£85 PARKING FINE FOR EATING AT YOU RESTAURANT! NITHING OR NOBODY SAID TO ME THAT I HAD TO PUT MY REGISTRATION IN ON ENTERING TO ORDER. TRIED TO DISPUTE AS WHAT OTHER REASON WOULD WE BE THERE. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. COST OF LIVING CRISIS AND THE LIKES OF YOU FINE FOR KEEPING YOU IN BUSSINESS. NEVER EVER WOULD I RECOMEND OR VISIT HARVESTER AGAIN. MANY THANKS

Good meal, well cooked. Leah our server was excellent and added a lot to our enjoyable experience. She went out of her way to ensure that my dessert was changed to suit my personal preference. Nothing was too much trouble and she was very friendly and happy.

This Harvester has ceased trading and is currently undergoing conversion to a Miller & Carter steakhouse. It’s a very welcome upgrade, as there’s currently an Costa, Beefeater, Marriott and McDs nearby providing a range of food price points within a few feet. More information on the project timescale can be obtained from owners Mitchells and Butlers. (July 2022)

Seems strange that only seven years old and yet couldn't think to put in Air conditioning at that time, must be absolute HELL working in the Kitchen especially in the Summer. Staff always cheerful & professional, and go out of their way to help in any way they can, sorry to see so many leaving with so few staff it's a wonder they can open at all, yet with the the ever decreasing # of staff they still mange to provide a good meal which has hardly changed in the 7 years we have been regularly & loyally attending, other than the salad bar has less of a selection, baby gherkins given the heave ho so has the pickled sweet white pickled onions, no doubt next to go will be the black olives. Has an unusual selection of wildlife on view. HARVESTER THE BRAND CERTAINLY GOING DOWN HILL very quickly how much longer will it survive

We stopped at the Harvester at Didcot for lunch and had a very good meal served by Lyza. We needed a gluten free meal and Lyza made sure that every aspect of the meal was checked. She was pleasant and helpful, the food was delicious - chicken breast with jacket potato and veg. Highly recommended.

Waited quite a while on arrival for a drinks order and to order food but when the starter came out they were lovely even though the mains came out before the starters had been cleared and someone was still eating there starter so they had to clear the plates around us eating which wasn’t great! But the mains were quite nice the ribs were a bit dry but the staff brought us some sauce which made up for it! We were all very excited for the desserts and they came quite quickly but the cheesecake had mouldy raspberries on it! And the Eaton mess we had ordered had mouldy raspberries in it too! So we couldn’t eat our desserts but the staff dealt with it quite well! All in all the staff was lovely but the quality of food was appalling, how a chef wouldn’t notice the fruit was mouldy just baffles me if I’m honest, wouldn’t eat here again!

We live local to the restaurant but haven’t been for a while. We have always found it to be hit an miss before the dreaded virus arrived. Some friends went to see Father Christmas and said they enjoyed it. We booked to go at 9.00am one morning and found the restaurant to be quiet empty. We went a s a family of 5 with one 4 year old and two 18 month year olds. The COVID measures were very good and we had table service through out. The reason for the 5 stars is definitely the staff. They were fantastic through our interacting with the children. All three of them were mesmerised with Santa’s helper elf and she spent a lot of time at the table with the kids. Will definitely be going back in the future.

This Harvester is a SAFE place to dine during the pandemic, all staff wear face coverings, and are constantly sanitising their hands, and every table each time diners leave, I have even seen the menu's being sanitised. One way system in operation (pity the diners don't always adhere), although every effort is made by staff. Staff even with the extra pandemic work load are happy in their jobs, and always friendly. The meals continue to be of a high standard and cooked the way you want it, YOU ONLY NEED TO REQUEST, When dining at Harvester Milton Gate, we are always at ease knowing Covide stays outside.

My friend and I come to this restaurant every month for a meet and catch up.We had a friendly welcome and were quickly seated. Our drinks and food arrived very quickly and the food was hot and delicious.Our visit was enhanced by a lovely young girl named Lyza who was attentive,efficient and had a great sense of humour. First time visiting this Harvester and very impressed with the service we received from start to finish. Many thanks to Amber who looked after us very well. Nothing was too much trouble and she was very efficient and friendly. The whole set up from walking in and being shown to our table and having everything explained clearly re Covid restrictions really put us at our ease.We ordered our food and drink - good choice of food on the menu. The tables are well spaced out and you are escorted to the salad bar and request what you would like and Amber placed it in the bowls. We went back to our table (one way system) and our food was served - we only waited about 15 minutes from ordering and the food was delicious. She kept popping back to see we were ok and if we wanted more drinks and if everything was ok with our meal. A very enjoyable evening. Thanks to Amber.

After showing both an email and txt about my booking after 10 minutes still vouldnt find it I felt like a 2 year old being asked did I want this and that it my salad I appreciate Covid-19 but give ne my own spoon and let me serve myself! The mixed grill was tasteless, bland cold, very very dry, we sat outside and after 90 minutes the plates on the next table still hadn't been removed which caused a lit of bluebottle flues, did I complain no because I couldn't find anyone to complain to!!!!

This Harvester was well prepared with a one way system and the staff explained everything. The famous Salad Bowl is still operating but with staff getting the items for you and this worked well. Food was superb and the staff were friendly and very efficient

We arrived at 11.45 for lunch with our son but were told we were too early for the lunch menu but too late for the breakfast one? We then proceeded to sit for 15 minutes without any service (and a hungry child to entertain) to get to the “correct” time to be able to order, which I found a bit strange, and then found out they had run out of some of the sandwiches on the menu.I wasn’t impressed by the experience and won’t be coming again.

This was our first visit since coming out of lockdown. I was not sure what to expect but was more than happy with what we found. Staff were polite and informative, informed us what were not able to do for ourselves which was really good. For was out in good time and well cooked and hot. Had a chat with one of the waitresses asking how she is finding the new normal and how busy they had been. Very polite and you could see her smile through her face mask. We will definitely visit again when back in the area. Keep up the great work.

My visit got off to a bad start. On arrival there was a big puddle of water in the car park. Only after my daughter stood in it, did we realise that it was raw sewage leaking up from a drain. After cleaning her up continued inside and it was exceptionally hot in there. There appeared to be that either there was no air conditioning or that it was broken. We were greeted at the desk by a friendly and helpful member of staff, and we used the hand sanitiser provided. this smelled awful, like it was made or diluted with white vinegar, so once we had been assigned our table we went immediately to wash our hands. On sitting down we waited around 15 mins for our drinks to be ordered. Another 10 minutes later our food was ordered. The whole place was full of flies, and at any one time I could see at least two or three crawling around on the furnishings. The food was served, and was quite nice but not up to the standard I have come to expect from other Harvester restaurants. I appreciate that we are living in difficult times, but I think that the staff there who were serving did a very good job even though we were allocated a table near to others (despite many other spaces being free). It was very hot inside the restaurant and it couldn't have been very pleasant having to work there. I will visit Harvester again, just not this particular one as it seriously needs improvement.

Lisa our waitress looked after us wonderfully today explaining to us about the charges because of covid. My Friend and I felt very comfortable and totally safe. We were directed to use hand sanitizer as we came in and then we were directed to a spotlessly clean table. Lisa got us our salad and our food came really quickly and was delicious. Safety has really been taken in to account in the restaurant and the staff are great at making this known, reassuring guests.Salad is served by the waiters and waitresses for hygiene reasons, which was definitely appreciated, with you standing away from the bar, selecting your items.The menu isn’t a limited one, unlike lots of other restaurants at the moment and has plenty of options for veggies and vegans.Your typical Harvester experience with heightened hygiene precautions!

Arrived at booked time, table ready, ALL staff wearing FACECOVERINGS, which made us feel that they CARED for OUR HEALTH as much as we were being told to care for their health; and to wear face coverings.,This also made us feel at ease, we were able to enjoy our meal as much as ever, no rush no hurry, yes the new regime took a little time to get used to. My thought was GET USED TO 5 STARPLUS DINNING, with being taken to your table, and everything being brought to your table. The main difference is at the salad bar where you select the items with your server placing the items in the dish, reordering drinks & salad is the same ask your server. All in all very enjoyable experiance, staff as friendly as ever. Meals cooked just the way you want, you just have to ask, This Milton Gate Restaurant IS the place to go and we will return again & again providing the virus doesn't visit & it closes again. Plenty of opportunites to use hand sanitizers, & staff were practicing profusely hand clencing

Booked for 2 at 5pm on a Sunday the place was half empty . The food came quickly and was tasty and hot. But the salad bar was not great 3/4 trays empty looked like it could do with a goodClean. The last time I visited about 2 months ago this was the same problem. I don’t understand how you can’t keep the salad bar full / tidy it’s a basic thing to keep on top of.

I treated my son to a meal there on the way home from somewhere up north. Conveniently situated near the A34 junction and with ample parking it seemed a good idea. We both ordered the fillet steak and that was tender and nicely flavoured. The salad bar had run out of most items and I had decided to make do but then I saw the cook come out and replenish it so went up for a second helping. The service was good. So, while not special it was all perfecly adequate and sensibly priced.

Popped in here for a meal-for-one. Waited nearly 10 mins at the greeting Dias, was finally greeted by a harassed waitress who guided me to a table. I picked up the menu and decided on an unlimited soda but waitress was nowhere to be found. I did some work on my iPad but 10 mins later still no waitress so I went and found her and asked for a refillable coke, which is in other words an empty glass which I then fill at the coke machine. I then returned to my table and got back to work on my iPad but 10 mins later still no glass. Now if been here 30 mins and all I’d asked for was an empty glass! So I again sought out my server and asked if I could just get it myself. She irritably replied she’d been serving other tables and so I told her to return to them as obtaining my empty glass was clearly far too much trouble. To be honest I had some sympathy with her, although not really busy the only servers I observed was her and one other waitress (there wasn’t even anyone manning the bar) which was not nearly enough for that Valentines Day Friday afternoon. I instead crossed the road to the better staffed Beefeater Restaurant where I had a drink in my hand within 5 minutes of arrival...

When we arrived there was a small five minute wait for a table so we’re escorted to the bar. The bar area was clean looking apart from various tables being covered in glasses and plates. Being in the hospitality industry I cleared our table and made it look presentable.When we were later escorted through (table by the door) one of my family said they were cold and I got cold later so put my jacket back on - the addition of pots with cutlery was a good idea ( only if they were full which ours wasn’t) to make waiters lives easier. To our disappointment Doombar had been taken of the drinks menu but the second one was still good - as recommend by the host ( a lady with black hair in a high ponytail with a black top and plead grey trousers. We had the set menu which worked out cheaper for us and we were heavily pleased with our food and service by staff member Casey. The salad bar was good and filled unlike the bread and it’s a shame the old packets of butter aren’t there and this new sunflower ones are as they aren’t as nice.Overall really good experience and hope to return again :)

Great lunch and the best service I’ve had since being here. We opted for the lunch special. Had nachos to start followed by a burger and finished off with a coffee. Honestly the pudding would have been a step too far i was really full! Nachos were great but simple and the salsa, guac etc fresh. The burger was great! Nice portion and cooked to my liking, the chunky fries were awesome too. But the best part of the visit was Lisa our waitress. Excellent service and really friendly. Best service I’ve had since I moved here 6 months ago! Always smiling and on top of her game! If you go ask for her, she’ll make your visit better! Enjoy!

Booked table in advance for 17.15 hrs. was ready & waiting for our arrival, shown quickly to our table with with warm greetings and friendly smles & greetings. The drinks order arrived quickly. The Salad deck was full of goodies, & of note always one or two choices being changed on a regular basis; glad the Olives, & silverskins are not part o that change. The Salad deck always kept clean. Service from 'Farah' always comes with a friendly smile with nothing too much trouble, as long as you ask for crisp you get crisp, you just need to ask. Congratulations go to Nikki & Charlotte who have maintained & improved standards at Milton Gate over the last few years.

We dined here twice over New Year, preferring the Harvester menu to the Marriott menu. On the first night we were served by Kristine who was very friendly and efficient. The restaurant was quite busy and we waited a long time for our main courses, but were able to enjoy the salad bar which had a good selection of fresh foods. Unfortunately, my main course was barely warm, but Kristine replaced it with a hot version, plus we had a 20% discount because of the inconvenience. On our second evening, we were served by Roli who was also delightful with a sense of humour. There is something for everyone on the menu and we enjoyed our chicken and vegetarian dishes. The salad bar was even better than the previous evening and I was impressed by the range of salad dressings and oils. The restaurant was clean with a welcoming ambience. I didn’t visit the toilet so cannot comment on that. We would dine here in the future if we visit the area again.

As someone that lives in Didcot we loved the idea of a Harvester being so close to home but nonetheless we were disappointed. Upon arrival the lady was very helpful and showed us to the table. We sat down and ordered 2 refillable drinks (as you do in a Harvester!) and asked if we would be able to use the 2 burgers for £10 deal on UNiDAYS. The waitress said we could not use it as it was still technically the Christmas period even though I could redeem the code from my UNiDAYS account, she said it was a fault on their tills so they could not honour the discount. Failing to offer any resolution I went to use the bathroom which was dirty; it had no toilet roll, there was toilet roll on the floor and urine on the seats. The hand-dryer also didn’t work. When I arrived back to the table my boyfriend had said he noticed someone working who he recognised had gone into the kitchen and got another member of staff we both know to look over and made it seem as though they were talking about us. Irate we waited 5 more minutes before deciding we would take ourselves to the Applecart Beefeater over the road (which was MUCH better by the way). It was at this point when we were walking out the door that our empty glasses had arrived ready for us to go and get a drink. I politely told the waitress to leave it and we left. We are thoroughly disappointed with the service we received, other than our waitress the other members of staff made us feel very unwelcome and ruined the whole experience. The whole building is run by young people that do not have any customer service skills. If you are looking for a reliable meal do exactly what we did and pop over to the beefeater to get great food for cheap prices, don’t waste your time in the harvester.

Not signed posted very well, staff not forth coming to let you know that you need to registered you car reg on the pad in the resturant , staters took nearly one hour to come and this then meant the rest of the meal late, time we got 20 pensioners loaded back onto the minibus, it would have been over the allocated time anyway.

Revolting! I should of really looked at the reviews prior to visit. I also felt Sick later on that night and I had nothing else. Place smells and is dirty. Will never return if you payed me to go there !

We were staying at The Marriott Courtyard next door and decided to use the Harvester for our evening meal, thinking it would be much cheaper! We were greeted at the door by a friendly young man who checked that we hadn’t parked our car there, as I see from previous comments, that has been a problem with fines. He showed us to a nice table in the window beside a radiator....it was very cold out! Our server came and introduced herself and all the way through, she was friendly and attentive, we think she was called Casey. We helped ourselves to the “free” salad bar , which to be honest wasn’t much. Some of the bowls were empty , but still some people managed to take a huge bowl full.....piled high! Our main courses came just as we had finished the salad and the Sea Bass and Chicken stack were excellent. We had changed the chips/mash that came with them in the main menu for sweet potato fries (we would have preferred skinny fries but they weren’t on the menu), but we weren’t made aware that these would be at an extra cost, until the bill arrived! So our cheap meal actually cost a similar amount to the one that we could have had at the hotel!

We visited Harvester Didcot on Saturday Nov 9th evening as we were passing on route to Bournemouth from Birmingham with friends. We didn’t know the area and needed a stop to eat as the weather was torrential rain and wind. We found both the Harvester & Beefeater from our route planner off the A34 so chose to pull off into the Harvester as we’ve eaten as many other restaurants before. As we didn’t know the area at all we found the car park as it was dark, parked up and ran in as it was pouring with rain. We ordered and ate our meals, mains only as paid and left in under 1hr as still had quite a distance to drive. However we were shocked to receive a parking notice TODAY for £85!!!!!. We weren’t aware of the parking notices as didn’t think to look given it was a restaurant and that we’d never been there before. Also I’m sure the member of staff who greeted us at the door and mentioned how horrible it was outside surely could simply ask have you paid to park? Takes seconds just to ask, especially when it’s dark and you must get more none local customers stop at this restaurant. Really disappointed that we’ve used Harvesters in many locations and never had to pay so you don’t expect it with a chain. If we’d know of course we would have paid, who wouldn’t and if it had been daytime we possibly would have seen them. Very disappointing overall .

Hubbie and I stopped on our way home around 1.30pm yesterday (Sunday) lunchtime. We were quickly seated after registering the car number plate and ordered our drinks. He chose the 1/2 chicken roast from the Sunday specials menu and I chose the Classic Combo (Ribs & 1/4 chicken) but had sweet potato fries instead. The salad bar was well stocked and fresh looking and our meals arrived in a timely manner, hot (there was a large group of about 8 near us so we had expected a bit of a wait). Our meals were good portion sizes and tasty - the only downside was there were no stuffing balls available to go with the Sunday roast!!

Food was okayish but what completley ruined everything was the chef blaring dubstep from his phone in an open kitchen for us to hear. Just why. I've worked in open kitchens and you know that's not a done thing. No staff seemed to care acting as if it were normal and if that's true the chef should take a step back and think about whether the trades for him

We visited the restaurant on a Friday evening October with our 6 year old child. Firstly the drinks machine failed so we were unable to give our child squash. It was either water or fizzy drinks! Then we went to the salad bar which was disgusting, food mixed with other food in the trays, various food spilt all over the surfaces. Then the staff were rude and looked depressed to work there, the food was garbage quality so we agreed amongst ourselves that instead of causing a scene and complaining, we’d pay the bill and agree never to go back. Then to top all this off we receive a parking fine for parking in their car park. I rang the restaurant and their reply was “didn’t you read any of the 19 signs?” The truth is we didn’t, we read the initial line to say to protect against unauthorised parking and understandably presumed that as we were legitimate diners, this didn’t apply to us. We also said to ourselves that if it did apply to us, they’d notify us in the restaurant as they take us to our seat, we waited to be seated and the young girl didn’t mention parking so we felt comfortable we were ok. Unbeknown to us there was a tablet somewhere near the entrance which we needed to complete! I’ve read other similar reviews to mine which have had the same problem so my question is why aren’t the staff talking to their customers? Many are falling foul of this fine so there’s clearly a problem. Finally, when I complained to the restaurant and got this very rude response I said I’d never return, the ladies response was “ok, that’s fine, bye now”. Shocking!

A group of 14 family member's met up this morning for breakfast at this Harvester. I hadn't been here before so not sure what to expect. The service was very good and the young waitress was very patient with the many different orders. Food didn't take very long to arrive and although was not very hot, it was warm enough. Every member of our group enjoyed the food and there was hardly anything left. The same young waitress, came to check everything was ok, and plates were cleared away quickly. I would certainly recommend this harvester for the breakfast's.

Stopped off for dinner at 4:30pm on a weekday with my 2 year old after a long drive. It wasn’t busy but after waiting ages by the ‘wait here to be seated’ sign I decided to go and find a staff member to ask if we could just find our own table instead. The girl I spoke to made a comment about being the only one on the floor but that she had seen us. Once seated someone took our drinks order but quickly forgot what I asked for came back to the table to clarify. The food was nice when it arrived I was just disappointed with the service.

Visited as a large group last night. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The food came out fairly quickly and all of the orders were correct. The halloumi tasted of fish though which was off putting!! On the whole it was ok.

I was hungry, local and didn’t feel like driving. I’d already been a bit let down by the Beefeater over the road but had read some none too complimentary reviews about the Harvester so was a bit worried to start with. The welcome was fine and a table was available. Service was friendly although the first drink took ages to arrive. The main meal was fine (a mixed grill and plenty of it) - not particularly memorable but hot and freshly cooked. The salad bar though was a disappointment - it may have been a little late in the evening but it was very tired.

After waiting 10 minutes to be seated, we were served by a young woman who clearly didn’t want to be there. Huffing and puffing around moaning about customers while walking past tables. We waiting 20 minutes to order and when it came out it was completely inedible chicken was so burnt you could bang it on the table rice that had a hard top. When questioning the ‘supervisor’ no manager was present she said it had got too busy too fast and the staff where not able to keep up. They had a new chef who was training and we was unsupervised so couldn’t complete the orders in time. Not what you expect from a chain restaurant

We are two senior citizens and we enjoy our weekly visits to this restaurant. Meals good value,staff are friendly,clean and I can park on the disabled bay right by the entrance. Sadly, we have ended up like other customers who have posted that we received a fine of £85 from Harvesters agents. I entered all my car registration details in the tablet in the restaurant. We just can't afford this....the £85pushes up the cost of our meals greatly. Sadly will not be going back there anymore.

i visited the harvester in didcot on Wednesday and was seated quite quickly and then got served by a lovely young lady named alex. She gave us a lovely service and as far as we could tell from watching she served her other tables with just as much effort. Amazing attitude and smile, made our experience that much better.

Booked a table for 4, got there 5 mins early & were shown to our table only to be told actually we will have to put you somewhere else. Waited while they laid out another table then waitress left us without even giving a menu but she said you'll have to order quickly as they stop cooking in 15 minutes. She eventually came back to take our order so we headed over to the salad bar, it didn't look appetizing at all & there wasn't any white rolls left either. After about 10 mins 2 of our meals arrived, so we waited & waited for the other 2 to be bought over but nope they had messed up the order in the kitchen so by the time they did eventually arrive the others had finished their meals! The food wasn't worth the wait & the chicken was very dry. Before the late orders had been eaten the waitress came over to take the first 2 empty plates away as they wanted to clear up! The restaurant was not busy at all but the chairs & tables grubby, floor had food dropped all over it & the whole place was very unwelcoming. We got the price of a portion of chips taken off the bill but that really didn't mean a thing. Would like to know why if the kitchen stopped cooking at 9pm you could still book a table online till after 9.30pm? Will never set foot in here again.

In this day an age having a restaurant with more 1 star reviews than 5 star usually means the end of the road for that restaurant. But this is a chain part of Mitchell and butler’s portfolio and they would be aghast to hear about this place.

Waited to be seated for a long time just to watch the staff chatting around the bar area. Should of known better, wish we left after waiting that long. Salad bar was dirty and messy and half empty. Food was cold , didn’t bother complaining as didn’t have our sleeping bags with us, considering the slow service throughout. Never again!

The food is pretty good here although the salad bar looked a bit ropey... dry cucumber and carrot and no labels on the salad dressing so it was a bit of a lucky dip. Chicken and ribs were both nice. Chips are very chunky and the corn on the cob tasted over cooked.

A typical Harvester with a large menu (including a surprising number of vegan-friendly options), decent prices & unlimited salad bar. The interior is nice & modern & the staff were friendly, but the service was on the slow side during our visit, as they over-ran breakfast & were late getting ready for lunchtime bookings. Thankfully we had the salad bar to tide us over, but it quickly got messy/untidy & low on items, which seemed to take a while to be replenished. Our main meals (peri-peri tofu skewers / gammon steak) were tasty & served in generous portions , it's just a shame they took so long to arrive...! Not sure I'd visit again.

We ate here when we stayed at the Marriot and wish we had tried the restaurant in our hotel. The service was good but food was average. One of our party had the pasta which was quite spicy, i had half roast chicken which was quite nice but overall I wouldn't rush back

But the title says it all From the moment we announced our arrival until we left we had 5 star service, remember also that this was Fathers Day, with the restaurant being busy from the start of the day. Our server Farah although fairly new done an excellent job, as did Charlotte & Nikki.

We went Last night for dinner waited at least 15mins for someone to take our order. When we'd finished our food it took ages for anyone to come and clear plates away and had to ask for the bill after 20mins. One waitress wasn't that friendly and was rude. Very overpriced for what it is.

First time to this Harvester, half the restaurant was taped off due to a leak. Entered details on tablet for parking and shown to a table that was very sticky. Asked for 4 refill glasses, even though not that busy we waited 5 minutes and still hadn't been given drink glasses. Got up and left,no-one noticed. Went to Nando's instead and kids loved it.Won't be back....

It is such a shame that this brilliant chef is supported by a team of people who have absolutely no idea what is going on. This was our fourth trip back. Each time we have been here since the refurbishment, the quality and flavour of the food has been amazing but each time, we have had terrible service. This was the last chance and I'm afraid we won't be going back. We put in our order for food and drink which just disappeared off the face of the earth. Our lunch wine was served before the pre–lunch drinks, had to keep looking at the staff for any sign of food to which they panicked on the realisation that we were STILL there with no meal. One of the young male waiters, who actually was on the ball, couldn't apologise enough and genuinely looked very embarrassed at the whole shambles. Credit to him, credit to chef but the rest of you, sort yourselves out! It's just not good enough.

We took friends out for lunch on our first visit and although the pub was clean the food was very very disappointing for the price. Will not be going back!

Our preferred city centre coffee shop, obviously it's a chain so not a million miles from other Costa cafes, however the staff at the didcot one are particularly excellent, friendly and chatty even when it's busy.
