Our first visit, there were eight of us. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The food was fantastic, good choice of meals, great quality and the portion sizes were decent. All the meals came out together. We will definitely be going back there again. Update: Second visit and just as good as the first visit. Superb quality and no problem when we asked for changes to the dishes. This is now our go to pub! Update: curry night this time. Food was great and the service as good as before.

I'm from Australia and I have a certain dietary requirement which I got looked after. It was nice to be able to have an English meal to my own dietary

17 Ladies of the local W.I. met for lunch last Tuesday. Our food was pre booked, as requested by the landlord Patrick. The main courses, some choosing the senior menu ( old people with smaller appetites) and others opting for a full sized main course. One lady was pleasantly surprised by her generous portion size. The table buzz reduced considerably whilst we all tucked in and enjoyed our very tasty meals.

Lovely country pub with a great selection of real ales. Patrick, the landlord, is an amazing host. He has some fantastic stories, could listen to him for hours. One of my favourite pubs in Somerset!

Overnight stay with breakfast inc. Family party in village hall so ideal location. Room was clean and tidy. Shared bathroom slight drawback. The breakfast was excellent, overall Good value for money, thank you Patrick

A warm welcome awaits you from Patrick, the Winchester Arms landlord, who has worked tirelessly at improving the pub and wants to ensure you have the best possible experience. Wendy provides the most delicious home cooked food and it is no wonder that the restaurant is full of happy smiling customers enjoying their food and drink. It has been tough for pub owners following Covid and it is admirable to see how this little Trull village gem has bounced back. We enjoyed a four night stay and will definitely be back.

Glad to meet up with family to stay for a couple of nights. Loads to do in the greater Taunton area with a bus into town close by. We were very kindly looked after by Patrick and the catering staff, under chef Wendy surpassed our expectations with lovely suppers in the bar and big well cooked breakfasts. We had an ensuite clean and cosy room and didn't want for anything. Thank you all at the Winchester, we hope to visit you again before too long.

Great pub tucked away off the main road, nice bar with well-kept real ales, Wendy cooks great traditional food, possibly the best steak and kidney pudding yet, also excellent desserts unfortunately, they were let down by "shaving foam" cream, please please use proper cream

This is a little gem. Good start it was packed means it must be good. Staff were friendly and the food was awesome. Roast pork with a home made yorkie. Extra roasties aswell. 🐷. Dessert was sticky toffee pudding. GORGEOUS!!.. spoke to the owner Patrick who has so much passion and loves what he does. Was told about Wendy who has been in the kitchen 20+ years. Shes a keeper too if she bangs food out like this. Will be back again and again. Beer was good too…

Sunday lunch was fantastic, extremely tasty and plenty of it. Nothing was too much trouble, my wife's special requirements (gluten free ) were all 100% satisfied. However, very disappointed with our finishing coffee, it was impossible to drink, think something must have gone wrong, had to send back untouched. Very surprised and disappointed to find we were charged for it.

Great menu full of homemade delights. Great beer garden at the rear with a stream running alongside. Dogs are welcome and well looked after.

Great choice for Sunday lunch. Men options included three meats or nut roast plus some alternative options. All went down very well with our group of 19 people. They also provide a large range of starters and desserts which were very tasty. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend! The rooms are also really nice if you are looking for somewhere to stay.

I have stayed at "The Winch" many times for bed and breakfast as I live in Cornwall and support Somerset cricket. The letting rooms have been recently refurbished and are very comfortable with all the amenities you would expect. Patrick and Wendy and their staff are always very friendly and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. The breakfasts and evening meals are excellent and good value and the pub is at the heart of the community as any good pub should be.. The village is delightful and is a short distance from the hustle and bustle of Taunton. I would thoroughly recommend the Winchester Arms if you're looking for somewhere to stay or just for an evening out. You will not be disappointed

Beer Festival weekend. Good range of beers at the beer festival for a quaint village pub. Very popular, pub’s car park closed to accommodate extra seating. BBQ for burgers & hot dogs on sale outside the pub.

I stayed here for three nights at the end of June, and very much enjoyed the comfortable and clean room, great breakfast (included with the room rate - bargain!) and really friendly welcome by Patrick and everyone else. The dinners (and desserts) were also absolutely delicious. Thank you so much for a wonderful trip!

What a lovely lunch in this delightful pub, it really made our weekend. The Sunday lunch was hot, vegetables were just how I like them and desserts were delicious. The staff were friendly and attentive for our large group, nothing was too much trouble. The publican, Patrick, is a great host and looked after us extremely well. We would definitely consider visiting again.

Spent a lovely evening here with friends last week - service was great - all staff friendly and the food was lovely! The home made fishcakes were fantastic and the choice of puddings too!! a really lovely old fashioned pub with a great selections of Gins and Rums! I will be back! :)

This is the 2nd time I have eaten here and I'll definitely be back. Food was amazing, the portions size is very generous too. I'm a vegetarian and there was plenty to choose from. Its a proper old fashioned pub I highly recommend.

Pleasant village pub in Trull. Landlord friendly, and engaging, cheap expansive range of beers and ciders, plenty of spirits, and an array of alcohol free drinks, along with 40 different gins. Tastiest pork scratchings I've eaten, no surprise they've won an award, and pickled eggs too! Free carpark. Skittle alley with a metal chimney coming out the roof, presumably for a wood burner, to keep warm when knocking over the pins. Woman taking orders in the restaurant, assumed to be Landlord's wife, friendly, attentive and hard working. We didn't book but they found us a small table, and we ate a filling, flavoursome pub meal. They weren't trying to be something special, and I think this was reflected in the cheap price, for what was good pub food, at a very reasonable expense. Unfortunately, the pub was lacking a little, no curtains hanging, no real fire, no mood lighting or music, and at times some pretty fruity language when I suspect they want families eating in the restaurant to supplement the bar. Perhaps not when there are girls having a bawdy night out? They were showing the Six Nations rugby in the bar, which was a bonus. We'll visit again, if for no other reason than to have a non alcohol beer with pork scratchings and a pickled egg on top!

We visited this lovely restaurant in a large group, so we were able to see a large selection of meals. They were all very generous and excellent value for money, the vegetarian options proved popular too. We were really well looked after by the staff and made to feel very welcome, and the service was very good but not intrusive.

We had booked a table for 6 people and upon enquiry was under the impression the pub was dog friendly. Upon arrival we were informed that the bar seating area was the only dog friendly part of the pub which had already been part reserved for a disabled persons access and that our dog was not allowed on our reserved table which was immediately adjacent to the bar. We were made to feel very unwelcome and the unhelpful staff just shrugged and abandoned us, so we had no choice but to leave. Our Sunday lunch was ruined. Probably for the best as the pub is very dated with a 1980s social club feel and the Sunday lunch menu was roast or roast with no other options. The pub was busy but mostly with elderly regulars.

Came here on our way back from Cornwall. Decent place with good food and service. Will likely come back again if I'm ever in the area. Better than Taunton Dene Services either way

Our party of 13 plus dog visited 3 times last week, every visit being welcomed and accommodated. The service was brilliant, the food delicious and the staff and landlord were polite, chatty and helpful. Even the locals made us feel welcome and didn't seem to mind the noise we created! If we are ever back in that neck of the woods we'll be sure to pop back in.

Disappointing. Rude staff (owner) and terrible service. Despite pre-booking a table for 8pm, when we arrived (around 8.15) we were told that they were shutting at 9pm and so we couldn't have food. Two of us ordered a lager sandy and a white wine spritzer. We recieved these without the "spritzer" or the "shandy" parts! Not a nice first experience out with friends after so long......will not be returning.

Shame it's shut but lovely place

Got to be said that this village pub is a little gem. In this time of uncertainty they still continue with their excellent service when it comes to making sure your treated with the upmost professionalism and safety. I placed my order over the phone the day before, and picked it up the following day at the allotted time(please see details, this also included drinks) I was greeted at the main side door, and followed the guide lines, my food was brought to me by the chef. The food was EXCELLENT, and well worth a return visit.

Excellent takeaway tonight. Delicious fish and chips and lasagne - all home cooked. Such a treat after a busy week at work and able to get this during lock-down. Highly recommend!

We ate here for my birthday on Friday just gone, and the food was a surely delicious! Huge portions (and I'm a big eater), freshly cooked and really delicious. I had the cod fillet and almost couldn't finish my plate. My husband has the beer battered fish and chips and the batter was so fresh and crispy. My son has a severe dairy allergy, and the staff and chef were only too happy to accommodate his beds. Lovely beer garden, right next to the river. Dog friendly. All round lovely village pub.

We are regular visitors to Taunton. We found this around 7 years ago, loved it, dropped off by family. Always wanted to find it again, chance would have it we did. The food is top notch, and they were accommodating despite us arriving at 830pm....

Perfect country pub close to Taunton town. During the current coronavirus situation myself and my family want to stay away from town. The Winchester arms is great for lunch in a rural, calmer setting. Especially being only a short drive, cycle or scenic walk from Taunton town centre.
