First time attending this pub, I ordered the chilli con carne not had the in a while, very disappointed very bland just like having a bowl of mince, no chilli, no peppers and no red kidney beans, had a latte to go with it and it’s a satchel of coffee powered form, not even a coffee machine in the pub, the owner lets her dog run around the pub and it sits there and moans at u if u don’t feed it, not very good for a pub serving food, won’t be going there again

There is a shop & a cafe here, both super friendly and it overlooks the railway station so you can see the trains pull in. We turned up literally 5 minutes before the last train was due in & then they close. The cafe staff were clearly cleaning everything and packing up. We asked for 3 takeaway teas and the lady served us, which i was very grateful for as we were cold and a hot drink was very welcome. I also managed to squeeze a quick purchase at the shop as well. We also saw the last train draw up which was good timing on our part. Friendly and really nice people. Thank you.

Whatever has happened. There used to be an ambience of quality and relaxed comfort here. For some reason the comfortable tables and chairs, in part, have been replaced by awful metal chairs akin to cheap garden furniture. Character lost in a flash and more akin now to a motorway service station. Bring back the original interior designer please!! Hot food not available on the day of our visit and toilets limited due to ISSUES. That is not reflected in this review as these things happen but cant see us rushing back anytime soon.

We did not get the chance to eat at this venue as apparently the people who had just started to queue behind us took priority. Let me explain... a lovely young lady who looked like she was relatively new there, greeted us and asked what we would like to order. We said we would both like fish and chips. This young lady was not rushing and I could see that she was concentrating on getting the order correct. While she was dishing up the first dish a second older lady who clearly had more experience appeared out of door behind her with some trays and place them down on the side, as she turned towards the servery area a second couple started a queue behind us. The older lady asked them what they would like and they too said fish and chips. There were three portions of fish in total and without any regard for her colleague proceeded to barge in front of her and take the remaining two pieces of fish leaving us with only one piece of fish and an awkward looking staff member as she stood there trying to figure out what had happened. The older lady turned to her and said "don't just stand there you can sort the lemon slices out". The young lady just looked at us and said I am sorry you will have to wait for the fish to cook. She looked at my husband and said you could pay and sit down with the plate I have just done and I will bring over the other when it is cooked. My husband said to the young girl that he isn't sure he even wants the meal now as what her colleague had done was out of order. The older lady over hear this and asked what was out of order. When my husband said to her that he wasn't happy with the way she had barged in front of the girl who was serving us, took the food we had already ordered, and that he wasn't sure he wanted to pay for the meal that had already been served ( He likes us when at a restaurant to eat a meal together and not one at a time) she took the meal put it in the bin said "yup goodbye" and walked out the back through the door she arrived. All we wanted was two meals at the same time but she didn't even give us the chance to order it she threw away a perfectly good meal and two customers.

Three women stood behind the counter took an age to take our order then an age to bring it out. £26 for fish chips chicken nuggets. Don’t offer take away boxes, won’t give take away bags. Disinterested, rude and ignorant. Plenty of good chippies around I would avoid this place like the plague.

Had a lovely cream tea, lovely and cozy with a lovely warm fire in the winter. Lovely fresh scones with cream and jam. Staff were very attentive and polite. We left headphones in the restaurant and one of the staff kindly found us while we were driving away to return it.

Wonderful place. I haven't been there in years until the 14th April 2025 with my daughter as a trip down memory lane. Good menu, easy to order and fast polite service. Food arrived in no time at all, exactly as ordered. Looked good tasted even better. I would go again anytime. The only thing I could fault if I had to. The metal knives and forks are a bit bendy when cutting food. I can live with that.

I had the pleasure of visiting the Vine yesterday with my adult son. We had booked for the Sunday Carvery. We were greeted by the smiling Landlady, offered our drinks and shown to our table. We were called to the Carvery where the Landlord Chef, carved selected freshly cooked meats. The array of vegetables was impressive. The food tasted first class and I heard similar opinions from other diners. Well done the Vine - we will be back.

Decided to pop into Ikea for lunch and were looking forward to their famed Meatballs something we haven’t enjoyed for quite some time. Given it was lunchtime, we were surprised that it wasn’t particularly busy and it didn’t take too long to work out why. Menu has changed and it looks like Ryanair have had a hand in it as we now have a basic meatballs dish, but if you want more instead of being a different dish, it's now extra cash, even a price for extra peas. Wonder what other prices are in the pipeline. Not sure if they are cutting staff but two lanes were open but trust us to pick the wrong one. Two servers at the other and one at ours (the first lane when you enter). 20 minutes before we finally got served partly due to the single server having to keep going back to refresh the bain maris. Terrible. We were there in the run up to Christmas and they were doing a Festive Meal consisting of Meat Balls, the most delicious cabbage, sprouts, roast potatoes, gravy and lingonberry jelly - amazing meal and what a portion. Add cake and a cold drink and two of us getting change out of £20 - brilliant and almost making up for the 20 minute wait. No longer doing their cooked breakfast though so clearly they have changed their overall meal range. Lots of dishes waiting for removal, probably because all the tray holders were full and sitting either at tables or in the return areas. Clearly insufficient staff to cope with a relatively quiet period. Hate to think what it would be like if they were busy.

Yummy food for our half term family lunch. The suet pudding was proper homemade pub grub. We also had a very generous cod and chips and a steak cooked rare, as ordered, with a highly rated pepper corn sauce. The service was friendly and professional. We look forward to visiting again.

A truly dreadful “salad” bowl that contained what appeared to be a whole tin of chickpeas, 12 French beans, 2 slivers of cucumber and a couple of bits of sun dried tomatoes. This was topped by a very small portion of dry chicken and a complete absence of any fresh salad vegetables. Definitely not recommended.
