On the back of your receipt, there’s a notice stating that if a hardy plant fails to establish within two years of purchase, it can be exchanged. I bought an Japanese acer in December 2023, and despite my efforts to keep it alive (using ericaceous soil, shielding from wind and direct sun, etc.), it sadly died a few months later. Following your advice, I returned to the shop. The customer service, Lorraine, was clearly not happy and passed me on to another staff member. Both made me feel uncomfortable during the whole process, with a noticeable attitude and face pulling throughout. After around 15 minutes, I eventually received a refund.I was disappointed by the experience - I was only following your own guidance regarding the exchange of non-established plants and didn’t expect to be met with such behavior. I would strongly encourage better staff training in handling these matters.

Excellent service , great atmosphere

I had lunch at the pub yesterday with a couple of friends. We decided to sit outside and soak up the beautiful spring sunshine. We were served by a very friendly, helpful waiter who did all he could to make our lunch a pleasant one BUT the seats we sat on were covered in bird droppings. The table also had a generous dollop from the local crows. Looking around, we noticed that most of the chairs were in the same condition. Yuk! Such a beautiful place so please give the outdoor furniture a bit of attention. Thank you!

My family and I had two excellent meals here over our weekend break. Our first meal was on the Friday night after a long drive from home. We enjoyed it so much we booked again for the Sunday Lunch which was amazing. As well as the food being fabulous, we received excellent service and hospitality from Matt, Lisa and Lily who could not have been more helpful. Thank you all you all so much.

Anticipating a big Sunday roast the four of us didn’t have a starter. We ordered two roast chicken dinners and two chicken caesar salads.The latter were fine. However the roasts echo previous comments ie underwhelming, overcooked, especially the veg and pigs in blankets. The exception being the potatoes which were if anything a bit anaemic. “Gareth’s gorgeous gravy” didn’t live up to its website description, being too thin and served in a half pint beer mug! It’s only use was to try to soften the thrice-baked Yorkshire pudding. At £14 for the dish it’s reasonable value overall. A good roast comes in at £18-£20 these days so the saying “ you get what you pay for” appears to be true.

Great food and service - very warming & homely pub/restaurant. Staff were lovely and the food was delicious. They were also good enough to send an item back to me that I left behind when I got back to Manchester. Will definitely go again on my next visit.

At £10-99 for unlimited breakfast and coffee for one person, this is great value. But, when I bring my 6 foot tall grandson who eats free, it is unbelievable. A lovely laid back atmosphere. We were looked after by Lily, who was charming.

Enjoyed a 2 night stay here. Lovely modern room with great facilities. Location is very good, just a short walk to Blenheim. We managed very easily to get a parking space with a 24 hour £10 permit bought from the hotel but can see parking being an issue at busier times. Breakfast was excellent, really good choice and cooked to order. Didn’t eat dinner here and think the evening menu could do with a bit of updating but overall would definitely return.

We have been coming to this pub for drinks since moving here in 2014. Today we came for drinks with our little boy and every table was reserved for locals. The football was showing and was told by the women manager that this is a rugby pub and if you don't like it you can drink somewhere else. My son whom is ASD was extremely upset by this rude and aggressive response. It is nice to be polite and kind, not just in your job but everyday. Mental health awareness!

Hemos estado muchas veces a lo largo de los años, a veces tomando el control de todo el restaurante, y hemos estado satisfechos. Hoy fue muy pobre. La administración debe avergonzarse y avergonzarse. Solo una jovencita poco entrenada, Emma de guardia para saludar, dirigir el bar y servir a todo el restaurante. Hizo todo lo posible, pero necesita aprender a priorizar. Apetecible gestión para un día soleado, cuando deberían haber anticipado que podría estar ocupado. ¡Pero no lo hicieron! El estándar de la comida era su buen nivel de uso. Pero el servicio, la velocidad y el flujo era muy pobre. 40 minutos después de la llegada para nuestro vino. 2 . 5 horas para 2 platos. Solo otros 2 comensales en el restaurante antes que nosotros y otros 2 en el jardín, que llegaron mucho después de nosotros, pero tenían sus aperitivos en el bar servidos mucho antes que nosotros. Emma también se distrajo con otros 5 que vinieron solo por bebidas, lo que ralentizó las cosas más. De lo contrario, vacía. Es poco probable que regresemos hasta que las cosas mejoren enormemente.

We have visited The Giffard several times over the last few weeks due to the brilliant discounts we are receiving at the moment. It is local to us and whether it is the breakfasts or the evening meals we always receive a lovely welcome, good food and brilliant service. Very reasonable prices for good sized portions and good food. Thank you for another fantastic evening.

Very bad customer service me and my freind never got our food what we payed for and in the end we have to get a refund for food and so a few customers had to get a refund for food that never came and we left also a few customers had to get a refund and left unhappy with our no food it’s been getting worse ever since they keep training new staff and the he staff don’t know what they are doing

Booked table for 5 in advance. Roasts were OK but vegetables cold and had to be reheated. Veg lazagna tasted like a microwave meal. Chef came out to apologise and offered a free dessert but to be honest we just wanted to leave. Restaurant was empty, so food should've been better.

Hemos comido aquí muchas veces a lo largo de los años cuando hemos tenido buena comida y mala comida. Esta vez las opciones fueron buenas (aparte de un miembro del grupo que no puede comer lácteos y encontró los entrantes limitantes) y la comida era generalmente buena, aunque podría haber sido más caliente. El servicio fue bueno con el personal siendo atento. Sin embargo, la pastelería choux para el desierto era seca, dura e insípida. Aprecio el reto que supone para todos salir adelante antes de que empiece el teatro, pero algo de comida parecía haber sido preparada y luego dejada. Anteriormente no era una mala relación calidad-precio comprar, sentimos que para la oferta era caro. El principal beneficio es estar en el lugar para un espectáculo.

We were recommended the NFH and we were not disappointed. The staff were attentive. The selection of Shep beers supplimented by the more contemporary Little Ships ale. The English wine selection was good with a small tasting offered before purchase. The food was the clincher. Modern English well executed and accomplished. Well done to the young team.
