Fun bedroom decor and super clean and comfortable. Was a lovely touch to have a chocolate Easter bunny waiting for us in time for Easter Sunday! The owner was lovely and made sure we had bus times and numbers for local taxis. There is a bus stop right outside that takes you into town in 10 minutes. A cafe down the road does a great breakfast. Would definitely recommend.

I chose this venue to take my son for an early dinner before a theatre performance, and it was a great choice. We could park right outside and we received a warm hearty welcome from the owner. In fact we were the only people there, but I think that was be because it was so early (5.30 on a Thursday). The interior is very quirky and full of interesting knickknacks, so lots to see. There are lots of board games to play, so this kept my son busy whilst our food was being prepared. The food was excellent. I had the steak, which was cooked to perfection, and my son had sausages. He had a clear plate! We didn't have time for dessert this time, which was a shame. Would highly recommend this restaurant for somewhere very unique but with great home-cooked food.

Living in Germany and having to travel over to UK for a funeral, we searched on line for a B&B reasonably priced and near the Crematorium! We came up trumps with this one. Such a quirky place, full of lots of interesting things and full of character. We were made extremely welcome on our arrival by the owner Louise and she personally showed us to our cute little room named "Daisy". We had an external private bathroom which wasn't a problem for us. Just a few steps outside of our room. The Bathroom was lovely with a large shower which wasn't difficult to fathom out how it worked! Our room was quite small but cosy with a comfortable bed. The continental breakfast was amazing. Not a typical English breakfast but it made a nice change. Such a huge variety of bread, scones, crumpets etc, home made jams, fruits, cereals, cheese,..... the list just goes on. Amazing spread and even at breakfast Louise couldnt do enough for us. She was the perfect host, was extremely friendly, funny, chatty and helpful. We would certainly stay here again and would highly recommend it.

We have stayed here before and would stay again. Our room this time was Lily (we had Daisy before) which had a private external bathroom. Lovely big room with cozy bed and good amenities. Lovely view outside of the snow! The continental breakfast is great and there is lots of choice or cereals, fruits, pastries and various things to toast. I highly recommend the homemade banana bread. We wouldn't hesitate to stay with Louise again, a lovely and friendly host. Bus 30 seconds from the door takes you into Bath in around 10 minutes and runs quite late.

We really enjoyed our three night stay in this B&B.; Our room was comfortable and we had a large bathroom. Despite being near a busy road, we were not disturbed by any noise at night. The B&B; is very clean and we liked the personal touches of unusual pictures and objects. The landlady is very friendly and helpful and I really appreciated the trouble she took to meet my dietary needs. Even though a cooked breakfast is not available, the range of food is impressive, with several choices of fresh fruit, nuts, speciality breads and cakes on offer! The one night we ate in the restaurant was our best experience out of the three eating places we visited. It really felt like home-cooked food and was appetisingly presented. Our only regret is that we booked two days when the restaurant was closed (Sunday & Monday), which made the place feel a little empty. Finally the bathroom experience could be even better with the addition of some higher quality toiletries and guest soaps. We shall clearly be returning on the basis of this visit.

We were made welcome and felt special from the moment we walked in. The food was fresh and prepared with care from scratch, and cooked to perfection. The pub is decorated in a most interesting and eclectic style - a stuffed badger, mannequin heads, huge chinese urns, piles of books, original art - crazy and fascinating! And comfy armchairs or sofas where you can cosy up and take it all in. We were only in Bath for two nights, but having found this place on day one, we couldn't resist coming again! Al final cuando nos dieron la comida era muy promedio sin duda no vale la pena la espera o el coste. Otras dos mesas en la zona nos sentamos así se quejó. Quirky, eclectic decor (which I love!) and a cracking veggie roast lunch. My chap had the rump steak from the specials menu which he polished off - loving the red cabbage and parsnip rosti it was served with. I would have given this review 5 Stars but the chocolate and orange mousse had not a hint of orange. It was just chocolate. Perfectly nice but not what I ordered and what the menu said. Really good value for money too. The biggest compliment from me? I'd go again at the drop of a hat!

Visited last night for a friends birthday meal, I have to say I was really looking forward to trying the "Slow cooked Ribs with BBQ sauce" which I ordered. I was very disappointed with what arrived on my plate, Slow cooked I don't think so! The ribs were tough, hard and really fatty with no flavour, the BBQ sauce was on the side of the plate in a small ramekin and tasted like a supermarket own bargin basement sauce. Everywhere else I have ever ordered "slow cooked ribs with BBQ sauce" the meat is moist and usually just falls off the bone and also cooked & marinated in the BBQ sauce. I spent most of last night & early this morning feeling unwell and i'm not saying this is linked but to be honest I wouldn't be surprised if it was. - My wife was also underwhelmed by her choice of the pan fried Chicken which was heavily over cooked, the bubble & squeak arrived as a black mush on her plate. Sorry to say we will not be visiting again.

I usually stay at hotels so I was slightly apprehensive when my boyfriend booked to stay at a B&B for a weekend away. However, as soon as we arrived I was pleasantly surprised!! The landlady is really nice and makes you feel very welcome. The B&B is separate from the pub and you get your own set of keys to access the B&B side of the building. We booked the rose room (room with four poster bed) and absolutely loved it! The decor is very quirky but adds undoubtedly to its charm. Only slight niggle is the current building site on the opposite side of the B&B. The building site can get slightly noisy in the morning, especially if you have the window open. But it definitely didn't spoil our lovely stay!!The breakfast was continental which was a slight disappointment. For the price we paid (£198 for two nights) I would have expected a cooked breakfast. I would definitely visit this place again!

I loved the eclectic interior, not at all what you would expect in a pub. If anyone's seen Withnail and I, think Uncle Monty's reception room, if you haven't a clue what I'm talking about, picture a boudoir, mixed with a traditional pub, mixed with a provincial museum, mixed with antique shop. Nice ales on sale too. The food was tasty however without any sense that it was home cooked. The mixed platter was plentiful, however, everything e.g. guacamole, hummus came out of catering packets, so it was tasty, but you could tell not artisan, which is a missed opportunity. Nice to see chili con carne on the menu, but again, it was missing some pizzazz, perhaps a dash of red wine to bring out the flavour more?

Last Sunday was a nippy start to the day so I suggested to my partner, "What about dining out" ?I chose this venue because on my past visit it always provided a simple good Sunday roast. The bar area had a nice fire in the grate and the welcome was very friendly. I loved the atmosphere and the splendid alternative bits and bobs which make this hotel/pub so unusual. We were shown our table down the old skittle alley - with the welcoming coal fire now too far way.The radiators were cold and so were we. The waitress took our roast pork order and a pint arrived from the bar. Suddenly a plated meal arrived which took us by surprise because as it proved the meal was over before we arrived as the saying goes. A pudding menu was thrust in our face as our plates were picked up. Sadly this efficiency became over powering. Still cold and settling our bill ; we were back in our still warm car within 30 mins of leaving it.Sadly I have to say this visit was not enjoyable. The food was average the roast potatoes were in my opinion just boiled then a blow lamp flamed their skins. We shall not return.

Very friendly and very cosy atmosphere - the food was very nice and well priced. The interior design was very like alice in wonderlands and a vintage feeling, the only things missing was the fireplace!

Been meaning to visit this local hostelry for a while. Went mid-week when fairly quiet. The food was quite sophisticated and very tasty. The main dishes were distinctive and the vegetables superb, particularly the carrots which were done to perfection and really tasted of carrots, not just a colourful adjunct to the food. The service was faultless and willing! I loved the quirky rich decor. We'll be back!

Walking into the restaurant has the feeling of entering somone's living room - cosy and welcoming. The staff were friendly and helpful, even finding out a fan too cool our table down on a really hot day. The food was beautifully cooked, all homemade, and good portion sizes. The only downside being that we couldn't quite manage a pudding! Lovely restaurant, I would definitely come again when in the area.

Called in on 1st night in Bath after a long journey and didn't feel like going into the city.Great atmosphere, banter and friendly welcoming by all.Food really nice pub food, portions way too large though, couldn't comment on desserts as far too "stuffed" with the main course.Forester and Flower, a great pub with food to match

I visited the Forester & Flower for a meal with new work colleagues on Monday night. Very comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. All the meals looked good, my chicken Ballantine was tasty with a lovely side portion of veggies. Portions were big so nobody could manage a pudding. Would recommend and look forward to going back to my 'new' local.

We came for a friend's birthday mid week and were delighted with the food and the wonderful staff. With a friendly and elegant atmosphere, the venue was only surpassed by the meal. Our party had a diverse selection, from steak to curry. Thick cut chips, homemade sauces and top quality meat and fish featured throughout. The dog friendly policy and the cheerful staff gave the place a accessible and local feel, complimenting the high quality and presentation of the food.

Went for a family meal, food choices very good. Not a huge eater portion sizes more than adequate for price, so didn't eat it all. The taste combination worked together in perfect harmony. Staff were attentive and friendly. Would recommend to anyone as the menu is clearly designed to cater for every need.

we had lunch last sunday, the roast pork was just a pork loin chop without any crackling, and the whole dinner was swimming in bisto gravy, which was very disapointing, small pots of apple sauce, not enough for two people, and small portions of veg, should have stayed at home. The apple crumble was lovely, and a very curious looking scoop of ice cream plonked on a thick slice of orange, you should do better, serve a proper roast and don't try to fool your customers, will not be returning sadly.

Delightful owner and waiting staff, came here for Sunday lunch and not disappointed in any way. The food was of a very good quality and reasonably priced. One of the previous reviewers commented on the need to bring an extra layer to keep warm, and that was the case during our visit. Please don't let that distract you from the fact that this is a charming and quirky place to eat.

Met some American friends here for a meal. We didn't book a table and the pub was pretty busy but they managed to accommodate 8 of us for Sunday lunch which was great. Nice surroundings with quirky ornaments and art!We all ordered a roast dinner (chicken or beef, with a veggie option too) and the beef was delicious, there was plenty of it too. It was served with roast potatoes, vegetables and a gorgeous gravy. All very tasty! Some of the kids had a dessert (grasshopper pie) which they said was good too.the beers, wines and cider was sampled by us all and we had a really good afternoon here.

A must visit and stay. The rooms are an experience not just somewhere to sleep. You can see Kirk and Louise have great pride in seeing their guests go " wow" when they walk in. Breakfast was continental and very fresh and finally somewhere with espresso. We are already considering another trip back because the stay itself is an experience. It's a short taxi/car ride to the city about 5 min but if you don't want to got out they also have a small country pub.

If you want a nice meal don't come here! Antipasti starter was rubbish and over priced - tiny tiny little pots of random stuff - guacamole, hummus, salsa, some horrible cheese and some pitta and meats - the olives were ok! Mains- scampi on its own in a bowl £9!!! So you have to order side chips-they just tasted of fat however much cheap ketchup I used, and so not a good meal overall with no peas, salad, nothing to go with scampi! Veggie tart (with chips! ;-) looked ok but I was told wasn't good either. All in all a massive rip off and disappointing meal out - we're off to sainsburys on the way home now to make up for it with chocolate and ice cream. I hope the owner will read this and rethink! Its not right that places like this think they can get away with this sort of offering at such ridiculous prices!

I don't usually expect much at lunch time in an out of town centre pub - but this was excellent. Fabulous presentation, great flavours (I recommend the home-made tart if available) and wonderful puddings (grasshopper pie was delicious).Everything was home made and it showed. Probably the best pub lunch I've had in a long time.

We came here to check out the refurbishment some years ago, and it is now a firm favourite. We love the fact that this pub has unique style. The decoration with soft furnishings in the bar area give it the feel of a Victorian salon. The traditional pub/restaurant area has nice wooden tables and chairs and art works on the walls - some pictures by local artists are for sale. Good selection of wines and beers and a real ale which is well kept. Food is better than the usual pub menu, prepared on the premises not from freezer bags. We usually share a starter and a pudding because the portions are so generous. Food is nicely presented and the staff friendly and obliging. The star is Louise Flower, the owner, who is welcoming and attentive to detail. And she has a wicked sense of humour and a laugh that is infectious - this place is fun to visit.

Our first visit. What a great way to spend an evening with your nearest and dearest!! Fabulous, filling food in the restaurant which is a converted train carriage. The staff are kind and attentive. The main area of the old pub is full with interesting artefacts - always good talking points. We are coming back again!

Definitely one of my favourite restaurants in the UK. Very underrated IMO. I wish I could eat here regularly but I was just visiting Bath. The produce is so fresh and flavourful. Make a reservation.
