Local venue, friendly helpful staff. Really busy, lively Friday evening. Tommie was in training but very efficient. Great bunch of staff.

My husband and i Went for Sunday lunch Easter Sunday, we both ordered roast beef, what a disappointment the roast potatoes could only have been put in the oven for 5 minutes because by no stretch of the imagination could they be called roast potatoes and the were luke warm, gravy watery, definitely would not return.

Have visited this pub for many years and always had a lovely meal. However, not this time. At first we were told the prawn lollipops were not available yet nearly an hour after we had sat down there were prawn lollipops everywhere !! Our starters (6 of them) only three were bought out so the three had eaten when two more came out then my partner was without her starter. The Young waiter said they were very busy !! Not an excuse !! Should have anticipated the Easter holidays and the weather. The main course of smoked trout and potato salad was extremely underwhelming. Just a plate of leaves to be honest. All in all the majority of food was good and the staff did their best as it was busy. But as I said this should have been anticipated. Not the best from the Rose and Crown I must say. Which is a shame.

Came across a lovely looking pub in the heart of Surrey and popped in for a cosy lunch. The food was standard I ordered a burger which was clearly frozen however tasty! May I say massive credit to ted A. The man the myth the legend. We even popped in for a maccies afterward he finished work. LEGEND. only good thing about this pub.

Our family of five was met with warmth and a friendly smile by all the staff working on Sunday 24 January 2024. I'm going to name them because they deserve to be named for the example that they set for so many. No dips in service, attentiveness, politeness, warmth, charm, helpfulness and communication. Because of each of you and I'm confident there are more to add, Trip, Alfie, Manny Ioana, Dylan and Amber, we will be returning weather permitting... Very old public house in Virginia Water. Good food and service. Out door bear garden, free car parking available. Nice rustic atmosphere in the pub.

I’ve been coming here for several years because a friend likes it and we often meet at the R & C for lunch. We always share the ‘monster’ portion of ribs. These were £20 before Covid and now they’re a staggering £29!! They used to come with a large portion of chips…today we were served a very small portion! Massive drop in standards and value for money. We won’t dinner again!

5 of us, (3 veggies and 3 GF) all had good food across our two courses. £150 (only a little alcohol)

Decent food but wait for it was just 45 mins on a quiet Sunday and every time drinks where ordered half hour later still nothing so ask again and not just once but 3 times same thing

As per the other reviews below 5 stars, the management of service here needs some improvement. There are plenty of staff but they are not coordinated. When it comes, the food is tasty and hot. Not a disappointing place to spend an evening but perhaps plan to be seated a little longer than you expect.

Stopped here on the way back home from Egham as it's a very old and charming looking pub. As our local is a Barons we were familiar with the menu (which I think needs a revamp by now Barons!!) ... ordered the vege wellington and it was nice ..perhaps a little dry without more of the spicy tomato sauce or a gravy? The service was friendly and attentive. Good meal but I think the menu needs to be rotated now /

Good Sunday roast, service very friendly, slightly on the slow side if I'm being harsh (I went on a very busy Christmas Sunday) didn't stay in a room. Bit of a random location.

Christmas meal food was delicious, really impressed. Sadly the service let it down. Food came out without full table being here, we were not asked it we wanted any drinks throughout our entire meal and table took 25 minutes to clear. Not even a check back was done which is disappointing. I would still recommend as the service can be fixed, hope comments are taken on board because it could have been a 10/10 evening: (the table didn’t even get a cracker each, 2 we’re missing) its small but meaningful during Christmas meals!

Had a delicious Christmas roast dinner. Everything tasted spot on. Even the roast potatoes were perfect! Great, friendly service too.

Have visited this venue once before and this second visit was just as good as the first. Food was lovely and they’ve definitely got an excellent chef team. Service was great especially Molly who came to and fro to our hut called Dave always with a smile. If you want a peaceful confidential setting the one of the huts is ideal. Cannot fault anything and will definitely be returning whenever opportunity arises

Had a great meal on one of the coldest nights of the year so far, sitting in a little kabana with our dog. Our waitress, Molly, was fantastic, showing us how to put the heater on and bringing us blankets. She also brought water and treats for our dog, Alfie. It was a great environment even on this cold night and the food was excellent. All in all a really good experience.

Lazy Sunday lunch with friends. Car park was busy, but our prebooked table was ready and waiting for us. Very friendly and attentive staff, who took our orders and promptly delivered superb meals. The end result was four very happy adults and a little bloke who ended up with as much ketchup round his face as in him! Next time (and there will be one) we'd love to try the outdoor pods with their own lighting and space heaters, which looked lovely.

Here for a family get together quite a large group, all meals arrived swiftly, generous portions & exactly as described on the menu. Fairly reasonable costs. Not local for us but if in the area another time would consider this pub.

Visited yesterday for a good friends birthday lunch. We had a wonderful time, the food was delicious and staff were extremely attentive and friendly. When I accidentally broke my prosecco glass it was replaced and even refilled! We both felt spoilt and valued and will definitely visit again.

Lovely food, service a bit slow.

We stayed for one hour before leaving, having not eaten. In this one hour, only once did one of the staff come to our table (at the beginning to take our drink order). We had to chase for the drinks. We had to chase to take our food order. We had to chase to see where our food was. It transpired that the food order had not gone through to the kitchen. Mistakes can happen but in an environment where customers are not proactively looked after, they will not be caught. On speaking with the manager, her priority was finding out who had taken our food order, rather than looking after us. We were offered the drinks for free. Thanks. I’ve been here lots of times. Food is usually pretty good, but we won’t be coming back. Not until there is a change in management.

This is the second time we have visited as a family group and while the food is great the service is terrible, to start with one person had their meal arrive out of six of us, the next two meals bought out was one we had ordered and one that was nothing to do with us, gradually the meals came out one at a time, but the first person who got their meal had finished before the last meal came out. We had ordered the Sunday roasts and had to ask if there was any veg to go with it, we were bought one small dish of veg between 6 of us and had to ask for another one at least. Waiting between courses was a long time also, and when we ordered coffee only 3 of the 5 turned up, it was only when one of the staff sat down to pretend to drink a coffee that I said we were still waiting for another 2 coffees, we felt totally invisible

A humble pub located in a nice setting, with a warm, interior design to match. An extravagant, fairly expansive menu featuring upper-class foodstuffs such as Duck and Cote de Boeuf, as well as more standardised pub-grub, such as burgers and racks of ribs. The staff were extremely friendly, and I had the pleasure of being served by Amber, who made me feel welcome. Service was fast despite it being lunchtime (8.8/10) the food was great, rivalling that of mainstream restaurants (9.3/10). Perfect for family events and date nights, would visit again.

Definitely one of my favourite places for a relaxed meal or family celebration. Food has always been absolutely amazing and worth every penny. Staff have always done their best with special requests. Will be returning before too long.

We’ve visited twice this month, both on Sundays, the roasts have been absolutely unreal, service & everything amazing. Dinners were huge, prices reasonable for size of the meals. Definitely recommend the best of both meats roast. Thanks again!

We have been here a few times, and this was the first time I experienced poor service from the waiting staff. Had to chase drinks and ordered drinks that didn't turn up. Had to give the waitress a miss and go to the bar myself as it was the only way to get the drinks. The staff didn't listen to the food order, and even at one point, we were offered someone else's food order.

We only came for a drink. Both the inside and outside areas were immaculate. Great range of food. Not cheap but not expensive either. We will definitely come back to eat soon.

We were very disappointed by our latest visit here on Saturday, 23rd September, having been many times in the past; it's a shame the whole evening was tarnished by what appears to be poor management. We had an early evening sitting, so it was very quiet to start with, but no staff came to take drink orders at our table. We had to ask a staff member to come over, which, as it was so quiet and plenty of staff on shift, should not be necessary. We noticed all the staff members in all different areas of the pub, inside and outside and doing drinks and food. Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems no one is assigned to look after a set group of tables, meaning no one is paying attention as they're all over the place. It's not the staff's fault, but surely management should take a look at this. We ordered dinner, and my starter had some partially cooked chicken, not raw but definitely not cooked and was disgusting to taste. Our mains then arrived; well, four out of five isn't bad! The young lad taking our orders hadn't put mine through the till. Mistakes happen, so no big issue and after the dodgy chicken, my appetite had gone a bit anyway. Appreciated the 25% off the bill for the dodgy chicken and missed meal, but we won't be rushing back to the Rose & Crown, especially with the manager walking away from my sister when complaining about how badly run the place was at the end of the evening. If you have a complaint, deal with it, don't just walk away.

Group of 4 girls booked online when arrived it says have to 18 we are 17, nothing said on line was asked ro wait by at entrance by security while they checked with manager we were allowed to come in but felt very uneasy as they didn't make us feel welcome at all especially security who just looked at us. They waiter dropped whole tray of our drinks on the floor inside the shed we had booked obviously this was a accident but didn't make a great attempt to clear it up was just told to watch out. 3 had pizzas that were lovely other member waited for ages for her food we had almost finished ours. Nice place but not returning what like to see if they would act this way if I came with older people!

We sat outside in a heated garden pod, which had a great atmosphere. We went on a Friday night, which had heavy security - kind of a strange mix with families, etc. present. The staff were lovely. The food was a bit pricey but good!

we were visiting thorpe park for a few days from durham and booked a table for dinner. it was delicious. 2 sirloin steaks, a fish and chips and a bacon cheeseburger. portions were generous and staff were lovely. decor was lush and garden was huge. very nice place.

We had a family get-together & meal, 13 adults+ 8 children the staff were so accommodating & welcoming. Great outdoors space for the kids, great food & atmosphere, perfect location just off the M25, plus offers a very good choice gluten-free menu. Great food and drink and atmosphere

This is a lovely pub however the staff got our food order wrong twice. We are vegan and we ordered a vegan tomato pasta dish for my son which had cheese on it and had to be changed. Then my partner ordered vegan loaded nachos and the server came out and said they didn't have vegan sour cream for the vegan nachos. My partner said it didn't matter and when the dish came out it had mince meat on it. We are vegans by choice but one of us could have had a severe allergy to dairy. Other than the food mishaps, the pub is really nice.
