Had a lovely sunday lunch with family today to celebrate a birthday, we all went for the roast beef which came with plenty of veg and potatoes. The staff were friendly and attentive. We will definitely be returning very soon.

I would have rated this experience as excellent as the food was some of if not the best pub food I have had recently, it is a shame that the exceptional food was not replicated with exceptional service as we felt that anything we asked for (which should have been standard) like extra cutlery and condiments seemed like an effort to provide especially as the pub wasn’t exceptionally busy . Great food but perhaps an off night for service .

EDIT to correct pub response below - I’ve never, ever, used the pub to park and get the bus anywhere - I’ve used it to come to the pub only! Which is what I said on the phone (before she hung up!) This business seem to want to lose customers by being extremely rude and lying. Weird. Further, I described the parking system as ‘newer’, not new. I haven’t been while it’s been in place, unsure why that is even worth a comment from you to be honest. Last edit to say, I think the worst part of this is that your barmaid spoke the way she did and you have not even commented on it let alone apologised. Thanks for the £20 fine in order to spend money in your pub. Really really poor behaviour from you. Parking fine for visiting the pub. Just had a terrible call with a member of staff here. My friend and I came in on a Saturday evening. We had one pint each and then left. We had parked in the carpark, as we have before, but not seen the newer signs saying you have to let the bar staff know your registration number when you go in. The bar staff also didn't ask us for our car reg (the rude woman on the phone just told me they are supposed to, but 'sometimes one slips through'). On Monday I got a letter from an aggressive parking company demanding money for not parking within the parking regulations (ie giving them my reg). I called the pub on Monday and explained we had been customers and spent money in there so we should be able to park - I was told to provide evidence of our custom to the enforcement company and it would be cancelled, which I did yesterday. The enforcement company just replied saying I still have to pay a fine despite the evidence of payment to the pub on the night. I just called the pub to ask them to help, and the woman who answered said no. I said I thought it was embarrassing of them to make customers have to pay enforcement fines despite having spent money in the pub, and she said she's not embarrassed and that they don't care anyway as they're always fully booked!!!! (again, they were practically empty on the Saturday night we went in - there was no one else sat in the main bar and only one other couple sat in the fireplace area). Then she hung up on me! It's such an odd way for a company to behave. I can totally understand not wanting people to use the carpark if they're not using the pub, but we did use it and have before - my friend lives right near them in the village! We're two intelligent people and we didn't notice the signs either when entering or exiting. The staff didn't mention the new rule either. If there's no flexibility on this then you should be ashamed.

Popped in for lunch on Thursday (5th Sept) Absolutely amazing food and some of the best service I've ever recieved from from the lady who greeted me upon arrival. Luckily she reminded me to give her my car registration! I'll definitely be back and will recommend this pub to friends and family the next time we get together. The staff are a credit to the pub and make this place feel like a home away from home. Look forward to my next visit!

Very friendly staff good food and excellent price 👌

Came in for afternoon tea with a couple of my friends. Staff were amazing had countless check backs for more teas and coffee. No faults. Was also reminded when entering and leaving about having to put my car reg in.

I have to be honest and say I was not looking forward to our meal as I have had a previous bad experience but everyone deserves a second chance and boy was I glad I went. The pub was clean and welcoming, staff were extremely helpful and the food was absolutely delicious, all in all a great experience and I will definitely be back and recommending to others .

Went for an evening meal in the week. Food was very good, generous portions. The ribs were superb and ham my friend had was thick and tasty. Staff were all very pleasant and personable. Took another friend on Sunday as I was impressed by previous visit. Roast dinners were not hot, food was lacking in taste, pork had no taste at all. Asked for gravy without alcohol content( some places have now flagged this on menu as an 'Allergy' and provide alternative non alcoholic gravy). Veg was small for 3 people and watery. One of my roast potatoes was black inside which I pointed out to server. Staff were all very pleasant and no complaints there. Hope this was an aberration as we like the environment, and had a cracking meal previously. 8.5/10 for first visit. 4.5/10 for second visit. Will try again in a couple weeks!

I booked afternoon tea for my Mum's birthday celebration. She turned 82 on 24 Aug this year. A party of 8 of us were seated in the refurbished Buddha Barn whilst surroundings looked lovely we were the only ones there!! No atmosphere. Then the stands came, not impressed at £21.95 per head I expected better. Value for money it was not, no choice of sandwich fillings and they were the cheapest sandwich fillings you could imagine ham, cheese, tuna and egg. The service was not brilliant either 1 pot of tea between 6 as 2 had soft drinks. I have emailed The Crown with a complaint and no response. Extremely disappointed will not be going back there for some time.

Came here to celebrate my mother in law's 88th birthday, and from start to finish, we received really excellent service. We had a range of dishes, all of which were nicely cooked and good portions. The reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is simply because the steaks two of us ordered were just tasteless, such a shame. Despite that, I would highly recommend the Crown for everything else. Especially the staff who were simply lovely. Fab setting and great value for money.

Had a lovely Sunday roast in a very nice setting

Lovely bitter, cracking pie! Called in on spec en route home from late hospital appointment. Last visited in 2019. Top quality chicken, ham,leek and stilton pie, great chips, nice little selection of veg with it. All piping hot as it should be. And a nice best bitter at £4.40 a pint. Friendly service, I'm not normally a pie eater but this was IMHO about as good as it gets! Well done!

We had afternoon tea for my daughter’s baby shower in the Buddha tea rooms and couldn’t wish for anything better. The room was so pretty and the food amazing and plenty of it . Staff couldn’t do enough for us, they were lovely . We had such a perfect afternoon , everyone really enjoyed it .

Been here a few times and its a good reliable place to get a meal. OK, the menu is "typical pub grub" but the staff there are really friendly, give prompt attentive service and the prices are reasonable. It's a great place for a Sunday night meal after having been walking or cycling whereas many pubs have shut for food (after Sunday lunch). So well done Crown. We will I'm sure, see you again this summer.

Very disappointed first we asked for campari then martini rossi told you had none,FOOD had to fetch our own menus went to order lasagna again told you had none ,those something else, i asked for ham egg &chips again very disappointed both eggs were hard the ham fatty, agian i'm very sorry i have to write this, in the past it as been spot on

Afternoon tea expensive and not enjoyable due to mix up.between vegetarian and vegan. Booked vegetarian with no dressing. Had to ask for scone as told vegan scones available! Asked if cakes were then vegan told yes this was not the case but neither of us were vegan just one vegetarian. Cannot recommend

Happy helpful staff plenty of room to sit inside and there is garden seating ad well as a patio area to eat and drink in

Staff were all lovely. They made us feel welcome and they ensured the occasion worked. Decor is a work in progress, with evident refurbishment ongoing. Sunday lunch was ok, but the Nut Roast didn’t sing and the Roast Beef was competent, not exciting. Vegetables plentiful, though overcooked. Perhaps we caught the chef on an off day? The Crown - under new owners? - has promise.

Avoid if you want a decent afternoon tea! Visited here before it was lovely attended my nieces bday here today was told last minute we would not have use of the tea barn area as promised due to it being under construction. Was sat in the pub lacked that birthday hire feel as other people obviously sat there. Anyway.. the afternoon tea was horrendous four choices of cheap fillings on cheap thin bread- 2 triangles with the crusts cut off per filling for two people - £40.00 for a cheap sandwich suitable for a baby, 3 bite sized cakes and a scone each. Not enough tea service, cutlery, or crockery put out for our party so some went without. Tried overcharging us for food, which was rectified in the end but no management around to chat to us, customer service was non existent and the whole pub is half painted covered in duct tape where they’re trying to save a few pounds on the decorating ruined the birthday And not a sorry in sight! I’d avoid!!

Attended an afternoon tea for my nieces birthday. Rubbish for the price cheap thin bread only had 2 ham traingles , 2 cheese and 2 tuna and cucumber as a choice tiny amount more like a kids size but ment for two adults for almost £40 per 2 adults disgusting with a few cake options and a scone each. Not enough to go round only two pots of tea for 13 of us so some went without then over charged for us to correct them at the end no manager of any type to discuss the poor quality of food and lack of service , won’t return or recommend to anyone.

We stopped off for dinner after a busy, unexpected trip to Bristol and to avoid a traffic delay. It was very quiet when we arrived. The staff were friendly and polite, our food arrived in good time, was well cooked and reasonably priced.

We were running late and the kitchen very kindly prepared our food for us ready for when we arrived. Chicken wings were amazing and so was the rest of the food. Staff were friendly and looked after us al night. We will definitely come back . Thanks guys :)

We had a small roast which was delicious, gravy might have been thicker but always a good meal.

We came with my husband last Friday and Saturday for dinner, everything was very good, the lasagna, fish and chips and the chef's ribs. Very warm welcome, very pleasant setting. We are from Bordeaux and will return to the Crown.

Really lovely food, all dishes are made to a high standard and tast amazing. Only downfall is they don't have a childrens menu or side dishes.

Spent a lot of money in this pub to then get a parking fine for using the pub car park!!! Disgraceful and will not be attending again. The pub doesn’t care and just say it’s got nothing to do with them and that there were signs. I did not see any signs.

Good food Good Service. Only downside was the sight of a large amount of a large dogs mess outside the Kitchen back door on the way in.

Good value, nice setting, limited lunch menu, a bit chilly but good food. Service lets it down. Rather a long wait for our main course. After waiting for sometime for someone to clear our table I finally went to the bar to ask if there was a dessert menu!! Waitress handed 2 over ( there were 4 of us ) & finally cleared the table. Luckily there was no service charge !

DO NOT VISIT THIS PUB...!! They employee cowboys to run the car park and you will be charged £100...!!!! .....absolutely disgusting.

Absolutely terrible management and poor customer service!! Hired the gazebo for a baby shower and we were assured we could come 45minutes early to set up, when we arrived and people were still eating in the gazebo and ordering food we spoke to the manager and she assured us that we would have the room for 2pm but I said that wasn’t good enough as we were told we’d have the room to decorate, it got to 2pm people were still eating, all our guests had turned up but had nowhere to sit the room a mess, we had to stall my sister as the room wasn’t ready for her surprise, we finally had our tables all given to us by 2.15pm, we then very stressed had to rush to set up the tables and decorations we didn’t have time to put up even a fraction of the decorations we had to put up wasting at least £100 on unused decorations, the manager was short in her responses rude in my opinion and didn’t even apologise, appalling DO NOT hire if you want a stress free event and decent customer service!!!!

Went today for lunch with friend. Ordered our meals but after a while told that my choice was not available. When it came it was ok, it was a cheap meal so didn't have huge expectations. Imagine my dismay when at the end of the meal I found a hair on my plate. I informed the waitress when she took the plates away and she asked if I wanted anything else but I didn't want anything else to eat. We were charged the full price for the meal. Disappointed ☹️

Booked a table for 10 and got a table of 8 there were no other tables available to someone had to cram in at the end of the table whilst my baby sat just about in between me and my partner. The beef was life leather, had to return a drink because the glass had a sticky brown residual substance around the rim, the table was sticky so got a wet wipe from my babies bag and wiped it, the wipe was filthy. The toast served with the dry Pate was just cheap bread and wasn't thick at all. And as previously mentioned the beef was so tough we had to ask for a steak knife, even then it was inedible, we ended up just taking it back for the dog. We won't be returning.

Stopped for a meeting, Was inside for just over an hour with some friends. Today received a lovely £100 parking charge, Phoned up and told its not anything to do with them. Needless to say I will not be returning

5 of us put on a table for 4 heating only put just before the pub opened got one drink wrong and one dessert wrong having said that the Sunday roast was very good

Amazing service, very polite staff.My goats cheese lasagne was delicious and would have it again. Good wine ,great atmosphere 👌 will come again.

Lovely time attending a baby shower. Unfortunately I have been issued with a parking fine. I did not register my car registration at the bar as I couldn’t get a parking space. At the end i parked on the car park to collect the mother to be and her presents. I have sent a bank statement as evidence I was there and bought drinks at the bar. Yet my appeal was unsuccessful. So moral of this tale is register your car at the bar. Otherwise don’t go to this pub as you get ripped off with a parking fine

I stoped in for lunch and received a £60 parking fine for parking in the customer car park. I called the pub but their response was unhelpful. They said it was not their responsibility and they have a sign up saying cars need to be registered. It feels a bit like a scam for the parking company to make money from unsuspecting customers. Lunch ended up costing me £80 instead of £20…. The sign in the car park says customer parking only with no notice of having to sign in.

I stoped with my boyfriend in for delicious lunch. All is really nice but you need to sort out your parking place for your customers! We received a £60 parking fine in your customer car park!!!! How is this even possible??? We called you but your response was unhelpful and you dont care at all. You said it was not your responsibility and you have a sign up saying cars need to be registered. Who reads this? It feels a bit like a scam for the parking company to make money from unsuspecting customers. And dont tell me I should read everything in the world carefully. C’ mon. Beautiful cute little pub, locals are known to the staff who are cheery, hard working and lovely. Lots of drink choices and good food

I was pleasantly surprised at this pub. It looks so small from the outside but in the inside it's very spacious. We had a lovely Christmas dinner the other night with old work colleagues. The food so delicious and hot. It all came out at the same time with plenty of vegetables. The waitresses were lovely and friendly, nothing was too much trouble for them. We are definitely going back here 🙌 I would definitely recommend this place to eat out 🥰

Lovely food, staff were great, but the portions were a bit stingy. Had Xmas meals and had one parsnip and two potatoes. I should of mentioned at the time really. Lovely Xmas atmosphere.

A lovely pre-Christmas lunch with two work friends. Service was quick & friendly. It was pretty busy with a lot of people having the Christmas menu. We stuck with the general menu and the food was spot on. The Crown burger was delicious. There was a lovely cosy Christmassy atmosphere. I could have stayed all day.

Service was slow Staff wasn't up to date that a special offer had finished even though we said what we wanted. All the items ordered had to be deleted and reordered. When the children's waffles came, they were raw and cold.

Car park robbery. My three year old daughter was having a fit in the car. This pubs carpark was the first opertunity to pull over and help calm her down. We were there 20 minutes, never left the car unattended and as soon as we had managed to calm my daughter down we left. Whilst there, we did not prevent anyone else from parking and as we were focused on my daughter's well being, did not spot the parking sign. For this we have been charged £100, £60 if we pay immediately with being threatened for the matter being taken further if we don't pay. I explained the situation to the company but they didn't care at all. I understand people using car parks can be an issue, but this was a child in distress is and wife is disabled. What an uncaring establishment. We have been thinking of dining at The Crown but if this is how they treat people then I refuse to give them my patron. How about a bit of common decency and understanding towards people rather than this money grabbing attitude.

The service was terrible and the food was worse. It came cold and was not fresh. Forget it if you are vegan there was one option so if you dont want that option you are keft with chips! We wont be coming back here Must admit we expected more from the lovely reviews they have received

Decent pub with good selection of food. Good selection of beers, wines and gin. Nice atmosphere with plenty of space.

14 of us went there for Sunday roast the table was booked for 1 o'clock it was so busy there they kept us waiting nearly 1 hour before they took our order when it arrived we were disappointed with the quality of food and there was no salt and pepper on the table we kept asking for things like apple sauce horseradish sauce the waitress were very helpful I think they were under staffed to cope with the amount of people that was there

More veggie options would have been nice, great food regardless though!

Very rude staff.. No children's menu available or the lunch menu nit available on a weekend, we had no choice but to order on the main menu it is very expensive for a burger and a handful of chips, no salad or anything., also over an hour wait with no mention of this from the staff or apologies. Very disappointed by all 20 of my family members.

Food ok, had better roast locally, sitting in amongst lots of family's with children who behaved like they where at home . Kids running round us . Not good . Then had to listen ti group of woman taking about potty training .. not a thought for people eating!!🤮 . I didn't stay for pudding just need to get out of there. Shame staff are excellent!

We had a cousin’s reunion yesterday, 21st October, there were 40 of us in total and all of us eating. The room was fabulous and seated us well, organising it was made easy by the very friendly approachable staff and on the day the service was exemplary. Nothing was too much trouble and the food came out efficiently, with no issues with everything being delicious; no mean feat with so many of us. Thanks so much to The Crown and it’s staff for making our special day, even better than we could have hoped. We’ll be back and will definitely recommend.

Visited here for afternoon tea with family. The service was pretty slow even though it was quiet, but the afternoon tea was lovely, plenty of filling food and tasty cakes! Really nice interior too, would definitely visit again!

Went for a Sunday lunch. It was delicious and filling. It was reasonably priced. The staff were young and very polite, helpful and courteous. The atmosphere was sedate . No yobs insight. Would definitely recommend a visit. Thank you to all the staff.

Good food with vegetarian options, though not so much for vegans. Good service, pleasant staff, clean loos, plenty of seating and a nice garden at the back.

I have been coming here quite often recently with friends for some drinks as the garden is lovely, but me and my partner came here this evening, and we were so disappointed. We each had a cider which didn’t taste great, it was the first pour after a barrel change so I know there was nothing that could be done. We then had food, I had scampi and my partner had a burger, mine was £14.50 and his was a bit more and it was just so bland for the price we paid! I didn’t eat much. The chips were so dry and the scampi was average, as was the burger. Its such a nice place but is so expensive, so the food should absolutely be better than this. I hate writing a bad review but it is just disappointing for the price. Don’t think i’ll be back for food anytime soon :(

What a lovely place. It was buzzing when we visited, great to see. Pub was beautifully designed and a nice big garden, also well looked after. Had the best bitter and Green King IPA, both excellent. Food top notch too. Fast, friendly service, we will return as soon as we can.

Had the chicken and chorizo pie and my partner had the steak and ale pie. They were the most delicious pies we ever had. Compliments to the chef and the staff. Will be coming again very soon.

Had a drink with a friend, friendly staff and lovely atmosphere. We also had a desert each homemade roly-poly with custard and a sticky chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream. Both mouthwatering. Great night out, thanks
