Blue Ocean Fish & Grill in Maidstone

This shop has unfortunately changed hands and the batter on the fish isn’t crispy as before or nice as it’s like supermarket frozen fish batter which isn’t crispy. Won’t be going there again after this was our favourite fish and chip shop

I am not sure its blue ocean anymore but the fish and chips was Luke warm when we got home which is less than 5 mins away. Disappointed.

We ordered pukka pie and chips and kebab. The Pie was good but the chips were awful. 0 potato in them. Kebab was not bad also but not the best.

me and my mate ordered and its was taking really long we asked him how long it will be and he goes why do you have somewhere to be we said not really he went then sit down rudely another man walked in said can i sausage and chips he said no get out

Was un happy as asked for a Shish kebab and burger sauce but when it came didn’t have the burger sauce but otherwise ok

Shocking - completely wrong order - called and was told I had to bring it back - really ??? Did I not pay a delivery fee - no joy on phone in fact he hung up - gone so downhill just don’t waste your money !

Turned up 30 mins late and tried to deliver saying no drivers and my house was too far. You shouldn’t have it on the map and then try and blame me that it was late. Driver was very rude. Never ordering from there again. Awful awful. AVOID!!!

Order was quick to be delivered. However food was stone cold. Chicken shish kebab was burnt and there was minimal chicken. Partner cheesy chips were no cheesy chips. Items missing from our order and when I called restaurant person on the phone was very rude and stated that they had no drivers to attend and rectify the issues. Very rude and unprofessional won’t be ordering from here again.

Great discovery... food was freshly cooked, service was entertaining in a really nice way... and fish and chips excellent...

This is a fantastic place to eat, the food was crispy, tasty, and scrumptious. The service was fantastic, everyone was talkative and social. I would highly recommend for anyone to come here. Everything is perfect and amazing.

I ordered a fish chips . The fish was dry and the batter was soggy . Chips were over cooked and hollow inside . Very very poor quality food .

Scampi was fine, chips had been reheated from earlier and were dried out, sausage was ok, the best bit was the carrot cake. Won't be using them again.

Order was wrong. Worst chips from a chippy ever as too many end pieces. Guy on phone told me he packed the correct order and I was wrong then told me how busy they were and nothing they could do about it. Shish Kebab tasted like curry. Haven't treated ourselves to a kebab for so long but with this order and the price we won't be repeating it. We are currently waiting for a doner kebab but we shall see when it comes and what quality it will be!!!

Ordered cod and chips 7.30 New Year’s Eve fish was fine chips were inedible suspect left over from lunchtime

I ordered large plaice but got a small piece of cod that had been cut down and was under cooked. . I ordered large chips and medium chips, the large portion was miles smaller than the medium portion. The medium cod I ordered was also very “slimy” and not properly cooked. Not happy at all. Will not be using this business again.

First time ordering from here. Order was missing chips, which is somewhat fundamental fare for a fish & chip shop! Okay, JE refund them, but doesn't help on the night. Both kebabs ordered were cold - a 60 second ping and all was well (and very tasty, to be honest). Halloumi fries and mozzarella sticks were both underwhelming and almost half ended up uneaten and in the bin. Sure, the former were a free item, but that shouldn't matter to the quality. All a bit disappointing really.

Lovely food and delivered early

Good portions, food was hot , reasonable prices chips were crisp and fluffy

Avoid this place. Went in to buy peri peri chicken and chips, was told they don’t do it. I then ordered fried chicken and chips and was eventually given breast pieces and a small box of chips - cost £6.00. When I asked for the drink, I was given a fruit shoot so I said this is a child’s drink and was then told it was for the child’s meal🤦🏽‍♀️. I said I did not order a child’s meal and only then was told that they did not do the fried chicken but I said it was on the menu and was told they no longer do it. I was fed up and took the food and walked out. They half heartedly offered to give my money back but by then it was too late. I tried the food and it was tasteless and the chips were horrible and hard. This was my first time there and will certainly be my last time! I would rather travel into Northfleet to get the best chicken/fish and chips from my previous fish and chip shop. Stay away from Blue Ocean Fish and Grill…terrible service, terrible communication and food is of very poor standard😤

Usually very good food from here, but not tonight. The curry sauce had been massively watered down, it was honestly like essence of curry sauce. The bread rolls were very stale, and the chips were soggy and greasy. Not this takeaways finest hour.

We ordered a medium cod, and the batter was super soggy, under cooked in some places. It got stuck to the paper they served it on inside the box and the whole batter got ripped off the whole fish. Just a shame.

Served me the most overpriced, greasy and probably expired chicken shish kebab, and wings. Would not recommend, unless you want food poisoning!

Usually the food from here is really good but what was delivered this time was awful the food was cold and couldn’t eat it the burger was like rubber as if it had been reheated you couldn’t eat it the whole order was disgusting and had was thrown away as it was not edible

Normally great but today it was a bit late and our chips were missing, the delivery driver came straight back and dropped them off. Food was great as always though!!

Opening times incorrectly displayed. Advertised as being open until 10pm ( (Picture posted to prove this)on Google. Phoned at 920pm to be told their closed.

Business advertised as being open until 10pm. Rang at 920pm to be told its closed followed by some half hearted apology and no explanation for the mis information provided. Went elsewhere and thankful that I rang so I didn't make a wasted trip. Looking now at the other reviews looks as though I had a lucky escape. Posted screenshot of opening times advertised.

Ordered kebab with all salads didnt get any salad at all. Ordered a burger paid extra for cheese and no cheese in the burger !!!

Always order from Blue Ocean, never lets us down. Good always hot, well cooked and taste good. Delivery is always on time if not early. Great takeaway!!

When I ordered, the payment side didn't go through, so I ordered the second time, it went through, I have been charged twice the restaurant rang me and I told them there was a mistake and they agreed but they still charged me.

The food was lovely and hot and tasty. It arrived early which was great.

We ordered at 4.30 pm. We received a text message from just eat 5.18pm saying it was out for delivery. After still not receiving our order at 5.45 pm we called blue ocean. To be told it has been delivered. The man on the phone said he will ring the driver and call us back to find out what was going on. 5mins later the driver phoned insisting he had delivered it and proceeded to shout down the phone saying “are you calling me a liar!?” And said he delivered it and a little girl answered the door and he rang a black door bell. We have neither a black door bell or a little girl living at our address! He carried on yelling at me and told me to take it up with just eat to ask for a refund. Not long after the original man called back and said he will send out a fresh order however they needed to substitute an item as they had run out. By this point we had waited 2hours for our delivery. I asked for a refund and he said that it’s not possible they can only send out a fresh order. I said I really do not want that same delivery driver to turn up at my address as he was so abusive down the phone and felt unsafe to have him turn up at my front door. The man assured me it wouldn’t be the same driver. 20 mins later our order arrived and it was indeed the same man as he was laughing and said he doesn’t recognise our door and must have delivered to the wrong address. I asked if he was the ‘gentleman’ I spoke to on the phone and our previous delivery driver. He responded yes he was and that he is the owner and he would never be rude as customers are important to him. I said he was literally shouting down the phone and then told me to take it up with just eat and hung up on me. He’s just laughed and started to walk off. After all this we just put the food in the bin as we couldn’t trust what they would have done with the food if this is how they treat their customers. Absolutely disgusted with blue ocean and would certainly not be ordering with them again. And would recommend no one else do either!

The food is always hot, the meat of quality and well cooked. The salad is fresh and portions are perfect. Never had a cause for complaint in over two years of using this takeaway.

Always get my fish & chips from these guys, definitely the best food in Maidstone

Eaten at this place a number of times. The fish and chips are always flavoursome, hot and well priced. This place does not deserve a 2 star review. Honestly the chips here are the best I've had in Maidstone. Give it another try.

Stopped off for to buy my Friday night fish and chips as I knew my local would be closed before I got home and the fish was outstanding 10 out of 10 would definitely come again if I'm ever in Maidstone many thanx xxx

OK, im 37 years old and im ex army so ive travelled a lot around the world and of course the UK. Fish and chips and sausage and chips are a staple! But in those 37 years, this is easily the worst i have ever had by a country mile. I got sausage and chips with a gross bendy sausage which had clearly been cooked hours before, my mate got fish and chips but couldnt eat the soggy fish and my other mate got pie and chips but pie was very cold in the middle. again, this must have been sat around for hours. First and last time. Guys, you need to do better!

The food was absolutely amazing. The cheesy chips were pro, portion sizes were lovely, king burger with hellim top, sublime. Now the winner by far wad thr 8 wings for £5.50, they were some of the best sauced and giant wings I have eaten in a while!!!! Will be getting wings from here and no other place!!

Large plaice and chips was delicious and Chilli squid very good and tasty and hot Mushy peas all hot and tasty.Greek salad all good and fresh.Fanta cold and Icecream was still frozen.All came packaged well and the delivery man was also polite and helpful.

Einfach schlecht und zu teuer. Bevor wir GB verlassen wollten wir einmal Fisch und Chips essen. Portionen sind klein, zu teuer und es schmeckt nicht. Der Typ der da arbeitet wirkte sehr desinteressiert bei der Bestellung. Hygiene an den Geräten war auch nicht gut. Am besten irgendwo anderes essen gehen.

Had doner meat and chips. The meat was really greasy and had lots of gristle. Portions were decent for the price.

The food was Luke warm, the chicken kebab was meant to be large, It looked like a medium size at best, and the batter on the sausage’s was stodgy not crisp. Won’t be ordering from them again.

The chicken doner meat was spoiled / out of date. It smelt awful. Needless to say we complained but just got a generic response from just eat refusing a refund. Obviously they didn't read my actual comments and thought I was simply complaining about the taste of the food.
