We had a nice brunch here with friends recently as it was a midway point between us. The setting is nice and the venue is completely level access for wheelchair users, offering ample parking for such a small place. The flagstone floorings make it easy to get around and there is plenty of room in the restaurant for wheelchair users to get around easily enough. Our food was nice enough but too a long time to be served, missing one of our parties off when we were the only people there so early. They did apologise and compensate. Staff were friendly but it seemed a bit odd that our food took so long!

Nice setting but food from light bites menu was mostly disappointing. Ordered minute steak baguette - small amount of tough steak and what was described as onion marmalade was just strips of marinated? and softened onion. Friend had mushrooms in a rather bland creamy sauce. Given a small piece of rather lovely bread, she asked for another small piece, which never arrived. I asked for a drink with no ice, which came with ice. Third friend did enjoy a tasty mushroom and avocado sandwich, which they kindly toasted. Her pudding was good. Service was friendly but very slow; it was busy but it took an hour and three quarters for 2 simple courses.

It is a pretty drive in through the orchard, and it is possible to take a walk there. We were disappointed that the museum area seemed undervalued. The film about cider was not operating and the exhibits were dimly lit. The farm shop had some lovely items, great cheeses and chutneys. There was less room available indoors for tea and coffee because a large area had been made available for people eating meals. However we sat outside, where it was pleasant, apart from the wasps!

Could be so much better. Poorly organised no welcome area for the tour. Not enough staff in the shop for a Saturday afternoon. Tour guide was nice and friendly but didn't know the answers to some pretty basic sheppys questions. More interested in chatting about local pubs and breweries. Video room wasn't set up and tv video not working an audience member had to assist. Video from the 90s. Tasting was shambolic, dirty room with warm cider served. Very disappointing. trying to buy products after the tour was impossible with only two staff trying to do everything. We Ended up walking out, frustrated. What a shame, its a lovely setting. Wouldn't recommend the tour at £17 each it fekt like a waste of money. Just go to the shop yourself and wander around the orchards for free. A new "head of tours and retail" could really help you maximise this golden opportunity.

Beth had organised some baby shower games which got everyone up and chatting. Marion and the team on the day were fantastic and nothing was too much for them. Unfortunately we did not get to eat here this time but we bought a few bits from their shop - the honey & mustard scotch egg was delicious! We sadly didn't have time to enjoy the restaurant but left buzzing after the tour, having sampled several different ciders, looking around the museum and buying a variety of ciders to enjoy at home. Great job Sheppys, and what a pleasure to enjoy the tour with Mike leading the pack!! Full marks...... lovely to see cider making as it should be, traditional, authentic, and as good as it gets!! I attended a private evening party that utilized most of the public areas Sheppy's has to offer, except for the shop /deli and museum. The staff were friendly and attentive throughout evening, particularly the kind young lady who gave me an oversized slice of cake (thanks). All the seating areas were clean and aesthetically appealing. There is a LOT of history here, and the numerous pictures in the bar area give a hint of this, but as they have a museum, more is on offer in normal hours. Lots of free parking, nature trails, kids play area and a mini animal sanctuary are other reasons to visit. Obviously there is a lot of cool cider to enjoy, but most impressive thing is the way the working cider farm sits side by side with these historic buildings now converted to a high standard for functions or daytime visits to the cafe / bar. A memorable and interesting place to visit however you do it.

We held my mum's funeral reception here just last week. Cannot praise it enough. We had nearly 50 people and chose the Stable Room along with their finger buffet, which turned out to be absolutely perfect for hosting everyone after the funeral service. What could have been a difficult day, turned into the happiest occasion with all of the stress taken away from us. The staff were so wonderful to deal with and the food was fantastic and plenty for all of us. We were particularly keen to choose somewhere with access to a bar, and Sheppy's fit the bill perfectly, alongside providing unlimited tea and coffee also. Parking was super easy and we ended up actually enjoying the afternoon thanks to them. We truly could not have chosen a more perfect venue for the day and would recommend to anyone in search of a stress free location to host their friends and family.

Admittedly we hadn’t booked for lunch and arrived about 1.30pm. The restaurant looked mostly empty, but the restaurant manager told us we’d have to wait 30 mins for a meal as the chef had a lot of tickets on, if things were busy I’d have understood but they weren’t. He suggested we went to the little deli counter opposite the restaurant, so we did. There were two staff restocking items, we wandered around, looked at a few things but neither one of them engaged with us as we waited, so we left. As a contrast, we went down the road for 2 mins to a farm shop and restaurant. People were queuing for lunch, but the restaurant manager there was excellent and quickly turned tables so everyone waiting could eat. Coincidentally, a couple in front of us had also come from the cider farm and had had exactly the same experience.

An excellent experience!! We came here to celebrate my eldest daughters birthday, (her idea, as she's been here before) but the rest of our group hadn't so had no idea what to expect. But we needn't have been concerned as we were treated really well. We had Sunday lunch which was very tasty and an object lesson in quality over quantity, not the largest meal we've ever had but it was certainly superior in quality to most others we've consumed! The service was not the quickest, but they were VERY busy when we visited, and it's said that the best things are worth waiting for!! The staff we met were very polite & pleasant particularly one, who's name was Grace, I think. She went above & beyond to do what she could to make our overall experience as good as it could be, and she succeeded!! But this place goes beyond just good food, there's a lot more to see and do but sadly we ran out of time. However we do intend to return on hopefully a quieter day and see what else there is to do here, we know there are orchard walks here and we intend to try them, so watch this space for an updated review, but if you're visiting to enjoy the food you will not be disappointed - however prior booking is essential, especially at weekends.

When I had bought the two cakes, they put ingredients lists on the box. Then I find out one cake isn’t vegetarian. So we go in to ask what kind of gelatine is used in the cake and they don’t know. Put a little V or Ve in a circle or a crossed out one so customers know. It’s not difficult. Also, know what kind of gelatine is used. What a pain. Staff were nice and friendly.

Booked a cider tasting tour and was really impressed with the quality of the tour and our tour guide (can’t remember his name but he was fab). The tour was really well paced and informative and he made everyone feel included (there were around 30 of us). It’s a beautiful location and lovely that it is a family run business. The cider tasting was great we got to try 6 different ciders and he even let me try a fruity one at the end, it was a great way to finish the tour. It was really sociable too and we got to meet lots of new people. The gift shop was great and the staff were all so helpful and friendly. There was even more cider to taste in the shop! We had pre booked a cream tea for after the cider tasting (finished around 1:30ish) and weirdly they had us booked in for 3pm even though I didn’t request that? So unfortunately we couldn’t sit in the main restaurant, we had to sit in the shop - a shame, this was the only negative of the experience. The cream tea was delicious though! My partner and I visited Sheppy's due to the advertised walks around the orchard, and for a bite to eat. Firstly, we opted for the walk and followed the 'yellow route' - meant to be 20 mins. After 30 minutes of following the yellow signs, the next arrow pointed to a locked gate. Not only did the sign point to a locked gate, but also a large herd of cows behind said gate! It was a very hot day and due to my mobility issues, I would not have been able to turn around and walk another 30 mins back the way we came. Therefore, we carried on walking a little further to find another gate, which was unlocked, and another, so we went through it. After walking no more than 20 meters, a very abrupt member of staff who was gardening approached us and rudely asked where we were going. We explained that we were lost and just wanted to get out! He was really quite nasty to us, saying we 'must've gone through the gate!' Yes, we had, due to all other gates being locked! He made it clear that he did not believe us, and implied we were trespassing/had untoward intentions when it was their own fault we could not follow the standard path. As a young couple we are not at all threatening and we clearly looked lost and just wanted to get out of the grounds. The rude staff member then told us some directions, which led to a very busy main road whereby we had to walk approx 100 meters with no pavement and bad visibility of the cars speeding past us, just to get back to the car park. We had planned to stop here for lunch, but this left such a bad impression that we did not want to spend any money there or give them any business on sheer principle.

We went out for lunch on a Sunday to celebrate a birthday, just the two of us. Our first waitress, who was in training, was lovely and down-to-earth. However, she was told to bugger off by another waiter after serving our drinks and preparing to take our food order. This second waiter was a bit OTT and was speaking in a condescending way. Our starters were ok, though the scallops were slightly undercooked and the pork ribs were dry and overcooked. Midway through our starters, a third waiter interrupted us, asking if she could clear our plates and serve the main course. With food still on our plates and our mouths full, we told her we were still eating. For our main course, we ordered a Sunday roast for two and were very disappointed by the lack of meat. We were served just one thin slice of beef each, one small piece of pork each, and half a chicken breast to share. We then asked for a bit more chicken but the waiter then came back from the kitchen after speaking to the chef who said that was all there was. Throughout our meal, the staff was again overly keen to clear our plates and sides, even while we were still eating and there was food on our trays and plates. Overall, it wasn't a pleasant experience. The staff was not communicating with each other, the roast was highly overpriced for how small it was and the staff seemed like they wanted to turn over tables quickly. But at least the cider was good, and we would've had another pint but we didn't want to stay any longer after our mains.

Popped in for a bite to eat at Sheppy's on our way home from Devon, and found a smorgasbord of delights. From gorgeous homemade pies and pasties to fresh baked cakes and pastries, together with a mouth-watering selection of cheeses! But the highlight was getting to sample their brilliant range of locally made ciders before buying two dozen bottles! Great friendly service and such enthusiasm for their product. Ample parking and great food, a gem of a business in cider country!

Was a really cool place to go for a day trip and so relaxing to walk around the duck ponds and orchards. Was plenty of parking space. The dining room and menu looked amazingly cosy and appetizing sadly we didn't have the time to eat but did enjoy the cider tasting even though I don't particularly like this cider but all in all a really good day out would be nice to take the kids next time. If your ever in the area I highly recommend you take the time to visit

Food was average. Not good value for money, bacon was rock hard, tomato was tiny and air dried. £14 was very expensive for what it was. Toast was inedible. The lady with the pony tail who sat us and took our order was pleasant. Other than that we were ignored, no check backs, eventually cleared plates without saying anything. No one in the room to ask for extra drinks had to go to the servery to order. Second coffee was horrible so asked for it to be removed when we eventually paid. Couldn’t ask anyone for the bill, there were 4 tables in the restaurant when we visited and we were told there were only 3 people serving so that’s why we had to wait. Very poor. Woman on laptop rude and ignoring us. Good service really shouldn’t be that difficult.

Nice location with Free parking. Good food and pleasant staff. Not cheap, and their till system of deposit and payment seems to struggle with small groups. Which does slightly taint the experience. A well stocked shop full of local produce, and of course the ever popular Sheppy’s Cider. Still a good spot to meet and catch-up.

Nice place, limited stuff to do but nice cafe and shop. No charge to enter and walk in the orchard etc. Great cakes and nice items in the shop but both cafe and shop are very expensive. Their own Cider is very good but broadly high street prices. I would visit again if I was passing.

Visited today and thought it was great. We had coffee and a breakfast bap which were really good. Everywhere is so clean and tidy including the farm. I loved the shop and we took some cakes home which were amazing especially the cookie pie.

Always such a lovely experience and atmosphere at this pub. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. I went again last week to the Thursday night quiz and as Always Paul created the perfect atmosphere - lots of laughs with a great set of questions. Looking forward to coming again!

Little village location next to a large hall and church. Fab staff, decent food, lovely rooms and owners for whom nothing is too much trouble. Wish we'd arrived sooner to check out more the local ales. I can't see why anyone would go travelodge or chain hotel if visiting this part of England or surrounding area.
