Probably the most elegant pub in the area. Best enjoyed after a very long walk from Windsor - take a Long Walk from the Windsor Palace grounds. Many tables and covered outside tables. A superb wine list, pet friendly. Note limited parking.

The food was lovely but portion sizes were too small for the price they were sold at. I purchased 3 sides of chips and 3 cokes for my children and it cost me 30 quid. 3 cokes on tap costing 15 pound is abit excessive .

At first impression this was a nicely decorated pub with tables set for dining in almost all areas. My friend had popped in to book in person earlier in the day and chosen a table with the staff, next to a radiator as I get very cold. We had to wait on arrival for our table to be made ready and then we were shown to a different table than the one he booked. There was a radiator but it was not on, there were potato chips and ketchup on the floor by the legs of the chair which I had to point out as the person showing us to the table was unaware. We then waited for these to be cleared away. The menus were all creased and slightly grubby printed sheets of A4. I asked for a GF menu so they brought me one of the same sheets with handwritten crosses and ticks on to show what I could and could not order. When the food came my friend's prawn and crab linguini looked ok but he said it was under seasoned, significantly bland. I had ordered the burger with salad and chips, minus the bun. I was expecting a hand made, thick, succulent beef patty with cheese melting into the top and a good amount of salad to accompany, not just a garnish. What I received was a small, overcooked, flat burger with a slice of processed, orange coloured, cheese on top. A small salad garnish (small) and some pale looking chips. To say the plate of food was underwhelming would be kind ... it was awful ! Plus it cost nearly £20 !!!!! A Macdonalds would have been better cooked and more appetising. The waitress didn't check up on us for ages. I was hungry so did eat the food but is tasted as bad as it looked. I visited the ladies toilets twice. Once on arrival and once before leaving. On both occasions the facility was unclean with a wet floor and pieces of toilet paper on the floor. Surfaces did not look clean. To top off a terrible meal they closed the bar exceptionally early and started cleaning (mop and bucket out in front of the main bar area) whilst we were still sat at the table !! We will not be going back.

Had eaten here twice before and the food was generally good. However, before eating, I had to go back to my car in the restaurant car park to retrieve something to give to my family members who were already at our table. I was approached by a very confrontational male with a European accent in his 40s who told me to move my car. My vehicle was parked at the back of the car park and I was very careful to make sure that it wasn't parked in front of a nearby container (part of the Fox & Hounds cold storage) as I could see that a door access was always in use. When I questioned what the parking problem was, his immediate reply was "I'm not telling you again". I got into a slanging match which included expletives (which he started). Another taller fair-haired middle aged with glasses was with him and witnessed the scene. They were evidently dealing with some food supplies to the pub. I asked the aggressive guy if he was part of the restaurant's Management and the taller guy replied on his behalf in the affirmative. Anyhow, I moved the car because I thought there'd be a chance of returning later with flat tyres. I was practically fuming with rage. When I went to the restaurant's senior team members at the bar, I reported everything that happened. I even mentioned that if the same aggressive man came into the pub I'd call the police. The staff acknowledged what I said but did absolutely nothing to check out who I was talking about. For all they knew, these men could have been breaking and entering high value meat and fish storage but I some how feel it was more a case of apathy. When I left, I just felt that this horrendous experience over-shadowed my family get-together. Is this how loyal customers should feel when spending £162? I trust that the Directors involved with this Establishment will reply and take the above very seriously. Onto the food and service, a couple of things I'd like to note which frankly pale into insignificance versus the above. The beef croquettes starter is very good but with three smallish balls costing £13.50 they must've imported Wagyu beef from Japan. The Lamb Tagine was good but just three pieces of lamb with it. They made up for it though and brought extras. However it’s not helpful for the male staff member approached to state “it’s the luck of the draw” with this dish. I’m sorry but “wrong response”!

Staff were slow and made us wait. Everything from seating me to taking my order and even paying. Surprisingly the only thing that was quick was the food. But that wasn’t a shock as 2 out of the 3 meals we ordered were under cooked. My pizza was doughy and wet. Our steak was a decent size but blue/rare when we ordered medium rare and finally my partners fish and chips was soggy. We would have informed staff, but no one checked in with us during the meal and the comment the manager made to us when clearing our plates wasn’t nice. “I see you’re not hungry”. Dessert menu was small so no point looking at that. Just 3 types of ice cream…. Overall not a place I’ll be going back to any time soon.

Used to love this place. Still love it for a beer after a walk in the great park, you can’t beat the garden in the summer. However, food wise, it’s gone massively down hill. Firstly the menu is on a piece of A4, and looks more like a lunchtime menu, than an evening higher end one. The food was beverage at best. Had slow cooked beef rib and it’s clear it was only cooked for a couple of hours as was very very chewy. Wine menu is what I’d expect from a cheap pub and not this one. Service was OK not sure if it has new owners as it’s had a refurb which is fine, but with the area it’s set in, I would have expected it be so much better Will go back for drinks but never good again Such a shame

If its after breakfast time and you don't want a pizza, then there is no other vegetarian options available. Quite surprising to find a restaurant not catering for vegetarians these days. After a long drive there, we had to leave without ordering, as the choice was so poor. Update: Apparently the vegetarian was a "special". We weren't given a special menu, even when we said we were leaving due to lack of choice. Anyways, the main menu has no veggie, other than pizza. Also veggie is not "special" it's "normal" these days.

We had a late lunch for 10 people today. Service was pretty poor- we had to ask for lots of things, plus pass dishes to each other, clear the table, etc. Menu was really disappointing- virtually nothing in the main courses for vegetarians…when I questioned this the response was there are a few vegetarian starters…! Children’s pasta dish was particularly lacklustre/disappointing. Meals were overpriced for what they were. Wine bottle was just left, unopened, on the table- not poured for us. We live locally but, based on today’s experience, I will not be returning for dinner and nor would I recommend it as the menu is pretty limited and boring, especially for vegan/vegetarian people. Needs to up its game.

We visited the pub for the first time for an early evening meal, two of us arrived early so ordered a couple of beers, the beer was very good but at nearly £13 for two pints was a little pricey. Our two other friends arrived, unfortunately we had only left enough time for a main course as we had an engagement in the Great Park. The food and service were both good considering that it was extremely busy. However we found it over priced for the portions that we got. The pub had a nice atmosphere and we were pleased to see that customers could have their dogs with them. The car park was a bit of a nightmare but we managed to find places We returned after our engagement at around 8.00pm to be told we are now closed which was quite odd on a Sunday evening. Good pub at Bishopsgate, Windsor Great Park. Lots of outdoor tables when weather is good. Perfect for a drink and meal after a walk or cycle in the park. Standard pub fare, good menu and good selection of beers and wines. There is a car park but also spaces outside in the road. But get there early in the Summer to be sure of a parking spot. Here with family and friends for Sunday lunch - we had a great time. Ignore any review about bad service here - the waitresses were superb couldn’t do enough all really busy rushing round nothing too much trouble. Deserve every penny they get and the tips. Roast beef meal the best I have had out for years absolutely superb, nice and hot - beef was succulent and Yorkshire pudding fantastic. You will be hard pushed to get better anywhere else. My son’s cheeseburger was absolutely superb too. I’m not in to burgers but it was really good and not overpriced. Pub is cosy, log fire roaring away, wonderful and really clean including the toilets the cleanest I’ve seen in a pub for decades. So don’t hesitate - book and go! BUT watch out for parking tickets on the road outside - for some reason at 3.15pm on a Sunday when people are relaxing having lunch inside there were 2 parking wardens slapping on parking tickets - we counted 8 cars with tickets - out of maybe 20 cars parked. Absolutely ridiculous - why are the Council victimising families, friends on a Sunday a day of rest who are relaxing enjoying themselves having lunch going for a walk sending TWO parking wardens to slap tickets on cars - get your priorities right - the world has gone mad - get your house burgled and you’ll be lucky if the Police turn up.

Best Sunday Roast I have had for years. Superb. Cosy log fire, great service, well staffed. We had a great time. Very happy and will definitely go back. Watch out for 2 parking wardens outside on a Sunday at 3 o’clock handing out 8 or 9 parking tickets - outrageous what are they doing. Shame on you. I get they are doing their job but it’s over the top and totally unnecessary particularly on a Sunday when people are resting, with friends, family, walking having lunch and the Council send over two wardens at exactly the time they know most people are probably a little over their time having lunch. Lots of swear words. A lot of upset people standing in the street I can tell you.

This pub is lovely until it's busy and then it seems like the staff don't know how to cope with the numbers. I want to stress the food is tasty and good size portions. Sat outside and the music was pumping loudly and the staff were happy to let a family ignore their kids running around screaming on scooters and bashing on to people's chairs. This pub used have 2 options - either to sit in the restaurant or to dine/drink informally in the bar area. Today we were unexpectedly 'confronted' by staff within 2 -3 yards of the front door standing at a make shift lectern asking whether we had made a reservation? What? Its a pub we all thought! A nonsensical change in policy breaking a formula that has worked perfectly well for decades. Sadly I believe the previous owner passed away recently so I'm not sure how much of this is due to a change in management/approach. Staff appear as confused as the customers. Food mediocre unfortunately also. What an absolute disaster for a really great venue and previously great pub/restaurant. First and last visit in this new format. What a shame.

There aren’t many pubs in reach of the Great Park and having come from the south unfortunately the Bailiwick was closed despite it being a bank holiday Monday. The Fox & Hounds is decent enough and an essential watering hole given the lack of options. It felt a bit stuck in the pandemic with some areas as table service and then at the bar they ask for a table number when you’re ordering drinks. It was all quite confusing and a bit awkward. The food was insanely expensive and the portions didn’t look too big either. We did have a chocolate brownie to share which was £7. It was tiny and supposedly had honeycomb which was barely noticeable. The girl brought it along a dumped it on the table with the ice cream melting and walked off. We thought she had gone to get us cutlery, but she never came back so we had to source it ourselves. She was very friendly either so we found the service really poor, which is disappointing when some areas they insist on table service. The brownie was clearly a cheap shop bought item - if I’m paying £7 for it I want it to be exceptional. It was a complete rip off! They also say a 12.5% optional service charge will be added to your bill. So it’s optional but will be added. Be wary of that when paying if the service has been poor. Won’t be hurrying back be anytime soon.

What a shame! This place used to be excellent, not anymore. Hugely disappointing family lunch. Premium prices for below average food and service. Fish chips just about edible, but the beef teriyaki was just awful - tough, dry beef with plain rice, and over cooked...

We had a great pizza here last week - though service was not great. However today, after an afternoon cycling around Windsor Great Park, we stopped off for a pint at 4pm to be told 'we're closing'. I queried this, given we had arrived an...

£6 for 1 blackcurrant and lemonade. After that, even with an empty restaurant you’re asked to walk around the front garden to get your own cutlery. Really poor pricing and no service at all. Food overpriced for the portion you get, £15 for pesto pasta with a peanut burratta is too much.

So disappointing - I fear a lost cause! Have been going here on & off for 20 year or so and it always was reliable for a good meal. Last Saturday my wife & I went with 3 other couples and it was dreadful. 2...

Went for Sunday lunch at the fox and hounds and utterly faultless!! Fabio and his team make you feel more than at home, had three courses which we could not fault, 10/10 delicious!!! along with ice cold beers and wine! What more could you ask for… shout out to Sarah who was also most helpful. Highly recommend the pub and the beautiful surrounding area.

There is something quite special about the location, the ambience and service. Good value and generally good quality. Inside and outside dining.

Lots of indoor and outdoor seating. All areas nice and clean. Staff are so lovely and looked after us well. The food was delicious. Great spot for drinks, beverages and a walk in Windsor Park

Went for breakfast whilst staying with friends in Windsor. My wife had a very disappointing eggs benedict which was made with prosciutto or something similar which was not mentioned on the menu, would have sent it back but our friend's were paying and had taken us there and we didn't want to upset them so doubly disappointing , a good eggs benedict is made with off the bone ham.

Great place to stop for lunch. I really liked the menu options, just right for a pub meal. There's a really nice garden area for the summer days, but plenty of space inside too. The decor is cozy and the staff are accommodating! I would not recommend the pasta unfortunately (despite looking great) but all the other food was excellent, especially the roast! Overall worth a visit if you are in the area for a great park / Virginia water walk.

After a well paced walk around the lake at Virginia Water, my wife & I had worked up a bit of an appetite. We chanced upon The Fox & Hounds by way of good ol' Google Maps, thought it looked nice & hopped in the car & headed there. Very glad we did too. Lovely place, we sat outside. Very good service - the lady who greeted us was lovely. Food was very good. I had the chipotle burger and chips, which was one of the best burgers I've ever had. Chips were awesome, crunchy on the outside, fluffy in the middle. (I can't be alone in thinking that chips should be an easy thing to get right, but so many places don't manage it.) Anyway, that burger comes with bacon, cheese & chipotle ketchup. It was awesome. Very pleased with my choice. If I'd left it at that I would have been fine, but I never learn. So I overdid it with sticky toffee pudding for afters, (very nice!) & I'm now lying on the floor at home like a lion that's eaten far too much gazelle & needs to sleep for a few hours. Highly recommend the place if you're out & about & fancy some decent food at a very nice establishment.

Came for lunch with friends as have been here several times before, unfortunately the standard has plummeted. Overcooked salmon, badly presented and mediocre burger, bland and tasteless lamb and no care taken with the presentation of any of the dishes. Frankly for the prices charged...

What an amazing gem of a pub we picked for our lunch on our long walk through the Great Park! Superb service, amazing Brakspear beer, and gorgeous food to die for 🥰 We've literally just gotten home, and I already want to go back 😄
