Absolutely fabulous lunch today at The Royal Standard, Mackerel Nicoise salad and my friend had the watercress, courgette and rocket soup with loads of beautiful fresh bread. Staff were amazing, friendly and so keen to ensure our food was good. Recommend whole heartedly, thank you.

In answer to ANNE OLIVER who sent the same msg to the pub. Thank you for your feedback Anne. As you well know as a past flushing resident of 11 years, regatta week is extremely busy. Yesterday we had 42 people BOOKED in here at The Royal Standard, one of those booked tables was the 7 that you mentioned. You know how small our kitchen is and when you mentioned to me earlier that afternoon that you were heading to the pub for food, I did pre warn you that we were fully booked. My staff members have never met your partner so unfortunately weren’t aware that he was with you however that wouldn’t have made much difference to him being asked to vacate a table that was booked. Any member of staff including myself would have ask him to do the same. My chef should not have told you that he could have fed you as YES he might have been able to have cooked for you but we had no tables available for you to sit at. Thank you again for your feedback and perhaps next time you can call or message me directly in advance and I can book you a table. Regards Ginny.

Had a fantastic lunch, stopping here on a circular walk from Mylor Yacht Harbour: delicious focaccia and bread with dipping oils served first then DB had a perfect, sensibley-sized “surf and turf” with 4 ounce rump, garlicky prawns, King prawn, salad and rosemary roasted potatoes, I had delicious stuffed vine leaves and a bowl of the best chips I have ever tasted: well-seasoned, skin-on, golden brown and crispy…. several interesting veggie and vegan dishes available. Staff incredibly helpful and lovely, water and dog biscuit brought for our four-legged friend. We chose to sit outside under an awning but inside was cosy and interesting too.

Great atmosphere and the food was fantastic, great value for money.. the staff were very attentive and friendly. Highly recommend The Royal Standard.

we attended an event for flushing Regatta week, and thought we would visit the top pub...I lived in the village for 11 years,ten years ago and have always supported the standard....I was met by Hayley who said we could only have chips...ok...we'll have chips...hayley then took an order for table of 7 next to us, offering the full menu.....more dinner was served inside...i spoke to chef on my way to the ladies and he said absolutely we could have whatever we liked...when I td him we were offered only chips he said that was not the case...I then questioned hayley who said they were too busy when I came in....the chef said he could have done us after the 7 we would just have to have waited...which we quite happily would have done. as I was ordering drinks at the bar, hayley told my partner he had to move from the table he was sat and he was suprised at her rudeness.... we will of course visit the pub again which was fulll of my old friends but we will ensure that hayley is not on duty.

Popped in here during a brief visit to flushing while on holiday in Falmouth. Glad we did as food was the best we had all week and this was one of the best fish dishes I can remember having. Monkfish Pakora was just superb as was my partner's baked camembert. New potato and chips excellent too.

We visited today, having been here last year and were looking forward to returning. We came for some lunch, I sat at the small table by the window while my husband ordered some drinks he handed me a menu. The landlady? appeared and put a reserved sign on the table and said “we don’t serve food at the table” and walked off. No smile, sorry, nothing. So we went and had lunch elsewhere. Won’t be returning either.

I can't recommend this lovely pub highly enough. It feels warm and inviting, the staff are cheerful and efficient, it looks and feels great, and the food is.. AMAZING. Not only is the food amazing, but it's the best value excellent pub food I've found anywhere. The menu is waaaay more sophisticated than pub grub - it's top restaurant quality food at pub grub prices. Really. It has a comfortable terrace, a garden out back, and (unlike pubs in Falmouth), late sun. You will not be disappointed.

What a lovely place! Very, very good food and drink, beautifully cooked...best roast I can remember when we've eaten out. Roaring coal and log fire...proper Pub with top Resturant level food. Meat from Etheringtons, good range of veg freshly cooked for each table, top roasties and sausage stuffing. And the puds were great too. It ain't that complicated and it really works. You'll feel welcomed and very well fed...we all need local Pubs like this. Thoroughly recommended

Fabulous food, so good we went twice!

We were taken here by locals to the area, we had a really tasty lunch, in a pub with a wholesome atmosphere. I recommend the pan fried Hake with Mussels. Puddings were very good too. Great food.

Mother's Day roast. Excellent food and some lovely touches, a bunch of flowers and free pudding for every Mum. Lovely atmospheric pub.

Had another great afternoon at 'top pub' best in village. Locals were very friendly (didn't bite). Always fun.

Proper local pub (I’m not a local) Jan when I visited so I don’t know if the demographic changes in holiday season. Friendly, helpful staff, lovely food (Wed curry night) Not stupid prices. Great atmosphere

Sunday lunch - great service, roaring fire, good beer, beef was perfectly cooked, great roasties, Yorkshires were good. Vegetables were great - broccoli, cabbage, sprouts and carrot and i think sweede mash. All very nice. Gravy was amazing and plenty of it. Would absolutely go again.

Had a nice walk from Falmouth and Stop for a Sunday roast, very nice staff log burner was lovely and relaxing, food came out fast and when it did come out it was amazing 10/10 look forward to my next roast there.

My wife and I visited this lovely pub in the very quaint and beautiful village of Flushing. We had seen the pub on our previous visit when it was sunny and it looked busy, inside and out. On our visit it was mid-week and overcast and the pub wasn't busy at all. I sensed this was unusual and I would recommend booking in advance. Parking is at a premium in Flushing and it may involve a short walk to the pub. There is a large area for outdoor dining to the front of the pub as well as a beer garden to the rear. The inside of the pub is decorated with boating memorabilia and very much in keeping with the area. We found that there was plenty of choice on the menu and I selected the "catch of the day" which was pan fried hake with mashed potatoes and broccoli with a cheesy leek sauce. My wife chose the mussels in a marinere sauce with bread. She also added chips to her selction as they were not included. Both dishes were fantastic in both taste, presentation and portion size. The chips were unnecessary as the mussels came with plenty of bread to soak up the beautiful marinere sauce. My hake was perfectly cooked and the cheesy leek sauce is something we will add to our cooking, it was beautiful. The chalkboard menu was being prepared for their out of season Wednesday Curry Night and it looked very tempting for a future visit. Plenty of choice at very reasonable prices. Great pub, great food, great service in a dream location.

Had a most enjoyable tapas lunch today. Anchovies, prawns and mackerel pate. Adnams beer v nice and all reasonably priced. Faultless service and we'll be back. Thanks for making my husband's birthday really special.

Best mussels in a marinier sauce I’ve had in a very long time. My wife had the Cod Goujons which she said were delicious. Really excellent food served by friendly efficient staff. Would have added a pic but apparently my phone takes pictures of such immense data size, Tripadvisor’s server can’t handle them.

This pub serves quite the best seafood that I have had the pleasure to eat- surpassing most places that boast fine dining.

Surly barmaid, and a beer garden that would be depressing in the 1970s - discarded furniture rotting in a hollow, bunting stuck in a hedge and a marquee that's straight out of the Gavin & Stacey Christmas Special.

Food is absolutely delicious - everything we had was so good. The fish goujons and chips were amazing but I must make special mention of the side salad (of all things) as it had so many salad vegetables and also seeds in it. So tasty! Staff friendly, nice seating area out the front and dog friendly.

We went here for lunch.. the food was excellent and staff were really friendly. They served Complimentary bread.. which is a nice touch. I had the fish of the day which was pan fried hake in a Goan sauce with basmati rice and shellfish. It was delicious! And beautifully presented! We all enjoyed our food, I would definitely recommend!

Regularly eat here and so far haven't been disappointed. Good quality tasty food that is good value. The bread that comes with tapas is slways fresh and very welcome. It's so refreshing to still find unspoilt places in Cornwall where a few drinks and tasty food makes for a pleasant night out. Staff always friendly and accommodating.

Very rude blonde manager/ land lady. We were excited to go for a drink and potentially food if there was availability after a long walk and we told that was not possible very rudely after waiting patiently and having a free table. Totally understand if they are booked up but politeness costs nothing. Very surprised she works in hospitality! After moving to the area will not be going back.

We visit the Royal Standard in Flushing everytime we visit Cornwall. It is a lovely cosy pub (cool on hot days, roaring fire in the winter) and the food is fantastic! Lots of smallish dishes, beautifully cooked and presented that taste amazing. We had the whole baked cheese, fish goujons, hummus (marvellous!), and the mackerel. Lots of lovely fresh bread and delicious cider. Flushing is a lovely place to spend a few hours and the food here is sublime. Roll on next trip😋

Lovely village pub, very reasonable price with a great, very quiet beer garden at the back. Bit of a climb, but well worth it .

I went twice in one week. Not a great experience. I didn’t find the staff very friendly or helpful. The food was really not great. This venue used to be great. They have now changed their menu to an extremely strange sort of tapas menu but it really doesn’t work !

Great view and food but the revived Betty Stoggs was awful. Not a patch on the original.

Had a fantastic lunch at the Royal Standard Flushing. The meal was generous, tasty and beautifully presented. The landlady was very welcoming as was the rest of the staff. A gem of a pub not to be missed. We caught the ferry across from Falmouth and escaped the busy town. We sat outside the Royal Standard, in a lovely village, enjoying our food and drinks. Didn't want to leave.

They should include the lunch time. We went there around 14:00 for lunch from fleshing harbour by boat, and it was already closed for food.

Fantastic spot, delicious cold tapas and always booked out for hot food. Great vibes when sitting in the suntrap out front or enjoy the garden out the back with views of Falmouth and the estuary. Absolute gem.

Never disappoints! We have been several times and food/atmosphere are always great. There is a good choice of main courses and light bites.

Tough review, normally a great location but tonight we were treated appallingly by an older bar staff member.. order takeaway after being in the bar for the afternoon... Rudly approached a the lady to wait in the garden for takeaway... Said it is cold outside to be told.. No it is not!!!. sadly went to the garden and ask the chef if out pizza was ready, responses being no, what are we doing in the garden🤔🤔 Staff member was rude and I do not belive a true reflection of the bar but I have never been made to fee so uncomfortable, sad to think we have visited on multiple occasions as have family who live in the village.

This is an excellent venue, friendly staff and superb food and a good range of wines and beers. The Royal Standard has a lovely cosy atmosphere, and the staff cannot do more to make you feel welcome. I will be recommending this pub to friends and family who also visit Cornwall regularly.

This place was a real gem to find. A well-presented pub with plenty of tables both inside and outside on a terrace above the harbour. Good selection of beers and ciders, but what really makes it special is its tapas menu. We ate fish goujons, crispy squid, baked camembert, halloumi fries, scallops with bacon and hot prawns - all of them were delicious. The staff were very friendly and I would recommend seeking this place out.

Visited on a sunny October day for lunch and drinks. The quality and the presentation of the food was excellent. I would highly recommend the fish stew which was good value at £12.95 The staff were very friendly and the service was great. The food quality here is always excellent.. Tim is an amazing chef, despite the kitchen being so tiny. The Spanish fish stew was beautifully presented. The staff are great and the pub cozy, clean and very welcoming.

Delicious tapas, great portions and well priced. I shared the baked camembert, peppers, fish goujons and aubergine fritters. It comes with plenty of bread too!

The tapas lunch for two really dam good, comparable to being in lanzarote. Calamari, fish stew, fish goujons, mussels in garlic and white wine and chips. Wish I took a picture too.

We got a table easily on Sunday for a really enjoyable tapas. For four of us we got 6 dishes and 3 sides and it was plenty. All the dishes were tasty and delicious. Good atmosphere and surprisingly enough on the menu to ensure even the fussy eaters in our party enjoyed the meal. Great service too.

Seven of us ate here Friday night, we were warmly welcomed and served really quickly despite them being busy. We opted to have one of everything of off the menu, this was a really good decision, but possibly a little greedy. Everything was freshly cooked, really tasty and beautifully presented.
