Just popped in for a drink. What a beautiful pub. We will definitely return for food.

Fantastic pub. Menu was small but food was great. We sat outside the atmosphere was friendly as were the people who worked there. It was a relaxed place where you could enjoy an evening.

Called in on way back from Cornwall and was super happy we did. Lovely beer garden, great food, lovely staff as well. Will definitely be back again.

Just off the A30, this is a perfect lunch stop when travelling to or from the southwest. The food is straightforward but well done, and we were warmly welcomed. There's a nice beer garden with several beach huts.

Family of 10 popped in on an offchance. Despite us only ringing half an hour before, they were very welcoming. The food was lovely, piping hot and fresh, the owner is a great cook. Can recommend their steak and ale pie, keralean cauliflower and red pepper curry. Children had pizzas and burgers, nice quality. Best meal we have had all week, would definitely return and recommend a visit if you are passing.

Cosy pub with a brilliant selection of beers. Food was delicious and the staff were super friendly. Popped in on our way down to Cornwall for lunch and will definitely visit again on our next trip.

A beautiful place to visit, the food is good but very limited menu, catering chips and overpriced desserts good atmosphere, very relaxed, but unfortunately, it's normal to be freezing cold due to the lack of heating. Two woodburners with lights in them, please get them working. They now have cabins in the beer garden, we look forward to trying these out in future

I am sorry to say that I was very disappointed and my daughter drove from Berkshire with my grandson, although toward the end of our visit the lady who came with the cheese platter had a much happier attitude than the young girl who took our order , but then that's seems to be the age that makes the difference.

Very quiet when we visited but the service and food was fantastic. My asbo dog Merlin was welcomed and behaved himself impeccably.

Fantastic family lunch! This was the 3rd consecutive week for Sunday lunch for some! There was 4 Roast Beef dinners which was lovely & tender & 2 Roast Chicken which was very succulent & juicy! Absolutely delicious & lovely friendly staff & service! We’ll be back! Thank you The Huntsman Inn.

We met with friends for Sunday lunch yesterday 29th October 2023. We had 3 beef and 1 chicken for lunch (there was no other choice of meats). The chicken was good but the beef was tough and sinewy although there was plenty of vegetables but the roast potatoes were very hard to cut through. We informed the waiter (who actually asked how the meal was) and said he would report our comments back to the chef - we never heard anymore). For the very dear price of £17.95 each for one course, the meal was not up to standard to ask that price - sorry Huntsman Inn but it was not the best.

OMG, this is a wonderful pub! Cozy, friendly and comfortable. We plan to have a meal here this week. Come to Ide, visit The Huntsman! We have returned and enjoyed a lovely meal. So, more than ever, call in to The Huntsman and enjoy a fantastic English pub! P.S. Their Sunday roast is very, very popular, book if you want one!

Great lunch in a relaxing garden

We went to this great pub and sat out in one of their new lodges outside in the beer garden. We all had fantastic food and we were made to feel very welcome by staff and the landlord. I would really recommend anyone to visit this great pub with a great feel to it.

Incredible food. Good selection of drinks and impeccable service. Nothing to fault. Made our evening and will become our regular.

A really warm welcome from the lovely owners and staff. We were a large party who were very well looked after for a lunchtime meal. It was a really enjoyable experience and the extensive outdoor space made it a perfect venue in the sunshine. Everything was spotlessly clean, neat and smart. Indoors is quaint and very cosy and we’d have been more than happy to eat indoors had it been raining. The food was exactly what it said on the menu - they had kept it simple and delicious. All the options we had between us were really tasty and everyone enjoyed their meals. The children were also well catered for. I would definitely recommend it as a place to stop for a meal and beverage. It is homely, comfortable and friendly. The prices are extremely reasonable. Thank you to the staff for making it a great family rendezvous.

It was okay, quaint country pub, I wasn't blown away but it served its purpose. In its favour, there were good outside pods to sit in if it was raining, as seems to be the norm outside quite tatty in places, attention to detail needed to give it " that edge".

Lunchtime - lovely lady behind bar. 3 out 4 meals were fab. Steak pie £17 defo not worth it tho. Didn’t look home made and was dry. Other foods were fab. Will return .

Private function but amazingly catered for, great staff and loved the Ide Garden cocktail.

We went for lunch last Sunday, but found that the menu was somewhat limited. I had the burger with chips, my wife had baked Camembert. Although the service was friendly and the beer good, the quality of the meals was woefully poor. My meal appeared to be very much out of a packet - frozen peas, frozen chips and an awful burger, which seemed to be lacking in beef. My wife's meal consisted of a baked Camembert with slices of baguette, nothing else. She asked for a side salad, for which she had to pay, and this seemed to be a reminder of such a salad in the '60's - slices of tomato and cucumber on lettuce. We had been here a couple of years ago were impressed with the food at that time, but now it was extremely disappointing.

We just moved to the area and had our first meal. It was really good. Ranging from scampi, a beef stew, sausages and mash with onion sauce and a vegetarian pie, everyone enjoyed their food. Nicely presented and pleasant service, good beer too. We will be back.

I don’t live locally to the area but when I was in town I did head back, little under 12 months from my last visit. It was a Sunday and the pie came with all the roast trimmings, amazing lunch. I’ll be back..

Had a superb takeaway meal from the Huntsman's regular menu. Exceptional quality and probably £20 per head (main course and dessert). Definitely do it again and who knows, we might even dine in (the ambience and decor is very warm and homely).

We popped in on Saturday after a day's Christmas shopping un Exeter. Most tables were reserved we know why now. The landlady was incredibly friendly and found us a table. The food was well presented and lovely. The pub was atmospheric and had a lovely feel to it. We will definitely be coming back soon

We booked lunch at this pub as its in the perfect location for meeting up with family, who live in South Devon, whilst we were travelling home from a holiday in Cornwall. We were pleasantly surprised to find it sitting in a quintessential little village. We were greeted with a warm welcome and our party of 13 seated at one end of the delightful bar area. Very dog friendly too. There's a lovely garden outside and ample parking. We'd been asked to pre order our meals which we were happy to do as we were a large group. The food was served efficiently, it was freshly cooked and very tasty. The staff were pleasant and made us feel very comfortable.

Most efficiently organised food preparation and service. A small country pub excelled in coping with a large number/group of customers. Reasonably priced food menu. Would certainly recommend.

We found the quintessential local English pub, The Huntsman in Ide. Just off the A30, we stopped in for lunch, enjoyed friendly quick service, ciders on draft, plenty of food options (delish Steak & Ale pie with mash for me), sparkling clean toilets, and a beer garden out back adjacent to their large car park. On our drizzly Tuesday afternoon, a stream of locals (their regular beers pulled without ordering as soon as they popped in the door) brought the place to life. If we lived 4000 miles closer, we’d be in here every day. Lucky you, residents of Ide!

Trouble on the M5 so we were directed off. We found refuge in a lovely little old pub in a small village called Ide. Very cosy and good selection of beers. It was Sunday evening so food had finished but enjoyed a beer and a pack of proper pork scratchings.

What an unexpected find. We live locally and had never heard of the pub. We will certainly be back. Excellent staff, friendly, willing and attentive. Great food, great beer and fab coffee.

Best pub in the village for food, drink, service and cleanliness. Plus watch out if you go to the other pub, pub dog allowed to roam free unsupervised and can be quite nasty towards other dogs. Much better and safer at the Huntsman.

Came in for 2 coffees and I was charged £8.25!! 1 double espresso and a cappuccino. Really really rude young girl with an attitude stated that for a double espresso you have to pay for 2 full espressos. In all my life of drinking coffee I’ve never faced this!! Ridiculous and it was rubbish coffee!!

Staying at an airbnb to break the journey en route to Cornwall and decided to eat out at this lovely pub. A warm welcome was received well by our wiery selves & two small dogs after a long, hot journey. All the staff were very attentive throughout in this beautiful establishment. We decided to sit inside & ordered a bottle of wine, which was delicious. Our meals were excellent & nicely presented too. Lovely building, immaculately clean, well kept & cosy with welcoming owners & staff, who looked genuinely happy to be there too. What's not to like. Thanks guys for a smashing evening.

Really lovely little pub with friendly staff. Stopped for Sunday lunch - but sadly its only avaliable Sept - March. But had good menu choice, I very much enjoyed a tasty goats cheese and caramelised onion pizza - traditional style thin bread. The fish and chips had good praise from my friend.

Really handy from the M5 so that you can enjoy real food and drink rather than service station food. Excellent cheese plate. Good beer.

This is a perfectly good pub just off the way back from Cornwall to pretty much everywhere. It serves food until 2.00 at lunchtimes and closes from 3.00, so don't go expecting a burger and a beer mid-afternoon. Its location is what makes it a sensible stop.

First of all what service! Staff were lovely and nothing was to much trouble at all! Second the food! Our party of eight all had various meals and everything was superb. Cooked to perfection and very very tasty! All of this in a beautiful environment. Lovely pub would definitely recommend.

Came for a lunchtime extended family meet up, which we'd booked in advance. Staff were really helpful. Food was very tasty; fish and chips generous, vegetarian curry less so. An attractive proper old pub just off A30 and only a junction away from M5 so really convenient. All made for an ideal time together.

Very good service. Polite staff, well organised. Lovely environment. Good beer garden and pub interior. The food was not homemade, probably bought in from Brake Bros or similar so not really to my taste but the price is reflective of that and I’m sure others would be happy.

Went here at last minute with friends for a pub quiz, great atmosphere, friendly locals always down for a laugh. Free cheeseboard in between rounds, cheese was absolutely exquisite. Won multiple raffle prizes and left the pub a happy bunch. Regards to the quizmaster and...

Visited with friends that live locally, who said it's a favourite of theirs. The interior is so cosy and a little quirky, which I love. I imagine it'd be especially lovely at Christmas. Service was great, with friendly, welcoming staff. We loved the Ide Cocktail- though definitely a little dangerous!! I had the steak pie which was excellent. Very filling so we didn't have dessert, but I'm sure it'd have been lovely. All average pub prices but actually I'd say it was really good value for money considering how good the food and drinks were. Absolutely would recommend if you're nearby!
