My friend took me for afternoon tea for my birthday and we had very friendly service and delicious food in such a beautiful setting

Could not fault the service, but was not too impressed with the menu, or food in the bar. Being a Best Western hotel, i thought the menu could have been much larger, not a great deal to choose from. I had the burger, and the wife had their version of mac and cheese. There was a nice ambience to the bar area, despite only a handful of folk in.

Shockingly slow service. Ordered a coffee and it took 10 minutes - one coffee! Were they roasting the beans?! Have been before it was the same story. Other customers were complaining due to the slow service. It wasn't even that busy. Would be a nightmare at any sort of peak time. Hopefully it will become a Costa so there's less chance of dying of thirst.

Ate lunch here with my mother and grandchildren before visiting the circus. Restaurant was busy but we found a seat. Lunch food was all prepacked in plastic, and fairly expensive for what you got. Ide maybe try a cooked lunch next time as hate all that plastic going into the environment! 😞

I entered teh shop for a take away as I was shopping in Chichester and was hungry. I saw a very inviting looking pasty 'Beef and chilli' advertised at £4.70 take way price. I offered a £5 Bank of England note (Legal tender in England I am led to believe). I was told 'I am unable to accept cash' I shall be complaining to trading standards about this but in the mean time please don't shop here until they accept the currency of the land.

Eaten here twice now as no other options available. First time was in May 2022 and we were offered pizzas as there was no other food. We paid £15 each and watched the 'chef' open frozen Chicago town pizzas! We could not believe our eyes. Ate here last week as well as we were unable to find anywhere outside of the airport to eat and this time all that was on offer was sausage rolls and macaroni cheese at £15 for what I would consider to be a portion suitable for a 5 year old!

lovely food.. l should have asked for a spare plate and only one serving of sandwiches between me and mum - mum and l had cheese and fig chutney sandwiches - crisps and green salad. Dad had one of his favorite sandwiches. l had a juice and pot of tea for one.. my dad had a beer l think and mum had ginger beer. service was ok.. bit slow but totally understanding that there where a lot of people dining in on account of the rain. it was really nice to see a few of the same staff we saw on our last visit in February. l really liked the rooms and loved just sitting there looking around at the artwork etc while eating my lunch.

Visited here to do some early Christmas shopping and took advantage of the members complimentary breakfast, drink and cake. Service from Louis was brilliant and the food was really quick. Bacon roll was hot and had 3 thick slices of good quality bacon in brioche and the cakes for my grandchildren were beautiful. Teapot holds at least 2 cupfuls which is always nice! I’ve never had a bad experience here and the food and service are excellent!

Large pub, good value for drinks, friendly staff. This is a place for a couple of quick drinks whilst out an about.

Ordered a take out from here tonight. First time. Food was fresh and good quality but unfortunately it was rather cold. Another order was picked up along the way which delayed things slightly. The extra 10 mins caused the food to go cold sadly. I would use them again but would hope for hotter food next time.

My partner booked the hotel for my birthday. When we arrived the interior was stunning, with open fire and lovely wood on the walls ,. Then we checked in at reception and we was given our room key and Told that our room had stunning views of the South Downs. On the way to the room, the hotel showed itself in the true light. Carpets badly Threadbare in places. When we finally managed to find the room we had trouble with the key ( normally it’s a card not an actual key). When we got into the room we where taken back by how scruffy and dirty it was. The bathroom was so old, no toilet roll holder. The bedroom was dusty and the bed was so noisy when you sat on it that you tried not to move. The small tv was right across the room I had trouble seeing it. The two lamps above the bed had no light shades and one of the bulbs didn’t work at first. And several cracks in the ceiling. Everything in the hotel needed some attention . The swimming pool was badly maintained and again shabby. The following morning there was no cooked breakfast which in all the hotels I have stayed in have this option. There was hardly any staff. The hotel could be such a beautiful place if it was cleaned and money spent on it. would not stay there again. The only good thing was the stunning view of the South Downs from the window.

I have always found the fish and chips from this shop very good, this evening however, it was as though I had visited a different place altogether. I ordered two medium haddock, but was surprised to see two very small pieces of fish, not what I have experienced in the past. I dread to imagine how small the small fish are. Maybe I was given small by mistake. Sadly the chips were overcooked, which added to my disappointment. So sorry to make such a negative review, but I will try there again as past experiences have been much better.
