Decent pub at a good location. Bartender had a weird attitude, like he was too cool for me, or couldn’t be bothered. Or rather he interacted with me as though I was annoying him, or taking time away from the conversation he was having with another patron. Also, I ordered a half, but got a pint. Don’t know how you can confuse the two. Whatever. Won’t go back.

It's almost like witnessing the death of the Great British Boozer and most likely not though the greed of the landlord but the greed of the brewery it's just too expensive. A once great pub with the Simple British pub charm it's just not worth more then a quick pint unless you have deep pockets. Service wasnt exceptional either more of a what do you want here it is kind of approach.

A rare old pub serving real ale. A list of nos is what sets this place apart... No food, no cocktails, no juke box, no slot machines, no nonsense, no clutter, no rowdy behaviour. The barman was friendly and knowledgeable about the ales. We went early evening anf there were not many other customers. This would be my local that I visited regularly, if I wanted to drive 2 hours. Bring back more of these genuine pubs.

What a great old worldly pub. A few small rooms all with wood panelling and glass partitions. Old type fireplaces. Wooden floors throughout. Tap beers and real ales available. For a very traditional English pub, The Star Inn is a great choice. Obviously the most important part is the beer and that was first class! I think it had three or maybe four beers on the night we were there and all of them were delicious! It looked like it also had a very good stock of gins, but not sure of anything else. The staff were friendly and efficient without being obsequious.

Been awhile since I visited the Star (NYE actually!). This time (Summer'23), I was served by Angus, who is Brilliant! The Star is a quaint OLD pub, with a good selection of drinks and several separate areas for seating. I'd say it's a "must-visit" for a drink in Bath. (It's part of a little "family", w The Assembly Inn, & the Coeur de Lion - Bath's "smallest pub".) It's all you need from a simple pub - a choice of tipple and a place to sit. Food? I've not tried.. yet!?

I am a huge fan of this pub, which I consider among the best traditional pubs I have ever been! The vibe, the atmosphere and the staff are always incredible and welcoming. Unfortunately I went back yesterday after a long time and I discovered with my deepest sadness that a large tv has been placed in one of the rooms, just on top of the piano. Why??! Ok, there is the rugby, but people don't go to the Star to watch the rugby, they go for the intimate charming atmosphere and the fireplaces. Please, please, please consider removing the tv from there. The risk is that in few years the Star will end up just another average traditional pub with slot machines and football games. Please don't do that! :( Reply: Ok, it turned out the tv was temporary! (Phew!!) 5 stars then, no doubt!

I recently had the pleasure of enjoying a pint at The Bear & Swan in Chew Magna, and it was a fantastic experience. The pub has a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with a charming blend of traditional and modern decor. The selection of beers was impressive, and the pint I had was perfectly chilled and delicious. The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. The cozy seating and the lovely ambiance made it a great place to relax and unwind. The Bear & Swan also offers a wonderful menu, and although I was there just for a drink, the food looked and smelled amazing. I can’t wait to come back and try some of their dishes. Overall, The Bear & Swan is a gem of a pub. Whether you’re looking for a place to enjoy a quiet pint or a lively evening with friends, this is the spot. Highly recommend!
