Only stayed for one night. COVID policy in place. Good breakfast but needs a refurb. Not that clean overall and as expensive as far better places in the area once you pay for breakfast on top. I would not stay again

Lovely village pub, right in the centre, live music on the Saturday we were there. The food looked great and the staff and locals were very friendly.

It's many years since I stayed at The White Hart and a few years since I last ate here, but the food was as good as ever. Friendly staff. A good choice, reasonably priced and you certainly come away full.

Great value, dog friendly, very clean, shower and bath in a large room, lovely bedding. Free Parking on site. Field walk for my dog close by. Slightly quirky as an old building but certainly not a down side. I had the chicken balti which was delicious and sticky toffee pud with custard. Equally delicious. It’s in a small village which was lovely and perfect for my needs.

Great pub with a great Landlord and staff, always made welcome and food is very good value for money. Would highly recommend a visit if you're in the area, I understand there is a great bed & breakfast service also on offer.

We came to this unpretentious village local for an evening meal after a day's walking, and received a warm welcome from the landlady. There was a wide choice of menu and the meal was accompanied by three well cooked veg and piping hot chips. Not 'fine dining' but nourishing wholesome fare and excellent value for money.

This is a dog friendly country pub with good beer and good food. 5 of us had Sunday carvery which was delicious and excellent value. The staff are very friendly and we were made most welcome. The beer was well kept and there was a welcoming log fire. We enjoyed our lunch and highly recommend this pub.

Really friendly staff and locals, great local ales and family friendly. Reason for the four star was they wasn't serving food Sunday night as they'd had the car very on during the afternoon. Not major but not perfect........had to settle for some pork scratching with a pint of Sea Breeze......not bad at all. Proper Pub!

I travelled from Essex to stay here the nights of 18-19th November 2016 and overall was pleased with the weekend. I have 4 dogs so was surprised that they were all allowed for a start and no additional charge for them was a bonus. The room (No 2) was fine for me - the entry door led into a hallway with a bathroom at the end to the left and the bedroom to the right which allowed space to separate the dogs at feeding time and plenty of space for them to plod about between wet walks! And it was wet!! The room was clean & tidy with digital TV, tea making facilities and thermostatically adjustable radiators in the bedroom and bathroom which was great for drying all the coats! Now to the food!! I have seen a review on here about the food - "Awful overpriced food" - which I think is unfair unless of course the author did broach this with the staff at the time, but that's just my opinion. My review is based on a pub offering dog friendly B & B and The White Hart met my expectations in that respect. I was not expecting gourmet meals just honest 'pub grub' and that's what I got. In particular I liked that the salad, although basic, had been freshly prepared and not just tipped out of a bag! This pub is family owned and run and everyone I met was friendly, helpful and efficient from check-in to check-out and this includes breakfast and evening meal in the restaurant. I chose this B & B based on location relative to where I was going over the weekend and that it allowed the 4 dogs. So would I stay there again? Yes in a heartbeat!!

On our visit in mid November the pub was selling fish and chips to eat in or carry out ( just as the village shop just along the road now does takeaway hot food. The pub does a mid afternoon happy hour plus.

Went in here for dinner one night during a recent stay in the village as it was the only option available. I ordered the "homemade chicken curry" and my husband ordered the lasagne. Both were absolutely dismal. The chicken curry was particularly bad; had the texture of a frozen/tinned curry but they seemed to have thrown in a couple of extra pickled onions to add to its authenticity! As we were sat in the bar, a man arrived with a delivery of pre-prepared meals and handed them over to the bar staff in return for £50. They are clearly just freezing and re-heating these to order. The restaurant's interior was grim and dark, and despite us being the only people in there the service was slow and unhelpful. What's more, for two main courses and four pints it came to over £45 so not even good value. They STOP serving food at 8pm so the only other customers were turned away when they arrived just after 8pm hoping for a meal - lucky them I say! Avoid avoid avoid!

Gracias

The pub is very out of date, with little old world charm. Toilets were not clean and the whole feel of the place was grubby. I only stayed for one pint. I dread to think what the food is like.

If they carry on serving food in this way, they will go under & have no one to blame but themselves.THIS IS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE.We turn up on a Saturday evening 8:20pm the pub wasn't busy. The lady behind the bar was pleasant, we asked if the lasagne was homemade, the lady behind the bar hesitated & said yes, this made me suspicious straight away, we ordered two pints of ale & two lasagnes,(not off the budget board but full price)of which we were told it came with chips & salad(no garlic bread as I've read in other reviews) we sat down & 15 mins later our food arrived, bowl of American fries(a no no for a country pub) & the smallest salad I've ever seen(garnish more like).Worst part was the Lasagne, it came out in a large dish & was searingly hot(out of the mic) I put my fork in & couldn't believe it, I had NO meat, & one little sheet of pasta, the lasagne was just bechamel sauce, it was laughable. My husband complained & the lady behind the bar offered a full refund. When we came to leave, she gave us a refund of one lasagne not two, so my husband said we are not leaving without a full refund, she informed us she was only authorised to give one refund "WHAT?" So off she goes to make a phone call to someone in charge, finally we get a full refund. So moral to the story WHITE HART OWNERS, you carry on treating people in this way you will fast go out of business, there are plenty of great country pubs around that are far superior to yours, I suggest you up your game. Or maybe you just don't care. It's such a shame as its a lovely pub in a very nice village, but you are letting it down.More than disappointing.

We had a good meal here whilst staying in a self catering cottage nearby. The food was very good, served efficiently and quickly by friendly staff ( the fact that the waitress was a Yorkshire lass was a bonus!). Portions were quite substantial and nobody would go hungry! They also have a selection of real ales, of which the Sail Ale went down very well.

I lived in a cottage opposite the White Hart 30-plus years ago, so whenever I am in the area visiting old friends I always call in for a trip down memory lane. The pub is pretty much as I remember it, a great village local, good beer and food, mainly local clientele as Menheniot is off the tourist trail, but if you want a traditional cornish pub you can't go wrong here.

This friendly pub provides good value for money. It is an ideal place to eat dinner if you are staying in a local B&B or self-catering property in or near St Keverne. There is a good variety of food for all tastes, food is served promptly and courteously and is excellent value for money. We ate here on a number of occasions during our stay in St Keverne and enjoyed every meal we had there.

We ate here twice as we were staying in the village, on both occasions we found the food average, the service was poor and they did not seem to be coping with larger numbers ordering food.We waited 40 minutes which we felt was too long. One table next to us were served their starter and main course more or less at the same time! It could be so much better! It serves good beer.

We knew the pub but had never eaten there so thought we'd give it a try. The menu was one step up from pub fish and chips or cottage pie, but there was enough choice to tempt us. I had a sweet chilli chicken with prawns (£9.45) and my partner had the Landlord's Chicken Curry (£8.95). Both were standard pub fare without trying to be anything other than that, but that's all we were looking for. On the plus side both dishes came out piping hot, and thus remained hot as we ate our meals. You couldn't fault them for the amount of chicken in each meal - in fact my partner having a smaller appetite couldn't finish hers. And with mine, when they said 'with prawns' they certainly meant it - I lost count of how many juicy king prawns there were in my meal. The menu and the meals were not sophisticated, but were good value - they certainly didn't hold back on the portion sizes. The restaurant side of the pub had a pleasant enough feel about it, and I particularly liked the fact that they hadn't crammed in as many tables as they could into the available space...it was nice not to feel hemmed in, and people weren't sat on top of one another for a change. The staff were pleasant enough, and checked that everything was OK and didn't fuss us beyond that. Not somewhere I'd go out of my way for, but I'd call in again if I was passing nearby. Certainly reasonable food at very reasonable prices. You couldn't knock them for value for money.

We arrived at 6 pm and asked if food was being served. The barmaid checked with the kitchen and was told that although they had a party in they could accommodate us. Whilst waiting for a friend to join us I observed how untidily the tables were laid. We then ordered or food, and mentioned that our friend had been delayed but was due soon - we also mentioned that we needed to be served promptly as we had a meeting to attend. The party pure booked arrived along with others including a family staying in the hotel. Our friend arrived and was told that someone from the kitchen would take our order. This did not happen and when we enquired why were told that the party was their priority and that the residents would also have priority, even though they arrived after us. The Hayloft is just outside the village and will be receiving our custom instead. We are local to this village and will warn others off using this pub.

My wife and I attended a pre-Christmas meal with a group of fellow Coastguard voluntary officers. The welcome and service from all staff was superb, and could not be faulted in any way.The starter soup and home made bread roll or salmon was excellent. The main course (I had the roast beef) was truly superb as was my wife's turkey roast, all piping hot and whole party seved within a couple of minutes by chef and partner. The dessert was also excellent. The meal was served by the chef and partner (who used to be at The Black Swan in Gweek until management changed - that always used to be a very reasonably priced carvery, again of superb quality - well The Black Swan's loss of chef and partner is The White Hart's big gain. The chef and partner lady (don't know if it is his partner, but they work together really well) checked with every individual that everything was satisfactory - more than satisfactory in our opinion. The White Hart could not be faulted or improved in any way for our party, and we'll definitely be eating there again, and can thoroughly recommend the food and service there.

Disappointing. Could and probably should be so much better. Lots of potential for developing its original, character as a genuine and long established village pub but significantly redone. Not perhaps unlovely, more rundown. Maybe there isn't enough regular trade to bring a bit more life and conviviality back in. The food was very ordinary and not very well presented. I can understand that this village is well off the beaten track and there must be next to know passing trade but I am just reviewing on the basis of my experience of coming to drop off some kit on a local resident and needing a feed. It was not great. Another time I would move on the pub at Tideford.

Whilst down in Penzance for the day I gave Waves a try for some lunch. Good first impressions, very clean and nice feeling. Given the menus, drinks, specials and the main menu. I decided on two pots of tea, ham egg and chips and scampi and chips. Got a large pot of tea for two, even though it didn't say that on the menu. No problems though. Ham egg and chips looked great and tasted great. The scampi and chips were nice plenty of scampi but lacking in fries. Personally I would have preferred the chunky chips with the scampi. I did feel the scampi was slightly overpriced to be honest at I believe £15.95. The total cost for the above was £36.90 ! It seemed expensive for what we had to be honest. Also we asked for some homemade coffee and walnut cake to take away. I was gobsmaked when they asked for another £5.95 for that ! I guess you learn by experience. Overall it was nice but not amazing. Friendly staff, and very clean. But probably wouldn't return purely based on the prices. Give it a go see if I'm right 👍

I don’t understand some of the previous reviews - the haddock was beautifully cooked with a very thin and crispy batter, the chips were soft inside and crispy outside and the tea was obviously made by someone who actually drinks tea! Great lunch spot.

Great family & pet classic pub! After a day in St Ives and an afternoon at Lands End we needed a hearty dinner for 2 adults and 4 healthy appetite teens. The pub had a few regulars in, and easily accommodated us and our Border Collie. Within 5 minutes of being seated, a drinks order was taken, and upon quick receipt of our drinks our food order was taken. 1 beef lasagna, 1 Scampi, 1 Curry of the day, 1 children’s fish & chips, 2 8oz burgers and side orders of onion rings and sweet potato fries. The food was cooked fresh, served within good time and hot! The Burgers, fish, scampi and sides were very much enjoyed. The curry was mostly eaten, just a little bit spicier than expected and the lasagna was a bit too dry for our youngest palate. The bar staff and waiting staff were really friendly, and checked on us enough to show care and not impose.
