The best restaurants serving British food in South East

Staff very friendly and efficient. Food nice and as expected for a hotel grill/bar/restaurant. But seriously the prices? £18.49 for an average burger and chips? These are prices you would expect to pay for a burger at a very nice restaurant not at at a restaurant at The Village. It was no wonder it was almost empty except for a load of people in fancy dress who I guess were off to a Christmas "Do" in your function room.

We drove up here from the south coast to sample the cafeteria and generally check out the lay of the land since I last worked at the Gardens back in the early 80s. It being a bitterly cold day, we didn't visit the gardens themselves. We made a bee line for the cafeteria which is nicely set out. The serving staff were pleasant enough but we were shocked by the prices. For our party of 5 having just some simple teas and hot drinks we left 22 quid at the pay desk! We looked at the prices and simply laughed at them charging 6 quid for a sausage roll. I don't mind paying for good, high quality things but we all thought that the prices here were ridiculous. Pity.

Llegué a tomar una copa y me pregunté si podía tomar mi cerveza, porque incluso la cabeza estaba corta de la parte superior del vaso. ¡La camarera rubia y alta acaba de responder "No, no puedes entrar más"! Señalé que era de poca medida, así que agarró el vaso, lo rellenó y golpeó el vaso en la barra como un niño petulante. Hay una falta total de habilidades sociales de varios empleados en este establecimiento, y esta persona en particular necesita crecer y mejorar, o dejar que alguien que sabe lo que está haciendo se haga cargo.

Used to be the best All Day Breakfast in Surrey. What happened - dried up bacon impossible to cut with the plastic cutlery. Raw tomato, luke warm beans and rubbery scrambled egg, all served on a cold plate. Tasteless tea served in a paper cup. Tables and floor in need of cleaning too. Not a good experience. Staff were pleasant and helpful though.

Give this one a skip. We ordered the chicken pasta x 2 and margarita pizza. The pasta had a watery spinach sauce and overcooked chicken. The pizza was borderline burnt. Also overpriced. The terrace is much better with fresh seasonal food and food portions.

Just superb. Great eating chips on the beach and just chilling. Worth going to enough the best chips on the island. Thank you

Had an afternoon tea which was a gift. The filling in the sandwiches was poor. The cream for the scones was solid. The Victoria sponges were so cold and the scones were dry and extremely hard. Very disappointed. Did complain via email but no reply

Mike was an absolute gem in welcoming us to the airport. A great atmosphere and fantastic service . All around a fantastic experience! Thanks Mike for making it a great start to our day before jetting off on our holidays!

Dropped in for breakfast with the kids expecting to have pancakes, only to find that the pancakes were not on the breakfast menu and only available on the lunch menu. I questioned why the menu states “New American style pancakes served all day until 3.30pm”. Got a complete blank. Unbelievable! Most cafes and tea shops provide pancakes as a breakfast item. The kids breakfast menu could only offer a fry-up! And since when was black pudding ever found on an under 12’s kids menu? Very disappointed and only had drinks, then moved on elsewhere for our pancakes.

Overpriced and not worth visiting. £11 for two pieces of toast and two drinks. Food takes forever to turn up also. Multiple disappointing visits. Don’t bother visiting.

Dirty , crumbs all along the window sills where there are tables . Feels grubby , messy and unloved. Probably go else where in future

Terrible desayuno vegano. Huevo frío. Lumpy avocado. No hay frijoles solo líquido. Insípido tuvo que dejarlo. No se dan platillos. Todo esto en mi cumpleaños. Nunca más. Tesco sobre la carretera da desayuno vegano apropiado y platillos debajo de las tazas.

Party of 8 for dinner, we had complimentary half board vouchers as oven stopped working. Kids meal good value £9.99 drink, startern main and pudding. Nice staff and quite quick service.

Dropped by for a coffee last week. The service was okay though the coffee was nothing to write home about. The first time I tapped my bank card the assistant said it hadn't worked, so I inserted the card and tried again. Checking my statement a few days later I found I'd been charged twice. So instead of £2.50, the coffee cost me £5.00. I've been in touch with the café several times, but had no response. I hope this isn't happening to everyone!

We went in for a cup of tea at this self-service cafe. The service was slow because a new member of staff was being trained but not properly guided or supervised. We then looked for a table. The cafe was less than a quarter full but there was not one clear table to sit at! There were no clearing staff in sight so we cleared a table for ourselves, but of course we could not wipe it down. About 10 minutes later a member of staff appeared, surveyed the tables and left without taking a single item with them. Shortly after another member of staff appeared and cleared one table (one down only forty left) and took a full tray out. Two minutes later she came back and started on the next table. Then the first member of staff came back and started remonstrating with the one clearing the table. She then went off and the table clearer took a second tray out. At this rate she was never going to clear all the tables as new ones were being created quicker that she could deal with them. A bit of common sense is required: use a trolley so that several tables can be cleared at a time.
