Dropped by for a coffee last week. The service was okay though the coffee was nothing to write home about. The first time I tapped my bank card the assistant said it hadn't worked, so I inserted the card and tried again. Checking my statement a few days later I found I'd been charged twice. So instead of £2.50, the coffee cost me £5.00. I've been in touch with the café several times, but had no response. I hope this isn't happening to everyone!

Not what it was. Having initially found this place 2 years ago when I thought it was excellent. The tables were cleaned the moment someone left. The food was excellent. The coffee tasted really good. Now it’s just average. Cheaper basic ingredients being used. Basic white bread and fatty bacon. Combined with wholesalers jacks brand brown sauce. Coffee tastes like it’s instant gold blend. No excuse not to have ground coffee in a coffee shop. Tables on the pavement dirty and could do with replacing. Needs better quality products.

It was nice to see Midhurst open so decided to have a coffee at Verdi. Table was not cleared but that seems to be more common nowadays. Have just got back on a lovely three day trip from Scotland, great people, fantastic food, Here's the rub tried to pay with a Scottish £5.00 note Royal Bank of Scotland which we all know is legal UK currency. Was advised the owner does not take Uk/Scottish Currency.

I came with my daughter at 9:45 am it took 40 mins and I had to remind them about my eggs on toast which is only a 5 min dish to make. Extreme lack of any control. Feel sorry for the young staff left to run the place. The toilet was absolutely shocking, there was thick dust/cobwebs and wait for it pubic hairs all over the actual toilet seat which had obviously been left for a long time considering the time of day we visited, there was also medical caps all over the floor and looked like it had not been swept/mopped or even cleaned for at least a week. Very dated and I really struggle to come to terms with how they could forget eggs on toast when the place was almost empty. I don’t want to swear or be rude but I’d rather eat grass at the castle….enjoy

Popped in for a coffee, diet Coke and sandwich. The sandwiches we had were pretty average and I had a cappuccino with it which was very good and enjoyable. However, the place needs a good clean as it is pretty filthy! The waitress, when she brought the food didn't think about cleaning the table as it was covered in crumbs, we did that! There was a dirty old piece of cardboard on the floor and coffee stains on the walls and skirting boards. A couple left shortly after we arrived on a neighbouring table, it took the staff a good 15 mins to clear it and that was because someone sat down at the table. On the table were half used bottles of ketchup etc, is that really necessary....looks a mess. I came here several years ago and enjoyed what we had, but not this time! Looking at the state of the restaurant what are the kitchens like. The website is well out of date, still talking about Covid. We won't be back.

Stopped off for coffee and cake. Not a lot of choice but what we were given was fine. Service was quick and efficient and the seating area in the back was pleasant enough. A little disappointed about the 'No stealing toilet roll's sign on the lavatory door as this had been the main purpose of our visit. Joking apart it provided entertainment as patrons came and went and you wondered if they were the offender. Some dodgy looking people in Midhurst.

On our way back from Devon to Eastbourne and desperately in need of a cup of tea and a bite to eat. We were asked ‘you’re not coming for lunch are you?’ which I took to mean we’d be unlucky anyway. We would have liked a cheese roll or something like that. No, they had nothing like that just a selection of cakes and some scones. (This was 1250, so lunchtime). We ordered a scone each and two teas. There were only 3 other people in the cafe sitting down at the time, and one of these was a member of staff. The fruit scone was tough but the cheese scone was a lot better. The worst thing was the lack of any cheerfulness from the lady who served us and we also (as someone else said) noticed pthe rather rude message to customers on the toilet door about not stealing the loo paper etc. Not a welcoming place and it was obvious why it was empty at that time of the day.

We have visited the cafe a number of times over the past few years when popping out for a Sunday drive and a cooked brekkie. It has been good in the past, if basic surroundings popular with bikers, cyclists and walkers, but gradually been less enjoyable on recent visits since December. Tables and menus have been getting stickier and the quality not so good and today’s service was so disappointing we will not be returning. Arrived just before 12, about to order a big Super Stack brekkie, hubby let a lady go in front as her coffees were cold. Ordered Super Stacks at 12 only for the chef to call out “No more Super Stacks” as it was now 12... So he asked if we could have an All Day Breakfast (seems bizarre that hash browns and mushrooms would be a problem as the only addition to the All Day Breakfast!) instead but perhaps with a few mushrooms on one which we would happily pay extra for as we travel 40 miles to get there when we visit... Waitress said it was unlikely but she would try. Breakfast came...no mushrooms despite missing 12pm due to being gentlemanly to the lady needing her coffees reheating, it was average quality bacon, solid poached eggs, frozen sausages with bony bits and the clincher was a hair on the toast and after finding another one in my beans I gave up eating altogether. Not worth the drive any more - could understand if the menu changed from 12 but they still sell the Breakfast just without mushrooms and hash browns! And as for the poor hygiene, this needs addressing. We won’t be back again, will try one of the others on the high street.

The staff were friendly and orders are taken at the till not at the table. I've tried to be constructive in my review and have marked down to 3 stars due to the lack of attention to detail. The tables need to be cleaned better and ideally need replacing as they are quite tatty. The floor was also sticky but I appreciate that is harder to keep clean when customers are present. It's a shame because it could have so much more potential with some sprucing up. Food was okay but not fantastic. Prawns were the smallest I've ever seen and looked more like shrimps!

My husband and I visited this café with our two children. We were just looking for a couple of coffees, mini hot chocolates and a little sweet treat for our girls. So nothing complicated. The counter where they display all the cakes and pastries was filthy. We should have really walked straight out then - but I felt that was rude and didn't. In hindsight it's far ruder that they open a disgusting unhygienic café everyday. So we ordered and found a table, as soon as we sat down we noticed that the whole café was unclean. The coffee table was sticky, the floor around the coffee table was sticky and the chairs were sticky. I'm not sure if this place has EVER been cleaned. Our pastries and drinks arrived quickly, my girls asked for teaspoon each to eat their marshmallows with. On the table in a foul jam jar were three teaspoons that were dirty and used - just the thing you want to give your child to eat her marshmallows with. The pastries were old and dry.I will never return to this café, I can't believe places like this manage to stay open. Two of us had jacket potatoes which were solid and undercooked and the beans were tepid. I told the lad why I had left it and he apologized and disappeared. A girl later poked her head round the corner and then the lad came back and said he would take my plate and get me another. By this time the others had all finished and we had to leave, which I told him. I had already paid so that was that, we left and there was no further mention of the food and no apology from any senior member of staff, we didn't even see any other member of staff. The place needs a good clean, the floors are dirty, the toilet floor and door are filthy and the cushioned seats have rips and have dried food on them. The place is reasonably priced and the food used to be good but it needs a good shake up and some enthusiastic staff. As I say we go there regularly but I think we may start going somewhere else unless it picks up and is cleaned up.

Went in for a couple of takeaway sandwiches which normally isn't a problem but when I asked for a cucumber sandwich I ended up with some cucumber and some bread on a bag as per the photo.

Came for lunch with a friend visiting from America. I ordered the super stack (with extra bacon and super super crispy) and she ordered poached eggs with a side of crispy bacon, and two iced coffees. Coffee took almost half an hour to get to us. Really tasty coffee but definitely not worth the wait. My bacon was very undercooked, no attempt to make it crispy had been made whatsoever. It was also missing the extra bacon I had paid for. I was also missing the mushrooms, to then be told they had ran out, but I wasn't allowed another sausage I would have to pay extra. When the bacon came back it was almost burnt, (probably a F u from the chef, but jokes on him I like it that way) My friends meal was just awful. She was basically given hard boiled eggs on sloppy toast with a side of half grilled bacon. Also. It took a good 40/45 mins to get to us when the restaurant was not busy. I've worked in hospo for 10 years now, and if a chef can't handle a quiet lunchtime order, he probably shouldn't be a chef. Oh! Also, hearing the chef shout loudly at the staff because he hadn't been given a drink yet created a lovely atmosphere...I felt sorry for the wait staff, they were very apologetic for the mistakes and I know it wasn't their fault. So props to them for having to deal with him on a daily basis!!

Popped in o the our way through Midhurst on the A272. Tables outside at the back are a real sun trap and much quiter than the seating outside at the front (Midhurst being on the popular A272 motorbike route). Mind you moving the wobbly table for one tucked away in the corner and not being used was beyond the initiative of the young person serving in this garden area. Still another customer helped. The tuna melt panini and the strawberry milkshake were excellent. All round I would highly recommend this cafe. The staff are just a little young and inexperienced but they make up for this with enthusiasm and politeness.

Visit very often and since new management have always been very pleased. Today however was let down as the place needed a good clean, food order was wrong twice and we had to ask for cutlery 3 times. Very unfortunate as usually love it here

I asked for 2 sausages and 2 rashers of bacon, and I was told we can't do that breakfast is finished!! So I said "you're doing sausage sandwiches and bacon rolls.....", but if we did it for then everyone would want to choose their own. I said surely that was good for business but I just got a patronising smile. So I had a sausage sandwich which was very nice- although it had a large salad with it which wasn't on the menu and which I didn't want, so I left it!Good food but a crazy way to run a business - don't give customers what they want and give them something they don't!!!

Can't believe the review disrespectful, we were there when the person was oiling the tables out side the smell of teak oil was to my taste quite pleasant but it may not be every body cup of tea. What I can't understand is why when there are at least 4 areas to sit and eat your food would you pick an area you find offensive. As far as the food was concerned the prawn and avocado salad was excellent and the steak banquette was one of the best I've had. And the staff could not have been more helpful. Will definitely be going back

The food is good, but it doesn't taste too good with the smell of furniture oil in the air. Went to have lunch with my husband today and the owner is completely oblivious (or doesn't care) about the very strong smell of furniture oil as he paints the tables just a few feet away. Should have walked out but we had paid at the till. Full DIY with paintbrush going on amidst people eating...you couldn't make it up. Gave this place the benefit of the doubt when it had new ownership but not taking the chance of a fence being painted next time. Far more respectful owners in Midhurst....walk a little further and you will find them.

Day trip with 2 friends to explore Midhurst. Popped in for tea and cake around 4pm. Tables in room at the back were covered with dirty dishes from lunchtime which we cleared ourselves and waitress didn't even wipe table when she bought our order. Drinks and scones were OK but very disappointed with service and cleanliness :( Dined later at Olive and Vine just down the road which was fabulous

Ordered two vegetarian breakfasts. The scrambled eggs were revolting. I don't know how they cooked them but it must have involved a lot of water, as there was a lot of it sloshing about in the bottom of the plate. The mushrooms were also disgusting. They looked like they were a couple of days old and drenched in a horrible mixture of butter and water. The two teas that came with it (costing extra) were simply a tea bag floating in a mug. They couldn't even be bothered to bring us a pot of tea. I glanced into the kitchen and saw the slovenly-looking cook, whose trousers were covered in food debris, I should have walked out there and then. £13.50 for two meals that weren't even worth half of that. I couldn't be bothered to complain as there was so much wrong with the meals and I just wasn't in the mood to have a row. A horrible experience that left me miserable for the rest of the morning.

If you're looking for a light lunch in relaxed surroundings, the cafe Verdi offers a good selection of paninis, toasties, baked potatoes and light meals. Well prepared and friendly service, and very reasonably priced. Excellent home made cakes available and a good selection of delicatessen goods available. An informal place conveniently located on the High Street.

A modern looking bistro style cafe with pleasing décor and comfortable chairs. Good selection of cakes and drinks. Breakfasts offered from 0800 -1200. Light lunches, sandwiches, paninis, toasties, etc. I thought the prices seemed very fair. Loads better than any coffee shop chain.

My friend and I visit Midhurst every week and have been to most of the coffee shops. We tried the Caffe Verdi a few weeks ago and both commented how slow the service was. We tried it again today and the service was even worse. We gave our order at the counter and then the waitress took seven other customers orders before making our coffee. She did apologise but they really need to get someone making the coffee and another taking the orders especially when it is busy.We won't be going back

lots of places to eat in Midhurst but not many serving simple cafe food. Food was good but all staff we came into contact with miserable and uninviting. Whilst there 4 people walked out commenting that staff were rude. lots of dirty tables which had been cleared and needed a good wipe down. Improve your customer service and you could be a fab cafe. There at 13.50 and the middle aged lady serving did not smile once and looked very put out at having to serve customers As a cafe you obviously dont need to make money

I recently stopped in Midhurst to charge my electric car (EV) and fancied a coffee whilst the rapid charger did its job. Although the usual suspects were there in terms of high street brands with their somewhat bland and overheated coffee I thought I'd try Caffe Verdi. The service was friendly and helpful. I bought cappuccino to go, which was competitively priced and was also tempted to buy a slice of Millionaire's Shortbread (the caramel and chocolate slice thingy) plus a couple of interesting almond pastry twists to share at the end of my journey. I was delighted to find that the coffee had good flavour and was well balanced. The Milionaire's was stick, sweet, crumbly and delicious and the pastry twists were well received by my host when I arrived at the door of my journey.Top marks for great coffee and great service! Much appreciated on a long journey.

I entered teh shop for a take away as I was shopping in Chichester and was hungry. I saw a very inviting looking pasty 'Beef and chilli' advertised at £4.70 take way price. I offered a £5 Bank of England note (Legal tender in England I am led to believe). I was told 'I am unable to accept cash' I shall be complaining to trading standards about this but in the mean time please don't shop here until they accept the currency of the land.

Member of our group had a dog, so we were placed in the 'extension'. Lighting was hardly sufficient to see each other or our food (it was a grey day) Service was slow to standard. Food - the pound doesn't go far in this restaurant for a mediocre meal, in a poorly lit, lacking in atmosphere restaurant. We were a large party of 11 - and all left without coffee or dessert due to service.

Horrible experience, went for a quick coffe meanwhile my kids were at the gym, got my cup and waited in line, massive queue and only one machine working, as i was running out of time i went to the bar and asked to have my order changed to a half pint, for my surprise the guy at the bar not only refused but also said it was not his problem, i argued i was running out of time and no simpathy, i then asked for a refund and he refused saying it was not his problem, so i lost my purchase and had no refund for a product i did not consumend and was treated very rude by an unprofessional, i did not escalated further with management because of a cup of coffe but his lack of customer service was so appalling that i wont be coming back anymore.
