit soggy and could have done with a bit more time in the fryer. Very disappointing this time, although at other times the food can been very good indeed. You takes your chances at these premises!

Excellent skinless fish and crispy chips

This is a fish and chip take away, which is organised very efficiently. The food is always freshly cooked and very hot. We usually bring it home to eat, 2 miles, and it remains good and very hot. The portion sizes are generous and it is never greasy.

It started one day last week when I went to the jolly friar on the Broadmead estate as I use it now and again and I went half hour before closing well the staff saw me locked door and turns the lights out . I was a bit disappointed but thought to myself I'll remember that then my daughter went this evening the chips were dry the sausage tasted burnt and was hard in the middle . I would not usually give a bad review but had to take food back before as they over microwaved the pie and it no meat in . . They were very good about it but now having had 3 bad experiences think they need to be aware .

Consistently good fish and chips

Food is always lovely not greasy slop. I often have a cheeseburger with all the trimmings from here and i have to say youll do well to find a better one anywhere else . Spot on

I have to say I am very fussy over my f and c's not a lover of Grease! I can always predict fantastic chips in generous proportions similar with the great fish in light crispy batter. Plenty of sides, good curry sauce yum.
