Wow, staying from West Sussex so went for a visit today and so very pleased we did. The fish and chips was amazing with tartare sauce. Son had 6oz cheese burger and said it was so very taste. The service from the lady behind the bar was very warm and welcoming and with a smile. The young man that bought the food out was very happy in his work and to find out the fish was local was even better. Dogs were very welcome and I love the wood tables very high polished and just beautiful. Met the lady’s nephew Aubrey and what a little cracker he was. Thank you for looking after us we had an amazing lunch with you xx

absolutely great place, the staff were so friendly, and fun the service was really quick and the food was great. We visited The Cornishman 3 times during our stay in Boscastle. The only disappointment we had is we hoped to visit again on our last night only to find it was closed bit of a let down

We ate here when staying locally, myself, my wife, and my sister & brother in-laws. We'd phoned to book a table earlier in the day to be told it wasn't necessary (it is off season after all) and there were plenty of takes to choose from. The car park is small but there are public car parks nearby. We received a very warm welcome then were served by a very friendly barman. Having chosen a table we perused the menu before going to the bar to place the order. Again the staff were friendly and accommodated our requests. Generous portions of food were delivered a short while later. We all enjoyed our choices and cleared our plates. The gammon came with a wedge of pineapple, including leaves which was usual, but the fruit was sweet and tasty. The only negative comment was a lack of a side (salad?) with the scampi & chips. We all agreed the chips were excellent.

We visited today for a meal and we will never return. The lady behind the bar (greasy hair and tattoos) was extremely rude and made derogatory comments about the customers. We were made to feel as if we were an inconvenience, and despite trying to engage her in conversation, she sighed, rolled her eyes and completely ignored us. We ate our food and immediately left. As we were doing so, we then heard her making comments about our party to another member of staff. To anyone considering visiting here, if a 'Karen's Diner' experience is what you're seeking, then this is the place for you. Otherwise, stay clear!!!! I see from previous comments that we're not the first to experience this 'welcome' when visiting The Cornishman Inn. Perhaps management need to take notice before their business is ran into the ground. I only wish we had read these comments before wasting our time, patience and money!

We decided on the Cornish man for dinner, there are quite a few places in that area. And wow! The food was amazing! I can't remember the last time I had lamb and steak that tasted that good. I wish we went there sooner and not on our last night! And the portions are huge. I can't fault the place. The staff were lovely, and service was great. I even had a peak in one of the rooms, it looked so nice and comfy. If I'm ever back in the area again, I will most definitely be going here for my meals.

Small room, older hotel with pub/restaurant in English pub style. We ate fish & chips for dinner. OK. What lifts the whole place is the breakfast. The cold (yoghurt, fruit, juice, sandwich) you pick yourself. The hot food is chosen from a long menu. We ate Benedict with perfect poached eggs and an equally perfect hollandaise, respectively a vegetable plate with halloumi, pesto, tomato, potatoes, eggs... The breakfast definitely gets top marks. Otherwise average.

We didn't stay at the hotel, we were visiting the area for the day. Myself and my two sons took the walk to see King Arthur at the top of the ruins, after making it back my sons were deciding what they wanted to eat when we took a chance and came into the Cornishman. We were met by the most kind hearted woman, who made sure that my children had a glass of water before taking an order and kept the kitchen open for our order whilst they decided what they wanted. The service was incredible, the food was amazing and my family felt really cared for. My review will never be able to express just how we felt in the moment, talk about going above and beyond for three tourists, thank you so much.

Working in hospitality myself I can be quite picky. Popped in and asked about GF options for my mother in law and the lovely lady was very accommodating. Started talking about Eat out to help out and just general conversation. I’m so sorry I didn’t get the lovely ladies name but she was a lovely blonde lady behind the bar. She was a lovely host and was had lovely customer service. Now the food. As I say I can be picky. I ordered the burger to play it safe and my gosh it was the BEST burger I have had in a very very long time. My partner had the Steak and Tintagel Ale pie which he thoroughly enjoyed and my mother in law had the GF fish and chips. All left very happy and full belly’s. Cannot wait to return to this amazing place. Nice to go somewhere that shows good proper hospitality. Well done all round.

The room was basic, but expected that for price paid. Friendly welcome from angry barmaid, Donna!! Lovely young lady showed me to my room with a thorough explanation of facilities. Room as expected. Basic, but clean. Tea/coffee/milk/sugar and kettle, hairdryer. Full length mirror in room and plenty of storage/sockets. Room not cleaned throughout stay. Not too bothered about that as only there Mon to Fri but would have expected supplies of drinks replenished. Chose to leave early due to traffic and told to leave the key in the door!!! Chose to stay in a pub as potentially poor weather (it was horrendous 😢), so liked the idea of being able to have a meal and then nightcap without having to walk elsewhere.....no chance. Pub like the Marie celeste after 9pm? (Apart from a young lady (Harriet) who seemed to own the place and sat outside smoking/gossiping all night? Not unpleasant but very unprofessional. Saving grace was King Arthur Arms pub opposite. Clean, welcoming staff, good priced and the most amazing food. Breakfast was fine. Basic but OK for the price. Wouldn't return.

We ate here at least 3 times during our stay in Tintagel. The food is delicious! Everything we tried was spot on, from the: 'proper job' mixed grill (see pic) to a full rack of ribs, muscles, gammon steak, ribeye steak, and the chicken with asparagus. I had the mixed grill twice, and it was beautifully cooked and had everything a mixed grill should have - lamb chop, steak, ribs, sausage, gsmmon, chips and a fried egg. The staff were friendly and helpful. The prices are good for the amount you get and the quality. Eg mixed grill was £24; other meals were around £16, £18 for a full rack of ribs. The pub it's self is big with plenty of seating inside and out. There is a terrace area and also a beer garden with a play area. There is also a car park just behind the pub and it's just near Tintagel Castle and all the shops. I, most definitely, would recommend at least one visit to the Cornishman, but I advise to pencil in at least two visits to try another delight from the menu. Very good pub/restaurant!

Restaurant review Only: Overpriced for Tourists visiting Tintagel Castle ! We spent £120 on food and then waiter want us to pay for an extra plate. He should know the amount we spent so this can be considered against their ‘policy’. I appreciate the manager told me that there wouldn’t be charge applied but they have his policy to cover the cost. Be prepared to be discouraged from the meal you want if you visit here. Upon arrival to the bar we were greeted by a very lovely woman who proceeded to discourage us from the drinks we wanted, complaining about the price and taste and offering to make us something on a whim herself. She then said the meal I wanted to order was boring and that she’d tried it previously and didn’t think much of it, so encouraged me to try other options. Again we had to remind her (after reading the menu ourselves) we just wanted what we’d already decided upon. I appreciate the sentiment, but didn’t enjoy being pushed on what to have. Other than that, good food, lovely fresh fish, and great decor.

Wow what a fantastic little place. We only came here for an evening meal and we were very impressed. Service was friendly and very fast, and the portions were more than generous. The food itself was fantastic and I feel very fairly priced. We opted for the hunters chicken burger, delicious and a brownie and sticky toffee pudding. Both amazing. I do have one criticism though, the burger buns weren't toasted and the salad was on top of the chicken, so it was sog city! Albeit a very tasty one. Two of our children had sandwiches, they absolutely loved them 👌🏻 our youngest who’s got ARFID absolutely devoured his daily dish of Nuggets and Chips saying they were ‘SO YUMMY’ Our only criticism would be that the cheesy chips were just chips with grated cheese, an whilst the chips are delicious cheesy chips should really be melted cheese. We went here for a meal after making sure it was open in the evening. Arrived and all was dark at 7.30pm I went in to see if they were open to be told to sit the other side in a VERY dimly lit room no bar lights just one dim light over our table. The bar lady said she didn’t like working this late and to hurry as the kitchen shut at eight. Food was plonked in front of us our coats still on as it was freezing in there, garlic bread was like the cheep stuff you get in the local store and was cold. Burger was ok my husbands steak and ale pie was just puff and cold liquid. The breakfast tables were being laid as we sat at the table. One lady even had it laid around her before she got up and left. Staff all came out of the kitchen and make a deal about going leaving the bar tender on her own. We didn’t bother with sweet, just paid the bill and left. Never again

Tintagel was busy, and it was rainy, and it was lunch time!! No we hadn’t booked!! The entrance we used into The Cornishman Inn didn’t make it obvious that there were any tables however a welcoming member of staff quickly scooped us up and led us into the restaurant area which was busy but had tables available. It is quite a dark pub (I did mention it was raining) so we were fortunate to have a table near the back where it was lighter. We ordered at the bar with another friendly member of staff. We didn’t have to wait too long to order however I’d imagine it could take a while as there was only 1 person taking the drinks and food orders. We just had sandwiches for lunch which arrived relatively quickly and were tasty with fresh bread and salad. There is a carpark there.

The building itself is cute and in a good location. The service was also very friendly. Sadly the food and drink let the place down. Our coke tasted like water and our food was average. We had fish and chips which was ok, but the pineapple, chicken and pepper salad was very disappointing for the price. The pineapple came as a quarter of a whole pineapple that we had to hack into to get any flavour with the dish. There was no salad dressing either. All in all, disappointing.

A warm welcome, clean room, delicious food and good beer/cider selection. Ideally situated for the castle and coast path.

Loved the atmosphere and the staff. The food was delicious, we had a pie and a chicken with asparagus. The selection of beers is quite nice! Recommend it

Called in for lunch. Was told we couldn't eat outside but they would reserve a table and call us inside when our order was ready. This worked fine for us and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Nothing seemed too much trouble. Most of...

Looks like it might bec cosy during the winter, but in the summer you're either outside or inside on parquet flooring, surrounded by mis-matched chairs and tables. Perfectly acceptable food, zero atmosphere/local vibe.

Visited on a busy Saturday lunchtime after spending the morning walking the costal path. Service was timely, friendly and professional; despite being very busy. The food was well prepared and presented; honest, good pub food at very reasonable price.

The worst customer service we’ve received in the whole of Cornwall. Seated 9 of us for a meal at 5:30pm, the place was about half full, our party included 5 children. Ordered drinks which were all flat and warm, no ice. Went back up to...

So. We came here on the 1/8//21 and wish we hadn’t, I think the staff are a little too comfortable here and don’t want to accommodate people that aren’t locals, shame because the location is lovely, 0 customer service- rude staff, all the drinks were...

We have been visiting this pub for years and it's a welcoming, friendly pub. This time we had food and sadly we were disappointed. We sat at the edge of the patio as we had a dog with us and we were ignored by 2 serving staff for about 15 minutes before a waitress finally came over to serve the people behind us and asked if we'd been served yet... Being veggie there was not a great deal to choose from but we ordered vegan fish and chips and the halloumi salad. Husband said the vegan fish was not very good compared to others he'd had and I have to say the Halloumi salad was not good at all. It was literally chunks of grilled halloumi on a bed of iceberg lettuce and drowned in caesar dressing. I couldn't eat much of it. Still the cider was great and staff friendly.

The place we'd booked has a Covid case, so we had to find somewhere in Tintagel at short notice. After a wander up and down the main street, the Cornishman seemed to be the best option. It didn't start well... The waitress who took our drinks order didn't know anything about the beers and ciders on offer, In fact, she seemed much more interested in her false fingernails than either us or the drinks. My wife ordered fish and chips, which were very good. I chose steak (or maybe steak and ale) pie. This was in a pot covered with a lot of puff pastry and came with chips. The pot contained a few pieces of beef that were OK. The beef was in a very watery tasteless liquid (you couldn't describe it as gravy or sauce). I ate the beef and the nice chips and left the rest.Someone who seemed to be in charge asked us how our meals were, so I told her that I was disappointed with the pie, and explained why. I'm pleased to report that she credited us our second round of drinks and said she'd pass my feedback onto the chef

We had our evening meal here one night whilst staying in Tintagel. We really enjoyed the food here, it’s proper pub grub with really generous portions. The place was just under staffed which seems to be common for most places at the moment. This meant everything was really slow and mistakes made as the place got busier. Can’t knock the staff who were on shift for trying to get on top of it and serve everyone.

Used to get food here pretty much every week for 3 or 4 people. Food has always been very good but today I asked for a pot of chilli sauce separate as don't like it drenched all over my food. Sauce turned up with a note on saying next time I need to pay for the sauce! But u don't have to pay if u want ur food swimming in it?? Very disappointed as I'm a very regular customer.

Honestly just meh. Thought we would treat ourselves to fish and chips from here for our last night in Cornwall and it really wasn’t worth it. The price is extremely expensive for what it is. I didn’t find the atmosphere welcoming. You can definitely tell they favour the locals. There was one person in front of me, once I ordered a further 5/6 people came in and somehow even though we basically ordered the same as everyone else they all got their orders first. We finally got ours when we were the last ones there. When we got the food my partner said the sausage was disgusting, and the fish batter was incredibly oily and yet the fish itself was very dry… not sure how that happened. Personally do not recommend, if you can definitely go to the lizard much better quality.

Had gammon, egg and chips which was excellent and wife had lamb kofta which she also thought was fantastic. Had been recommended this place and it did not disappoint. Staff were lovely and friendly. We got there at 12.30 on a Thursday in middle of October and it was already quite busy. Doesn't take bookings so worth getting there early and is not very big. Is dog friendly.
