Lovely atmosphere when we arrived all staff were very accommodating as I ask to move to an outside table which was no trouble at all . We were served very quicky and by a very friendly Shelby who had amazing smile and made us feel so welcome the food was 10/10 the roast beef was to die for and portion size took me by surprise definitely enough food to eat. I can let wait to come back and try the rest of the menu x

We had a great experience in one of the pods, we were able to take our little dog, normally he is a bit yappy, but was very good because we were in a private area. Laith M deserves praise because he looked after us very well, very polite and kind, he is a credit to you. Also the young lady that said you usually have treats for dogs, but had run out, but that we could order a sausage, which we did. Very helpful staff indeed. We had the Crispy Cheese Balls for starters, they were delicious. I had the Salmon, also delicious. Unfortunately the chicken dish with chips was not so good, chicken breast was very dry, chips were ok ish. We would definitely dine with you again, in the pod/shed. The menu has plenty of choice, so we can’t wait to try different dishes.

We booked the function area for my 70th birthday celebration. The area was lovely and cosy. We were able to put up our own decorations. The staff and Manager were lovely, very attentive and helpful. The pub is in a lovely setting and the food was delicious - between our group of 16 people we must have eaten most of the dishes on the menu and everybody was very happy with their food. I can throughly recommend the Rose & Crown to anyone.

A great pub that can get busy in a beautiful day. Can be noisy in the garden with kids who are well catered for. Great beer that is well kept. Getting more expensive but isn't everything.

Service staff didn’t know the answers to many questions. Food was average at best. Prices were at the higher end of pub prices but £17 for an incinerated burger, soggy salad and floppy bun means I’ll not rush back. We were sat outside. Heater didn’t work. When we arrived a group of heavy smokers were moved from where we supposed to be. We spent the next 10 minutes breathing in their left over faggy aroma and trying not put our elbows in the mess they had left on our ‘reserved’ table. To be fair they did clean the table (after we asked) it was sopping wet for the rest of our meal.

Service is slow- it’s either understaffing or inexperience. If you find a staff member you need to ask them to be served.

Lovely English pub, but the food was just below the avarage. My lamb chops were soo dry that my knife barely did the job, The burgers x2 were overdone/burnt.. I won’t be coming back.

This was my second shot at this lovely pub outside of London. My three favorite words are Old Speckled Hen, and they delivered, with abundance. Fish and chips were admirable, but the roasted Goat Cheese salad was the kind for the day

This is one of our favourite pub, or was. Despite we have been going there for 2+ years we are still not considered as decent human being over there. I’m sorry for being white European but we should have deserved a better treatment. Last week their mistake was correctly handled, but a week after it happened again! Not sure whether it makes sense to go back and keep trying. I will always be a not welcomed customer ☹️ I cannot chose my own table if it isn’t reserved and the pub is empty.

I have been here many times and it's always been friendly service... however, last time... I was refused service after only having one drink. I presume because I talked to other people around me when my friend went to the toilet (I was not rude or offensive), as after that I was told I could not be served. I tried to explain I am autistic to the staff, and so may seem overly animated, which is an embarrassing thing to have to do... but I did so as it seemed ridiculous to me that they thought I was unserveably drunk. I tried to explain. But nope, no service... so we finished our meal and went to another pub. Our waitress was fabulous though, very attentive, and also seemed confused when I told her they refused me a drink at the bar... as I'd obviously coherently interacted with her multiple times. So... 3 stars as the food, outdoor area, and our waitress were great... but... yeh maybe don't go here if you have autism... they'll think you're pished 😂

Nice pub with a lot of space. Food was good but nothing out of the ordinary. Service was nothing short of unbelievable, our waitress Maya went above and beyond to pre-empt our needs and ensure we were well taken care of. Great place for an intimate meal, or with a large group of friends or family. Our waitress, Yasmin, was very attentive and came to our aid when I was struggling with the phone app to order (silver surfer issues😊). I had the ribs and my wife had the lasagna, both meals were delicious and properly cooked, delivered promptly, preceded by my beer, which was great. As well as indoor dining, the garden area is huge and has many heated, lit, dining cubicles as well as totally outdoor tables. There is also a huge covered area, think mini Millennium Dome with an array of bench tables and chairs. There’s something here for everyone.

Although it was busy I had an amazing experience with family. All the staff are extremely friendly and work well under pressure. All of our food was absolutely delicious! From starters to mains it was extremely tasty and quick.

The food was absolutely amazing! The cheese balls were a fantastic starter and the tandoori lamb chops were incredibly tender and perfectly portioned - I left feeling full and satisfied. The mint sauce was a delightful touch. The spiced apple and cinnamon crumble was to die for! The pub itself is unique, beautiful, and has a lovely atmosphere. I enjoyed every minute of my time there. Highly recommend!

Haven't visited for over 10 years to this pub. I loved going back the huts and outside areas are wonderful addition. The inside is spacious and welcoming it has the feeling of an old familiar home from home with all the comforts you could want. The food was amazing it was hot beautiful fresh and clean not greasy. The servers were lovely we had 2 as we were a table for 10 and they were attentive and quick. Overall we went back twice within our week stay both times spent quite a long time and we enjoyed both visits. The sticky toffee pudding was the best my daughter has ever had she said. Thank you all 😃

Due to being a large group of 18, we were told to pre-order. Unfortunately this was not communicated with the working team on the day, so we ended up having to re-order all of our meals. The food came out hot, but the timings between starters and having to chase our mains was frustrating. It was a very sunny day so the pub was busy, but the staff seemed to lack some attention to customers on the day. Parking was very busy too

Lovely countryside pub, with a busy atmosphere and an outside bar person who went out of his way to find out the allergens for me. There’s a lovely playground for the kids too. Unfortunately, the pizzas from the outside pizza shack significantly let this place down. It could be sooooooooo incredible, come on! The menu is inviting and seeing a real pizza oven gives you a sense you’re in for a treat, plus the £15 a pop price tag… you’re expecting a delicious Italian-style pizza but ours resembled soggy cheese pies. Such a shame. A real pizza chef would be a worthwhile investment for this pub and customers would certainly come back time and time again. The biggest disappointment for me was the plant-based pizza which tasted awful; it’s how I imagine eating coconut body lotion might be… 😬 it might be an idea for the kitchen to taste it before serving it. Tomato sauce, vegan mozzarella (which I think is the culprit for the bad flavour) and some jackfruit pepperoni thrown on top, for £15 is not okay. It’s actually outrageous. I’m heading back to Pizza Express or M&S for their vegan pizzas and will just grab a bowl of chips if we return to this pub. I appreciated the genuine apology from a female member of staff who then informed a more senior member of the team, who listened but didn’t really show genuine empathy or action. It was very busy at the bar so I can understand you might have been under the pump but it would be an idea to quickly offer your customers an alternative if they are brave enough to give you honest, verbal feedback directly. It goes a long way to showing you care that everyone has a good experience. As it stands, I think you’re probably making so much weekend money that you don’t really give much of a hoot. Hey ho 🤷🏻‍♀️

We found the meal that we had today was not up to standard that we have had on previous visits. Was not worth the money, the staff was excellent.

Perfect pub! Perfect location, loads of parking, loads of outdoor and indoor seating. Free WiFi. Very clean environment, immaculate toilets, baby changing unit in women's, good playground for children. If you want to organise a pub party then I'd recommend here, pizza party and food and drink on a tab, fantastic pub! Staff are extremely friendly and will go out of their way for you, all so helpful, service with a smile!

Good service by two young waiters for my bday lunch. Organised easily the free bottle of prosecco which I had an offer for. Service was prompt and polite. Good food and customer care. Would recommend

Quintessential English pub , pretty to look at from the outside, great location, what could you not love? Met by 2 menacing 'bouncers' on the garden gate, no welcome or eye contact, just lurking there making you feel uncomfortable about coming in, in fact my normally confident teen son was ahead of us and turned back saying " I don't think we can just go in, there are bouncers'. Once past the gatekeepers we sat in the pretty garden which for a Friday night in summer was very quiet, odd I thought. The meal was not cheap at all and to be honest mediocre at best, burgers were reasonably good, chicken with bacon and cheese was dry, ribs were just ribs absolutely drenched in a BBQ sauce, and some tasteless premade cash and carry type coleslaw. The most irritating thing was having someone literally stand over me whilst I used the very un-user friendly app on a tablet to ascertain allergen details of the food, she wouldnt leave until I had chosen, made me fell rushed - I remembered too late that I have experienced this crap app at other Barons pubs. I would visit again for a drink but I wouldn't bother for a meal. It reminded me of the Anchor pub in Pyrford, beautiful location but lazy with food, hoping they can get away with it because of the location. And if you're going to have bouncers (no idea why they are there anyway) at least make sure they are nice and welcoming.

Lovely food with good vegan options. We sat in an outside cabin which was really nice, with a heater so we were warm even in the rain.

Waited 45mins for food. Chased when I realised tables after my arrival had been served their order first and told for some reason the Kitchen had not received my order. These things do happen, however the way this was dealt with !!! No real apology, a refund was given for the food but still charged me for the Pint I had. Honestly!!!!!

I’ve visited the rose and crown a number of times in the past… the last time was about 3 years ago and was really looking forward to eating here again. It was always a really lovely place to eat, great good, fantastic ambience and good value for money. However, this time it was a let down. The food was poor. The lamb was over done, poor quality and chewy, the fish had no seasoning however the duck was ok. In our opinion, the service was poor… - We had reserved a table and were shown to it. A couple of minutes later, one of the staff came up and said we need to move from there because they have another reservation and can only be there for about 30 mins. A bit of an odd experience and probably just a lack of proper management and organisation.however, they managed to sort something g out as we were left alone there - There were no cutlery or paper tissue or condiments left on our the table. It appeared like diners were meant to fend for themselves by going up to the service table where these things are kept. However those service tables too had just tissues and a couple of spoons and knives left. Eventually I had to find one of the service folk and ask them for some cutlery and was duly pointed to another table at another end of the restaurant that happened to have some. - The service of drinks too was not great. It took about 20 mins to even get the drinks out and the starters and main course came out almost together…. The Sspiced Mojito had some wilted mint in it. The lamb main dish was cold… probably because it was lying around inside for a while. - and all of the above is made worse by the fact that you pay for your meal in advance and includes a 10% service change as part of the bill… there was virtually zero service worth paying for in our opinion. All in all, not a good place to eat. Given that we travelled 30 mins to get to this pub with the great memory of what we had 3 years ago, it felt like a let down. It is a real pity because the restaurant itself was a really lovely place and we were hoping to frequent this place a bit more. I do hope it does improve cos I feel they have a great location and fantastic layout of their outdoor section if the restaurant. However, in its current state, I won’t be visiting again until it improves.

Had dinner here Easter weekend. The waitress was helpful and apart from forgetting a few extras we had ordered ebert thing was great. Food was hot and tasty, service was with a smile even though they were really busy. Little playground outside for the children to play in

My husband and i Went for Sunday lunch Easter Sunday, we both ordered roast beef, what a disappointment the roast potatoes could only have been put in the oven for 5 minutes because by no stretch of the imagination could they be called roast potatoes and the were luke warm, gravy watery, definitely would not return.

Have visited this pub for many years and always had a lovely meal. However, not this time. At first we were told the prawn lollipops were not available yet nearly an hour after we had sat down there were prawn lollipops everywhere !! Our starters (6 of them) only three were bought out so the three had eaten when two more came out then my partner was without her starter. The Young waiter said they were very busy !! Not an excuse !! Should have anticipated the Easter holidays and the weather. The main course of smoked trout and potato salad was extremely underwhelming. Just a plate of leaves to be honest. All in all the majority of food was good and the staff did their best as it was busy. But as I said this should have been anticipated. Not the best from the Rose and Crown I must say. Which is a shame.

Finally a pub that offers well cooked food! Everyone in our party of 6 highly enjoyed their food including a 2 year old toddler with his ham and cheese sandwich. I had the prawn coctail, scampi and pavlova. Every course was delicious, with the right portion size. Lovely pub on the inside. Price was a tad expensive but worth it for the good food. Lovely outside area for children to play and for adults to sit.

Having found the Royal Marine at Lyne closed, I walked this way instead. There was Aspals cider, although unfortunately kegged. The barmaid produced one of those giant wineglasses, and preferring an ordinary pint glass I quickly said "In an ordinary pint glass, please " Her response was to smile sweetly, say "It is not beer" and proceed to pour the drink into the giant wineglass regardless. Ah well, it didn't affect the taste. I sat at one of the outside tables at the front with a view of the pleasant village green (well, glimpses of it through gaps in the row of parked cars). After being left to stand for ten minutes to let the gas out, it was a tasty pint of cider. The bus to Staines conveniently leaves from a stop just across the road.

Came across a lovely looking pub in the heart of Surrey and popped in for a cosy lunch. The food was standard I ordered a burger which was clearly frozen however tasty! May I say massive credit to ted A. The man the myth the legend. We even popped in for a maccies afterward he finished work. LEGEND. only good thing about this pub.

I'm going to name them because they deserve to be named for the example that they set for so many. No dips in service, attentiveness, politeness, warmth, charm, helpfulness and communication. Because of each of you and I'm confident there are more to add, Trip, Alfie, Manny Ioana, Dylan and Amber, we will be returning weather permitting... Very old public house in Virginia Water. Good food and service. Out door bear garden, free car parking available. Nice rustic atmosphere in the pub.

I’ve been coming here for several years because a friend likes it and we often meet at the R & C for lunch. We always share the ‘monster’ portion of ribs. These were £20 before Covid and now they’re a staggering £29!! They used to come with a large portion of chips…today we were served a very small portion! Massive drop in standards and value for money. We won’t dinner again!

5 of us, (3 veggies and 3 GF) all had good food across our two courses. £150 (only a little alcohol)

As per the other reviews below 5 stars, the management of service here needs some improvement. There are plenty of staff but they are not coordinated. When it comes, the food is tasty and hot. Not a disappointing place to spend an evening but perhaps plan to be seated a little longer than you expect.

Stopped here on the way back home from Egham as it's a very old and charming looking pub. As our local is a Barons we were familiar with the menu (which I think needs a revamp by now Barons!!) ... ordered the vege wellington and it was nice ..perhaps a little dry without more of the spicy tomato sauce or a gravy? The service was friendly and attentive. Good meal but I think the menu needs to be rotated now /

Good Sunday roast, service very friendly, slightly on the slow side if I'm being harsh (I went on a very busy Christmas Sunday) didn't stay in a room. Bit of a random location.

Christmas meal food was delicious, really impressed. Sadly the service let it down. Food came out without full table being here, we were not asked it we wanted any drinks throughout our entire meal and table took 25 minutes to clear. Not even a check back was done which is disappointing. I would still recommend as the service can be fixed, hope comments are taken on board because it could have been a 10/10 evening: (the table didn’t even get a cracker each, 2 we’re missing) its small but meaningful during Christmas meals!

Had a delicious Christmas roast dinner. Everything tasted spot on. Even the roast potatoes were perfect! Great, friendly service too.

Have visited this venue once before and this second visit was just as good as the first. Food was lovely and they’ve definitely got an excellent chef team. Service was great especially Molly who came to and fro to our hut called Dave always with a smile. If you want a peaceful confidential setting the one of the huts is ideal. Cannot fault anything and will definitely be returning whenever opportunity arises

Lazy Sunday lunch with friends. Car park was busy, but our prebooked table was ready and waiting for us. Very friendly and attentive staff, who took our orders and promptly delivered superb meals. The end result was four very happy adults and a little bloke who ended up with as much ketchup round his face as in him! Next time (and there will be one) we'd love to try the outdoor pods with their own lighting and space heaters, which looked lovely.

Had a great meal on one of the coldest nights of the year so far, sitting in a little kabana with our dog. Our waitress, Molly, was fantastic, showing us how to put the heater on and bringing us blankets. She also brought water and treats for our dog, Alfie. It was a great environment even on this cold night and the food was excellent. All in all a really good experience.

Here for a family get together quite a large group, all meals arrived swiftly, generous portions & exactly as described on the menu. Fairly reasonable costs. Not local for us but if in the area another time would consider this pub.
