Stopped by when looking for lunch spot during hike nearby - nice weather so were out in the garden. Lovely and friendly service and good food too, recommended!

Tables in the garden area needed wiping down. After waiting a very long time for our orders the food was dry and over cooked. Myself and guest left most of our lunch as we found it inedible. The one point I gave was for the cleanliness of the ladies toilets.

We returned to this pub as we were visiting Bicester Village, we had been to the pub the year before and even then the customer service was not great. However, we went back as there was a big group of us so we could sit outside altogether. Drinks were ordered fine, however when it came to ordering the food we went inside again to order & there is one older gentleman bar tender who proceeded to ignore us and take everyone else’s order, 25 minutes until we had enough and stated ‘is anyone going to serve us’ it was stated abruptly as we were very frustrated but was not aggressive at all, this bartender then turned around and shouted at us that we were being threatening and for us to leave. We stated happily and left. Can’t believe how this man ignored us and then turned horrible after we were frustrated. We will never return!!!

What a fantastic restaurant! The staff were amazing, they literally bent over backwards to serve us what we wanted! I had my eye on a lunch dish that only came as a modified starter on the dinner menu & when I asked the friendly waitress if I could have it, they said yes. I also wanted the peach crumble but unfortunately, it was sold out. The chef said he could do apple crumble which I thought was great, but I wanted it with hot custard (something not on the menu) & they willingly obliged! Incidentally, the apple crumble was perfect... plenty of apple & no stodgy dough! Thank you Waterwitch for your hospitality, we had a super dinner!

The food was essentially good but let down by some details. Fish, peas and chips were very hot but prawns were just tepid. The butter pat for the mackerel pate was frozen solid, and the fish and chips were served on a piece of fake newspaper on top of the plate (why?) which disintegrated as the food was cut. Service was very slow but there is an event tonight which seems to have taken the staff planner by surprise. And there was a big string of flashing fairy lights which was distracting and annoying to us but would have been disastrous for any epileptics in. The puddings we had were very nice (sticky toffee pudding and lemon posset) but no one wanted “plant based” cream and meringue on the Eton mess. Otherwise, lovely venue,

Hadn't been to the White Bear in a long time and decided to take the family for my birthday. There is excellent parking and the outside area is open and relaxed. The interior is wonderfully cosy. The food does take a while but it is worth the wait. I had the trio roast which was perfect, even the veg. My daughter had the fish n chips which was light and perfectly cooked. The only negative was the flies in the restaurant brought in by the rear folding doors. Not a great deal they can do about that. Will definitely visit again in winter
