Didn’t stay but went for dinner - good GF options and nice waitress, however overall quality of food poor - ordered grilled fish with veg and potatoes - a school dinner sized portion of reheated food for £19! May be a stone throw from the station but that may be one of its only redeeming factors. £50 bill for two below average meals and two drinks - will not be returning

Shocking customer service, the member of staff had a shocking attitude, we tried to call to book, no answer, several times, eventually the phone was answered and we kept getting cut off...🙄...we eventually walked to the restaurant to find an empty pub / restaurant to be told that there was no table available for another 45 mins to an hour ...there were about 4 taken with nobody eating, just drinking on a Monday night, the member of staff we spoke to couldn't care a less and clearly didn't want our business, we won't be returning...

Lunch only. The pub is located directly opposite the Premier Inn and next to Penzance Railway Station in a tiny oasis of pubs & restaurants at the end of the main shopping street of Penzance. The rest of the high street is littered with charity shops, failing businesses with 'Turkish Barbers' seemingly doing particularly well. Clear signs of a town in decline although it was well out of season. The Longboat Inn is a beautiful refuge serving fine ales, cider and good local food including freshly caught fish. The pub is clean and fresh with excellent, attentive, professional staff and the food was excellent. We had the whole plaice which featured on the specials board. It was delicious. Note that they also do a 3-course meal for the over 60s for £10.95 which looked great too. All credit to them.

We tried to book online unsuccessfully. Arrived and were told we would have to wait over an hour, so we said we would have a drink at the bar. Some people were leaving and we got their table. We still had to wait to order food. It was semi busy, but we noticed only 3-4 meals were delivered to tables while we waited. Ordering drinks at the bar was fine. It felt like we were at Fawlty Towers. Finally, we got to order and the food was delivered in a timely manner. Food was not too bad, but the service from the two guys behind the bar as appalling. It was a bank holiday, but surely they could have been a bit more honest in advising us of their process.

Well situated hotel, a stone's throw away from the train station (literally like a 45-second walk). The rooms were spacious and had a character/charm to them. They were comfortable, warm, and clean. The breakfast was a very typical English breakfast and was quite tasty. You have to make reservations for dinner and breakfast at the hotel as the dining room cannot accommodate too many people at once. The welcome was great; would recommend

On holiday in Cornwall so visited this lovely pub whilst in Penzance. The pub was very clean, and comfortable. Initially just had a drink, but then decided to have a sandwich for lunch. We went to the bar to order food, to be told that we haven't booked a table, but they could fit us in at 1.15pm. We were already at a a table in an empty pub so was baffled as to why we had to book. They also turned away other people walking in saying there would be a 45-60 minute wait on food. Clearly do not want business.

Food really good, staff good, cleanliness good. The room had the facilities and was tidy but their were issues. Firstly cold very cold with the radiator not working had to use provided 3kw fan heater, bathroom was unbearable. Shower, water doesnt stay in tray due to curtain arrangement and shower head pressure, I could dribble better. Last but not least emergency green led standby light eliminates the whole room at night so your in some weird lumescient green flotation tank , just incase not required for bedrooms. For the owners info to rectify issues , room 18. If these issues weren't present I would return but wouldn't take the chance.

We visited Penzance 2 years ago and we visited The Longboat most evenings on our way back to our hotel. It was a fantastic pub; great atmosphere, good priced wine and nice food. This year what a difference. Most nights there was a sign outside saying "Open for Drinks only". We went in and couldn't understand why they were closed to food customers as there were plenty of spare tables. The most distressing part however was that the atmosphere that had brought us back night after night had gone. The second night we went (we had to give them a second chance) we asked them to change the music as it was so depressing. So sad as we had had many happy evenings two years ago.

If I’d written this review earlier today, I’d have left a good review after visiting last night and earlier this afternoon. However, we attempted to visit this evening and after passing a sign advising no tables available, I noticed that there were several tables free in the bar area with no notice on (as some were) with reserved on the table.I got to the ‘wait here sign’ with my partner around 20:00 to be told be some snotty young lad “I’ve got no availability as the sign says” after I requested a table for 2 for drinks only. Well you ignorant little man. You had multiple tables without reserved notices on in the bar area so attitudes like that will make that attempt tonight my last ever visit to your pub. I hope your manager puts your on a course to get your facts right and to treat customers with respect, not sarcasm, as you did tonight. Not impressed at all, anyone wanting nice service near the station, visit the crown around 2 minutes walk away.

Shown to our socially distanced table with one use paper menus along with an apology saying “very busy but we’ll be with you as soon as we can” - nice little thing to say (didn’t have to wait long at all). Visors/face masks being worn by all staff. Ordered spicy bean & corn burger and beef burger - chips amazing (best had in a long time - even better than a fish & chip shop!!!). Came in for drinks two days in a row. The staff couldn’t have been friendlier or more helpful. They are taking the current situation very seriously, even turning away a lot of customers as they normally show football but due to the circumstances have decided not too- but telling customers which pubs are showing it. Took our numbers as we walked in, made sure no tables were over 5 people and wiping down all chairs and tables when people leave. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff, even to the extend they knew my child didn’t like ice in his drink, they offered to replace it when they realised a bit was poured into a glass.Atmosphere is very chilled during the day and family friendly but also couples having drinks. Didn’t eat but would need to book if you were going too. Big drink list. Would definitely return if we come back to the area. Thank you for making the experience so ‘normal’ and fun.

Was in Penzance for a few hours, had to kill some time waiting for the train and decided to try the food in the Longboat. I had the steak sizzler, my friend had the vegetarian burger. The sizzler tasted great but the portion size was a bit small. The homemade chips came on a fairly large oval plate, filling less than half the plate, the steak with peppers etc came on a small iron plate (sizzling and smelling great), however, when moved on to the plate with chips, there was a lot of space left. My friend seemed to enjoy the veg burger (if you like that sort of thing). I would suggest filling the plate more (maybe use a salad garnish or peas) or using a smaller plate.

My wife and I stayed for a three night break and had a lovely stay. We arrived at 10pm off a late train and received a warm welcome and had our bags taken up as we were on the second floor and there is no lift. A member of staff even phoned during the journey as they had heard of train delays and were concerned. The location is perfect, adjacent to railway and bus stations, the main shopping street and the sea front. Rooms have been refurbished with new ensuite fittings and furniture (bed was one of the best hotel beds experienced) but it is a shame the refurbishment did not include a shower cabinet to replace the curtain arrangement. It has to said that the Saniflo toilet system is a bit noisy and intrusive but presumably is the only way to provide drainage on the top floor. It was obvious that a lot of effort and care was being into the business and we appreciated that. Now for the best bit....the food. The menu is extensive and very well priced and as older guests we appreciated the over 60s small portion deal which was really well priced. Food was top class as was the service from all the friendly staff and the traditional ambience. The opening of a new Premier Inn in 2020 directly across the street must be a concern but the food and atmosphere and perhaps some further refurbishments should ensure the inn's survival. We thoroughly recommend it!

Usually someone would come and ask if you're ok for drinks! What if I'd been on my own - could have come back to find my meal cleared away!! Maybe someone should re-think that one? Shame because otherwise very good - spoiled a nice evening.

I was watching as they cooked our food and all I saw was 2 chefs dancing around and one sneezed into his hands and continues to cook and then the same chef was scratching his face close to his nose and did not wash his hands. I think if this sort of behaviour is going to take place then they should at least close the door so we cannot see them contaminating our food.

We were a group of cousins on a road trip throughout England. Perfect place to stop for the night. Self service laundry across the street from the Inn. We got directions from the staff for our travels the next day. Room was comfortable and clean.

We went for a carvery for the first time and absolutely loved it. Fresh, home cooked, really tasty. Veg was really nice in particular the cauliflower cheese. Nut roast also a real credit. We come here regularly for drinks but the food was absolutely superb. Highly recommend. The staff are also really friendly and welcoming.

After a 10 hour train journey from Newcastle we were pleasantly surprised to find The Longboat Inn within a couple of minutes walk from the Train Station. On arrival to check in we were greeted by a lovely young chap who knew who we were by name which was very welcoming. After explaining all about the facilities we made our way to our rooms. Both rooms were clean comfortable and with everything you would require for a short stay away from home . Breakfast was an array of hot and cold food with plenty of choice and definitely something for everyone . Staff were always friendly and helpful and were overjoyed when we decided to use our horticultural skills in the herb garden . We enjoyed a day exploring Penzance and found the Longboat Inn very central and close to all local amenities. The landlord thanked us personally for the work in the herb garden and was very appreciative . Highlights of the trip were ..... best gin and tonic ever served by the Longboat Inn .... breathtaking views and really friendly people. A home from home visit and would definitely recommend . We are are currently on the 10 hour train trip home . Thank you Bill Irene Julie & Caroline x

We made a beeline for The Longboat when we arrived for a daytrip to Penzance because it looked great from the outside. We arrived hoping to order a meal in the dining room and enjoy an evening there, and specifically picked it because there is a vegan menu. Unfortunately we stood waiting to be seated at the designated spot for what felt like ten minutes (but of course it was probably less than this). While standing there we were passed by members of staff a few times who either ignored us completely, or looked over and then went back to what they were doing. We were stood next to a couple waiting to check in who looked similarly bemused by the whole scenario. We decided to leave rather than persevere in what was becoming quite a negative visit that we no longer felt enthusiastic about.

Stayed here before and after our trip to the Scilly Isles. Ideal location for an overnight stay as very close to the quay and the car park. Rooms comfortable although the en suites are a bit small. Breakfast good with plenty of choice.

We booked at 6.15 for an evening meal, not served until 7.25 and when it arrived it was terrible ,I don’t think this is a normal occurrence - The England football game was on , The manager apologised and charged us nothing , but we do not feel that we will try it again.

Was advised by the car rental company (Enterprise) that the Longboat could store our luggage whilst waiting the 3 hours for our train - correct (£3 per bag and well worth it). Had a drink as well before leaving - the Betty Stoggs beer went down very well. Did a quick bit of shopping in town before heading back for another pint and to collect our bags and suffer the 6 hour trip back to London. Very friendly staff, good service with a smile. Plenty of facilities available, will definitely pay another visit when next in town. Also offers food all day, including breakfast, rooms, free wi-fi, TV and a very pleasant atmosphere.

Without a doubt the friendliest pub in St Ives. Fantastic landlord, manager and staff who always made us feel welcome. Our son was always made to feel welcome too, he loves his football and music and pool! Had something for everyone everyday. And a special shout out to Yogi Bear the pub dog who is adorable. Great choice of drinks, reasonable prices what more could you ask for on holiday or local for that matter! X

‘Student vibe’ but great for a family meal as very welcoming. Dog friendly, great online food and drink ordering system and really friendly and efficient staff. Good selection of food choices and quality was great. Overall, really good and highly recommended.

Lovely village pub, within a stones throw of the local beach. Didn't get to eat here but the food looked amazing.
