This is a beautiful country pub that I visited for a lovely carvery on Sunday. Everything was done to perfection. The meat was particularly delicious. There was a well equipped bar with plenty of choice! All of the staff were friendly and helpful they couldn’t have been more welcoming. I would definitely recommend this pub be it for a drink or food. I think pubs like this deserve to be supported as they are real assets to their communities.

We met family for Sunday lunch. Sadly this was not a great experience. We had booked for the carvery but when we went to get our meal we were only allowed one thin slice of meat as we were told they were running out! A choice of beef or gammon. I think the Yorkshire puddings were Aunt Bessie’s and the vegetables were not great, and gravy very thin. We ordered desserts but when they came they were still frozen, even the ‘warm’ Apple cake ! On the plus side the staff did recognise the sub standard food and the price was reduced considerably and we had sent the dessert's back so we’re not charged for those. I hope they can make a go of it, but standards will have to be raised considerably.

Hidden away just off the busy A39 between Bridgwater and Glastonbury, this is the perfect country pub. Comfortably yet utterly traditional, there are several areas arranged around a central bar, with an attractive garden to the rear. Just two ales on offer, but they are well chosen, varying and mainly from smaller West Country brewers; I enjoyed a pint of locally brewed Fine Tuned Langport Bitter. An excellent, reasonably priced menu featuring all the pub classics you would expect plus some more interesting dishes is supplemented further by a great specials board. It was from the specials board that I selected an excellent dish of braised kidneys - it's great to see a pub that champions offal, All main meals come with a choice of potatoes and a good selection of fresh vegetables. They also host a monthly folk session, first Saturday of the month.

Ate here twice with wife and friends on our recent visit to Somerset. We ate here last year on a visit and was impressed but if anything, it was even better this year. the food was excellent. First night we had Mushroom and tarragon Soup which was one of the nicest soups I've eaten. Followed by Grey Mullet; nicely cooked with an excellent selection of vegetables. On the second occasion, most of us had one of their excellent pies with 'Ruff Puff' pastry; a sort-of halfway between flaky and shortcrust pastry. Again excellent. The service was very good and friendly and they have 2 good real ales on. And it wasn't too expensive. A great pub for a lovely meal.

Unprepossessing from the outside - but a warm welcome inside this traditional homey cottage pub-with-atmosphere that has escaped being "glammed up". Comprehensive lunch menu (with vegetarian offerings) to suit most tastes. The food was very good; the food was clearly "home" prepared and freshly cooked. We wanted a pub lunch after our visit to the Clarks outlet before continuing our journey to South Devon. After reading the reviews we were really looking forward to our lunch. How disappointing from the word go.....the pub looks tiered and unloved on the outside, a little off putting. Inside it was quirky but empty, not a good sign. The landlord was so unwelcoming and miserable....if we had not been so hungry we would have walked out.No table service....we had to go to the bar and try to attract his attention each time we had a question and to order. The food arrived...the pie of the day was good but the pork medallions were chewy and the sauce had no flavour, chips were typical cheap frozen pub standard chips. Overall we were so disappointed and can't understand the glowing reviews. Our first and last visit.

Various starters were enjoyed e.g. homemade soup, kippersI tried the speciality potatoes in the main but they were a bit too garlicky for my taste. Meal was nice though (and I pinched some of my brother in laws potatoes) Portions generally large but they did run out of new potatoes which we not expecting as we booked in advance. We found this pub on the Internet to and took a chance. We needed somewhere Central fo various family members to travel to and meet for lunch. We loved it! It was just like you'd think a well run country pub should be. The staff and customers were happy and friendly. Bits of it were old fashioned - but we quite liked that, and they weren't the bits that really make a diffence. It was clean, warm, friendly. The food was beautiful and very reasonable. Three of us had the pies - now these pies were amazing! We hadn't tasted pies like those for a long time, and they were hand made on site. I didn't have a pie - but wished I had! The Sunday lunch deal was great - roast and a dessert for £11 I think. Desserts are home made too - and very good. My niece had an ice cream Sundae - the ice cream was locally made and delicious. The generous portion meant she couldn't finish it! We noticed that there were board games and a book swap available. This pub was the kind of local you really want. If we lived nearby we would definitely be regulars, I suppose we could move to Ashcott! Service was fast and friendly

I discovered the Ring O' Bells from the Good Beer Guide over 20 years ago. I live in Bristol, but whenever I'm in that area I make sure I have lunch there. On a recent visit I was pleased to find the same landlord is still in charge, and the welcome, the quality of the beer and of the food, and the general comfort and relaxing atmosphere, was the same as ever. I had a "home-made" steak and stilton pie from the day's "specials", and it really was a genuine first-class real home-made pie, and not a bowl of beef casserole with a pastry lid. To accompany it I chose dauphinoise potatoes (a speciality of this pub for many years) rather than chips or jackets, and they were excellent. It came with mixed vegetables as well, so good value as always. The pub is tucked away from the busy main road, but well signposted. A restful haven.

The Ring O Bells has a wonderful ambience, the service (both in the bar and the restaurant) was both friendly and swift and the decor was great English country pub with an abundance of bells. Rating on look and feel and it would have been a 5 no doubt about it. Sadly, the food wasn't as sharp as anticipated. It was generally OK to Good but there were some elements that didn't taste great, which was sad. Excellent food and friendly service. A cosy atmosphere and you can either have a private little corner or be near the bar. Function room for occasions too. Decent prices for food and a good vegetarian selection.

The range of dishes is pretty good but the quality of the food is outstanding. I had turkey and mushroom pie - it was home produced and presented out of its dish. Plenty of vegetables and gravy, which was not needed. Pie was tasty and moist. Service was very good.

We arranged lunch on the Sunday after our son moved house. The search for a local may well be resolved. Even though it was through our own fault a disjointed meal (we had to break away for a delivery) the pub staff was understanding and helpful, A pretty good Sunday lunch - Certainly value for money.

Nine of us met in the quiet back room for Sunday lunch. Food was fresh and reasonably priced. There is a large specials board as well as normal pub grub.

Dog friendly, lovely staff and great food! The folk music on this evening was a wonderful addition to the bustling atmosphere and ye olde decor. Lovely vegetarian options as well as excellent fish and meats. Great puddings and sundaes too! We will return soon.

We arrived at 12pm just as they opened and despite a local community group arriving at the same our order was taken and was served without any unexpected delay. The menu was extensive with a specials board that was updated as item became available even during our visit. We were welcomed by a warm atmosphere and an on a cold day the open fire was even more welcoming, great to visit a village pub that retains much of it's original character. We ate in the Bar but I believe a restaurant is available.Great food, good value, cooked well and served with a smile. We'll be back!

After pleasant winter's morning bird watching at the nearby nature reserve, what is required is food and beer. We came across the Ring O' Bells more or less by chance and, as it looked like a pub, we went in.Well, it also looked like a pub on the inside, another good sign. Things continued in the right direction, an interesting specials board, extensive main menu and a couple of real ales on pump; Teignworthy Brewery's "Reel Ale" and, even more local, RCH Brewery's Pitchfork. Both ales were very well kept. Two of us could not resist the £9.90 main plus any dessert option, fish and chips for both plus crumble and banoffee pie. A bowl of soup and bread were good. The stand out was devilled kidneys with sausage, Yorkshire pudding and veg. Serious plate envyWhen asked if the kidneys would be on the menu again, the reply was that the specials changed frequently, so not for a while, although no doubt another kidney dish would, a great answer. The current landlords have been there 29 years and, with a policy of the best staff, food and drink, they will last at least another 29. Oh, and the landlord was a very friendly chap.A good and deservedly popular real pub, what more could you want?

When we first walked in couple of us were not sure about it, but we decided to give it a go and were very glad we did. They had a good menu choice and most of us chose the excellent value two courses for £9.50. The food is all home cooked, by I think the owners wife. We had some dietary requirements and they went out of their way to accommodate this, even making up a pudding to suit so I could have one. Overall all food, service and value for money all worth the trip through country lanes.

One of the few average meals I have had in The Ring O Bells, eaten here many times, today I had the ham egg and chips, the ham looked liked supermarket ham, 2 thin slices on top of each other, and a uniform shape, and not very tasty, the rest of the meal was OK, nice chips and well cooked eggs, I also objected to having to pay for an extra egg, most pub ham egg and chips come with two eggs. The pub is a great place and I will be back, just had an average meal today, I would still highly recommend the pub, great specials board and lots of real ale, and its so friendly.

I have visited this pub three times recently and on all occasions have been pleased with the food. The food is plain wholesome food, freshly cooked and tasty. The staff are polite and friendly. I have given the review one star short of five, because the pub had run out of the local ale and it was Sunday lunch time, not particular busy, when I would have thought the management would have ensured that their ale barrels were full. Despite that disappointment our Sunday lunch was good.

Unspoilt and unpretentious, The Ring o' Bells is also somewhat unsophisticated - but definitely none the worse for that. It's most certainly not a Gastropub, but it's warm and comfy, the beer is well nigh perfect and the no-frills food is tasty,well-cooked and filling. What more could you want?

The Ring O' Bells has long been a favourite of ours. It is good pub food at good prices. There is nothing fancy about the pub or the food. You are always met with a smile and made to feel welcome. If you like oldy worldy pub atmosphere and reliable, pub type food then this is one for you.
