Mote Park Cafe in Maidstone

I have eaten here for breakfast a few times now and every time has been great. Always somewhere to sit. Food comes out in a good time and is lovely. Tables are clean.

Excellent in every way! My Mum, who has mobility difficulties, decided that she would like to go to the cafe in Mote Park for afternoon tea for her 86th birthday. Although we were a small group of four, I made contact in advance of our visit to see if this was something they could help us with. The whole team went out of their way to organise something really special. All above and beyond of what is already a very good service. The food was wonderful, I have eaten here before and have always found the food to be excellent. I cannot thank the people involved enough for making this so special for my Mum, she really was thrilled with everything. Especially the beautiful bunch of flowers she was given as we were leaving. Random acts of kindness really do mean a lot. This is a lovely business and I really think it should be given as much support as possible. Special thanks to Blossom, Robert and Darren.

Dropped in for a quick coffee but decided to stay for breakfast... Approx 10 am on a Friday. Ordered the Super Moat and a bacon and egg bap... Plus the coffee. Food and drink were great, staff were spot on... Can't fault it. Having been to Moat park many times I can imagine the cafe to be swamped with already super stressed patents of 5 year olds on a weekend 😂😂😂 ( my boy being older I'm way past that agro) Not sure if dogs being allowed in the cafe is the best of ideas but as a dog lover can see both sides of the coin. Overall I was very impressed, will return and would definitely recommend.

Staff were very accommodating when we turned up on a Saturday afternoon, peak tike but still found space in the cafe, happy for us to move tables to fit everyone in, allowed us to have our own birthday cake, no issues. Good, well presented food which came quickly, staff very friendly. A lovely cafe in a lovely spot.

I was on the fence about trying this café after reading the reviews, but curiosity (and hunger) won out. Ordering whilst having to hop to the side to be able to see the menu felt more than a little awkward, but maybe that's just me. We were able to get a table when the park was packed, and the food came very quickly which was a nice surprise. The food itself was a mixed bag. The kids' chicken nuggets were actual chunks of chicken, so an upgrade on the usual standard fare, but the chips didn't quite hit the same heights. We grown ups got the ham, egg and chips, which wasn't hugely inspiring but fine (I suppose no one orders it expecting a culinary adventure!). Overall fine and we managed to avoid being shouted at, which based on the experience of other reviewers, feels like a win.

I visited here today with my 2 year old son and my in laws and my nephew. I recommended the place due to coming last week with a friend and my son and having lovely food and a lovely experience! However, this week was certainly not the same and I will not be returning. Whilst the food was quick and pleasant the rest of our experience was not! My son was very excited to be seeing the ducks in the park which we had told him we would be doing after lunch. Needless to say he was noisy and kept saying ducks and being generally excited and quite noisy. Despite our best efforts to keep the noise level down. To my disgust a member of the cafe staff came over to me and said you need to keep your son quiet or you’ll have to leave. She further explained a group had made complaints about the noise. I was absolutely disgusted by this comment. The cafe is situated in a park right next to a large children’s play area. I am also pregnant and did not need the added stress. It’s a real shame but clearly children and families are NOT welcome here and I will not give them another penny of my money. I could understand if it was a posh restaurant but a park side cafe I would have expected some consideration for families. So long and short of this is if you have children avoid.

Visit this cafe twice a week for brunch after having a walk around the park. Have got to know most of the staff who work there and some will stop and have a chat. Lorena in particular is very welcoming and the cafe has a nice friendly atmosphere. Like that the dogs are also welcome. Food is good too. Thank you

Had a nice late lunch here . We both had toasted sandwiches and a pot of tea . Enjoyed the food which tasted nice and fresh . The tea was good though the pot was a little difficult to pore from . The lady who brought it to us was friendly . The counter area was a little cramped with people coming to be served form different directions . The trays were too big for the counter and seemed a little pointless as you were given a number with your order anyway . Service there was a little slow as it was difficult to tell who was next . The seating area was nice and clean and quite roomy .

The service has ALWAYS been slow but today it was absolutely terrible, waited nearly an hour and a half for a kids meal, two sausage baps and two portions of chips. Chased up twice, each time to be told will be out in 5 minutes- it never was. When I chased up the second time I got attitude from the staff. Everyone was complaining at how long they were waiting for their food. Take aways were given priority. Some people didn’t even order hot food and they had to wait a long time. Ruined our day out as had to get our baby back for her nap so we did’t have time to enjoy the park. Won’t be back and we live within walking distance!!

Very clean and comfortable and really friendly staff. Coffee was good and the staff made it even better! A lovely place to finish off a dog walk.

I will NEVER buy food from this establishment again! Firstly it’s completely chaotic with 3 different queues and no-one knowing which queue is for what, the time you have to wait once you’ve ordered your food is ridiculous considering there is plenty of staff and we visited during the day in term time it was just manic from start to finish. When you do finally get your food order you will probably be very disappointed that you had to wait as long as you do then to be given a very undercooked burger that was gooey and was like dog meat (this is what we ordered) and the bun was all falling apart like it was three days old and the Cornish pasty that we ordered was warm, but once you had a bite into it, the meat filling was chewy and tough and just was not edible! We were going to complain and return the food but given it had taken so long for us to recieve our food and the queues still being long we decided not to bother. It’s extremely overpriced and I will not return to eat on this place again!

If you like dog's this is great ,on a wet day the place stinks of wet dog and is full to bursting with dogs and their owners ,I for one am allergic to dogs and the smell is overwhelming I certainly would not eat or drink here which is a shame as I take my Grandson to the park every week, I really don't know why dogs have to be admitted it really is unpleasant,the staff also are very slow and there are always queues outside,really a complete waste of my council tax.

Absolutely shocking service! One small coffee machine, not enough staff and 30 minute wait for 3 coffees!! They seriously need to have a look at this awful system! It could and should be so much better!! Won’t bother next time!

We called in for a coffee before going for a walk in Mote Park. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the freshly made coffee was very good. Unfortunately, we called in just before lunch time and, being half term, the cafe was extremely busy. However, as soon as a table emptied, it was tidied and cleaned and made ready for the next customers. There was a good choice of snacks on the menu and what we saw being served looked good.

Having paid £3.05 for a flat white with oatmilk (you pay extra for having a dietary need) I received a cup which was 1/3 coffee and milk and 2/3 steamed milk. I walked 5 mins to find the foam had gone. Not great.

Third time I’ve been to the cafe and never once actually got served. It’s the worst designed and run venue I have ever been in. The younger staff avoid eye contact because they know the wiring system is a disaster and the senior staff , well !!!! After queuing for 15 mins a lady came out and practically shouted at us referring to us as ‘You Lot’ and continued to say we were Queing in the wrong direction and needed to go to the back of another very long Que. There was no one guiding and no signage. Myself and most of my fellow customers were fuming. She was so rude. The layout of the new cafe is preposterous and no hope of a one way system, the production as a result is too slow. That was the last and final time I try going in there. The ice cream van outside was better organised. Cannot put this cafe down enough. Shocking!

Waited 20 mins for a coffee, queue was very long. 4 staff waiting to clean the table just standing talking. Supposed to be given a table number unbeknown to us and wasn’t. Awful place won’t be going again

I have been to mote park several times. I cannot fault the service or food. I actually go to this park purely for lunch lol. It is pricey and sometimes the queues can be long. We have always got a table and staff have always gone beyond. Today we had lunch and then went for a walk. We then returned for an icecream which was delicious. However we found a piece of sharp plastic in one of the icecreams which was being fed to my 1 Yr old. I went back and told the server and asked to speak to a managed to be told she wasn't there. I showed what I had found to prevent someone else getting hurt. She checked the tubs and found the tub that had a chipped piece of plastic from it. It appeared to possibly happen when placing the tubs into the display unit it as it was chipped from the side. Unsure if she will feedback this to the manager to prevent it happening again.

Awful food and service. Disorganised layout and less than friendly staff. I had a vegan burger which should have come with an array of salad what I got was a plain powdered bap, spinach and falafel burger and two pieces of lettuce, it was as bland as any food can be. My missus had a regular which by contrast was sloppy and over filled. Neither of us enjoyed our burgers! Chips were nice though hence 2 stars. Will not eat there again though, next time we’ll take a picnic with us.

Awful place. Long wait, charged wring price and good inedible. Got a refund and girl totally disinterested, rude and unapologetic. Made me feel like I was complaining about nothing. Very dear for what we had. First and last visit.

We queued for 20 mins just to get served with drinks!! Only one till open and the server was moany, miserable and had an argument with another member of staff!! Not what we expected at all, didn’t bother with food as so overpriced and overheard people outside complaining, won’t be going again I’m afraid!

For £2.5 million, you'd expect a Michelin star restaurant. Unfortunately, the only Michelin star aspect of this cafe are the prices. Poor design, long queues, poor service and a £6 wrap which was 99% lettuce. One can only assume some councillors pocketed a big chunk of this £2.5 million shambles.

What a waste of a great opportunity to provide a properly functioning park cafe....and at a cost to us, the public of an eye watering £2.5m (just look on rightmove at what kind of house that figure will buy you....and bear in mind the council already owned the land it sits on!) This cafe is poorly managed and even more poorly laid out. It is directly opposite a ready made money earning opportunity......namely the huge childrens playpark. A play park with loads of parents watching their kids play.....the majority of those no doubt wanting a drink while they watch. The cafe people don't see to realise this...they seem to think people go to the park with their dogs and kids to specifically have a full blown sit down meal...and for this the cafe people have catered for. Those that just want a coffee and maybe a sandwich and cake to take away...forget it. Well, forget it if you're in a hurry. The service is soooooo slow and disorganised. The takeaway serving hatch is rarely open as they can't seem to cope with more than three people in a queue, so they send everybody into the inside serving space that is so small, even with a few people queuing inside, you will find yourself standing outside with all the other fed up souls. Been three time now on a Sunday afternoon and wanted a coffee to drink as we walked around with the dog. 20-25 minutes queueing EVERY time. There is only one till and the serving are is so small and cramped due to the counter area (where they should put more tills and servers) being taken over by large glass display cabinets. The floor space is so tight if you are queuing to get in, then you all have to stand to one side to let someone out...there should be an entrance and an exit. If you get someone in there with a buggy, then there's a log jam. The whole design of the takeaway area is wrong...and this is where most of your profit should be coming from. One coffee machine, with one disinterested server for the whole park is a missed opportunity to pay back this investment. If someone has leased this cafe from the council, don't moan if it's not making money......anyone that has been around a retail environment can see what you are doing is wrong and how to put it right. I am so disappointed with this, and frustrated as it can and should be better.

Nice enough building and certainly better than what was there before. I am scared of dogs (please don't say my dog won't hurt you) and this cafe is full of dogs. This was my 2nd visit as didn't want to judge on just one visit. My Grandchildren are wary of dogs so unfortunately I will not be visiting again. I do not want to be surrounded by dogs when having a drink or eating food. Interesting that some dogs were jumping up at the tables can just imagine the comments if my Grandchildren did that. Waited all this time for the cafe to open and now find its only welcoming to those that have or like dogs.

Nice new building but everyone was confused with were the Q started and customers were generally not happy with the waiting time for food and drinks It's a shame as nice new building but general lack of management

Long waiting time for two coffees and a couple of buns. Way overpriced. The cost was £11.50 which is ridiculous. After waiting for over 30 mins we gave up and left, They would only refund the cost of the coffees in case we had touched...

Went twice this last weekend, on both occasions the cafe was disorganised and grubby. Poor quality seating areas inside and out. Very overpriced. A baguette was £4.40 and a can of fizzy was £1.85. Not a good selling point for Mote Park. Shame😣

Been 3 days this week.Excellent food and service from Lauren today, friendly and very helpful. Very clean table, serving area and toilet.Very healthy food for little one too.Thank you ever so much for helping to keep our little one fed and cool with excellent ice cream this week. Very rude, uninterested staff with over priced food and drink. Visited late afternoon, waited at the counter a while before being served, place quiet at this time but I understand was busy earlier. Would not serve scoop ice cream as this is for weekend only. This in itself isn’t a problem, the problem was the attitude of the member of staff. If you don’t like people don’t work in customer facing role where you are expected to be polite at all times. This isn’t the first time I’ve encountered rude staff here, might have something to do with all of them being young and inexperienced, or the fact there is nothing else at Mote Park serving food and drink so they feel as if they can treat customers as they wish.

Visited lunchtime today very poor selection of food available. We had a portion of chips each which was passable Outside tables were left uncleared or cleaned a staff member sweeping and creating dust and dumping it into a refuse bin in the middle of eating area, very inhygienic. Will not visit again

Yet the flat white coffee I ordered was served in a mug, the same size as a latte mug, straight from a push button machine.. That is not something to boast about! Plus my cake was served to me in a paper bag.. need I say more ..!?

Bland coffee, uninterested staff serving it. No please or thank you from them, the cafe wasn’t even busy at the time. I will bring my own coffee in a flask next time and won’t give them my custom or more importantly my money.

Consistently disappointing, awful coffee and if you get there half an hour before closing, it always looks as though they are already shut with chairs stacked up on tables. This could really be a lucrative business, but has a long way to go.

Popped in literally for a takeaway coffee and greeted by a friendly member of staff, who asked if he could interest us in anything hot from the kitchen. We declined but the smell of bacon was very tempting on a cold and frosty morning. Coffee was pretty decent for £2.40. This cafe can get really busy. Range of hot and cold snacks on offer. Limited seating in and outside. Parking nearby.

You expect high prices at any national trust property or cafe but this place excels High price and awful food, well done. The Chili was a masterpiece of bland, achieving a new culinary level of how not to make Chilli. Get a new chef.

This is a cafe easy to find in the middle of Mote Park in Maidstone. The staff are friendly and efficient. You can get a coffee, tea or soft drink here and there's a selection of cakes and sandwiches available too. Seating inside is basic but roomy, and if the weather is fair there's plenty of outside seating to enjoy the views across the parkland.

This cafe is run by the local council and cost savings is everywhere. Poor menu and mediocre food. Salt and pepper shakers were dirty and in need of filling. Sticky tables. Empty boxes on view. Strange service set up. Badly in need of good management.

Good breakfast at a reasonable price. Fantastic surroundings. Staff are friendly and it's possible to eat outside. Lots of dogs - great.

Polite and helpful young staff but the cafe itself is badly thoughtout and over priced. I used to purchase drinks regularly but I wont bother from now on. Saw two male staff arguing, very unprofessional for the environment.

On a day with decent weather, Mote Park cafe is useful when you and friends or family are taking a stroll through Mote Park and need to grab a little snack or a drink.

I visited for lunch after a beautiful walk in this lovely park. Sadly my experience in this cafe did not match its surroundings.

Cafe in middle of huge park where dozens of people walk dogs. Was looking forward to hot drink after very cold walk around the lake. Got the hot drink but no dogs allowed inside cafe. Cafe is scruffy and untidy. Obviously its winter and various summer parafanalia has to be stored somewhere but not a great advert for the business. Possibly a reason why there were not many customers.

I don't think they are set up for coaches! I was in a queue of one this morning, and I still had to wait. Thankfully, it rarely is busy

Voy a park mote muy a menudo con mi niño y joven de hoy en día no compré algunas bebidas y comida caliente. A mi disgusto dejaron esperando 25 minutos para unas patatas fritas cuando 5 Clientes que ordenados después pero pedimos lo mismo como yo nos dieron la comida! Yo comentamos con un miembro del personal de respuesta' es en el orden de las entradas! 'bien, obviamente no es visto como tú mi pedido a venir.

Good range of snacks, hot drinks, relatively inexpensive. We visit each time we take a walk around the park.

We walk the dogs every week and have really enjoyed the food,hot chocolate and the coffee particularly all summer etc.However what has happenened??? the food isnt the same equality,is it cost cutting?And the hot chocolate is very weak and too sweet and our favourite the coffee is absolutely awful. We are really fed up as went in to the cafe at least twice a week if not more and now we wont go in as its so bad. Why did you change it when it was so good?

Llegamos aquí con la familia para un paseo en el parque. Servido por posiblemente el borde nunca. Pedimos unos chocolates calientes nos recibió la respuesta que estaban sirviendo té y café instantáneo. Nos apuraron para salir y las puertas estaban cerradas y bloqueadas de golpe detrás de nosotros. Agradezco querían demasiado cerca pero por mi reloj y los otros 3 clientes que apuraron la salida era las 14:50 justo. Hora de cierre era de 15:00. Por cortés y el cliente está a la derecha.

My Son Grandson and I went to the Park to take photographs. After a good walk round went to the Café to have a drink and warm up. Good basic range of drinks and snacks. I had a cappuchino and a scone. Hot coffee and a fresh wrapped scone and butter for my Son and I and a cold drink and prepacked biscuits for Grandson. The toilets are located in the café now which is a lot better than the previous location. Overall a good basic stop off while you are in the park. Floor needed a bit of a sweep but that's my critical eye! Didn't see all the prices as I didn't order and pay but noticed on the way out a mug of tea or café was only a £1. Good basic value for money while you are in the Park.

Very friendly staff, adequate menu, fascinating timeline display of Mote Park history within. But how about proper cafe tables outside instead of uncomfortable picnic-style benches?

We had a lovely walk round moat park & then stopped off at the park cafe. We ordered 2 hot chocolate's & cookies. The lady that served us was friendly. Prices are average. Sat outside with William dog & watched the world go by. Enjoyable morning.

I first went to the cafe back in February and was disgusted with how we was treated BUT since then i was told it had improved drastically so i tried it again and was very impressed. fresh cooked food, the staff was relaxed and friendly including the one that was rude back in February. and I believe it was all due down to the acting manager who i must say set up Cobtree Manor Park cafe too which is also a great success BUT in the last couple of days i have found out that the manager is going to be replaced . i am so shocked by this as this man has done so much to turn this cafe around for mote park and the council. I hope the council looks on this site to read this. I hope to god it doesn't go back to smash and grab food if this is the case a lot of people WILL not go in the cafe. cant beat quality home cooked food, yes i know there is room for improvement but come on council sort it out.rant over

Popped into the cafe after a cycle ride and had a big slice of orange drizzle cake with creme freche. My partner had a lovely fresh cheese and tomato sandwich which came with a really unexpected salad! Would highly recommend for a pit stop!

Really really really like the coffee !!! Kids love it here too.This park is so good to have in a town and the changes that have been made over the last couple of years have been good. Staff lovely too.

We had a lovely day out at the park. It was very busy in the cafe, we only wanted to buy some ice creams. The queue was all over the place, and the ice creams were almost melted by the time we got served. Felt sorry for the staff, particularly when the angry old man that was cooking constantly balled out at them.

I first noticed a change to this café as we approached it, new picnic tables which immediately made it look smarter. Inside was a vast improvement. It looks cleaner and brighter after a renovation in the winter. It is well positioned beside the playground, a car park and close to the Lake. Most of the cakes are home made as are the scones. Ice creams and drinks are available for hot days. The staff were friendly too.

Nice little feature to the park, but it could be better. There is some basic food options, though I haven't had a bad meal there. They have the crispiest chips/ fries I've ever had - which was a good thing. It could definitely use some renovations, and attempt to fit in with the rest of the park. Additionally, the staff were talkative and friendly, and our order for the chips took roughly 2 minutes.

I went to Mote Park in Maidstone to enjoy a sunny day out in the countryside. The park is lovely with a boating lake and wild areas where you can get away from everyone.I came across this delightful cafe at the end of the visit and what a pleasant surprise it was. The cafe was clean, the staff were really efficient and friendly, and the food looked very good. I had home made scones and two mugs of tea for £4.50 which I thought was reasonable. The scones were huge and tasty, very fresh, made that day. The menu was varied and it was busy with families and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.So if you find yourself in Mote Park give it a visit!

A great day out in the countryside, the Mote Park cafe is a perfect stop for scones and tea. Wonderful setting with miles of walking trails to keep you occupied.

Reasonable prices with a wide selection of food and drink for all different taste, very nice friendly service.

Since the council has taken over this cafe they have done wonders. The seating area is clean fresh and welcoming and same with the displays of food and drink. Staff are polite and the toilets are acceptable again. A lick of paint has done it wonders. The food and drink is still a reasonable price so that is a bonus too.

We went on the Segway experience in the park, and found this little cafe as we were early. I have to say, when I got back, I was really surprised to see the negative reviews!Our experience was really good ..., the young, tall guy on the till was extremely efficient and polite, the filter coffee was brilliant and service was great generally. The friendly manager come through and said hello, the girl who gave us our drinks was very polite, the tables were clean, the snacks were well stocked, the homemade sparkle cake was huge and it was a really fab experience.

Decided to take the kids to mote park for a lovely sunny walk stopped off at the cafe which I may add we havent been in since the much needed revamp in ALL areas eg: cheap food which was poorly served with staffs attitude a joke really the whole lot should of been closed down BUT we had a complete different experience this time the cafe was lovely and clean with some very helpful and happy staff and the food was lovely we waited 10/15mins for freshly cooked burgers and chips and it was very tasty and well worth it even the kids ate it all..so thumbs up to the new management of mote park cafe such a turnaround will definitely be using again keep up the good work

Its a bit of a ronseal moment. It's a little cafe near the park offering hot and cold drinks and snacks as well as seating. Noting special or out of the ordinary. The staff are nice and polite just what you would expect from a cafe in a park

The toilets can be a bit hit and miss. But the food is nice and a good price and the area always seems clean.

Took my daughter for a day in park, checked the cafe times so we could get a snack on the way back to the car. Had a nice day in the park got back to the cafe where the women inside seemed annoyed that we had come in 20 minutes before closing. They didn't have anything out so we asked what they did have only to be told they are closing soon so we can have crisps or chocolate bars only.Terrible attitude like they are doing you a favour letting you inside.

Omg they run out of drink on the hottest day of the year so far! Discusting no excuse for this should be shut down based on this reason alone

had a great day in the park Saturday followed by a late lunch in the café, had read some bad reviews but can honestly say we was very impressed , except for the prices , which I do think for a café in a park are way to steep. The lady at the till was very polite and helpful and the guy making the drinks was very smiley and happy. I had to go and tell the lady that there was no toilet paper in the ladies loo, after apologising she immediately went and got some. Great service, lovely café.

We visited the cafe after a family walk round the park, such a lovely little cafe very friendly staff nothing was too much for them, will definitely be coming back and recommending to friends, it's a big thumbs up from us

Just wanted to pop in and grab a quick bite we were greeted by a very rude lady saying they were shutting as they had run out of change ! It was 3pm and they are meant to close at 330pm. We talked out way in saying that we had the exact money the queue of people inside were very angry ! Reading the reviews it seems as though this is a regular occurrence ! What a shame this could be a fantastic spot for a cafe.

It's me again walking my dog yesterday after not been there for over a month and thought I try the cafe again, open this time to see if it was any better afraid not, ask for could you butter a scone for me,not a word spoken just shoved it into a plastic box with a small packet of butter which was so hard it would not spread with plastic knife (won't be asking for that again) anyway cup of tea did arrive very quickly. There seems to be a lack of (can I help you) The cafe and park was very quite could this be down to the council fleecing the car driver again I think so, another reason not to go back,I will be going back to Medway Parks no charges there and better cafes with more to choose from and helpful.

When it stops taking food orders! Decided to take my daughter to Mote Park for the day. Got there at lunch time so I thought we'd get a bite to eat in the café. Walked to to a fairly busy cafe, which you'd expect at lunch time, but it wasn't full and managed to get a table (although not a clean one). When I went to order some food I was told they weren't taking orders for food as they were too busy. It's a cafe for goodness sake. I decided to get some coffees to take away. Had to repeat my order 3 times and the guys still got it wrong when he went to make it. Can't comment on the good as I didn't get any. Certainly won't be using the cafe again though. If they're too busy to serve me food I'm to busy to give them my money. I'd recommend a picnic and a flask.

we heard that the cafe at mote park had changed hends. We went today to see if it had but we were very disapointed. it was quite cos of weather but when we walked in the new done caf we were shouted at close the door now we werent even in the door and she shouted again to close the door we asked for some tea and coffee but thay got the order wrong and we were told by the woman to speak more clearly. she was rude and upset us.we drunk our drinks and went. how rude is she allowed to be.

Have been using mote park for dog walking for some years and always try and get a cup of tea and food at the end of walk not a lot of chooses very disappointed and that is if you are prepared to que the service is so slow and expensive have on many occasions given up whent this Sunday only to be meet with locked doors to cafe at 2.45 notice on door said we close at 3.30 so why closed after some time and knocking on door to get attention a lady did come out and said closed because we have run out of milk by this time I have counted some 20 people who wanted to use this service what a way to run a business have they not hearted of fridges any way why close could have had cold drinks or coffee without milk I think just lazy and wanted to get home very poor

Went to Mote Park cafe on business what a great team Sharon and Neil keep this cafe clean fresh and with excellent service
