The Kings Arms in Runnymede

Been a few times now so felt it was only right to give them a review. The bar is well stocked and they have some amazing cocktails to try. You can choose to stay cheap/reasonable or go expensive (some of the wines and champagnes are up there) but to give you an idea a pint and a G&T is about 13 quid. They have bar snacks available if you fancy a nibble as well, think scotch egg etc. The restaurant has just introduced a new menu with a very good selection (the pork belly is delicious) and again reasonably priced. They have a side room for private parties of about 6 people and a conservatory (bit like the one at piccolino's) which can also be booked. Yet to try the patio/terrace as the weather has been pants. The staff are all really helpful and polite and will even listen to suggestions. They are planning on putting on entertainment nights with local singers and if that works it will become a regular thing. Great place for a chat with friends, coffee and cake,a romantic meal for two or a night away (yes, they have rooms too)

Splendid birthday breakfast for six today.Excellent food, piping hot all round. Comfortable , warm atmosphere.Highly recomend.

Awful service from the moment we arrived and totally ripped off . I receive emails from this establishment and most in last 2 months telling me 50 % off mains so when we arrived we asked if this deal was still on only to be told no as there was over 6 of us we then spoke to the very rude manager explaining it did not state size of table he then came back with we could have discount but not on meals over £25 which it also never stated then received bill with no discount whatsoever then told needed a code which we was never told . The food was cold and very small portions the rack of lamb was more like a small rib. The pork was more like bit size and not crispy would never return

First time eating here with friends for Sunday lunch today . The atmosphere was lovely and staff were very helpful and attentive and the food was delicious. We all went straight for the mains . Myself and one other from our group had the Pork roast , another had the Beef & another had the Chicken . We thoroughly enjoyed our meals and even had extra roast potatoes . We also had desserts after watching several pass out table and the temptation was too much ... My fruit crumble and custard was absolutely scrumptious and the portion almost beat me ! 3 of us had that and my partner had the cherry sundae which he made dissapear without letting me try it ha-ha so that's a huge thumbs up . I can say with certainty that we will be coming again and have already recommended to some of my friends

The Kings Arms is a great addition to eating places in Egham. I went with my daughter before the cinema last night and we were both very impressed. The decor was great, the bar looked good and the atmosphere was welcoming. The staff were all very professional. We both had a goats cheese with a heritage tomato salad to start. It was nice and it looked gorgeous, but we did feel that a little something was missing. We realised once we’d got back home that the missing ingredients were black olives and avocado. For some reason ours came with what I thought was some pickled cabbage. It was very pleasant, but I think that what was described on the menu would have been better. Anyway, we enjoyed what we had, we didn’t comment to staff and we didn’t realise what was missing. For main courses we also had the same dish….the haddock and triple cooked chips, with crushed peas and good tartare sauce. It was really nice. My house Malbec was really very pleasant and my daughter had two pints of Guinness and blackcurrant. It looked like a nice pint. I’m gluten intolerant and I have to say this place is ideal if you want GF food. Most of the comprehensive menu seemed to be GF and if ours was anything to go by, there is no compromise on flavour or choice. My only criticism is that as a haven for people like me that are gluten intolerant it would be really good if they’d get in a few bottles of GF ales. There are lots around these days and GF Peroni or Daura are simply not the same.

What a total disappointment and it has to be said, a complete rip-off! I booked a table for Mother's Day breakfast, knowing that it wasn't cheap (£25 for adults) but I assumed (wrongly) that it would be well-above the norm and worth it. Oh dear, how wrong could I have been? Things started fine with a warm welcome and a nice table in a lovely room, but it was downhill after that. The meal came with a juice and coffee included in the price. Although the waitress did ask which juice we would like (limited to apple or orange), we had to wait a long time for it to arrive. When it did, bizarrely it was a half-full glass of supermarket-bog-standard juice, with ice (?!) and a straw! Eh?! And to the food. Three of us ordered the full English. Now bearing in mind the cost, I have never been so disappointed with a breakfast in my life. The art of cutting corners and costs was so evident it was laughable. The 2 rashers of bacon were over-cooked and skinny, the one hash brown similarly cooked and half the size of one from McD's (which are much nicer), a ridiculous tiny metal ramakin of baked beans probably had a dozen beans in it, half a large-ish mushroom (half?! even the menu said "a mushroom"!!), half (again!) a smallish tomato and a slice of black budding about the size of a £2 coin. The coffee was okay, but hey, when you're this cost-conscious and despite the occasion, no refills were offered. The service, like some others have mentioned, was below average - slow and careless (e.g. leaning across diners who were eating). And all this for the not-so-small-sum of nearly £90. A shame, because it is local and they have done the place up very nicely. But will we go back? Probably never.

Starter of mushroom parfait and the scotch egg was really tasty, main meal was pork which was full of flavour. Sadly the rum baba was dry so very disappointed.

Attended for dinner with the family for a birthday celebration ,very pleasant surroundings and polite waiting staff the menu offered a good selection of dishes and the food was of a good quality, and served hot all in all a very nice evening spent at the venue ,I would recommend to friends

We joined the restaurants loyalty programme. There are ‘rewards’ for introducing others to it, 5p back in every £ spent and 50% off main courses in January. All a pretty good deal really. So we had dinner on a Friday night, fabulous beef cheek with puff pastry top - maybe I should have added a bit of mustard in retrospect, but it was lovely. I had a side of colcannon mash. Mrs had the monkfish which was a 10/10 dish. At 50% off, they were both under £10. All in all an inexpensive evening, great atmosphere, and superb service.

I couldn’t recommend more! The nicest place in Egham (although that’s not hard to beat!). The atmosphere is lovely and not too loud. Lovely seasonal menu with great variety. Always happy to be back here!

Great location and an excellent bed & breakfast on the High Street of Egham - the breakfast was delicious and the staff extremely welcoming and helpful!

My family enjoyed a birthday dinner here last weekend. Big thumbs up for the flat iron steak, the pork belly and the apple and plum crumble. We were seated in the Menagerie (glass extension), which we found a little bit nippy even with the electric patio style heaters. Blankets were provided creating a cosy atmosphere, but I'm not one for using shared blankets. The service was efficient and friendly. We will definitely be back, but will probably choose to sit in another part of the pub restaurant.

Lovely rooms, our bathroom was particularly spacious. The bed is very comfortable and providing complimentary fresh water, capsule coffee and even sloe gin was a nice touch.

We have previously had some lovely meals here. So decided to splash out for Christmas Day lunch as our son was coming back from Australia. We were all excited and looking forward to a special meal, expecting it to be fantastic.It was awfully disappointing and considering we had to pay in advance, we are gutted. It was terrible. I complained on the day to our waitress who said she would pass it on and also to a manager who took my email address and said someone would contact me. This didn’t happen. So I sent a detailed email with photos of our disappointing food. But no reply either. We are local and have recommended to many people and have now told them how dreadful it was. It ruined our Christmas Day we feel robbed.

Nicely fitted out pub. Focus on food really but nice bar area. Quite pricey and limited beer selection but good location.

I was part of a group of 10, no tap water, we asked for an extra Yorkshire pudding and extra veg but none were brought, I ordered the lamb but as you can see it was one piece, had to ask for extra lamb which the restaurant supplied but was not impressed considering the venue seemed to take themselves seriously as a restaurant. Not worth the value, disappointed.

On arrival barman was very attentive and sorted drinks and table within minutes. Once seated, took a while for waitress to come over and take our order, food arrived but wasn’t over excited, my cheese soufflé was warm, not hot and my husband salmon roulade was tiny, we actually thought it was an appetiser. Main course was ok, turkey and fillet steak, service wasn’t great, lots of waitresses standing round doing nothing but slow to come to us when we wanted something. Also the room was really cold, I had to ask if they could shut the conservatory door. This is our 4th visit since opening and I don’t think we will be back. Such a shame as we are local and we thought we had found a little gem in egham but sadly not. After asking for the bill, we left the cash on the table and on leaving the restaurant, the waitress shouted out in front of everyone “Have you two paid”!!! Not very professional I feel.

Excellent roast, unsure if it is under new management but the service was excellent and professional. I have always received good service here it was exceptional today. Sunday roast was great

The atmosphere in this pub is very relaxed and elegant, which makes it a very nice place to drink. A great job is done by the staff behind the bar. They are very friendly and welcoming.

So cold inside the restaurant Vents in the ceiling blow very cold air into dining room so was very chilly We moved tables and advised staff and floor manager, they apologised and said there was a fault and had had on going issues but could not adjust the temperature. Staff were very apologetic Most of the diners had to keep their jackets on. We were supplied hot water bottles and blankets ( from the outside seating area) Food lovely staff really good

Just came for a quick dinner with a friend, was served by an arrogant, dismissive, entitled, gen z tosser in an alice band, the time is 8.30pm on the 28th of Nov 2023. Not much more that I can say.

From the outside I wasn't expecting much and we were only popping in for a quick pint after having roped my brother in to help me get a fridge freezer in the back of the car, but once inside I was pleasantly surprised. A lovely gastro pub, with a nice ambience. A good selection of beers although by the looks of the pumps they were all the cask were guardsmen by Windsor and Eton brewery, but a differing selection of draft beer. The atmosphere was causal but upmarket, no noisy music or TV. We didn't stay for food and I only saw a couple of desserts coming out but they looked good. I look forward to coming back to try the food.

I had the wonderful opportunity, to be whisked away to The Kings Arms Egham for drinks, dinner and a nights stay in one of the most beautiful hidden gems in England. To say the room was beautiful is an understatement. It was romantic, modern with such ornate and special touches. As I laid in the most beautiful bath (and I mean it, please see the pictures) with a glass of wine, I felt completely relaxed and incredibly lucky. The staff were so friendly, the food was delicious, now I would call myself a scotch egg connoisseur, being a chef and writer myself. But the scotch egg at the Kings arms is out of this world, the presentation, the sauce, as you break into that golden centre my heart actually skipped a beat. The room, the bed and the atmosphere made me feel like I was having the perfect little holiday. If you are a looking for the best place for a classy, cosy and scrumptious getaway The Kings Arms is without a doubt my favourite! Thank you so much for having us. We will see you again very soon! Very nice Pub /Restaurant ,we only went in for drinks and had a lovely time. Lovely atmosphere and very friendly / helpful staff .Especially a lady called Jan ,I think she was from South Africa , she was very cheerful ,pleasant and professional . Can't wait to go again.

A good meal, which, with the generous discount that we received somewhat out of the blue, turned out to be rather good value.
