Me and my partner have had such a lovely time at this pub. The staff are all so friendly and welcoming. They offered to make me an omelette which was off menu as I’m gluten free which I really appreciated. The food was delicious! We had our toddler with us who throughly enjoyed running around in the garden playing with the vintage cars and the old tank. It was such a lovely environment for him to have play in and a lovely afternoon outing. The staff were very happy to host our bouncy toddler and we all felt very welcome. The pub itself was so cosy and warm, the decor was lovely and you can tell it’s very well looked after. Beautiful pub, we will be back xx

Fantastic locals pub, very welcoming and great food. Quiz night every Monday. The pub is very homely. Excellent choice of very well kept beers which are a credit to the landlord. The VE celebrations this year were over and above with a collection of war time vehicles, lots of activities and a BBQ. Plenty of parking. I wish it was my local pub.

Absolutely fantastic pub and I do mean pub! There is a pool table, dart board, quiz nights, games of spoof at the bar, everything that has been lost from most other pubs in the country. The food served is simple pub grub, done well and pretty cheap. The Landlord is very welcoming and if you have any interest in vehicles, local history or wartime you will struggle to leave!

Special community village pub Freehold and built from an empty carcass by Neil into a characterful but fresh and airy place. If you like to meet likeminded and friendly people, drink a local beer and eat home made food at really competitive prices this is one for you. Cosy with log fire in winter and spacious sunny garden in the summer.

Good value for money and the food was nice. The staff were pleasant and the tables were laid up beautifully. The garden is south facing and therefore sunny but there was also a place to be in the shade. I has not been opened long since refurbishment so there is a little tweeking still to be done but we would definitely go there again.

“CRACKING” family ran pub, absolutely lush pub grub, the roast is fab, and the portions are decent. Not you fancy Nancy, 1 potato and 1/2 a carrot sort of pub so if you’re pompous and fussy then probably better go visit a Marco or Gordon restaurant! Can’t fault the place, for a chilled good old pub style atmosphere, and as As Nessa once said ‘ can I have a pint of wine please!’ You will not be judged! The land lord and land lady are truly scrumptious and good fun! Pool table, darts and bouncy castle too, oh yes that’s right a bouncy castle. Yaki dah!

Anyhoo, the foods great, landlord & Landlady are lovely people and to top it off, they have some lovely ales and serve a beautiful pint of Guinness so they do

I do not know what has changed behind the scenes, but over a year ago the food was absolutely amazing and fully justified the gourmet prices charged. Now? The meat dishes are good, but not brilliant. The potatoes, vegetables and sides no longer taste fresh and are distinctly average or below. And the accompaniments? Watery, tasteless gravies and poor side sauces in keeping with the level of service from the staff. This pub has really taken a turn for the worse but kept the same extortionate prices which were - once upon a time - justified.

First time I went was lovely, last Sunday (29th June 2014) the staff (3 teenage girls) were just awful ... Didn't have a clue, no customer service, totally disorganised and wasn't even busy as arrived at 5pm ... No excuse. Had to get our own menus, clear our own table ... Definitely served frozen Aunt Bessie potatoes & skimpy helping of veg, watery gravy... Not what you expect for whopping £17.95 main course per person !!! Very, very disappointed.

Best fish and chips shop in town. Mostly cooked to order, chips are crispy, fish is always perfectly cooked. Haddock and chips at £9.60 is two quid cheaper than a doner kebab and chips just around the corner. I know what I'd rather have.

Some classic British dishes on the menu, helpful service, and the bar (which is associated with the hotel) has plenty of beers, lagers and wine. Lots of room between the 4 to 5 tables in the main dining area, although I suspect you could eat at tables by the bar. Meanwhile, you’re in a very old stylist building within the Salisbury city centre.

We always pop in to Rick Stein for cocktails. Conner makes the best cocktails ever and is always so friendly. I highly recommend you try his Expresso martini. 🌟
