Charming pub with luxurious rooms, comfy bed, and delicious food. Daily soaks in the freestanding copper tub were so relaxing. Breakfasts and dinner were high quality, fresh and delicious. The butter chicken with pomegranate was scrumptious.

Our friends took us to this charming village pub on our first night of our long weekend in Kent. We see why they have raved about this place since it was taken over and remodelled. The food was your typical British pub dished, but elevated to the next level As this time of year, if we see pigs in blankets, we order some. I highly recommend you do, some of the best we have had ever. Other dishes we tried include, chefs pie of the day, beef and onion, just yummm, and the rabbit with gnocchi. The service was some of the best for a pic, pleasant, professional and very efficient. The pub its self is stunning with two open fires inside massive barrels, chandeliers made out of vine bottle. Highly recommend a stop here if you are in the area and book if you wish to eat.

I went to The Kings Arms for lunch at around 13:30 with a friend. There were no parking spaces which was a pain (car park is quite small) so had to park down the road and walk a short distance. Nothing wrong with a bit of exercise though :-) Inside there’s a proper restaurant area but you can also eat in the bar area so we chose a table right by the log burner which was lovely and cosy and warm and quiet. I had the Fish & Chips and my friend had the Fishcake and both were very nice. I was worried about the portion size of the Fish & Chips but the fish was quite large. Chips were in a little metal bucket and small containers of Tartare and Mushy peas as well. More mushy peas would perhaps have been nice but it was still more than enough and I was very full afterwards. For dessert we both had single scoops of the Gelato. I would have liked to have gone for the three scoops option but I was too full. To drink with the meal we had a lovely organic Merlot. We were ably served by a nice chap called Sal - he looked after us properly - thanks Sal :-) I definitely recommend going here and I intend to return when possible to try something else off the menu.

Sadly I’m very disappointed with today’s meal. I have eaten here before and previously really enjoyed the food hence why I came back with family for my birthday but I left this time with no intention on returning. First off what have you done to the bang bang cauliflower? There was hardly any sriracha sauce, I had to ask for more, and there was no coriander, one of the key herbs I like on this dish, and they were super greasy! Then the mains took forever to arrive and all came out cold, luke warm at a push. When the staff finally got around to asking if everything was ok I told them the food was cold (and had previously told them the coriander was missing from the starter) and they did nothing about it. They sent another person over who said they would see what they could do but offered no compensation, in fact when the bill came we were still charged a service charge and nothing was taken off. I don’t complain about food or leave bad reviews unless I think it warrants it and given today was a family birthday meal, which I stipulated on the booking, I felt I had to write something about how downhill this place has gone. A simple courtesy of removing the service or a glass of wine would have helped but we were offered nothing for the bad experience. We will not be returning

Not good at all. Seated in the outside glass area which was very cold, but as the area was full we could not move. The waiter took our orders and I explained I was Gluten intolerant. I ordered the fish and chips. The starters arrived in good time, but we then waited 55 minutes for the main course, and that was only after stopping a waiter to ask. The mains then arrived. The waiter said yours is gluten free, then 5 minutes later the manager came rushing to our table and took my dinner, saying mine wasn't gluten free. My wife and friend ate there dinner and then the manager, put in front of me the gluten free fish. The fish was not battered, but cooked in a cream looking something or other and there were no chips, he mumbled I will get them. The cream coloured thing on my plate was not crispy and was vile The manager came back with my chips, no apology. The waiter cleared the table and I ordered a coffee with skimmed milk. I maid a point of saying skimmed. The manager delivered the coffee and said no skimmed only semi skimmed. The food was basically rubbish, not cooked properly and verging on inedible. The Manager was a joke, no customer service at all. My reviews are read by many people and I hope they take heed of this one.

Mid January and Friday night dinner. The room was busy. Not a lot of dry January going on! Mains are reduced by 50% if you show an email I received. My pate starter was a cracker, 10/10 - it could have come from a Michelin stared restaurant. My main of mixed lamb was a bit of a dud, 6/10 - but half price so ok. Mrs had beetroot and burrata which she loved 9/10, the fish and chips which was 8/10. 2 bottles wine so the bill was quite steep but acceptable. On the downside, the room was chilly which I see other people mention. Service and loos all great. Overall very enjoyable.

To start with the positives, the food was really nice. However, everything else added up to this being the most bizarre dining experience I have ever had. We were a large party and booked in advance, so were requested to preorder our meals. As such, we would expect that the food could then be ready promptly. Unfortunately, this was not the case. After arriving at 12:30, it wasn’t until well past 1pm that any of the starters arrived. Only a few of us had ordered starters, so those who hadn’t were left waiting without anything to eat until the mains were brought out, a full 90 minutes or more after we had arrived. The desserts also took an inordinate amount of time to appear, and so did the hot drinks we ordered in the mean time. The hot drinks were a necessity, as the room we were seated in was an unheated conservatory - more on this to come. Since we had all preordered, I am left wondering why we were waiting so long between meals. I am also befuddled that one of our party was unable to have their chosen dessert (per their pre order) because it “wasn’t ready” as it “hadn’t been defrosted” - surely the vanilla parfait cannot have been a surprise when it was ordered a few days before we arrived to dine? Very odd. As I have mentioned, the food was delicious, though the portions were quite small. It also got cold very quickly, due to the freezing environment we were subjected to. We were placed, as I have mentioned, in an unheated conservatory, on a frosty January day. Given our advance booking, I wonder why the room wasn’t preheated at all with the various space heaters littered about the place. There were some heaters in the ceiling, but the waiter informed us that the one above us was broken. So why were we seated there? No staff offered us any additional blankets or to plug in any heaters, we had to ask for the heaters and grabbed blankets ourselves from a pile in the room. I would think that good service would include taking note of the large group of people still sat huddled in their coats and offering them something for warmth. Some of our party were very elderly and so particularly uncomfortable. With the long waits for each course, we ended up having to sit in the cold for over three hours. We arrived at 12:30, and left at 15:45, which is a long time to sit still in the cold. When we were finally served all our food and paid, we were overcharged because we had paid a deposit for the booking and this was not subtracted from our bill, though thankfully this was refunded. The tables themselves weren’t very clean (there was a hair on ours? And the area tray for the salt and pepper was covered in crumbs and crud) and the cushions we were sat on had seen better days, while the blankets we cloaked ourselves in to keep warm were certainly not recently laundered. Finally, and most bizarrely of all, was what we witnessed through the window of the conservatory. No less than three times, a member of staff (who seemed to be somewhat in charge?) walked purposefully/jogged into a bush beside the building, stayed there for a few moments, then re-emerged covered in undergrowth and re-entered the restaurant. He brushed the debris off, but I am unsure if he washed his hands. At least this was entertaining in its mystery as we could speculate as to what he was diving into the bushes for while waiting for our food to arrive and trying to keep ourselves warm. Perhaps he was trying to start a generator? Perhaps it was a different route into another section of the restaurant? Overall, I cannot fault the food, but the organisation of the restaurant left much to be desired. I do not expect to be left freezing cold during absurdly long waits between courses when we have preordered well in advance. This seems to be a problem with management rather than any of the staff involved with cooking or serving, as surely the kitchen should have been informed of our preorder in advance. As to the strange man and his visits to the bush, I expect that to remain a fun mystery. We will most likely not return in a hurry, but the food was really good.

We have visited several times for breakfast in the past (summer 2024) last visit, and have always had a good experience for both quality and value. Unfortunately this visit was such a disappointment. We were the only patrons there on a Saturday morning, which wasn’t a problem for us. The room was very cold in temperature. The waitress was very pleasant and efficient. The food was the biggest let down. The full English breakfast had a hash brown, two slices of bacon, a quarter of tomato, a half of a mushroom, over cooked sausage, beans, two poached eggs and a piece of black pudding the size of a £1 coin! Hard sourdough toast and beans. The eggs were cooked well but the portion size represented poor value for money. We mentioned it to the waitress and she was apologetic, but we will not be returning and would not recommend unless things improve.

Readers: click on ‘Sort by’ > ‘Lowest’ to see an accurate representation of the food quality here before trying out for yourselves. The vegan burger tasted extremely weird and was dry and hard all around the edges like it had been microwaved too long. I was there with my Sister who had to return her meal (cod) as hers tasted vile. The food quality was poor. The waiting staff were friendly and attentive and the surroundings were warm, cosy and inviting - it was just the food that was the problem. We wouldn’t go to eat there again. Reply to your response: the 1 star reflects the food quality. My sister had to also return her 2nd meal that was brought out. The meat was poor quality with mostly gristle and fat, the gigantic potatoes were hard as rock and not cooked properly - she couldn’t cut through them. The pigs in blankets were undercooked too. She literally only had a mouthful of the second plate. My burger had such a strange taste I felt sick throughout eating it. We are two plus sized ladies who evidently adore our food and actually we are very easily pleased. You dealt us 3 inadequate meals, of poor quality and poorly cooked. You’re lucky to receive 1 star, if we could select 0 we would. You can have that 1 star for the friendly waiters, but certainly not the food. And judging by your other poor feedback it looks like others are saying the same!

So bad, it was deserving of my first ever review in 30 years (I'm 30). Please take into account I have never complained about service before in my life, so I will try to give a fair and balanced review. We came on the 24th November at 2pm for a Christmas roast. Firstly, the atmosphere was pleasant and staff were polite. Secondly, they did remove the cost for one of the meals due to it's abysmal quality, I thought it was a joke at first (as seen in the picture). They also removed the service charge after we asked for it to be removed due to poor service, which I will give them credit for. However... We waited for over 30 minutes upon arriving and was not offered food or drinks. We had to ask the staff, not once, but twice, until they came over to take our order. The food came in reasonable time when ordered, however, some meals were either lukewarm or cold. The quality and quantity of the food was shocking (plus one meal missing a Yorkshire pudding). We was given 5 roast potatoes between 3 people. With a very small handful of vegetables. When we asked for more, this took over 15 to 20 minutes to arrive. In summary, I have quite low standards when it comes to restaurants, however even for me, this was an absolutely terrible experience and would not return. Update Following Oliver's comment; If you look at Oliver's replies on Google and Tripadvisor he gives very generic responses and doesn't state how he intends to fix problems, work on feedback or even apologise for said problems. The majority of the time, he tries to deflect or blame the reviewer and doesn't take criticism well. Which sounds 'Distasteful' to me, much like the food. Detecting an ego or complex from him. If I wanted to be insulted I would have gone to Karen's Diner, which would have still been an upgrade. If you're local or visiting the area, please check out; 'The Barley Mow' or 'The Red Lion', if you want a lovely experience.. Or perhaps a local prison which I'm sure serves higher quality food. P.S. They even charged my friend twice for her ...'meal', a rather distasteful experience overall.

We paid a visit to the Kings Arms for a Sunday Roast as we noticed a great offer (kids eat free). The roasts were not served piping hot, but were pleasant enough. Plenty of potatoes and veg. Downside is that kids didn’t get a Yorkshire with their Sunday roast (adults did). I know they’re free but it would have been nice if they got a small one. Also - my partner and I ordered the pork because we love crackling. We were really disappointed that it was not crackling, but actually pork scratchings!??? It was very obvious, so I think it’s a bit cheeky for them to try and serve this as crackling.

Poor, nothing more than average. Visited midweek, and impressed with both the reasonably priced set lunch menu and the accompanying service. Living locally, decided to visit on a Sunday, which was a complete contrast to our midweek experience. Portions was small, namely, the scallop starter and roast pork main. However, what was most disappointing is that both the pork and beef roast (albeit beef reasonably sized) was cold. Convinced the Yorkshire puddings are merely placed on plates by FoH staff without being reheated prior to being served. Appreciate commercial kitchens can be short of room at times, particularly on a Sunday- however, this is not an excuse for cold food, especially considering the presence of large Rational oven in the kitchen. Both bar staff were remarkably hospitable and leaps and bounds better than their esteemed colleagues in the kitchen.

Just back from a family get-together, where the Kings Arms hosted 16 of us for a late lunch. The food was EXCELLENT, and we were all served at the same time – tricky with so many. Coeliac and veggie requirements handled perfectly. Great location, the the bar/restaurant/loos have clearly been recently refurbished to a very high standard. Plenty of space, and we loved sitting in the new conservatory. Perhaps because we were a big party, we received a link to share with all guests before the day, for everyone to order their food in advance. Simple and convenient, and the waiting staff had names next to all the dishes ordered. It was a surprise (especially as we'd preordered) that our food wasn't served until more than an hour after we arrived! But that suited us fine because we wanted time to relax and catch up. The restaurant wasn't too busy, but it seemed the poor waiting staff could have benefited from an extra hand or two! All in all, a wonderful meal and experience for all of us.

We organised a birthday celebration at the Bottomless Brunch on Saturday the 20th July for 11 guests. Organising the event had its challenges but Kristof , the manager intervened and from then everything went smoothly. The service and food on the day was outstanding and the Prosecco flowed. We were served by Kristof and Ole and they were both excellent in taking photographs for us and assisting to serve the Birthday cake ( nut free !) Everyone had an amazing time as did the lady who was celebrating a BIG birthday with a zero. Based on this experience I would recommend the Kings Arms in Egham for a birthday celebration. This is the second Birthday Celebration we have had there and both have been wonderful but this latest one truly excelled with the assistance of Kristof and his colleague.

I went to the King’s Arms in Egham some weeks ago on a Saturday. My late Partner and I used to be regular visitors since they opened, for their excellent food and ambience and sometimes outstanding service. As is to be expected, good hospitality staff, especially post Covid, are hard to find and even harder to retain. There have been some outstanding members of staff but they have left. However on my most recent visit (I do go there occasionally), I had a warm welcome from Etane who was very attentive. I ordered a bottle of Chenin Blanc which I intended to share with my neighbour and her friend who were sitting outside but they preferred to stick to cocktails. Anyway, Etane offered for me to try the wine and then poured it for me. I had the most marvellous Prawn Salad, which she delivered and topped my glass up again. The Prawn Salad (starter portion) was very delicious, so much so that I ordered another one. They do Brunch on a Saturday and there are some truly tempting things on the Menu. Disappointingly, Etane went for her break and Christos served my second Prawn Salad. He took the bottle out of the wine cooler three times in total but didn’t once top me up although my glass was nearly empty. When I asked for another jug of water it didn’t come and after ten minutes I reminded him. He had served water to surrounding tables. In an establishment of this calibre, I expect my wine to be topped up and when asking for water to be delivered after a few minutes and not more than ten minutes. I am a very good judge of character and have only been mistaken twice, having met thousands of people of all walks of life. It seemed that Christos frowned upon the fact that I was a woman and on my own! Tragically my beloved Partner and soulmate passed away 16 months ago. He wanted me to be happy and enjoy myself which I try although it can be very hard at times. I joined my neighbour and her friend and treated us all to some Prosecco and we had a good laugh but I came away with mixed emotions. I guess this is why I stick to the eateries in the High Street where I get very well looked after and never feel intimidated!

This is the third time I’ve been to the kings arms since it opened and everytime I have hoped that service times and skills would improve and have not yet seen a change. Food always takes a lengthy amount of time mains took 45 mins after starters today and several items were missing off, which when we asked about the waitress said she’d check and never came back so we had to ask again.Check backs were not done nor sauces offered and plates were removed whilst others were still eating . Really sad because the food is decent and the place itself is really nice just the lack of hospitality lets it down . Unfortunately it’s not just me with this opinion and therefore I will have to look to dine elsewhere for hope of having dinner plated and done within 3.5 hours.

Beautifully decorated hotel with luxury touches. Loved the fluffy mohair thow on the bed and high quality toiletries and complimentary glass of sloe gin in the room. Bathroom, however, is in need of towel bars or at least hooks as there were none, which was a bit odd.

Went to this lovely establishment the other week to meet an old friend only for a couple of drinks. We were greeted by the friendly staff and sat down at the bar for some drinks. Upon seeing the food coming out of the kitchen we decided to change our dinner plans and eat in the dining room instead. The food was absolutely divine. I had the confit pork which I absolutely recommend. I will be coming back and will be telling all I know about The Kings Arms!

This is my favourite pub in Egham, we are so lucky to have it! It's a great place to have drink, meal or meet friends. It's a beautiful place to visit day time or night time. Great decoration, ambiance which makes you addicted to the place. Staff are so polite and professional. I have not stayed at the hotel but I'm sure that's also great. I highly recommend it!

Had a lovely roast here a couple of weeks back. Pub seems recently done up, it is really nice - wonderful decor. We sat in the glass back room and they had a guy playing acoustic guitar which gave it a lovely ambience. Staff were friendly & attentive, and all of our food was great (the flat breads & scotch egg to start, then the beef roasts). We will certainly be back - reasonably priced too.

Utterly disappointed with this entire experience. Waited for 15 minutes for a drink order, waiter was incredibly abrupt and rude to us. Then we were all looking forward the famous Sunday roast. Plates came out in dribs and drabs, plates were hot but food was cold even the gravy, plus no one knew if the gravy and sauce was gluten free so we were waiting for ages to found out will the food got even colder. I asked for fresh hot potatoes and gravy to at least warm up the food at bit. We were offered fresh food but we were over it by then and we were hungry and didn’t want to wait. It was so embarrassing as we had bought family to the restaurant.

Usually absolutely love it here. Went for breakfast this morning and was not up to usual standard. The cappuccino was just frothy milk. My pancake stack with berry compote was delicious but was absolutely minuscule for a portion. My partner asked for alterations to his full english which were completely ignored so he ended up with lots of what he didn’t want. Overall left feeling hungry. Didn’t want to say anything as the girl serving was very nice. Hopefully just a one off but portion size for pancakes definitely needs looking at.

Yesterday we came across The Kings Arms by chance as we were on our way back home from a day at the spa for my Daughters 21st birthday. The moment we arrived we were greeted by a really young lovely girl I think her name was (Javi) She made our short stay very pleasant. Our drinks came very quick and so did our staters. I only mentioned it was my daughters birthday and she came out with a small birthday cake plate with candle it was so nice. Thank you so much and we will definitely be coming again.

Been a few times now so felt it was only right to give them a review. The bar is well stocked and they have some amazing cocktails to try. You can choose to stay cheap/reasonable or go expensive (some of the wines and champagnes are up there) but to give you an idea a pint and a G&T is about 13 quid. They have bar snacks available if you fancy a nibble as well, think scotch egg etc. The restaurant has just introduced a new menu with a very good selection (the pork belly is delicious) and again reasonably priced. They have a side room for private parties of about 6 people and a conservatory (bit like the one at piccolino's) which can also be booked. Yet to try the patio/terrace as the weather has been pants. The staff are all really helpful and polite and will even listen to suggestions. They are planning on putting on entertainment nights with local singers and if that works it will become a regular thing. Great place for a chat with friends, coffee and cake,a romantic meal for two or a night away (yes, they have rooms too)

Awful service from the moment we arrived and totally ripped off . I receive emails from this establishment and most in last 2 months telling me 50 % off mains so when we arrived we asked if this deal was still on only to be told no as there was over 6 of us we then spoke to the very rude manager explaining it did not state size of table he then came back with we could have discount but not on meals over £25 which it also never stated then received bill with no discount whatsoever then told needed a code which we was never told . The food was cold and very small portions the rack of lamb was more like a small rib. The pork was more like bit size and not crispy would never return

First time eating here with friends for Sunday lunch today . The atmosphere was lovely and staff were very helpful and attentive and the food was delicious. We all went straight for the mains . Myself and one other from our group had the Pork roast , another had the Beef & another had the Chicken . We thoroughly enjoyed our meals and even had extra roast potatoes . We also had desserts after watching several pass out table and the temptation was too much ... My fruit crumble and custard was absolutely scrumptious and the portion almost beat me ! 3 of us had that and my partner had the cherry sundae which he made dissapear without letting me try it ha-ha so that's a huge thumbs up . I can say with certainty that we will be coming again and have already recommended to some of my friends

The Kings Arms is a great addition to eating places in Egham. I went with my daughter before the cinema last night and we were both very impressed. The decor was great, the bar looked good and the atmosphere was welcoming. The staff were all very professional. We both had a goats cheese with a heritage tomato salad to start. It was nice and it looked gorgeous, but we did feel that a little something was missing. We realised once we’d got back home that the missing ingredients were black olives and avocado. For some reason ours came with what I thought was some pickled cabbage. It was very pleasant, but I think that what was described on the menu would have been better. Anyway, we enjoyed what we had, we didn’t comment to staff and we didn’t realise what was missing. For main courses we also had the same dish….the haddock and triple cooked chips, with crushed peas and good tartare sauce. It was really nice. My house Malbec was really very pleasant and my daughter had two pints of Guinness and blackcurrant. It looked like a nice pint. I’m gluten intolerant and I have to say this place is ideal if you want GF food. Most of the comprehensive menu seemed to be GF and if ours was anything to go by, there is no compromise on flavour or choice. My only criticism is that as a haven for people like me that are gluten intolerant it would be really good if they’d get in a few bottles of GF ales. There are lots around these days and GF Peroni or Daura are simply not the same.

What a total disappointment and it has to be said, a complete rip-off! I booked a table for Mother's Day breakfast, knowing that it wasn't cheap (£25 for adults) but I assumed (wrongly) that it would be well-above the norm and worth it. Oh dear, how wrong could I have been? Things started fine with a warm welcome and a nice table in a lovely room, but it was downhill after that. The meal came with a juice and coffee included in the price. Although the waitress did ask which juice we would like (limited to apple or orange), we had to wait a long time for it to arrive. When it did, bizarrely it was a half-full glass of supermarket-bog-standard juice, with ice (?!) and a straw! Eh?! And to the food. Three of us ordered the full English. Now bearing in mind the cost, I have never been so disappointed with a breakfast in my life. The art of cutting corners and costs was so evident it was laughable. The 2 rashers of bacon were over-cooked and skinny, the one hash brown similarly cooked and half the size of one from McD's (which are much nicer), a ridiculous tiny metal ramakin of baked beans probably had a dozen beans in it, half a large-ish mushroom (half?! even the menu said "a mushroom"!!), half (again!) a smallish tomato and a slice of black budding about the size of a £2 coin. The coffee was okay, but hey, when you're this cost-conscious and despite the occasion, no refills were offered. The service, like some others have mentioned, was below average - slow and careless (e.g. leaning across diners who were eating). And all this for the not-so-small-sum of nearly £90. A shame, because it is local and they have done the place up very nicely. But will we go back? Probably never.

Popped in for a quick pint as we were in the area with some time to kill. Upon entering we were told last orders, which though was a Sunday, was a whole hour before they shut.
