Avoid at all costs. Been here a few times before & was excellent. Obviously has new tennants who havent got a clue how to run a pub. Friday night was fish night and yet they only had white fish, which was grey and mushy & had a thick soggy batter. Was told it was cod, probably minnow given the size of the fish in the batter.Chips were soggy and were rubbery. This pub was dark, cold and empty on a friday night ,this should have rung alarm bells. Needless to say declined to pay the bill.,

Our walking group ended up at the King William Inne for Sunday lunch. Due to a shortage of staff, just Roast Beef or Turkey on offer. Excellent quality. Tasty tender meat with a large selection of vegetables. Catered for a dairy intolerant member too. Pleasant, friendly staff who went out of their way to ensure the best experience for their guests. Would definitely return.

Now listen, folks, we have some news, We've done a local food review, We recently wanted Sunday lunch, And we've been to all the local bunch, So if you want to know the winner, There's only one place for Sunday dinner. Meet Robin, Nicky, and don't forget Mark, They truly leave the rest in the dark, The king William at Catcott is by far the best And you can honestly keep the rest. Forget the Carvery and Gastropub, This is proper home cooked grub. Now the tearooms finally here, It's not just a place to have a beer, So "here's to the King William" is the toast, The place to go for your Sunday roast.

What a gem! The King William Inne is a fantastic home from home esc pub that makes you feel like one of the family. Everyone that works here is super friendly and is always up for a good laugh and a chat. This pub feels like a true English experience, you go in and ypu don't feel pressured to eat but if you do, prepare for an amazing fish and chips on a Friday! I could not recommend this wonderful place enough, it's my favourite pub in the country.

We popped in to this pub on the off chance of Sunday lunch. Despite being extremely busy as it was father's Day, they were able to fit us in. I'm so glad they did. This was absolutely the very best Sunday lunch I have eaten out. Beautiful meat, creamy mash, crispy roasties, cauliflower cheese, gorgeous red cabbage and other veg cooked perfectly. Can't comment on the Yorkshire as I asked not to have one, but they looked home made and massive. We also nabbed the last piece of cheesecake between us, scrummy. Will most certainly book next time we're in the area as I wouldn't want to miss out. Also lovely pub, cosy, traditional and very friendly staff. Dog and child friendly.

I used to come to this pub years ago as a 18year old (ish!) local... with friends and enjoy an ale or two...or 3 So it was good to be back some 38 years later.. The place has changed but lost none of its personal warmth. Wish it was my local still..... SO on arrival we were greated by the most FRIENDLY landlord. Who was keen to look after us - - settled us down with an ale for me and a very generous glass of wine for my mum. Menus showed some good balanced pub fayre - I ordered the Hunters chicken - mum orderd the fish and chips... with a choice of garden not musy peas. All was served in good time - was piping hot , beautifully presented. Served up by a lovely waitress who was attentive but not pushy. The resturant filled nice (a great sign) but was well distanced. Food was of an extremely high standard - too much to be honest but for hungry people you wont be disappointed. MUST compliment them on the chips... that may sound silly - but I think you can tell a good chef by not only their mains - but the sides.. This were "good honest chunky chips " and were crisp, fluffy inside. And very "oooh just one more". The fish was well battered and white .. no soggy bottoms and my Hunters chicken had a gorgeous taste with decent bacon (and that makes a difference...) We left - fully repleat and with smiles - it was worth the money and a generous tip for a job well done.. Compliments to chef, staff and a special mention a lovely host & landlord who does keep a very good ale - served to perfection and very quaffable (pity I had to drive home so only the one!) Congratulations on a lovely evening. On a final note... dont forget to check out the walk over well !!!!

When we said about that we didnt know wehad to eat so quickly they were quite rude and relctant to let us order dessert or coffee. Because of their response many of us didn't order any dessert. A reasonable size car park with one Blue badge bay, the entrance takes you into a quite large Dining area or if you prefer more intimate experience you can dine by the Bar area. There is a large area to the side of the Dining area which can accommodate larger parties. This is a very nice traditional Pub with real nice people serving you with excellent food, there is a glass topped well which you walk over and wood beams and panelling which gives this pub a nice feel. The Sunday Carvery is excellent with a choice of 4 x meats and all the veg varieties you could want. They also do smaller meals at a lower cost for those that have smaller appetites. In the UK, what might ordinarily be enjoyed in the evening, i.e., dinner, may be enjoyed at lunchtime. For an evening meal, 'tea' is on the menu! Not the cup of tea - although that also is probably be imbibed - the meal called 'tea'. This is a substantial meal that could be fish and chips from the 'chippy' round the corner, or bangers and mash - the bangers being a good old English sausage and the mash being left-over spuds from Sunday. Nothing like that at the King William Inn in the small west country village of Catcott though! An amazingly satisfying meal chosen from an excellent menu of meats and traditional accompaniments. Superb value, Great taste, Good beer and wide selection of wines. All served courteously in a welcoming and cozy environment. PS ... delicious desserts or 'puddings' to boot. Worth a meander down the lanes.

Upon arrival we were warmly greeted and whilst ordering our drinks, I was allowed to have a taster first to be sure the drink was to my liking, which was a nice touch. We were then shown to our table and offered a choice of menu, that included one for vegetarians. Such a change to have a separate menu and not just a token vegetarian dish hidden amongst the main menu. The restaurant itself was nicely decorated and spotlessly clean and made you feel at home.

A big thank you Sharron and Keith and their family who made us feel so at home and welcome, we miss you already. Highly recommend.

Enjoyed a Sunday Cavery here today. A choice of 4 meats. Loads of veg, crispy roasters and fluffy Yorkshire puddings. Table service for drinks. Very helpful staff. Highly recommended. Would definitely visit again.

So disappointed had read other reviews and had high expectations. The bar was bare and no atmosphere in the restaurant area. Food was edible but dull. I had deep fried brie to start and it was huge, solid and not very hot served with salad and rock hard bread bits! Main course was Cajun fish and crushed new potatoes - the potatoes were like mash and the fish was dry. I cannot even remember the dessert. Everything was clean, quick and very friendly just didn't hit the mark and we wont be back.

We were stuck for somewhere to eat after a long ish journey and stumbled across this pub. It really was a great find though. The draw back was the beer, it was so good I had to make sure with two more pints :-)

We are staying on Catcott to break our journey to Cornwall and needed a place to eat for our evening meal. Our b&b; hosts recommended the king William inn. This turned out to be a fine choice. We had a beautiful dinner. I had mackerel and grapefruit salad and my wife had roast lamb. Both meals were so good and our host was so accommodating and ably dealt with my wife’s gluten intolerance. The gluten free brownie we shared for our pudding course was probably the best we had ever had!

If you are looking for a meal on the way back from Wells, Glastonbury or Street towards the M5, may I recommend this pub? My wife and I dined here some 12 years ago when we first came to Somerset and enjoyed a good meal. However, subsequent visits after the original hosts left were a great disappointment, especially when we were turned away because a funeral party was booked - not because of the understandable situation, but rather the curt manner in which we were dismissed.
