The Swan Hotel in Runnymede

Lovely location right by the Thames. The interior is tasteful, great staff. We had a fabulous Sunday lunch, best Yorkshires followed by a few drinks. Thoroughly enjoyed. Will definitely return.

What a find near Heathrow! 20 minutes by the no. 8 bus direct from Terminal 5 (beware taxi surge charging!!). A 16th century inn that sits right on the Thames. Lively bar & terrace, friendly staff, delicious fish & chips and lovely rooms. Ours was Room 3, with a terrace overlooking the river. Great coffee and tea amenities in the room and a very comfortable king bed. Such a great stop for a layover in London. Will be back!

Just returned from our 2nd stay at this beautiful hotel. The rooms are beautiful. We had a balcony room this time, looking over the river. Lovely terrace area do eat/drink when the weather is nice. Bathroom was a little small but clean and tidy with a lovely shower. Because of the age of the building there’s not a straight walk in the building but this adds to its character. Dinner was lovely even though they were out of 4 dishes that were chose! (We’re not arsy people tho so it wasn’t an issue and we just laughed about it), what we received was lovely. All in all, this is a beautiful hotel in a beautiful location. Can’t wait for our next stay

The Swan hosted our son and daughter in laws wedding last weekend and I can honestly say they were the silent magic behind the dream day. Nothing was too much trouble, the venue was stunning, the food incredible and the staff went above and beyond at every opportunity. We took over the whole venue, rooms included and everyone has said it was the best wedding they had ever been to. Special mention to manager Paul, who's attention to detail is second to none. He cares and it shows. Can't wait to come back soon. Thanks to all that helped make it such a special time! 😊

We visited this Fullers riverside pub several times just for a drink overlooking the river and clearly lots of locals do the same. As our hotel didn`t offer a suitable dinner menu, we ate in the Swan dining room overlooking the river. Excellent choices on the menu and a good selection of ale to choose from.

It's a lovely location but the service was poor and I find £10.55 for a pint of Guinness and half of Peroni completely overpriced I'm afraid.... at those prices, we won't be back... and they wonder why local pubs are dying out!

Unbelievable service. Everyone was incredibly friendly and accommodating, nothing was too much. I’m not sure I’ve stayed in a hotel for a long time where I felt so genuinely welcomed. Thank you so much. Hope to visit again!

We went to Royal Ascot & stayed at this hotel, it was superb, a family run restaurant/ bar with a few boutique bedrooms. The owner couldn’t of been more accommodating & the food, drinks & location was superb 5/5 Fantastic

We arrived twenty minutes before the pub opened but we were met with such a lovely welcome by Peter and Judy. Before realising that the pub itself didn’t open until 12, we had walked in through the open door from the beer garden and jetty and asked if the kitchen was open. They initially explained that although they were closed, they could get us teas or coffees. When they realised that we were in search of a simple breakfast, they offered to make us bacon rolls. These two were the epitome of hospitable hots and could not do enough to make us feel welcome and valued. They are a credit to Fullers. The coffee and bacon rolls were top drawer too!

Excellent service today out for Mother’s Day. The food was amazing, the staff was very friendly and very organised, And on our way out all Mums received a gift in a bag which was lovely. Will be returning again top service 😊

Reserved some tables for team drinks and eats at the Swan, post a business meeting at our offices locally. Great coms from The Swan Events Manager - really helpful. Amazing selection of food, and all staff really pleasant. Easy to set up a bar tab too. Look forward to returning in 2024 - especially in the summer as this pub is situated in a fabulous location with great views of the Thames and locally. Just had Sunday lunch here - the fish and chips were fantastic, light and crispy and the Fullers tartare sauce the best I have had for as long as I can remember. My son loved his burger and husband also really enjoyed his chicken schnitzel. The location overlooking the river with boats and ducks gliding along in the sunshine was an extra bonus. Service was lovely and friendly and the manager was so kind. We will definitely be back when next in the area and would recommend it to anyone who would like a tasty and reasonably priced Sunday lunch in a lovely location!

Unfortunately from the moment I arrived at the bar, I could see that the Swan was suffering from a shortage of staff, and a complete lack of a coordinating manager. The young charming and polite staff were working extremly hard, on a busy warm evening. There just was not enough of them. This meant that drinks orders got forgotten or confused, and food orders took a while to arrive, probably due to a lack of staff in the kitchen as well. When it came to getting the bill, it became quite difficult to attract anyone's attention. It is great shame that established venues such as the Swan, have not invested in more staff and have a manager to oversee the chaos as it happens. We will probably not rush back to the Swan.

Visited today for a lunch with my friend and my mum. The weather was gorgeous so we got to sit outside and enjoy the lovely river view. It made a nice change watching the boats and the swans on the river, felt like we was on holiday. We sat there for ages talking and enjoying the atmosphere and the drinks such a lovely place to sit have a chat and relax.The staff were really attentive and polite and the food was amazing. I had the chicken and bacon club and it was the best I’ve ever tasted. The chips that came with it were crispy and tasty. Will definitely we going back again.

Lovely setting - came here for lunch having hired kayaks through Thames Kayaking (it’s about 5km from the start point). Great it has a large mooring point. The pub is nice, and staff are friendly. My boyfriend and I both had burgers on this occasion and they were nice, nothing to write home about but definitely not bad. The chips were very crispy and well cooked which was nice. Nice place for a pub lunch if you’re in the area, with good outdoor seating.

Beautiful pub and restaurant on the riverside. We had booked this restaurant months ago as we were attending Ascot and wanted to end the day with a lovely meal. Most of reviews were really good , so felt happy with our choice. Waiter took drinks order, and 10 mins later our food order. Waited about 40 minutes for our starter, which most of were only cold ones, so couldn’t understand the wait. Restaurant wasn’t full. Starters were ok but not the best. Told the waiter we’re ok to wait a short while , but not the length we ended up waiting. Asked several times, and was told 10 minutes, then eventually food came about 20 minutes or more after what we were told. By this time we’d had enough. The food brought out was all over cooked and dried up. One party had ordered a plain burger, this came with cheese on, when we told her , was to,d that’s what a plain burger is! 🤔 Told the lady who was in charge we weren’t happy, and she went into a tirade of moaning about her staff not listening in the kitchen. One member of our party said we didn’t want to know about staff problems, we were paying customers who had come out for a meal. We’d heard her make excuses for other people in the restaurant who had problems with the service too. Heard an excuse about their food being late because the fans in the kitchen had blown their order ticket away!! She was very rude and really shouldn’t be in hospitality. Worst service I have ever witnessed. Another table all left their desserts. Was such a shame as this restaurant and bar are in such an idyllic spot. The owner really needs to get the staff sorted out, or reputation will go out of the window. We left the restaurant only paying for our drinks. So after being at the table since 7.50 we left at 10pm only having a starter, to try and find somewhere else to eat. Really ruined our day after having such a lovely day at Ascot.if someone had come over and been honest and explained there were a few problems, maybe offer a drink, we perhaps would have been more understanding, but nothing.

Wir haben - da wir im Hotel wohnten - für das Abendessen bereits zwei Monate vorher einen schőnen Tisch am Fenster reserviert. Dafür haben uns die junge Frauen am Empfang zum denkbar schlechtesten Tisch beim Eingang gesetzt und auch auf Bitte nicht zum freien (!) Tisch am Fenster unsetzen wollen. Das tat um so mehr Weh, weil ich das Hotel aus reinen Nostalgiegründen ausgewählt habe. Ich habe dort vor ca 30 Jahren bei einem Turn mit einem Themse Boot angelegt und gemütlich abend gegessen. Nachdem ich den Manager verlangt habe, kam ein junger Herr und hat uns sofort zum Tisch am Fenster gesetzt. Warum nicht gleich so? Das Essen war unbedeutend, dafür kam es erst etwa in einer Stunde. Irgendwo dachten wir schon, dass wir für unser Aufmucken bestraft werden. Schade. Eine schöne Erinnerung weniger. Dieser Pub gehört inzwischen zu einer Kette, leider war hier auch die Bedienung entsprechend unpersönlich unfreundlich und lahm. Genau das Gegenteil kann nan wiederum über das Personal am Hotelempfang berichten. Sie waren sehr freundlich.

Wonderful location, dreadful birthday lunch experience! Over an hour wait for our meal, no one came over to apologise for the delay! When food arrived plates were cold as was the food and I do mean cold but as we had waited so long we did not send it back. As it was a Sunday and 7 out of 10 of us had a Sunday roast I can see no reason for the delay. I won’t even mention desert, dreadful. With a roast costing over £20 a plate this is not a cheap place to go.

Met up with friends for drinks lovely by the river in sunshine however apart from the fact as other people's comments it's pricey I paid £5.90 for vodka and Coke. I got a second drink again paying with card handed the matching but just the area to tap I had no reason to assume I would be overcharged but having checked my bank I was charged £6.40 for the next drink. A nice little earner if they are doing that to everyone. I won't be rushing back. Be warned

Hadn't been there for a while but food was lovely and staff were really friendly. We booked a table with quite short notice but the Manager was really accommodating as we asked for a table by the window and we were given one. We all ordered something different and were really impressed with what we had. Crabcake was lovely!

Pleasant meal... Very overpriced. Dimly lit restaurant, so if you'd like to see what you're eating, I'd avoid this place. My fish had clearly been fried twice. Fish was overcooked, batter was greasy. Funnily enough, it had been plated so that the burnt batter was placed at the bottom. Peas were cold. No check back, if so, I would have mentioned this. Would I pay £17.00 odd for fish and chips? Not at all.

Absolutely delicious sharing roast cooked to perfection. Top quality service from Mel what a lovely waitress. I had worked in fullers for 7 years previously myself and she suits the customer service role to a T. Extremely friendly and welcoming. As I know your aims as a company for customer service you should be proud Fullers :)

I was so impressed with this little hotel. Everyone I spoke to prior to booking was so helpful and lovely, totally putting me at ease about visiting during this time. It was my 30th birthday the day after the night of our stay and I was wished a happy birthday multiple times by staff. They also made sure we had a nice room. The balcony looking out over the river is so lovely! The room was small (I will say we did book the smallest room) but had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Including a Nespresso machine which we always LOVE as we have one at home! Usually only see those in more upmarket hotels, so was very impressed to see one here. We were booked on the dinner bed and breakfast package which was spectacular value. I still can't believe how great value it was now! This entitled each of us to £30 each allocation towards dinner which got us three courses each. The food was gorgeous. Good honest pub grub! Service was good. The wine list was also good. The restaurant has lovely décor and a nice vibe. Its all glass windows so you can see out onto the river. Breakfast next morning was superb with tons of choice. The staff serving breakfast were chatty and helpful. Again, wishing me a happy birthday & asking what my plans for the day were. All in all we came away being so very impressed with this cute little hotel and pub. I bet its amazing in summer. Visited for dinner this Valentine's day. The evening was superb! I had the whole Seabass and my Partner had the Monkfish Risotto. Both were as good, if not better than, you would expect in a much more "upmarket" restaurant. We had a lovely table by the window, overlooking the Thames and the atmosphere was very nice and very relaxed. The service was perfect - a nice balance of friendliness and attentiveness. The food is a bit more expensive than the average pub restaurant, but well worth it!

A group of four work colleagues had dinner early one evening at The Swan. The service from staff was excellent. The food was well presented and tasted wonderful. This is complimented with a good choice of ales.

I was looking for somewhere equidistant between Brighton and Milton Keynes for a family get together to celebrate a “special” Birthday. Chose the Swan based mainly of Tripadvisor comments.If possible the Swan exceeded the great reviews. Really impressed by the atmosphere in the Restaurant and Bar, the food (Sunday Roasts in particular) was outstanding and the service excellent. All this with wonderful views of the river. Shame its so far away!

I remember this place when they had an old school dining room upstairs where they served steak diane and crepe suzette made at the table with copperware and so haven't really wanted to go back to eat since it became its current form as a lovely riverside pub with food.Owen was celebrating his birthday and wife Barbara had secretely organised a meal for 8 friends but we had to pre order from the festive menu. Wasn't expecting the quality of food the chef had come up with - superb. From the roasted mushroom ( original accompaniment of pickled vegetables) to the delicious Game Pie (with suet-ahh) to the subtle but delicious and original cherry cheesecake - everything was delicious. I really liked the way they responded when confident Owen remarked on the small vegetable garnish on polite Bernard's plate and the waitress cheerily went off and brought us back an enormous plate of vegetables - brilliant.Service was friendly and efficient throughout and service was at the right speed in a busy Friday night service.

This is a very inviting warm pub as soon as you walk in. Nice comfortable cosy tables and chairs scattered around. The staff are friendly and helpful. In the room behind the main bar there is a lovely open fire. They serve G & T’s in the correct glasses and they have a decent selection of gins. We looked at the menu and it’s roasts and a few other items. The restaurant wasn’t that busy but I think quiet a few guests prefer to eat in the pub area. Nice clean toilets and the papers are available to read. I will definitely be going back.

I visited the Swan numerous times and feel it deserves a review, the staff are so friendly and helpful the food was really good portions and good quantity of meat served with an amazing roast. And the setting is beautiful right next to the river you couldn't get closer... the pub itself is very traditional and a warm and welcoming place... highly reccomend a visit at anytime of day or any day throughout the week.

Came here with friends following a day (and night) in which there may have been a little too much intoxicants. A few in our group were suffering more than others... However, this definitely perked us up and made us much better as all of us very much enjoyed the food here, which was of an excellent standard.

I was all by myself, doing some work during a business trip. I went for a couple of beers, brought my laptop and with the view of the River Thames, the cool people around me and the sun out, there wasn’t any better place to be that night.

Was staying at the Boleyn behind and opted to eat at the Swan. Great food selection, great beer and a nice seat right on the Thames. Service was quick and friendly.

We've stayed here twice recently to break up our long journey to Wales. Absolutely loved staying here and didn't want to leave! Our room overlooked the river and outside terrace, and initially I was concerned that it would be noisy, but the bar shuts promptly and it was amazingly quiet all nite. Our room had some great design features and a coffee pod maker was a welcome addition. Really really comfortable bed and a nice clean large shower room. The breakfast was excellent quality and delicious, and it was good to get good quality coffee on tap. The location on the river is beautiful, we fed the swans and ducks and we were sad to leave. Top marks for the Swan! Staff were all very friendly and helpful too.

2nd yrar on the trot great place ooff the well trodden Staines paths, lovely when its nice weather, this weelend this fire was on. Stayed over the road but use the bar here to meet, also had dinner for our group and pleasently suprised nicd food well prepared. Great location view

Popped in here at 10pm on a Friday night with couple of friends.Nice atmosphere slightly older clientele ( myself included)nice open fire.Was one of the most expensive pubs we'd been in but rounded of the evening nicely.

We always enjoy eating at the Swan. Both the bar area and the restaurant serve excellent meals. If you want a table in the restaurant guaranteed, do book first. Outside in the grounds, there are some interesting looking beach huts, where small groups can gather around a central table either just for drinks or for food too - a sort of semi outdoors private dining. The Swan is an ancient building tastefully modernised, and particularly popular with passing boat traffic as it has private mooring.

I have visited many times and always had good service and food. It is located on the river near Staines Bridge. The area is called The Hythe and is steeped in history. Great Place to visit.

Fabulous night out we attended this venue as a group of 22. The staff were very attentive, the food was excellent and well presented. Nothing was too much trouble even the bar area for drinks before the meal was excellent with well kept ales and friendly staff. My review here is based purely upon food, drink and location as we have not stayed at the hotel. The beers predictably are very good and it is great to see the Swan still stocking ESB when a number of other Fullers pubs have removed this great beer and substituted American style over hopped IPA's instead.The beer here is clearly handled correctly as it is always consistently good... If you can get a spot outside on a hot summers evening you will be hard pressed to find a better location locally being on the river with the bridge offering a visual as the sun sets. Food inside I would describe as "good pub", there are no great surprises but it is always correctly prepared, the service great and above all for a hotel with this location - inexpensive! Needless to say the fact that this is not our local pub but we regularly visit The Swan more than any other "local" speaks for itself!

Just back from a business lunch in the sunshine in The Swan and the food, location and ambiance is second to none however a little spoiled by the aggressive blonde middle aged waitress who seemed to take umbrage at our table for questioning our order v what was delivered. We are talking about a bowl of fries here, and she slammed our food down and was really aggressive. Clearly spoiling for an argument, she then proceeded to bad mouth the three of us for drinking too much. For the record our table had 2 orange and lemonades, 2 lime and sodas and 2 Peroni in the time there. We get they were busy and we didn’t complain but she got the order wrong so it really put a dampener on things. That said, if you can avoid days she works, I fully recommend it

We were there last Sunday night for a birthday party , there was 10 of us including children . The place looks great over looking the river .

I have been here before and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. You are always greeted with by pleasant with a warm smile, a credit to the management.

Went for your typical Sunday roast, okay meal could have been better meat. The restaurant is lovely and relaxing and magnificent view over the river, lovely quite place where you relax.

the food is superb, it is comfortable, warm and friendly, had a good dinner with 6 others in Jan and got 20% off the total bill,

Came in with my girl on Sunday and got served by Rodrigo and had a wonderful time! The wine was lovely and service amazing. He might want to get a hair cut however. Thanks for all your hard work :)

Called in for a quick drink while dropping my son off at University. My wifes workmate has spent a lot of time in Staines over the years and has called in the pub many times and spoke highly of it. We thought we would call in and see if he was right, first impressions great. Nice feel, quirky decor and artwork. we were only having one drink as my wife was driving, I was looking forward to a nice pint of cold lager, How dissapointed i was to be. The bar was busy but I was served pretty quick, a pint and a half of lager. The head had almost dissapeared from my pint before I got back to my table ! and after taking a swig realised it wasn't cold either ! I was going to complain but the bar was so busy didn't bother. I made a point of putting the undrunk glasses back on the bar in front of the staff member, who didn't even enquire why they weren't drunk ? Not saying we won't call back again as my son is in University for 3 years, maybe I'll try The Peroni next time !

Went here to celebrate 3 friends birthdays on a Thursday early evening. The bar area was very busy but we managed to find a table in the corner. The bar service was quick although not much customer service. It was the food which was the most disappointing. The fish and chips was served on a plate then a layer of paper which whilst eating disintegrated with the wetness of the tartar sauce and vinegar...there's really no need for the paper!...I had the artichoke risotto which although tasty was absolutely tiny for £10.50 its well overpriced for the portion size and I had finished before the other girls had received their side of fries.My other friends were not overstruck on their meals either.After eating we moved to the quieter side of the bar by the lovely open fire.A staff member did open the window which I was sitting next to without even asking if I we minded!!! Again its the small elements of customer service which were lacking.

Had a nice beer in this pub on a cold night, sitting by a lovely log fire on cosy chairs. Didn't eat in the pub. A short walk over the river bridge from the town centre. Quiet pub.

We were well looked after with compassion at this horrid time. River location is beautiful. Parking a little challenging

Most meals served were good, but the fish in batter was not completely cooked. One of our group was unwell overnight. It’s a lovely setting but felt the food was pricey for what is was.

We’ve been coming to the Swan for the last five or so years and there have been several changes of management and staff in that time. Some years better than most but the food is always good and the staff are always kind, professional and hard working.

This was our second visit, this time for a work party meal. The service was great, food fantastic and we had a thoroughly good time. The hotel reception and bar area were both welcoming and except for a slight delay/confusion on check out the next morning, service was equally great. We all loved our rooms,they were very comfortable and quirky, with everything you needed even in the most compact room. Loved the uneven floors, creaky noises and all those great features that come with staying in a 'proper' hotel. We'd all definitely stay here again when in Staines on business.

First things first the food was lovely, no complaints.

The location is ideal and parking is reasonably good. Traditional pretty pub next to the River Thames with outside seating which is particularly good on a Summers evening. In the winter it is cosy and the varied food is very good..
