I sat in the upstairs cafe to do work and ordered a large cinnamon bun latte. The price was really good (£3.60), the service was quick and very friendly and the drink was lovely. The cafe was constantly being cleaned and it was a lovely environment to work in :)

I feel compelled to leave a review as I feel that the treatment of staff at Hedge End might be a problem. I am a regular visitor and appreciate how busy and pressured the cafe environment can be, but we were served yesterday (Saturday)by a lovely red headed lad who could not do more for us and was polite and friendly. He was spoken to by an older manager (name Lynn I think) in a not very nice way. She kept questioning everything he did and tried to suggest he did not serve us as we were the last customers of the day. I felt she was unnecessarily rude to him and we felt that she was also judging us. This member of staff needs talking to- if hard workers are treated this way just because they are young, when they try their very best, I can’t imagine it is a very happy place to work. Happy staff means happy customers.

I went to the upstairs cafe at M&S. Hedge End yesterday afternoon with my adult son. The cafe was not busy but we still waited for someone to bother to serve us. The cafe was not clean, the many empty tables were littered with dirty plates & crockery & we struggled to find somewhere clean to sit. The floor under the tables was filthy, covered with discarded food. There was no brown sugar or sweeteners &Apparantly had been none for about 2 weeks according to one member of staff. My sons cappuccino was only 1/2 full & when I asked for the cup to be filled he ended up with a cup of hot milk! Not a pleasant experience. I will not be visiting the M&S cafe at Hedge End again.

I attended today with my daughter who for personal reasons struggles to eat out without planning ahead. She picked an item but I misheard and ordered else. When it arrived and wasn't what she was expecting she became upset. I explained this to Kat who discreetly discussed this with Sam in the kitchen. My mistake was quickly rectified without any fuss and lots of discretion. Thank you to both. No one can ever know the story behind those eating in the cafe and I can't thank them enough for their understanding.

I’m a huge fan of Mark’s and spencer cafe tea and cakes. They’re always amazing. One thing irks be though. If you simply buy a hot drink, you get a mini shortbread on the side. If you buy a cake with your coffee you get nothing. There isn’t even a coffee and cake deal to justify why this might be so. Marks and Spencer’s rewards those who pay less. This could be the problem with the business model.

I would rather travel 5 mins in the car into Hedge End town and visit a cafe there. Basically £8 for a breakfast and you get 1 sausage, bacon, toast, egg, tomato and mushrooms. I prefer sausage to bacon and asked if I could swap my bacon for an extra sausage which turn med out to be very hard work. They did it in the end but very reluctant. Don’t know if this was a cafe policy not to swap or the employee was just being hard work. The location was ideal as we were out shopping but next time think I will travel 5 mins to get a better breakfast with better staff.

When you think of M&S; Food and their cafes you would imagine, excellent food, good service and above all cleanliness. Not correct and when I complained to their head office - I was fobbed off. I should also add that I tried to complain in store but no one was available. The floor and chairs were filthy as were the table surfaces. The tables hadn't been cleared in a very long time which was borne out by the fact that customers purchasing food were wandering around looking for empty trays, and there was very little cutlery available to customers eating. In addition to this any available space in the cafe was stacked with trays of dirty plates, cups and cutlery etc. I've eaten in better conditions in a local "greasy spoon" cafe and paid a lot less for better quality food. My visit to Marks and Spencer Hedge End cafe can be summed up in very few words - "DON'T BOTHER TO WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!!!"

Despite all the adverse comments on Trip Advisor, we decided to risk going to the upstairs M&S; cafe at Hedge End. We should have taken notice of the reviews. Despite being the first customers for the hot breakfast, it was obvious that almost nothing on the cold plate was freshly cooked. The bacon was hard and almost inedible, the sausage was wrinkled and hard and the poached eggs had obviously been cooked sometime earlier as they were cold on the inside. When we ordered, the girl on the till asked if we would like any baked beans. My husband said yes and we were amazed to be charged £1 for a spoonful of baked beans. The toast, whilst only being cooked on one side was as hard as a rock. Needless to say, we will not be returning.

My friend and I ordered the chorizo salad, however despite paying for the items and sitting down with our bleeper tag waiting to be served we were approached by an apologetic waitress who informed us that they had run out of the items we had ordered. I fail to understand how m&s order inventory systems cannot account for this at the till. Reluctantly we had to choose other items on the menu, my friends was an extra pound but we weren't asked to pay the difference thankfully. The food when it came was very nice but the salad was a bit underwhelming in portion size. Fish and chips were good. We weren't impressed with the elderflower drink which said no added sugar but what we didn't notice until we started drinking them was the sweetener that had been added, this was revolting and was far too sweet and left disgusting after taste in the mouth. Overall I've had a lot better visits to m&s cafe, so I've had to be said and give an average score purely dragged down by today's visit. Otherwise a 4.

There used to be a very nice waitress service restaurant here, with excellent prices and lunchtime specials. Now there are 2 similar cafes which serve coffee and cakes, and a few simple meals and snacks. I made the mistake of ordering fish and chips with mushy peas. The fish was overcooked in a dry breadcrumb coating. The chips were also dry and tasteless, with a few being overcooked and rock hard. At £8 it was cheaper than a gastropub fish and chips, but the quality was dire. My partner had a Cumberland sausage bap. The sausage was fine but the bap did not taste fresh. The lattes were very nice and of good size. The baked potatoes and cakes looked good on other people's plates. Clearly we made bad choices but this cafe is definitely substandard and does not fit in with M and S's upmarket image.

Average is all you can say for this. The person at the till spoke quietly and quickly so my hard-of-hearing dad could not understand his questions. On the plus side, the drinks were ready by the time we had finished at the till - very efficient. The food was ordered and we took an electrical device to the table so that we could be found when the food was ready. I collected cutlery, sauces and napkins and fresh water whilst we waited. When the food arrived the waitress did have cutlery and napkins on the tray, if we hadn't already got them. The food arrived quite promptly - the upstairs cafe was 90% capacity, so that was pleasing - they were efficient in the kitchen too.The real downside was how tightly packed in the chairs and tables were. I know it's a cafe, and they get really busy, but I had to get up to let someone out from their corner table.Otherwise, the food was acceptable, and it was generally clean in the cafe. There are ample washroom facilities and it's not designed to be a leisurely affair, just an "eat as you shop" facility. Better than nothing if you're hungry or thirsty, but nothing to particularly tempt me back.

Went to Sainsburys Hedge End shopping yet again on Saturday. Popped into the next door M&S with my wife around 1215 for a warming coffee prior to hitting the chilly Sainsbury's refrigerator aisles. M&S Hedge End has two cafes, one upstairs and one down. Went upstairs first, large queues and no displayed food (broken refrigerators) so we moved downstairs. Slightly smaller queues here, with food in the fridges, but a sad lacking of sliced cake, scones, croissants and the like. Settled on a croc-mesuire, whilst my wife eventually obtained a cheese scone from the back store. Waited for what seemed forever for our coffee and looked for a clean table. Not much luck there! Sat down and took a sip of my drink only to find that my coffee wouldn't be around long enough to see out the delivery of my Croc'. This was, by my standards tepid. My wife of course was fine with her cold scone. Sad to say that my Croc' finally arrived just as I took my last sip of coffee. That too was tepid and chewy having been sat "on the pass" in a similar long queue for food delivery. So, I guess the moral of the story: to make sure that you arrive either side of lunch and make sure to ask for your coffee 'extra hot', or 'burning' even. That way, M&S may actually have the correct number of staff to cater for those leaner times rather than that of the lunchtime rush, and I may well have stayed warm around Sainsbury's. Disappointing, but this is not the first time. As I say, Why do I bother?

I try to have lunch there any chance I get. Not too many options but the food is lovely. Love the zucchini spaguetti bolognese! Kid's friendly but last time they were short on high-chairs and we struggled a bit with our 2 yo... But would definitely go again

Stopped in the upstairs cafe for coffee and a pastry one Sunday morning, got a table overlooking the food hall entrance, very good for people watching! The coffee was good and the pastry was tasty.

Went to the cafe for lunch. I had originally planned ongoing to Sainsbury's cafe but then saw the M&S cafe as going through the store so thought I would try that instead as it should be better. I was really disappointed on the size when it arrived. If you look at the photo you can see the sauce sachet which gives a good indication of the fish size. Then there was only about 10 chips. I want very tempted to take it back and say I had ordered an adult meal not a child's but unfortunately was in a hurry.

I have just posted a review, which i, foolishly, did not review before posting :) Derrr! I want to change it slightly in that i have remembered the name of the other lad - it is not Alex, it is Will! Both Jack and Will were so courteous, and helpful.

Having used similar cafe's in other branches I was pleased to see a cafe, but it wasn't as expected, the food on offer was good but the queue to pay was long and slow, the tables were dirty and the lack of staff was very evident, I felt let down to what I was expecting.

The place is dirty, long queues, poor service, limited choice, disorganized staff, tables not cleared. And to top it all, the toilets are a disgrace.

Men aren't known for their awareness of dirt & my partner is no exception to the rule. Sat drinking our coffees he announced "how dirty is this place!" and he was right. Coffee was poor too, more frothy than coffee and slowly served. I'd expect a higher standard from m&s but this place seems like an afterthought.

There are two cafes at this branch. They seem to serve the same food but the upstairs one is quieter and the service quicker. Both and bustling/noisy depending on your point of view! Usually very clean. Perfectly nice sandwiches and hot snacks with lots of cake choices. Hot food is delivered quickly to your table. I had a nice sausage and cheese Toastie which was tasty and served by a friendly and helpful staff member.Lots of staff around when I visited, tables cleared promptly after use. It's not gourmet but it does quick stop shop cafe well. Free and reliable wifi.

If you are like me , i am not the best shopper, but someone needs to carry the bags. But a nice reward was tea and cake at Marks and Spencers Hedge End. The staff was nice and helpful. Might go shopping again.

Called in for lunch over the Bank Holiday weekend. The cafe was packed and tables were at a premium. The wait staff had a job keeping up with clearing the tables as they became free. There were three of us and we all had jacket potatoes with fillings and a drink. You order your food then take a GPS token thing which you leave on the table and they bring your food to you when it's ready. This worked pretty well and we didnt have to wait too long. The jacket potatoes were hot and there was adequate filling and they were served with side salad, baby cherry tomatoes and cucumber. If you enjoyed your food you could buy it downstairs in the food hall.

Not bad but not special in comparison to the reputation that M&S have built up over the years for the quality & presentation / style of their food. Not necessarily good value for money throughout the menu choices but again if you are enjoying the shopping there are few alternatives

Staying just outside Hedge End for a break for a week. Picked up a friend from Station and dropped into Marks for a light lunch, food was served quickly even though it was busy, and was hot and tasty. staff were friendly and helpful. Returned a couple of days later for a coffee and cake both nice. Enjoyed watching over the balcony the lady prepare strawberry tasters in the food hall below. Had to go down for a taster of Eton Mess.

The recently overhauled cafe downstairs at M&S Hedge End is spacious and pleasant. The food and drinks are what you would expect from M&S and the staff were very friendly and helpful- one server volunteered to bring our cups over to our table as our tray was full with teapots and cakes. The carrot cake was very good, by the way. Having this cafe makes the dread prospect of shopping at Hedge End a bit more bearable!

I grabbed a take out coffee from the M&S cafe. The coffee was good, the prices were average, the service was quick and you get a small biscuit included in the price. What more could you want

Eaten here twice now as no other options available. First time was in May 2022 and we were offered pizzas as there was no other food. We paid £15 each and watched the 'chef' open frozen Chicago town pizzas! We could not believe our eyes. Ate here last week as well as we were unable to find anywhere outside of the airport to eat and this time all that was on offer was sausage rolls and macaroni cheese at £15 for what I would consider to be a portion suitable for a 5 year old!

I've used Istanbul Grill for years, but today was my last visit. The standards have really declined. The last four or five deliveries we've received have been cold to the point that we've had to microwave them to heat them up. The pita is rock hard and inedible, and the meat looks anemic. The prices have skyrocketed, which would be acceptable if we were getting what we paid for. I'm very disappointed as customer.

I've used Goodies for a number of years now. Decided to get myself pie and chips. The pie was dreadful, just liquid and hardly any meat. Will not be recommending them in the future.

Met up here with my cousins as it was equidistant for us all. It's a lovely location and choice of vegetarian food is good. Staff are friendly and service is good. Had a very pleasant lunch.

Been to this Toby Carvery twice and had the same experience both times. Very poor. 2 main reasons they are the worst of this chain I have ever visited. Firstly, they clearly run on a skeleton staff to save pennies, but lose pounds as a result. They have 1 (very slow) person serving the meat. This led to a 40 minute queue on the last visit. A week day. Wasn’t even a Sunday. Meaning tables were occupied for longer and them having to turn people away. 40 minutes queuing is unacceptable. Secondly, because of the wait the food goes stale. They also seem to offer less than their usual offering. Take my advice, go to a different Toby or somewhere local offering a good roast. One redeeming factor was the waiting staff were nice.
