A proper locals pub. Look no further if you like the atmosphere of the bath regulars

Lovely ales especially bellringer. I've been many times to play pool with mates and dates and tried all the ales their all pretty good and locally produced. Staff are lovely. Plenty of sports on. Fingered 2 birds at once in the toilets here. overall would recommend to tourists and locals alike

Quick stop here, 1st time visit. Will be back.

Great pub. Amazing staff. And billiards. And Sport. But best of all is you can sit peacefully , in noisy solitude,and wonder just how they got that man singing in a regular wine bottle.

Went to a great gig in the basement the whole pub is proper place freindly and full of the atmospere of a real drinking den. Good ales that leave you feeling fine in the morning

Fantastic night out. From the moment we walked in, we were made to feel incredibly welcome by the people working there, especially the manager. Had a great time playing lots of pool and chatting with the locals

I can't stress enough how amazing this pub is from the staff to the people that go there. They're honest fun and put up with me coming down from Manchester and being drunk while I'm seeing my parents for the festive season. Big up the assembly 🥳

Good pub. Good selection of drinks, usual Bath prices. Many TVs showing many different sports. Couple of pool tables in one bar which are well kept.

Best pub in Bath, excellent beers (especially the Bellringer) polite staff, contactless payment pool tables. What else is needed.

Attended the cellar for a private event and had a great time! Drinks were reasonably priced, and the staff were friendly and made sure I was part of the event. I'd definitely recommend this space for private events in Bath.

Watched the Champions League final here. Excellent pub staff. Just wish the window in the back could be cracked open for air. 2 years later. No Cash policy. Why? The older locals who don't care to use cards can't even come here anymore. Not a local pub vibe. Accept the money.

Lovely little pub, great stuff on tap and very friendly staff who were so accommodating. Loved watching the footie here. Only deducting a star because the day we were there there was a bit of a bad smell coming from the loos.

Great service, up until the person behind the bar decided that a foot on the table is a ”bar-able” offence. This after 3 hours of people standing on stools and tables during a World Cup game. Just because ‘another team’ won. Shame on Assembly Inn women staff for not being inclusive.

A good pub for watching sports and with a reasonably good beer selection.

Proper pub at the top of bath city centre. One of my favourites and good for sport.

The bar man was amazing was a very hot day and he brought us a fan without us asking. Also brought the wi fi password . Seen the other reviews but take ad you fine and I liked it a lot

Horrible. Unfriendly. Full of locals who are horrible to anyone coming in. Wouldn’t recommend. Never coming back to this pub, because unless you’re a local, they will hate you.

Popped in for a quick game of pool and a quiet drink- things changed and certain people made it rowdy- however the bar staff were INCREDIBLE and made sure to check in and looked after us throughout our visit- were so polite etc and handled the rowdy situation so so well! Genuinely so happy they did check in etc as it doesn’t always happen- so the biggest thank you to them for being amazing and kind! Aside from the rogue rowdy group the pub was cute and I liked it!!!!

Popped in for a drink and a game of pool as a friend and I are staying locally to the pub. Group of men came in and immediately started targeting their inappropriate behaviour towards us (only female customers there at the time). Bar staff were incredible and quick to check in/make sure my friend and I were okay and continued to keep an eye. They shortly kicked the men out and sadly had to put up with the foul men arguing back and hurling insults. Even the local visitors of the pub stood up for staff and us, ensuring we were okay after the ordeal. Lovely pub and felt incredibly safe/looked after. Will be sure to visit again when next in Bath.

Nice pub, has one side dedicated to sport and bar games, which is good to have. The other side is for casual drinking. They have a downstairs bar for private events.

Great atmosphere, reasonably priced drinks and lovely bar staff especially short blonde lady who served me the other night, a couple of rowdy men were giving us some hassle and she dealt with it brilliantly.

Only been here once before, came to watch the football, it was a lovely relaxed environment, great music on the speakers and would come back again- the private garden in the back was a nice touch! Loved all the little touches like the board games and video game machine-brought me back to the good old days…10/10 for that! Only quabble was the environment on the opposite side of the venue- a bit unfriendly, put my name on the board for pool but had to wait a long time. A case of table hogging which was a shame and should have spoken to a member of staff…overall had a lovely couple of pints and enjoyed the pub on the tv side. Didn’t completely put me off, would still come back and attempt to play a game of pool at a later date.

Best pub in Bath. Cracking staff plus they put up with me and ny buddies watching The Rangers.

We only had a few days in Bath but since we were staying around the corner from the Assembly we decided to make it our "local". Taro was the bartender both nights and he took great care of us. We celebrated our finish of the Cotswold Way with Pimms cocktails and Taro made them extra special for us. I am returning in July and I hope Taro is back tending the bar.

This place is awesome great staff, great music, and good selection of beers! Will be back!

Lovely little pub and some lovely people

Taro here was extremely friendly and made me an amazing non-alcoholic drink(asked him to surprise me). Nice vibe here!!

I needed to book a venue at very short notice as part of my daughters Hen celebrations. Taro was excellent. He arranged a room, communicated clearly and promptly including giving me his personal mobile and texting me out of his work hours with progress. He arranged food, staffing etc and my daughter and friends had a seamless night which otherwise would have been very disappointing. Taro you're a credit to the pub! I visited the pub for the first time in years to see Taro and finalise things and i can also say that the pub was clean and airy whilst maintaining that proper boozer atmosphere and the Star ale was extremely good

Very friendly bar. Great if you enjoy playing pool as one side has two very food pool tables. The other side is more relaxed. Tv's throughout that will show most big sporting events.

Wouldn’t go back because of Hannah. We had spent a fair few hours in this pub and towards the end of the night we were told to leave for doing absolutely nothing wrong. Hannah is the most unprofessional person I have ever come across and there is absolutely no excuse to treat members of the public in the way she did. After reading reviews on other platforms I can see it’s not just me who feels this way. She was very aggressive and unnecessary rude. The pub wasn’t busy, everyone else was polite who worked there but Hannah needs some kind of customer service training and basic manners before dealing with the public. It’s a shame because the reputation will be ruined because of one person. All my friends who were visiting Bath for the day commented on her behaviour and were equally as shocked.

Great evening for 6 of us visiting and spent a fair amount of money. Have been here a few times and like the traditional pub and being able to watch the football. Had a great evening. However at closing time Hannah - asked us to leave and was extremely rude! Screaming at us to get out. We were stood up ready to go! There was no need for this. Really poor customer service. Just beware I'd you go here - Great pub but she needs a customer service course! And this isn't the first time she's kicked off from these reviews! Come on sort this out or loose customers!

Don't remember anything so must've been a great venue!

Visited Assembly Inn for the first time on Saturday. The second we walked in we did not feel welcomed. Myself and some friends ordered some drinks and then paid. When we were given our drinks they were all wrong. I personally asked for a Southern Comfort and Lemonade and was presented with a Jack Daniels and Coke. The barmaid which I believe was named Hannah did not want to know. We asked if we could please have our drinks corrected as they are not what we had asked for, she said "Drink them or leave" The rudest encounter I have ever had in a bar. Me and my friends were all barmaids once and understand things can go wrong under pressure especially when it is busy but she did not want to put things right and then ignored us for the rest of the time there. A couple next to us seen what had gone on and tried to order some drinks on our behalf in which she told them to not get involved and did not accept their order. We asked for the manager and she said she was the manager. I was informed by someone near the bar she had only worked here a few weeks and she definitely was not the manager. There was a young man working behind the bar also who didn't want to help either. If the manager/the owner reads this I would suggest you have a look at who you employ. It was my friends birthday on Saturday and it put a complete dampener on our evening. Glad we left and went elsewhere but I will NEVER be returning.

As someone who has worked in the industry, I’m very reluctant to slate members of staff online but the way we were spoken to and treated by Hannah on Saturday was quite frankly the worst service I’ve ever received. Gave us the wrong drink and we politely asked for it to be remade as we had already paid, and she was extremely rude to us and refused, telling us “if you don’t like it you can leave”. A male barman actually came to try help us and she interrupted and said “no don‘t serve them”. The couple stood by us in the bar were taken aback by it, and we actually saw them later on and they expressed how rude they also thought it was. They also then refused to serve the couple as they were trying to help us! We were made to feel so uncomfortable as she wouldn’t even look us in the eye and was just so unbelievably hostile towards us, making us feel like we were problem customers when we were very politely trying to tell her we just wanted the right drink that we paid for. Honestly I couldn’t even care so much about paying for a drink none of us wanted, but more her attitude. People like that shouldn’t be working with the public! Avoid like the plague.

Lovely little find. Not overly friendly but polite. They had 2 pool tables which were only £1 per game and were decent tables.

Good old fashioned pub, plenty of seating, good range of drinks, sports on the TV and a couple of pool tables.

A great pub to watch sport as it has several screens. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and couldn’t do enough for us. A good selection of beers, enjoyed Beavertown Neckoil. We’ll definitely be back 😊

The best pub in Bath! Very friendly and welcoming staff, especially the man behind the bar who was incredibly accommodating and nice to my boyfriend and I. We had a great time listening to good music, playing pool (for free before 5pm!) and enjoying the secret garden.

What was meant to be a flying visit en route elsewhere became a full afternoon. A busy and lively pub with screens showing various sporting fixtures and staff who made us feel so welcome it would have been rude not to stay. Sadly, all bar one of the draught ales were off but the White Friar was worth having several pints.

Such a lovely pub, great staff and the pool tables were a great addition. Would recommend for late night drinks with work mates!

It’s a decent pub with a good range of beers and ciders. There’s a cute beer garden if the weather’s good. The staff are great but continually changing.

Fine establishment, friendly and welcoming

I’ve just met THE most enthusiastic helpful lovely bar staff/ man there ever was. When I was apprehensive coming into this place he greeted me with a huge smile (I could feel even beneath his mask) and sat at my table to explain the beers and was so helpful when what I wanted wasn’t on tap. Every place needs this man. His name is Adie. Hope the establishment treats him with the respect he deserves. Ps it’s a sports pub. I hate sports so I hope that shows how great the staff were!

Rude bar staff and drunk hostile locals. A game of pool and a drink with my girlfriend ended in a verbal attack from a drunk local who was then backed up by the bar staff.

Hicieron lo imposible para ordenarnos una mesa y organizar para que hubiera espacio para nosotros. Popped in here for a pint, packet of crisps and 11 games of pool with my son. Super nice vibe with very friendly staff and huge range of ales and drinks. Very clean, warm and great atmosphere. Thanks for making us so welcome and will definitely return. Could be my No.1 go to place

Excellent beer and surroundings

We dropped in for the England rugby fian on Saturday morning. It was very busy, as you would expect, but not totally rammed, so we were able to watch the game on one of several large screens. The punters were all much younger than us and were lively but friendly. Staff were working really hard and were also friendly. Good range of ales. Just what we were looking for.

Absolutely lovely pub except the bartender with the man bun couldn’t have been more rude and patronising to us, have never been made to feel more uncomfortable in a pub in my whole life.
