The best restaurants serving British food in South East

This restaurant used to be our go to a quick, great value, tasty lunch. No more! We had to wait quite a long time for our food. We ordered the cod goujons in brioche bun and got only one measly goujon that was more batter than fish and the fish was dry, it was so overcooked. Same for the fish & chips where the fish was a skinny strip of fish in several inches thick batter, tasteless and dry with a very small portion of chips and very unappetising mushy peas - costing £13.95! My daughter’s salad was missing most of the ingredients and we had to ask for them which took quite a while to arrive. Won’t be returning here.

Very nice food and location but loads of dogs some eating off customers plates which was off putting and unhygienic . Cafe oowners should realise that not everyone is a dog lover,or frightened or allergic ,I also think it is very unhygienic in restaurants or eating establishments to allow dogs in.

What a dump, sticky tables dirty toilets, no atmosphere go upstairs and get a warm welcome and a decent beer, go here and you will regret it for sure

Meet up with friends & there doggie's for lunch, we have a lovely time grew food & super friendly staff, then done wine tasting & brought wine cheese & crackers

Went out for a family dinner there was 14 of us and what a service we had, the waiter called Leo wow what a very polite young man and nothing was to much for him getting anything we asked for.. couldn't thank him enough.

Very average food i cook better at home. No effort was made to please. everything seemed too much trouble.service and atmosphere very bad.wont be returning

Restauration horrible digne d'un fast food des bas quartier. Heureusement la quantité dérisoire vous évite, la plus part du temps, une intoxication alimentaire. Et tout ça, à un prix exorbitant bien-sûr. À éviter de toutes urgences si vous tenez à votre santé.

This venue makes no claim to be gourmet food, but it’s great for families and solo diners. There is space for many customers and designated for quiet eating. Nice burgers with chips and coleslaw

Me encantaría poder escribir una reseña, pero después de haber aparecido dos veces en las últimas 5 semanas entre las horas de apertura anunciadas, me han dicho que están cerradas. Una vez a las 9. 15 am y hoy a las 4 pm. Una forma extraña de manejar un negocio. No me molestaré de nuevo. Demasiados lugares excelentes para ir en Hove que están abiertos. Una pena porque un hermoso espacio en un gran parque.

Left without having dinner due to feeling hotel manager was unprofessional and unwelcoming. This is the second review I’ve ever written in my life! (The only other when a pie man shouted at my young daughter for curiously touching a pie). The hospitality business is 50% about the staff imo and I have given 3stars because the revamp is good and the ambiance nice and cosy and tasteful. The young bar staff were pleasant and the receptionist was charming and helpful. However, this has been the second time I have found the hotel manager to be short, unfriendly and downright rude. My partner then arrived and the first thing he said to me was the bar manager is really rude! Sort it out! You’re losing customers. How hard is it to be welcoming and polite and helpful? We went to a pub down the road the food was questionable but half the price and the customer service was friendly.

I entered teh shop for a take away as I was shopping in Chichester and was hungry. I saw a very inviting looking pasty 'Beef and chilli' advertised at £4.70 take way price. I offered a £5 Bank of England note (Legal tender in England I am led to believe). I was told 'I am unable to accept cash' I shall be complaining to trading standards about this but in the mean time please don't shop here until they accept the currency of the land.

Eaten here twice now as no other options available. First time was in May 2022 and we were offered pizzas as there was no other food. We paid £15 each and watched the 'chef' open frozen Chicago town pizzas! We could not believe our eyes. Ate here last week as well as we were unable to find anywhere outside of the airport to eat and this time all that was on offer was sausage rolls and macaroni cheese at £15 for what I would consider to be a portion suitable for a 5 year old!

Aunque por una vez el café no se había quedado sin lo que queríamos el tiempo que tardó en ser servido fue increíble. Personal amable, pero no lo suficiente de ellos o demasiado lento. Casi pierdo la voluntad de Vive. Usará M&S a partir de ahora

lovely food.. l should have asked for a spare plate and only one serving of sandwiches between me and mum - mum and l had cheese and fig chutney sandwiches - crisps and green salad. Dad had one of his favorite sandwiches. l had a juice and pot of tea for one.. my dad had a beer l think and mum had ginger beer. service was ok.. bit slow but totally understanding that there where a lot of people dining in on account of the rain. it was really nice to see a few of the same staff we saw on our last visit in February. l really liked the rooms and loved just sitting there looking around at the artwork etc while eating my lunch.

I ordered two large chips to take away. When I opened them at home we could barely eat 1/2 of what we ordered as they were Rock hard and un-edible. Obviously had been the dregs of the leftovers. The bare faced cheek to sell these to a customer is unbelievable.
