Rooms aren’t the best, staff are very friendly

We booked the table for 6pm and couldn't believe what was in front of us when we got there. There was only one yorkshire pudding left, which we had to share, the sprouts (which I normally love) were inedible. There were no carrots left, what veg was there was dry and unappetising. I had roast pork but there was no apple sauce. I left a good deal of my food whereas I normally clear my plate. There were only two types of desert left to choose from. We ordered our desert to go but there was no cream or custard with them. We wanted a cigarette and went through a door marked 'To Our Garden' this led to another door and a space with another door in front of us which turned out to be a toilet which, at a glance, looked pretty grim. There was a green curtain to the right which ,when pulled aside, led to a store room of some kind, all concrete and dust. Then another door which led to a landing of sorts which was inches deep in wet leaves. I refused to go any further as I was disgusted. On the plus side the barmaid was very nice but kept disappearing. I understand that we booked a late table, but surely the booking should not have been accepted if they were running out of food and maybe didn't have any other bookings so late. The food, at other times, may well be delicious but I certainly won't be returning to find out.

What a find. If I could give the Crown more than 5 stars, I would. I have stayed here on several occasions over the last year, and wouldn't stay anywhere else when near Bristol. David, the owner and staff are lovely, rooms are great and food is fab. As I am on my own, everyone at the Crown has always made me feel very welcome Thank you

We had our staff party here. Great place which was the perfect size for our party. Friendly welcome and delicious food. Reasonably priced drinks too. Big thanks for everyone :-)

I arranged my work Christmas party at the crown last week and it was great. We pre arranged a buffet and a welcome drink for arrival and all of the requests were taken care of perfectly and ready on arrival. The buffet was lovely and had ample food . We had a fantastic night. Would definitely recommend for a private function!

Just wanted to put an appreciation post, on here - as one of a family party of 20 who absolutely, and thoroughly enjoyed our Christmas get together At The Crown last night. The food, and service was 10/10 👏 I can honestly say, it was without a doubt one of the BEST Christmas party meals ever!! Please say a huge thank you, to the hard working kitchen and serving staff - plus yourselves of course, for creating such a lovely atmosphere 👏🥰

What can I say. Horrible place with horrible staff. Arrived for a 1 night stay with 2 small children. We were advised 24 hours before our stay that there would be live music, however as both the pubs website and Google state the bar is only open until 10pm this didn't appear to be an issue. Arrived to check in and they didn't have a key for our room. Waited over an hour for a key to be provided. The room was grubby (room 2) and looks nothing like the photos advertising it. 1. Wall paper peeling off the walls 2. In general just wasn't clean.... Had a really grotty feeling to it. 3. Shower door was broken and did not close 4. Numerous blotches of black mould throughout the room and bathroom 5. Fireplace full if cobwebs and just generally grim.... God knows when it was last actually used but didn't look like it had been cleaned for years! 6. Bedroom door lock was broken and the door barely closed. Breakfast. Do not tick for breakfast!! Breakfast is advertised as being a selection of cereal, fresh pastries, fresh fruit and cereal bars. We were given 4 stale pastries and a couple of small boxes of cornflakes. Come the morning the 4x crossionts were rock solid and inedible. I asked the female manager if we could have some fruit as advertised and cereal bars again as advertised and she advised they didn't have any. No refund offered on the additional breakfast charge which was pathetic and not provided. Milk is in a communal mini fridge in the hallway outside the rooms.... Crusty around the opening so god knows how long it had been then and was sat alongside an open pack of out of date ham 🤢 The room comes with a kettle and a coffee machine so that you can make fresh coffee in the morning. Would be really helpful if they had fuses in them so all of the electrical items in the room were unusable. There was 1 fuse in the electric fan 🤣 Advised to just move it between what we wanted to use.... Yeah because we travel with a screwdriver 🙈 Live music..... Family room directly above the bar. Live music does not bother us. However when advertised that the bar closes at 10pm for the music to still be full volume and not finishing until gone midnight is unacceptable when guests are not made aware of this beforehand. We spoke to the female manager who advised "sometimes we change the closing times". Not really an acceptable answer. The food offering is poor. Literally just pies and is different to what is advertised on the website so this needs to be updated. 2 non veg items on the children's menu and they didn't have one of them available so only 1 option on the kids menu. We requested a call from the manager the following day. This could have been very easily rectified with an apology and an offer of a refund for the non existent breakfast offering, however I don't think she has ever trained in people skills. There was no apology offered, and her attitude was honestly poor and a poor representation of the establishment. Would we return..... Absolutely not. Does the manager need further training in customer service.... Absolutely. Would love a conversation with the actual owners, however apparently they are unavailable to speak with guest's

Great find of a place, handy to visit the Bristol area. Very friendly staff. Lovely rooms. The food sounds good too, but sadly I didn't actually eat there.

Probably the worst steak I've ever had quite tough and very chewy. The waitresses were polite enough but light on information and not one call back after being served our meals. People arriving after us were told that about half the menu was unavailable. While tidy enough, the place felt a little dirty.

Stayed here as we were going to Fear Avon Valley Park. Staff were super nice and rooms were quite nice, although quite cold. Food here is great too, we ate before leaving and the staff were understanding of our time constraints. Thinking of coming back to stay here next year when we go to Fear again :)

We stayed the night. It was fine. Nice room, and the restaurant/pub was a good extra. Did not have to walk far to get to bed.

Really great value for money and what we needed for the night. Room was great. Parking wasn’t brilliant, defo needs a car park.

Just had a Sunday roast carvery. I have a roast out every week and can honestly say it was one of the best I've had in a long long time. 10 /10

Great friendly staff food very nice...

OK but not brilliant. Check in was quick and easy and room was an upgrade as it had an ensuite. Plenty of tea and coffee available, boxed cereals and pain au chocolat. If you don't mind being woken up before seven o'clock on a Sunday, then this is the perfect place for you! Sounded like there was a party going on 🤬 Not sure if it was the rugby club from over the road or workmen??? Then, to make matters worse, I wasted a whole box of cereal as the milk had gone off and was lumpy 🤮 so breakfast was a croissant. Informed the lad cleaning but he never apologised or offered a replacement breakfast. Informed the lady about this and she did apologise. Luckily, this morning the milk was ok and I was able to have a decent breakfast.

After a disappointing roast take away last week, I contacted the owner of the pub to highlight the issue. He was away on holiday so unaware of the substandard meal that had been supplied, but responded quickly and was most apologetic. He invited us to the pub for a roast lunch today to demonstrate the standard of the food that is usually served and I am pleased to say that it was really good - hot, fresh vegetables, tender meat and tasty gravy. We would definitely go back!

A group of us stayed in the rooms. Very well decorated and beds very comfortable, bags of room. The staff were excellent, very helpful. The food was good too, good value on the menu. One of the evenings we went back with a bigger group (cricket team and wives!) and despite food supposed to stop at 9 and pub close at 10 they ignored those and made us really welcome as long as we wanted. Definitely recommend as a good value place to stay

Don't Order For Delivery Placed order for delivery for roast dinner - description was Roast Beef Served with creamy mash, roasted potatoes, stuffing, Chantenay carrots, green beans, tenderstem broccoli, crispy kale, homemade Yorkshire pudding, and unlimited gravy! Roast beef tough No mash Hard roast potatoes which couldn't be eaten No green beans Regular Brocoli not Tenderstem No kale One slice regular carrot not chantenay 1/2 filled pot of gravy which I believe was Bisto Would not recommend at all. Should have cancelled the order rather than sending out the offering they did! Will add that I have visited and ordered from here previously but this was really disappointing and has totally put me off ordering/visiting again.

I've stayed here twice whilst travelling for sports. Staff always friendly and welcoming. The pub is welcoming and food is great. Definitely worth every penny. Lots of places to explore.

Our first time here, made to feel extremely welcome, we had the ploughman's , it was A1, will be back to have the pie. And bring biscuits for Tilley.

Been staying here for a good few years on the fake festival weekend. Couldn’t be any closer! Good food and clean and tidy.

Sunday roast absolutely disgusting, couldn't even slice through a roast potato! All the vegetables very bland, either raw or very burnt. NOT what you expect with the prices being charged. Very disappointing.

My wife and I were given a Red Letter Experience voucher for a 3 course meal and glass of wine. I hadn't booked it quite right but the manager quickly sorted that out for me. We then enjoyed wonderful service, everything at the right pace for us. My wife's 3 courses were completely different to mine and all 6 dishes were just what we wanted, both in terms of quality and quantity. I would not hesitate to go back and pay for meal.

Excellent place to stay. All aspects very good.

As a couple, we experienced a bottomless brunch served by Abbie who was very hospitable and attentive. The jackfruit burger was tasty and the double bacon cheeseburger was also really enjoyable. Passion fruit martini with raspberry sprinkle topping was also delightful and moreish. Would highly recommend.

Enjoyed our time at the crown lovely bedroom, good food, nice and friendly staff, will be back.

Came to the crown for an afternoon tea which was recommended by a friend. When we got there, they couldn’t find our booking. In which after a few minutes we were told they had put us in for the ecening by mistake. Staff were kind and apologetic. We’re then told will take 45 minutes to make fresh scones. When the food arrived all of the pastries were still frozen and the wraps were not edible. The staff apologised and offered for us to come back another day. Not happy with the fact all the food was still frozen and didn’t get an apology or refund.

Stayed one night. One staff member doing everything and he was excellent. Room very basic but clean. However, no hot water at sink. Sewage smell when macerator running, wooden boards under mattresses, door squeaky extremely loudly, continental breakfast poor value for £75 a night. Window surround removed and not restored. This place obviously needs some tlc and maintenance

We went for a bottomless brunch yesterday bought as a Christmas present. We had an absolutely amazing time, the drinks were brilliant and the food was lovely. We tried lots of different cocktails but the Bakewell cocktail was the best by far! The shining star was the barmaid called Abi, she was so attentive and truly made our experience amazing! Would definitely book another bottomless brunch here again in the future!

What a find! Stayed here to be close to the airport. Room was big and the bed was massive. Usual tea and coffee facilities were accompanied with everything you wanted including toothbrushes, deodorants and other toiletries. Breakfast cereals were even provided. Parking on the street outside was available, staff very friendly, will use again.

I can’t rate rooms or location but service was disgraceful. Booked there as we was told on booking they served lamb so not all the party had dinner so asked for a refund on the 2 carvery tickets that were unused, they said we all had eaten and they need to check cameras came back to bar, the manager had disappeared as he knew he was in the wrong, he came out after I asked for an apology so overall a horrible experience we did get the 2 carvery tickets taken off bill eventually but being told by a local in there we drive around the county getting free meals was awful, I will always pay for what I had so feeling very sad and angry that people serving the public can be rude you will get treated how you treat others so that was with rudeness which is unlike me

The food is amazing and the hospitality is second to none. I am a vegetarian and had the best Sunday roast lunch yesterday that I have had in years. The staff were very friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you.

Great beer in top condition (Golden hen) Service was a bit sporadic. Quite a stark bar area with peeling ceiling paper. Menu appears to be quite good with several patrons taking advantage of the January deals.

Nipped in for a pub lunch today and to watch the FA Cup. Very good pub food, and very good prices. Will be back!

Wait for food was really long, over 1hr for main course. Reply from business says it all. 2 people, 2 main courses - over an hour wait for a burger and a steak - I would have been better off going to a McDonald's.

Needs to make less food that is better quality: portions was just too generous for anyone to come close to finishing, could have dished up a bit less and put a bit more seasoning on everything. The meal did not cost £8 for 2 courses as stated below. Prebooked a Christmas lunch yet no one had told the kitchen staff our order which is perhaps why the meal was lower quality than what the crown normally offers Great atmosphere, lovely log fire and kind staff.

Lovely pub with rooms. Ideally placed for Bristol and Bath. Nice warm, quick check in. Room well appointed with a good ensuite, an unusual addition was an electric blanket, not that it was needed. Food menu was varied with good sized portions. A good selection of beverages was available. Breakfast was a continental in the room. All in all a very nice stay.

Having used Krackers delivery during Covid and had takeaway meals there we kept saying we must go for food. Finally made it tonight. Very very pleasantly surprised. Welcoming and attentive staff, delicious pie, mash and veg. Scrummy choc fudge cake with custard. Very reasonably priced great food. We will be back.

Went for breakfast with Santa this morning. It was absolutely fantastic. Great atmosphere, very friendly staff, great price and the breakfast was absolutely amazing. The sausages, bacon and black pudding was by far the best I have ever tasted. But the best was Santa, very jolly, friendly and absolutely amazing. The children and adults enjoyed it very much. We will definitely be back next year ❤️

Booked for early lunch very warm welcome by a lovely young lady. Meals arrived quickly ordered Chicken Escalope topped with bbq sauce,cheese and bacon, chips and side salad. It was presented nicely and I have got to say both me and my hubby thought it was the nicest and tastiest meal we have had for a long time. Its a very old traditional pub with a large open fire but because we arrived just as they were opening they hadn't had time to light it so it was very cold ,I kept my coat on. By the time we were leaving the pub had started to warm up,however we will definitely be visiting again as the food was exceptional, we will just go slightly later in the day.

Sunday lunch for the last 3 weeks that i have been there was beyond expectations. I would recommend the venue to everyone visiting Keynsham on a Sunday but overall the whole Menu is worth the money. See you Sunday Angie.

Ordered a roast carvery for Sunday lunch delivery. For a takeaway it was great. I'm not a fan of roast potatoes and theirs tasted odd flavour. I did request parsnips but none in order. So much other veggies and all tasted lovely. But best of all was the carvery meats. We had in our delivery turkey, beef and gammon and there was a lovely amount and good cuts. Turkey for me was beautifully cooked. Will definitely order again but must improve the Yorkshire puds, all ours small and soggy. Gravy lovely in separate pots.

Great value bottomless brunch and very friendly staff. The food was really tasty and hot. The rest of the menu and events seem really good value as well, we will definitely go again.

Had an absolutely excellent Sunday Roast, Solomon the new chef, exceeded all expectations, for a young lad, he made our Sunday , which we will definitely be coming back next week

An ok pub, nicely decorated with a large garden, but no parking and service somewhat lacking, would recommend other pubs in the high street just up the hill.

Weird place to stay. Room wasn’t great, very thin walls. Shared bathroom which wasn’t the best. Must park your car on the road. Food wasn’t great and the breakfast was a very sad looking apple and some pain au chocolates.

We were hugely impressed with the planning process of external catering for our event (which was held away from The Crown). Chatting to Dave gave us a great deal of confidence regarding the service and he/they didn't let us down! We were offered lots of options and ideas that we hadn't thought of. We were also helped with the ideas for the practical items such as plates, cutlery etc leaving us with nothing to be worried about. Great food, great value and great service. We would recommend!

Treated the kids to lunch as part of a Groupon deal. Really good varied menu and a good price (even without the voucher!) Chips were delicious, portion sizes good. Staff were friendly and attentive We will go again!

Seen the post on facebook for their Caribbean night. Booked for my wife and I as I love Caribbean food. The food was a wide range of Beef Oxtail, Curried Goat, Chicken Brown Stew, fried chicken, Jerk chicken , wings etc, with rice, vegetables, dumplings etc, and all you can eat. Food tasted fantastic, and the staff really friendly. Will 100% be coming back for their other themed nights. 10/10 Chris Farmer

Just got back from having a roast here with my partner and just wanted to say what a lovely roast it was, I had the pork, he had the beef, both were really tasty, portion sizes were great, lovely presentation, good value for money, overall one of the best roasts we have had in a pub so thank you!

Myself and 6 friends visited for some food and drinks for a couple of hours and it was fab. Food was good and some great drinks offers. Fin was a great waiter/ bar man who was very helpful

We normally stay in Keynsham to see family & friends as we live abroad. We booked a stay at this establishments & we’re only going to stay one night. But due to family difficulties had to change our arrangements for 4 nights. Due to circumstances changes we went to Lyme Regis for a birthday celebration. When we came back to our room which we had paid for!! to the crown we went to our room to put our belongings in their. We went out for a drink & a meal only later to receive a phone call stating we have had our belonging taken out of our room &!would be booked elsewhere. I found this totally unacceptable & won’t be staying at this establishment again.

Went to the crown yesterday the 9th Booked a table for four for 1,45pm, for a carvery, arrived on time only to find that it was not a carvery anymore. the girl behind the bar said find yourself a table, the only one was in the back room. We ordered drinks and my daughter asked what the menu was, she was told there was beef, pork and gammon. we ordered one adult beef, one adult gammon. one adult beef and gammon and one children's beef, we sat and waited to be served for the next hour - none of the staff passing by with food asked us if we were ok or if we had ordered. The girl from behind the bar came in and said sorry but our order had not been passed to the kitchen and now the beef and gammon had run out so we could only have pork or chicken, we had no choice but to revise the order, after another 20 mins they served the veg, then the meat, the veg was just warm and the pork was served without apple sauce also the chicken was over cooked, the server came back to say we could have some free drinks - two cokes and a small cider. When I paid the bill there was no apologies offered. Needless to say we will not be going to the Crown ever again,

We visited pub as a party of 6 plus baby . We pre-booked on there website two days prior to arrival . Table wasn’t ready , which wasn’t a huge problem just waited for lady to set it up with a high chair . Just wondered why other tables had reserved on but not ours . We had to wait quite a while for food to come out and only one cauliflower cheese between six! The other vegetables were plentiful but quite hard so no one could eat them . The meal overall was t bad but not great , just ok , the pub looked like it could do with a clean especially walk way to garden . Dog poo in garden so had to be careful where walking. So won’t be rushing back to eat there again .

My friends and I were really excited to visit the Crown after finding their bottomless brunch menu on their website. We were blown away by the menu it looked amazing. It offered 14 delicious looking mains and a selection of tasty looking burgers. At £30 a head you get to chose a main and then a really good selection of cocktails etc. I booked online a week before our visit which was confirmed via email. When we arrived we walked up to the bar to be seated by the man behind the bar. After waiting a few minutes he came over to take our drinks order when i explained I had booked a table for bottomless brunch. I was met with a very awkward silence and a blank stair like I was a bit crazy. I started to wonder if we were in the wrong place! I repeated myself a few times and he then said I don’t have your booking. I then showed him my confirmation email. He wondered off to find an old book that has hand written bookings in their and the whole day was blank.. He then said it’s ok you can sit in the room behind the bar where it’s a bit more quiet and he’ll turn on the lights. We wondered round to a dark dingy room where we sat down. We waited around 15 before he turned the lights on, it was so dark! We were very confused by this point. We waiting around 30 minutes on our own until my friend walked up to the bar to ask for the menu and for some service. There were already menus on the table but these looked like children’s menus, hungry horse style menus. (Pic attached). He sent her back with the same hungry horse style and said we get to choose any main in the yellow section of the menu…. This displayed 2 mains for £12.. it was like a children’s menus, sausage and mash with my Prosecco and cocktails!? We were thinking Surely not, this can’t be right, are we in the right place!? Another 10 minutes went by when the man came out with a toll receipt which had some drinks written on it and he said we can have any of these. A single and a mixer or a cocktail off their taps, not hand made. He said he’s busy as was the only one there and had to stay behind the bar. How were we going to get served at our table!? He said if he’s not too busy he can try and make us a proper cocktail but couldn’t give us any promises! We explained that this was not the menu they advertised etc and he looked at us like we were mental. We then said the mains are £6 each so the alcohol for 2 hours would be £24!? He replied saying yes this is a good deal… there’s no way we could drink £24 worth of alcohol EACH in 2 hours. They were advertising on the bar 2 jugs of cocktails for £12 which would mean we would need to drink 4 jugs of cocktails EACH to get our moneys worth!!! He started getting his back up said to us ‘I’m not going to get funny with you girls here’ although we were being very polite and just very confused which was justified!! We ended up leaving after an hour of waiting around and going to Mokka which was amazing and we were lucky to get a table. We were very disappointed with the crown after booking well in advance, taking days off of work and child care for the special occasion. Absolutely catfished and will certainly not return!!!

We have just had a family meal at the crown and I have to say everyone's food all 8 of us was just amazing and great value. Excellent service from bartender also. David this pub is a credit to you.

After a long day watching football we wanted a roast before long journey back. I got to say the meat the was lovely but the veg wasn’t cooked and the roast potatoes tasted like they were microwaved. Except that staff was friendly and lovely little pub :)

Only thing good about this place is that it’s cheap… staff are extremely unfriendly and the food is mediocre at a push. Don’t come here if you value your time…

The Crown is firmly at the budget end of the accommodation market, but if you're looking for good value you won't be disappointed. My (single) room was clean and comfortable, with decent furniture, including a wash-basin coffee-maker and a quality telly. Being at the front of the building there was some light traffic noise, but the glazing reduced this to a faint swish. Bathroom/WC are shared (as you'd expect at this price point) but were clean and decent. The pub itself is pleasant enough, with a well-stocked bar and a decent choice of food - my steak was just right and the passing plate of fish & chips looked pretty good too. The continental breakfast in-room was somewhat light so a mid-morning top-up will likely be needed. Service was friendly and helpful. Only minor grumble is that I wasn't warned on arrival that the kitchen was about to close, and options in Keynsham reduce rapidly after 9, but I found a curry-house! Yes, I'd stay here again.

I stayed in room 6 and the smell was awful perhaps embedded in the carpet even opening a window didn’t help. Also the mattress was lumpy. The shared bathroom is between 7 rooms which isn’t ideal but I guess the cheap price reflects that. Very clean overall and the small details like deodorant, hair bands , toothbrush is a lovely touch In the rooms. Shame about the bad smell.

Pub located at the end of Keynsham - a bit far away from the main drag, but the staff were friendly and a good selection of drink. We attended a family party in their small function room.

Bar staff- great, carvery server staff-awful. Server proceeded to talk over us to her friend, dumped the meat onto our plates with no attention to detail, meat had string and tin foil attached to it.

This is a little gem. Rooms have such character and super style. Food is to die for. Service and atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. Beds are super comfy. Lots of little extras make you feel so welcome. Definitely recommend.

Wow…just wow…That is what you call a carvery! Selection off all meats were available which is carved to you and then over 12 types of vegetables seasoned to perfection which you help yourself to. Staff amazingly attentive and couldn’t do enough for you. Beautiful quirky venue with a lovely ambiance. Only the best at this place and top tier for sure.

Very comfortable stay in this above pub accommodation. One of the employees Stan was very helpful on phone and in person. We checked in with no problems. The rooms were clean. Everyone got a good night sleep. Very nice beds/bedding. Parking free across road in football car park. Complimentary snacks given. Thank you very much.

Took my mother in law for mother's day lunch, food vey nice but the young supervisor was a nightmare, we arrived about 10 minz before our booking time, but our table was not ready and was asked to go to the annex and wait, 40 mins later still waitig so i went back to see what was happening, a very nice member of staff sqeezed us in but it was tight. No one came to see what we wanted I ended up having to find someone. When i went to pay the bill, the supervisor was serving a gentleman to my right when he finished he ignored me and went to serve a gentleman on my left who told him i was next, i had to tell the supervisor twice what i needed to pay, i moved near to the till only to find him serving someone else. Looked at me and walked off the ladynin a white top took my payment, the place seemed over booked very crowded not going back

I’ve only just checked in but I had to leave a review, I called up early doors to request that I check in a bit earlier, they were more than happy to accommodate. When I arrived the staff were incredibly helpful and welcoming, had a great chat with the gent on the bar whilst the lady who cleaned the rooms was just finishing up, both greeted me with a smile, the room has everything you’d want, for my room I paid less than £60 and the room has a full range of toiletries, an array of food for breakfast, an alarm clock with a built in wireless charger, a decent sized tv, comfy beds, a coffee filter machine, a beautiful sink in the corner. You honestly can’t go wrong for the price, I accidentally stumbled upon a hidden gem and I know that I’ll be coming back.

The rooms are clean, but they can be worked on more. Although the building is old, that should not be an excuse for the necessary overhaul in the hotel part. A nice bar that serves cheap and tasty food. The service from the young man was very good. The working fireplace gives extra coziness, especially on cold winter days.

Lovely, helpful staff and generous portions of food. The breaded mushrooms were delicious, followed by a tasty Chilli non Carne (a vegan option). Our friend was able to sit on his mobility scooter at our table and our waitress was so helpful. Many thanks.
