The Bath Arms in Sedgemoor

Excellent food and lovely building! We came here as part of a trip to Cheddar for my partners 40th, glad I trusted the reviews and chose The Bath Arms. I had the mushroom and celeriac strudel which was delicious and different from the usual veggie options you see elsewhere. My partner had the steak pie, which he said was very good and filled up with meat. The chips he had also looked incredible! All in all, a very nice birthday meal!

Stayed here for 2 nights and it was a lovely pub….food was gorgeous….breakfast amazing! Stayed in the little Robin room, it was cosy and comfortable, little touches like jelly babies, nuts and water in the room alongside your tea and coffee with biscuits was lovely ☺️ the toiletries in the bathroom were a little touch of luxury too. The staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful, we will definitely be back! The location to the Gorge was perfect.

We turned up 40 minutes early and we were seated, friendly service. Sunday roast was lovely! Visited several times before.

Unfortunately we did not stay here, but we visited a couple of times whilst we were in cheddar, can not fault the staff, they were always smiling and extremely polite, creating a wonderful atmosphere, the real ales were absolutely first class, crisp and a delightfully refreshing. Would highly recommend this establishment. Extremely busy pub/restaurant would definitely recommend booking.

Every dish was cooked perfectly, with hot food piping hot. Superb. Friendly staff. Nice takes on classic dishes. It's clear they take pride in what they provide.

Went for dinner. The service was outstanding and the food delicious. Ibwas very impressed with the menu showing allergen information really clearly 👌

Very nice small local hotel. Excellent rooms great management and, and the staff just the best. Kiri was especially awesome, above and beyond amazing. Nice amenities, very good bathrooms. Restaurant did a great job with a Sunday lunch on a day where they were extremely busy and snuck us in. Breakfast options were a rare treat. Nice bar good parking. A secure wi-fi but it was a bit slow.

As always, gorgeous pub. No rowdy sports bar here! Staff friendly. Come here at least twice a month. Usually for sandwiches at lunchtime. However, the main menu has some excellent choices.....all delicious Recommended

We stayed for two nights in this great hotel in Cheddar. Good size room, comfy beds, delicious generous breakfast and friendly, efficient staff. We ate here both nights as well and menu offered great choice and was delicious. Highly recommend !

Wonderful Restaurant had the most amazing food over 2 successive nights we had planned on trying other places but felt we didn't need to find anywhere else... it was that good. Staff friendly and speedy service will definitely go again when we are next down.

Lovely big room and comfy beds. We were disappointed with our cheese and pickle sandwiches and we couldn’t get the shower to come hot. Staff were lovely.

We chose this hotel due to its proximity to Cheddar gorge. A ten minute walk and you're at the bottom of the road. The hotel is in the middle of the town on a fairly busy road but a huge car park at the rear is really useful. The hotel has lots of outdoor seating, both front and rear. Inside is also spacious with a good sized bar area and a sizeable dining room. Tha staff could not have been more helpful if they tried. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Our evening meal was much appreciated after a day exploring the gorge. Tasty and filling, no room for dessert. The breakfast was cooked fresh to order, no dried up buffet fare. Our room was very nice with a big comfy bed and a spacious bathroom. All very clean. Tea, coffee, water and nibbles in the room came in useful. Only negatives were the price of drinks at the bar, glad I'm not a big drinker and some road noise in the morning. Minor issues in what was a very enjoyable experience.

Had Sunday lunch at this venue, food was fine but after just finishing our food, we were asked to vacate our table as there were other people waiting. We had been exactly an hour whereas it should have been booked for 1 and 1/2 hours. I felt this was extremely rude and we should have been allowed the full booked time. There were many diners that were there before us and remained after we were asked to leave. Extremely disappointed! My recommendation Avoid.

Large imposing frontage leads into a light and airy bar. 4 Cheddar ales on offer, well kept, and a good selection of lunch & dinners on the menu. Dog friendly with some large chairs and sofas to lounge in. Well worth leaving the gorge to find this pub in the village.

I called very last minute to book a table and they kindly let us come. We had driven past this place so many times on our weeks stay, we had to try it! The food was amazing! 10/10 had the boa buns, soup, fish finger sandwich and the steak at our table and it was so so good! Couldn’t recommend enough! Parking out the back and dog friendly! Everyone was very friendly and helpful!

Yummy food and great service. They have a lot of vegetarian options and have a good knowledge of these which puts you at ease. Lovely place.

We were hoping for somewhere nice to eat out while staying in Cheddar, and were really impressed by the menu, quality of food, service, and atmosphere - easy to see why it's so popular!

We stayed for a night, and the staff were nice and helpful, we had a superior room with a huge bath and a separate shower. The room itself was huge.

Sunday lunch 😋 excellent 👌 manager couldn't do enough for us he was lovely and asked us several times if everything was OK. Stuffing was missing from my plate, and he fetched me some straight away plus a bit extra 😉 Book in advance as tables fill up fast and most already reserved. Highly recommend 👌

We have rediscovered this place after an absence of several years. We have enjoyed coffee here. It has a great lunch menu and we have eaten here several times as a couple and with friends. We checked out this place for disabled-friendly access as we have a friend who is in a wheelchair; it’s now become one of his favourite places to eat. It has flat access from the car park, and good entrance and a proper disabled toilet. I’d highly recommend lunch here – it is in the centre of Cheddar the location is hard to beat.

Location in Cheddar so close to The Gorge is great. Busy road but lots to see while waiting for food to arrive as we sat outside with our dog. Dog friendly inside too. Service was good and staff welcoming. Food was a mixed bag. Hubby very much enjoyed his tofu noodle dish. I had sweet potato and onion bhaji burger which tasted quite salty and although flavour was a little bit different than the norm, it just didn’t hit the spot for me. Fries seemed just standard and disappointing to be honest, as was the coleslaw. For these prices I expected a little more…fresh, carrot coleslaw and skin on chips would’ve elevated it.

We celebrated a triple birthday with a table of 6 at the Bath Arms Cheddar everyone said that all courses were amazing with one saying the best 3 course meal he'd ever eaten so a big thankyou Chef and everyone else involved . From our arrival to leaving we were all made to feel very welcome despite a full restaurant so if your looking for a venue for a special family celebration look no further.

We dined here a couple of nights ago, and enjoyed one of the best evening meals we've had in a good while. All of the staff were excellent and we saw evidence of why, as the team leader was coaching her colleagues to do things properly. It's nice to be served by people who seem to care about their job. The food was a cut above the usual pub fare,and the portion sizes were good for the quality and price. Highly recommended if you are visiting Cheddar.

Visited for food and drinks. Wonderful pub on the recommendation of George's B&B. There is plenty of outside seating, too, albeit by the main road. The food was lovely, as were the staff. Bar and restaurant area, would recommend booking if you want to eat or if in a group, I guess.

Very good food. The five of us had a selection of pub classic type meals from the and each one was excellent, arrived quickly and was nicely presented. The service was also excellent . The pub itself is spacious, has a friendly atmosphere and has a good variety of beer on tap. So, great food and great beer, everything you want in a pub really!

We had an amazing meal, absolutely delicious. Polite and really helpful staff despite being super busy. One family member has a serious food intolerance. She thought what she ordered would be okay. Forgot to say at the time of ordering and it was not okay. When we told staff they sorted the issue with no fuss.

We ate Sunday lunch here, and it was delicious and generous. The pigs-in-blankets were amazing, and the wide variety of veg very tasty. The beer is also very good, including some from the local Cheddar Brewery. The staff were friendly and efficient. One of our party has crohns but forgot to check the gravy ingredients until after we were served. The staff changed the meal immediately with no fuss or complaints. We were made welcome from the start and had a lovely meal.

Popped in as we were passing through Cheddar and we are so glad we did. The food was amazing, top notch warm beef doorstop sandwich with triple fried chips and a salad. Dripping with pungent horseraddish, golden chunky chips and a salad dressing to die for. The wifey had the crispy chilli beef salad which was as good if not better. Then we just had to have pudding, or at least I had to have two. Sticky toffee pudding was next level good and the ice cream tasted home made. The pineapple and mango cheese cake was also delicious. Don’t ever drive by this place without going in to eat. Where’s that 6th star!!

I stayed here for a work trip and had a lovely stay. Upon arrival, I noted that the carpark was spacious. Check-in was speedy, and the young lady even carried my suit case up the stairs. I don't believe there was a lift, so possibly inaccessible rooms. The room was lovely and a good size. The bathroom was massive and bath very deep. There was a rainfall shower, luxurious full size toiletries, and snuggley towels. On the desk, 2 glass bottles of cheddar springs water and 3 small kilner jars of snacks- that was a really nice touch. The ceiling paint was peeling away so would suggest that gey sorted but other than that, a highly recommended stay. I had breakfast and evening meal. Both were absolutely delicious and the staff were so attentive. There is a large Sainsbury's ans Tesco express in walking distance from the hotel. I would certainly stay here away. Highly recommend

Booked the Bath Arms for lunch for my daughter’s birthday. The menu was a bit ‘fussy’ but the food we chose and portion size was acceptable. Staff were friendly. I do agree with another review that said the restaurant area was soulless. It was dark, dull and chilly. The bar area seemed to be much brighter and had more atmosphere and warmth about it.

Whilst visiting Bath in November we found the city's restaurants largely pretentious and expensive so visited the surrounding area and found the Bath Arms in Cheddar village. A great find we had two terrific lunches there. In February this year my wife and I had a few nights in Torquay and, on our journey home, diverted to re-visit the Bath Arms. Once again it was great. A nice range of high quality foods properly presented by attentive and helpful front of house staff. The cost is pitched correctly and the quality is high. Definitely worth a visit; it is certainly where we will head for when next in the area.

Lovely country pub in a great setting. The food was outstanding. Gluten free kids fish and chips, the best steak pie I’ve ever had.

I don't often do reviews. Mainly because I don't feel anywhere is that good to warrant one. But in this case, I want to share my opinion of this place, because this must be one of the best experiences had in a hotel. And I travel often, 2 or 3 times a month The service has been top notch. £300+ per night, kind of hospitality But without the stuffiness or pretentiousness. The staff have a laid back, easy going kind of vibe. But on it, when it comes to engaging with customers. They are top notch detail. Like being escorted to your room. Instead of being given directions Or having your dinner table reserved with your name on it. Instead of having to use a table number to order your food. They leave treats free of charge, on your room. Honestly guys, this place is exceptional. And the price per night is way affordable. The room is a really good size with great attention to detail. Like having big bottles of soap and hand cream. Instead of those miniature ones that run out halfway through a shower. The bed is probably better than Premier Inn. And I've stayed at plenty of those hotels. The food is seriously restaurant quality. While avoiding pub chain kind of meals. All in all I'm chuffed that I chose this place. Even if it's a distance away from where I'm working. And will come here again, if I'm back around the area to work If you are looking for somewhere to stay, even if this place may not be close to where your planning to be going, it's worth the drive.

We ate Sunday lunch here. Burgers for the kids and roasts for the adults! Nearly all excellent (the beef wasn't the best, but the burgers, the pork roast, the sides to the roast and the desserts were wonderful). Service excellent. Atmosphere and decoration excellent also.

Great food choice and friendly staff

This is our local and for sure our favourite. Caters for all dietary needs. Service was excellent and the food was delicious. Above all a hotel that provides disability toilet, unlike another eatery in the area where we were told to use the public toilet outside in the carpark.

Really lovely pub. Stopped in with family and friends for a meal and the food was fantastic. Bar staff and waiters were friendly and welcoming and gave great service. Definitely would recommend as a stop for some food. It was quite busy so recommend booking ahead! x

Stopped in for some lunch. Managed to find the last table that wasn't reserved so probably best to book ahead. One you have chosen what you want from the menu you order at the bar. We had quite a a long wait for our food from order (approx 35 minutes). The food was good and the atmosphere was good. It is more on the pricey side £17+ for main dishes. I would recommend and will go again but maybe closer to pay day.

Great meal this evening and excellent service as well. They were really busy today but still managed to get us our first choice meals, even at 5.30 on a Sunday .

Was visiting the area with friends for a long weekend and we wanted somewhere for a nice a Sunday roast but at the time of booking, we realised it was Mothering Sunday! Was told they could accommodate us early evening, so were happy to take that. Fab place. Good parking, warm welcome and well organised. Food was piping hot and plentiful. Considering they had been busy all day with families, it didn’t effect the quality of the food (ie it wasn’t the dregs or dried out or overcooked meat and the veg was spot on). We weren’t kept waiting, really good service. We couldn’t even force a dessert as we were stuffed to the gunnels. Staff all very friendly and attentive and made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our dinner. A great find

My daughters treated me to lunch for Mothers Day. My eldest daughter who travelled separately was delayed in arriving due to car problems which we explained on arrival. No problem, we were seated and served drinks and told we had the table for 2 hours before the next sitting. My daughter arrived about 30 mins later and was offered a drink and we were left to review the menu. We ordered our food which came out promptly and was delicious. My daughters both had roast beef and I had the nut roast which was fantastic. Despite the fact it was an extremely busy day for the pub and staff, the waiting staff were attentive without being overly so, the atmosphere was relaxed and the whole restaurant had a lovely background chatter with families enjoying their meals. Fantastic service, amazing food, guys you nailed it on all counts. Well done.

We enjoyed a light lunch at the Bath Arms Hotel in Cheddar. The imposing hotel is in the centre of town and has its own large private car park at the rear. The food was good and the staff were pleasant, ensuring we were well looked after. We liked the decor, furnishings and ambience.

Fantastic night out - food lovely & so, so impressed that the service charge is not automatically added to the bill. Would recommend 100% Have come in for Sunday lunch on the off chance & staff have gone above & beyond to find us a table

Went for Sunday roast without a booking and the man behind the bar got us in really quickly and was very friendly! So refreshing to have good customer service! & Then the food. Delicious! Will be back again!

My wife and I had a fabulous time at the Bath Arms last night. The staff were so kind, welcoming and professional in their service to us. Faultless. The food was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. The pan fried chicken with a leak and pork sausage and gratin dauphinois was exceptional, so very tasty. The aged sirloin steak was tender and cooked to perfection. Best chips ever. Top marks to the chef and his team. Rest assured we will be back and we will continue to be ambassadors for the business.
