Amazing place, so glad I got a chance to stop in. Strong range of ales. Chatted with the owners who are lovely and who showed me how they get their unique and famous barrels of Bass in. Obviously a great place for locals. How a pub should be!

Great old style pub. Nothing changed for 200 years, no tv, no piped music, no fruit machines. Firs in the winter, Bass straight from the barrel. A must visit f you're visiting Bath and like unchanged pubs, with good beer and conversation.

Classic, traditional boozer. Very cosy, great beer, and a great pint of very hard to find Bass straight from the barrel. Very friendly staff. No music and food, which is great - you come here to chat and enjoy some drinks!

Loved this little traditional pub. Oozes an abundance of worn charm. Had a great conversation with one of the locals. A small selection of cask ale.

Star is a such lovely pub in wich you can drink a different kind of beer with local people. The feeling is really nice to have a rest from your tour in bath.

Loved the piano that anybody could walk up to and play. Stick an acoustic guitar in there and I think you’ll have a winning formula.

Nice little pub. Interesting atmosphere but friendly and all good. Good service and was open til Modnight as I made my slow way home!

Been awhile since I visited the Star (NYE actually!). This time (Summer'23), I was served by Angus, who is Brilliant! The Star is a quaint OLD pub, with a good selection of drinks and several separate areas for seating. I'd say it's a "must-visit" for a drink in Bath. (It's part of a little "family", w The Assembly Inn, & the Coeur de Lion - Bath's "smallest pub".) It's all you need from a simple pub - a choice of tipple and a place to sit. Food? I've not tried.. yet!?

Favourite pub in Bath - delightfully cosy spot with a fire going in the winter, a nice selection of ales (the Abbey Bellringer is fabulous) and light bites. Tables can seat eight people or so - and you can fit a pram / dog in the room to the left fairly comfortably. Nice quiet crowd; people just chatting or reading the paper etc. Highly recommend! Excellent, very traditional, friendly and one of the oldest place in Bath to relax & socialise. Unlike the other typical pubs, at The Star Inn we don't have a TV or music. This enables you to socialise in the real sense. Could meet some very friendly people during our visit

Top drinkers pub in Bath. Great landlord (John) who keeps great Bass and a selection of locally brewed Abbey Ales. No food (except for some fresh made rolls), no juke box, no slot machines, no TV's. Occasional live music. Open fires in winter.

Best Pub in Bath without a doubt. "Bass" ▲ served straight from the barrel, and a selection of real ales to satisfy any beer lover. Fresh filled rolls and the 1960s interior with a myriad of small rooms, just adds to the whole experience of "going out for a pint". Fantastic.

Fantastic little bolt hole. Called in to get out of an autumnal shower. Warm little pub with fires lite in each room. Friendly staff and locals too. Stepped in history.

A nice traditional pub except no cash payments!! Very friendly atmosphere and does not discriminate in my 3 evenings I spent around the pub it had people from every walk of life in there and most where willing to talk to an out of towner which made my life easier, nothing worse than walking into a clicky pub full of locals that don't want your arse there thats not the case with the Star Inn loads of history fire place and plenty of seating I stayed across the road from here and found it very pleasant with lots of local beers on tap and the usual, fairly priced.

Great pub with period features, as it is one of the oldest in Bath. Good atmosphere with local real ale beer featured. Staff had a good knowledge of what they were offering. The pub is old fashioned, cosy, a bit dark and has period fittings with no machines TV or noise. Worth visiting to see the heritage interior and experience a part of life and a building in Britain, now sadly disappearing in its original form.

Excellent pub with several small rooms. Staff are friendly and welcoming. The beer is well kept and real ale is dispensed by hand pump and in jugs from the cask.

Old fashioned darkly lit boozer for the locals - open late. Very spit and sawdust but very popular, just not for me!

I am a huge fan of this pub, which I consider among the best traditional pubs I have ever been! The vibe, the atmosphere and the staff are always incredible and welcoming. Unfortunately I went back yesterday after a long time and I discovered with my deepest sadness that a large tv has been placed in one of the rooms, just on top of the piano. Why??! Ok, there is the rugby, but people don't go to the Star to watch the rugby, they go for the intimate charming atmosphere and the fireplaces. Please, please, please consider removing the tv from there. The risk is that in few years the Star will end up just another average traditional pub with slot machines and football games. Please don't do that! :( Reply: Ok, it turned out the tv was temporary! (Phew!!) 5 stars then, no doubt!

Good place for live music , £5:50 for a pint of Guinness (expensive in my opinion) but I would recommend it for a pub worth visiting

One of the greatest pubs. Like going back to a time when pubs were just about good beer drank with good friends.

One of the nicest pubs I've ever been to. I can't praise the bar staff enough. They have a shove ha'penny board - ask the bar staff about it!

What a great pub, good ale selection and cosy inside. I forgot.to add they have a brilliant whisky selection, they also have some very worthy guest ales, being Christmas twelfth night is a good tipple

Best pub in Bath if you want a proper pub. Beer. Spirits. Filles rolls and pickled eggs. If you are lucky then free cheeae and biscuits on the bar.

Came in here a couple of times on a recent trip to Bath. Very lucky to catch the 'Jazz' night. Amazing evening and sat with some very friendly regulars.

Good beer, whisky and gin selection

The staff were lovely, punters were nice, the outside really draws you in…the interior is reeeally outdated. The walls are a mustard colour from years of smoking inside. It’s quite small but could looking bigger or offer more seating space if the wooden vault was taken out. Small snacks and drinks - no pub food available.

Not what I expected what a surprise

Proper old fashion pub ,very friendly place a good variety of beers, definitely worth a visit.

I don't come to this pub very often but when I find myself in this part of Bath I like to pop in for a pint. It is just the perfect pub. Unpretentious, understated, no loud music. Just good beer and a lovely atmosphere. Long may it stay this way.
